Review Kappy's Italian Restaurant - Guildford

Unfortunately we didn’t get pics of our food because we were too keen to eat it! But tonight was absolutely amazing could not fault the restaurant at all! The service was fantastic, super fast and friendly, the food was to die for and the cocktails were…. Not skimping (left feeling rather jolly 😂) top quality italian food

WOW WOW WOW. Just amazing little Italian restaurant. Cozy decor, extremely welcoming staff and the food, yum. Huge serving and great prices. Will be back and soon. Pics are Creamy prawn & scallop ravioli and smoked salmon. Porcini Mushroom risotto with truffle oil.

Enjoyed myself. Fresh pasta and excellent customer service.

Went past, saw it was open, went in for a light lunch, we did a walk in, and the lovely female staff member had to check, whether it was ok, and it was. We had a herb and garlic bread and a sharing plate, and I must say the OLIVES where delicious, for someone who doesn't like them. We're definitely coming back, I only wish I could have given you a twenty star rating. Simon and wheelie.

Whenever we go out, my go to is always a tomato based pasta. Kappys does the BEST spicy crab linguine!! It’s always my go-to. They took it off the menu once and I was devastated but they replaced it with a prawn pasta which was equally as good! I went back another time and that was off the menu too but the waitress who remembered me had the kitchen make it for me especially. Coming from a hospitality background, this is definitely going above and beyond. The restaurant is super cosy and unique too. Have tried a number of other items on the menu, also fantastic! Such a gem to have so close to home. Thank you!

Have been meaning to go there for years, but glad we finally did today. Cosy little spot with a classic Italian menu - not a lasagne or bacon carbonara in sight which was nice. We opted for the crusty Italian bread to start which we washed down with the very reasonable house red (which you can order by the carafe). For main, we had the scolopini in marsala mushroom sauce and the fettuchini with beef ragu (special). Both were packed with flavour and perfect for the miserable rainy day. To finish, we had the tiramisu and lemon cream profiteroles. Both incredible. The former was rich, creamy and soaked in nice coffee. The latter was lighter, but just as delicious. I wasn't sure if I'd like the lemon element, but it worked really and lifted the whole thing. Easy 5 stars - we'll definitely be back!

This was my first experience at Kappy's and I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant feels very authentic Italian with it's red and white table cloths and tasteful decor. The food was definitely the kicker to make me come back. I had one of the best seafood risotto's I ever tasted. The wine selection was great and reasonably priced. The staff were prompt and friendly. Given that this is located around the corner from my office in Guildford I'll definitely be visiting again for a long Friday lunch. 👌

One of the best places for an Italian meal in Perth. Perfect and attentive service, great food and very accommodating for kids etc. (they don't have kids meals as such but happy to make smaller serves of something) Also in the WA entertainment book. Great place in winter time as its protected from the elements with great heating.

Very disappointed with the pizza, the crust was cooked but middle all soggy and under cooked. It was the Crispy bacon and pineapple pizza minus pineapple and the bacon was not crispy and tasted like diced ham not bacon. We came all the way from the other side of the river for my grandsons birthday and not impressed.

Although not a regular diner at Kappy’s we have been many times over the last 30+ years and always enjoyed a great Italian meal. Saturday night was without a doubt one of the very best meals we have ever had either here in Perth or in Italy, so thank you very much to the Kappy ‘family’ for a great evening.

We had great, quick service! And the waiters were very friendly! When the meals came the carbonara was really good! I enjoyed it! It needed a crack of salt but other than that great. We also ordered the veal, and not so good on that one, the veal was tough and their was no flavour at lol in the dish. We enjoyed the sides more than the veal. Other than that the device was great

Service was ok but i asked for a coke zero without ice but was given one with ice. The food was the biggest let down, we had the bacon and pineapple which was a real let down as the dough was hardly cooked and for $25 that was a small pizza. Very disappointed in the food and drinks tonight. Prices are way over priced for what you get.

2nd time I've been here.. I love this restaurant!! Can't wait to come back! It's so cozy here. The service was the best! The food , just Devine!! I had the barramundi and creamy prawns as did my husband. Oh wow! Just the best, I'm coming back for that meal..my son had the seafood fettuccine, he just raved and raved about how nice it was. Not a single complaint could be made, just awesome!

We always love Kappys - it’s one of our locals and we have never had a bad meal or complaint - my scallopini Marsala last night wAs the best ever - thanks guys

6 dishes ordered and could not fault a single thing. The waitstaff are super attentive and the fun noisy family atmosphere was unexpectedly welcoming. I recommend making a booking so you can get a better table. But we were seated in a nice spot anyway. I've been going to Kappy's, at there various locations, for 30 years! And it's just as good as it's always been.

Last night my wife and I stopped for the dinner and found nice and cosy ambiance with a true Italian feel. And that is where "italian" ends. Service was decent, nothing above usual. But the food was disastrous. The garlic bread as a starter was so soggy, well dipped in butter. Although hungry pizza lover I left more than half on the plate. Such a shame that pizza base (bread) was great but it lost all of its crispiness because it was floating (literally) in fat. Toppings were of poor quality, not a trace of mozzarella cheese but some unidentifiable tasteless crumbly substitute, a sausage was dry as well as the olives. I tasted my wife's chilly mussels and instead of nice taste and smell of clear seas I had an aftertaste of muddy waters. I do not know where they come from. My advice: find a new chef ASAP

Took us over 1hr n half to get our food and was very disappointed use to love kappys also come up to us to offer the kids desert thinking it's them being polite nope $20 for 2 ice creams wat a joke won't b going back well over priced

Upon our experience last night, whilst what food was ordered was great, We did however notice on the menu that there were no Salad options available. Perhaps this can be considered should the menu change.

Fabulous This was my 3rd visit and I've never been let down with any of them. We went with our friends who are vegan and the kitchen were so accommodating, all 4 of us were very impressed. We'll definitely be back, thank you.

one of the best restaurants we have been to in a long while. excellent food, reasonable price, good size serves fabulous wait staff, attentive but not over the top in your face or pushy, we had time to relax in between courses. relaxed atmosphere, pleasant simple décor. plenty of room around tables very clean

Excellent service and really great, fast and fresh food. Enjoyed the meal and will return!

Cosy Italian in Guildford. We enjoyed beef carpaccio and the gnocchi. Both excellent. Recommend a visit. It is good for groups, plenty of noise and laughs. I also had the Giacomo cocktail which was excellent. They also accept the entertainment card.

PASTA ON THE SWAN<br/>It is a stone throw from the Swan River. Kappy’s is a family run restaurant with a wonderful homely atmosphere. No matter the day of the week, the service, the food, the staff and special attention is always there. The food is homely, wholesome and made with love by Nonna & Nonno. The serves are very generous and we always get our usual accompaniments with the meals. Ordinarily we would not have desert, but Nonna’s profiteroles are simply the best. The only place we have desert!<br/>Well done Kappy’s family - we love your ristorante!
Paulandhelene
First time at Kappys we weren't disappointed with the food .The service was good & good timing .The wine is over priced Average in the valley is $26-$30 plus .Parking is not very good but at least there was the oval to park on. We will  go back at some stage
Gottlieb Baroni
Beautiful Restaurant, very good service, but food is a let down. No fresh ingredients, over or under cooked food, hot dishes are partly  cold when served. It's a shame, is such a nice restaurant, maybe less on the menu is really more!<br/>Thanks anyway.
Perth Diner
Very bland food awaits... slightly stale, plain tasting pasta, and vintage seafood (calamari was the consistency of vulcanized rubber). Kappy's compares poorly to most contemporary Italian restaurants in the Perth area.  Crucial for any restaurant, especially with Kappy's prices, would be to make sure the food is always fresh.

Wouldn't go again. Service good but it was very early on Monday evening. Food edible but very ordinary. Tiramisu very disappointing, Woolworths own from the chilled cabinet far superior. <br/>
Emma
Went back to Kappy's tonight for the first time in years and was impressed - the staff were really lovely and friendly. The food was full of flavour - two of us had the gnocchi and one had the barramundi, and we all really enjoyed our meals. Dessert was very good too; we had ginger pudding, tiramisu and crepes. The only complaint was that we were freezing, but that's because someone on the table next to us requested the heater was turned off. Next time i will dress more warmly! :-) Also the metal chairs are very uncomfortable.

The quality of the food was unquestionably of a very high standard. However my 7 year old son who ordered an adult sized main of spaghetti bolognese was still hungry after after licking the bowl clean. Meal prices are also higher than what you may pay for similar meals elsewhere. Staff were friendly.

Kappy's is a great restaurant! It has been a family favourite for the last 10 years. They have beautiful food that has been executed very well. Their menu has a very traditional italian base, which is wonderful. Highly recommend!

A family group of 7 people visited for Sunday lunch last week.  Ages ranged from 13 to 87.  From the minute we walked in the door we were made to feel welcome.  We all ordered different meals and nothing could be faulted.  There were plenty of choices on the menue to suit all tastes. We had 3 courses of delicious food served by friendly helpful staff.  Parking at the rear is very useful.  We are looking forward to our next visit which will be soon.
Food_Glorious_Food
This quaint Italian restaurant although nice, is pretty standard fare when it comes to the Italian food dining scene in Perth. Pastas and gnocchi are made in house, serving sizes were enormous (literally enough for 2), starters are the usual offerings of calamari, carpaccio, arancini etc. Not an overly exciting menu and some dishes were a little hit and miss with flavour, but service was good, atmosphere was nice and overall a pleasant dining experience. Worth checking out when you're next in the mood for a solid plate of decent pasta.
Perth Eater
What a wonderful hidden gem it turned out to be. I was really impressed with the quirky decor and the friendliness of the staff, then the absolute cleanliness of the whole place (believe me, I do inspect the 'loos' as well as the restaurant). Although not a large menu, we all found a dish that appealed to us...and they were perfection. The sauce on the Barramundi was to die for (if I was alone, I may have licked the plate). It was definitely worth the drive.

We have dined here many times over the years. The food is always excellently prepared and presented. Staff are welcoming, friendly and very accomodating.

Always bustling place on Guildford's cafe strip. Friendly service, seems family run. The food is fresh and wholesome without the reliance on creaminess for taste. Doesn't disappoint.
Keith Emmens
Rare lunch date with my wife. Loved it !!!<br/>Only reason I'm not giving a 5 is that my wife wishes she had the barramundi rather than the chilli crab. But that's a personal choice thing as I loved the chilli crab. Will definitely return.

Living in Guildford, we are a little spoilt for choice when it comes to “whose turn is it to cook tonight”? Generally it isn’t mine – 23 years hard labour in my first marriage, now happily married to a guy who loves to cook – but who also doesn’t need convincing to eat out.

We dined at Kappy's this evening with friends. I ordered the fillet steak with fiery pepper sauce and grilled vegetables (pictured). My partner had the seafood pizza (also pictured). Our dining partners had the chicken parmi with spaghetti bolg (two meals in one) and aranchini balls with grilled veggies. We shared garlic bread and enjoyed wine and coffees. All meals were delicious! I loved my steak which was cooked exactly as I liked it and was thick and tender. The fiery pepper sauce was amazing. My partner's pizza was loaded with seafood and the parmis were a hit. The service was great and we will definitely be back.

With a full stomach of the Linguine Con Granchio (chilli crab pasta with tomato) I'm extremely content, heading into the food coma stage of my night. <br/><br/>Excellent service but most importantly delicious food! Table of five of us. All our meals came out at a reasonable time and the portions were plentiful! So of course I over ate and should have only ate half of my pasta - it was too yummy to waste. Then I HAD to order a dessert, Lemon Custard Profiteroles with burnt sugar & cream, pretty sure it was double cream mmm - pretty good! <br/><br/>My hubby had the Gnocchi Di Patate<br/>with spicy sausage, tomato and olives which he said was tasty. For dessert he had the Crème Caramel which I tried and was devine! <br/><br/>Enjoyable night, I recommend it!
Dave
4 of us visited Kappy's for dinner on a Saturday with high expectations given the reviews. <br/><br/>Despite a great antipasto plate entree and delicious chilli crab and swordfish mains we were still disappointed. An expensive steak was barely edible (we weren't charged for it) and the noise level was at times painful in particular due to an inconsiderate large and raucous table.<br/><br/>We thought that the menu was rather limited and the dishes not particularly Italian. The only risotto was a vegetarian one.<br/><br/>Not recommended if you're looking for an intimate dinner or to be able to hold a conversation with others at your table. That said I did notice smaller tables in a quieter area out the back.

What happened?? Kappys has been my favorite authentic Italian local for years. We went for a family dinner this week and I was sooo disappointed. The beautiful Italian food that used to be on the menu is gone and now it's just bulk 'Australian' Italian food. Carbonara, spaghetti bolognase, parmigiana. We shared a margarita pizza for entree that tasted like it came out of a box from a supermarket. They used to make beautiful scallopini and rabbit dishes, and the menu was pricey but worth it. Now the prices haven't changed but the menu has. Dinner cost a fortune and no one at our table finished their meal. The service used to be excellent and this time it was disappointing. We left having still not had dinner plates cleared and the staff were busy resetting tables that had already left.
Cameron Samuell
A fantastic spot. The pizzas are top notch and the service is excellent. In fact, the service befits a restraunt at twice the price. Definitely check them out. Just great Italian fare.
Mmmfood
Kappys is a very cute little restaurant. The menu doesn't have a huge selection of options, but I always enjoy my meal and I can't fault the service.
Renee
We are Guildford locals and enjoy the old school Itaian experience when we go to Kappy's. My husband and I went for lunch this week and for the first time, we were disappointed. Not with the service or the food which was lovely, but with the new menu and new increased prices. There are only 4 pizzas on the menu now which was a little disappointing as they are delish but my all time fave Veal Parmi is now almost $35! <br/>We decided to share a pizza as it was just lunchtime and we asked for hot sausage and capsicum to be added. We were slugged $5 extra!! <br/>This used to be our go to place when we wanted a yummy meal or even takeaway but I'm afraid it will probably now be a twice a year thing due to the prices.
Sarah
we love this place. Great service and great food. The wood fired pizza is amazing. Nice quaint setting. Cant wait to go back to this local.
Chloejg173
What an absolute disappointment, such a beautiful restaurant/location, but such a let down in the food.I had hot sausage pasta with cherry tomatoes and olives - the pasta was brought from Coles (cheap), maybe 2 tomatoes, son had pizza the base was doey, was not even cooked, we could of had a better one form dominos. It is ridiculously over priced.<br/>I would never go back. Don't waste your money.

Went for dinner with my husband and 2 kids last Friday night for dinner. Was very busy but service was surprisingly fast and the waitresses were friendly. There didn't appear to be a children's menu but after asking the waitress, discovered there were many kids options. Overall, great meal and service & will be coming back.

Very average food & overpriced. Starters were tasty but small & too $. The 'chutney' with the calamari is just cold bolognese sauce. Seafood pizza was great, seafood spaghetti was sitting in watery sauce & a random chunk of chili left my mouth burning. Finally after choosing from the disappointingly small desert menu, the tiramisu is easily the worst I've ever had. Instead of a sprinkling of cocoa powder on the top it had a thick solid layer on top ruining the whole dish with its bitterness. Even after scraping it off the rest was still not a good dish. <br/>All the staff however were very friendly, but a bit slack on asking if wanted anymore drinks & we had to ask for the desert menu.
Natasha Westphal
Excellent, I nearly didn't go with some negative reviews, however wanted Italian! I am so glad we did, it was perfect the setting, the food and the service, could not have had a better night! :-)

Kappy's has been somewhere I've wanted to visit ever since we moved to the Swan Valley. Reading reveiws and people saying it was a little pricey, i was pleasantly surprised by our meals. 3 adults, 3 children having entrees, mains and drinks and all up it was just over $200, and with the entertainment book card, it came down to just under $160. <br/>we started with the bruscetta and garlic bread to share. <br/>The kids had lasange, spag bol and chicken schnitzel and chips. All the kids meals were good sized, although maybe the lasange was on the smallish size. <br/>My husband had the veal scaloppine which was tender and tasty. <br/>My MiL had the chili clam linguini which she enjoyed, and my wood oven roasted chicken was beautifully flavoured.<br/> The MiL said theu have cut down the menu since she was there last, but it is still well rounded and sseems to cover a range of tastes.<br/>If i could say anything negative it was that the service was a little off. They lost our booking and so we ended up on a table that hadnt been cleaned up properly - still crumbs and debris from previous diners, and it didnt get set properly - we were calling for cutlery and serviettes when our entrees were served. <br/>I wish we had visitdd here a lot sooner.

There aren't too many options for dinner on a Sunday night in the Swan Valley or Guildford. A quick check of the Entertainment Book and Kappy's Italian Restaurant came up. <br/><br/>They are situated on Swan Road, near the West Swan Road roundabout.<br/><br/>They have converted an older style home with high ceilings, wood features and fire places into a charming restaurant. <br/><br/>The restaurant has a very warm and welcoming feel, with different types of seating and table set up from the undercover outdoor alfresco to the individual rooms within the restaurant.<br/><br/>The Food:<br/><br/>Beef carpaccio, capers and lemon dressing $14.50<br/><br/>I tried to contain my excitement when the dish was delivered to the table. A generous amount of lemon dressing that wasn't overpowering and the beef was tender and melted in your mouth.<br/><br/>Crumbed Veal Scaloppine with spaghetti bolognese $34.50<br/><br/>A tender piece of veal with lashings of sauce and cheese.<br/><br/>Wood roasted ½ Chicken with lemon, rosemary and chilli $34.50<br/><br/>The chicken was crispy on the outside, moist on the inside and the vegetable served had a light dressing. Delicious!<br/><br/>Dessert:<br/><br/>Custard filled profiteroles with caramel sauce $12.50<br/><br/>Toasted coconut meringue, raspberry coulis and black cherry gelato $14.00<br/><br/>These desserts were beautiful to look at and tasted just as good.<br/><br/>Beverages:<br/><br/>They have a good selection of wines and beers and you can purchase sparkling wine by the glass or BYO $7.50 per bottle<br/><br/>The Service:<br/><br/>Excellent service, very friendly and helpful.

Basically, we eat out every week and are pretty easily pleased yet found this very overpriced, mediocre food, go elsewhere. Overpriced (garlic bread works out to $3 per small slice/$15.00 for 2 adults 2 children), the special of Chicken Tortellini in Mushroom sauce was worse than the packet pasta from Coles supermarket and even then was so undercooked it was doughy - definitely not what you would call al dente...and the sauce which was described as 'creamy' was like water and tasted as much. The only good part of this dish were the mushrooms. The other dishes - veal ravioli $22.50 and chilli crab linguine $34.50 were very good. The ambience is non-existent, some odd music choices and paper 1 page limited menu (taken away as soon as your order) and paper placemat - albeit in red & white Italian style check. Waitresses were very nice, although I did see 3 customers unfortunate enough to have been seated outside have to come inside and gain their attention for service. We were initially directed to seats outside - around the corner on the verandah - until I requested to be seated on one of the many available inside tables.  Only writing this so others will avoid disappointment and try elsewhere.

The best food of old Italy. Family dining by family people for family people..<br/>The best service and tasty food like you recall from many years ago. <br/>Goodonya Kappy's.

Good pasta and good vibes. I wouldn't usually take the effort to write a review of a restaurant that I've visited good or bad however I felt the need after I visited Kappy's on the weekend. Lovely friendly staff, family run with a comfortable atmosphere, It made for a good feed on Saturday. <br/>Big family servings, lovely wood fired pizza with that perfect base, and PERFECT CHILLI CRAB PASTA which I will definitely be returning for. Loved everything! RECCOMEND.
Katrin Meilani
The best restaurant I've ever been so far in Perth, don't know why some writes bad review about this place. The food just perfect, good size with the price we paid. The athmosphere of the place is homey and comfortable. We went there for our annviversary, the staff were helpfull and friendly. I would recomended anyone to try this restaurant.
Charles De Mar
Finally a restaurant that feels like a restaurant!<br/><br/>This little gem and just keeps getting better, the wood fired oven gives a great ambience and the pizzas taste amazing, service was friendly and not intrusive, can't say enough good things about this place, do yourself a favour and get down there quick smart
Biancavn
Unbelievable. I have been to Kappys in Guildford many times, this little restaurant in the burbs has hosted so many celebrity chefs yet the owners never say it. We have seen Antonio carluccio from "two greedy Italians" and the other day we saw Adrian Richardson from "good chef bad chef" I can understand why! Sensational food " grano"
Eating Out
Very,. very mediocre. Very limited menu choice. If you can't eat fish forget it and my partner has an allergy!!! A little expensive for what it was. Have visited Kappy's before and had a very nice meal. Not sure what has happened. The dessert was the best thing of the night and that was only passable but the coffee was extremely bitter. Very disappointed. Will not return. We did use the entertainment card but I am not sure why they are in the Gold section.
Bernard Griffiths
Crappies. Went there on a Saturday night, 16th May 2015. reservation for 5 people.<br/><br/>Service can be summed up in one word poor.<br/>Price Expensive for what is serves up. (We used a entertainment voucher to)<br/>Menu for that night was limited for a italian restaurant.<br/>Corkage on web site says $5 per bottle. on the night it was $7:50 per bottle.<br/><br/>Would I go back not in a fit when there are so many better value places to eat at.<br/>e.g. Padbury's next door which i ate at last weekend. <br/><br/>Cheers Bernard

Five Star✴✴✴✴✴s. We had a fantastic time at Kappy's Italian restaurant Monday night.Celebration my Dad's 75th Birthday.<br/>There were 22 people in our party and every meal that came out of the kitchen was delicious and beautifully presented.<br/>The staff went out of there way to accommodate our group and make us feel very welcome. Even when a couple of people mentioned it was a bit chilly the staff brought out a gas heater to help take the chill out of the air.<br/>We took our own wine and enjoyed the ambience, authentic Italian cuisine and really terrific service.<br/>Thank you and well done Kappy's Restaurant staff.<br/>Can highly recommend.

Piss poor customer service. We decided to have a 21st birthday dinner at kappys restaurant.<br/> In a large group the food came out at all different times, after waiting over an hour for food and My uncles food was forgotten to be put through. Extremely over priced for average food and still left hungry.<br/> We paid over 800 dollars for food plus alcohol plus corkage and cake serving fees. <br/>Extremely disappointed in the service as food was getting packed up infront of me and I was still eating. Leaning over us while eating to grab glasses.<br/>We all Felt rushed to eat and leave so they could finish early. <br/>After leaving the resturant we all were wishing family good bye. <br/>The staff and owner were quick to make judgment and snarly comments but fogot to see where we were standing..... <br/>Next time you want to bitch about paying customers make sure they have left!!! <br/>So rude to here comments after supporting this local resturant. We will NEVER dine here again.

Came to Kappys for the first time last week, and absolutely adored it. Wonderful atmosphere, attentive staff and 100% worth the price. Do not for the life of me understand the negative comments; anyone after a wonderful and authentic Italian restaurant should come here immediately!

Disappointing. My wife and I went out for dinner here the other night and it was disastrous. The food was over cooked and lacked any flavour, especially considering the massive price tag. I would not recommend this to anyone. Service was slow and the waitress seemed disinterested with us being there. 1/10

Still Disappointing. Went to Kappys last night after not being there for a few years, because the old menu never changed and was boring. The menu on their website had a lot of changes so my husband and I thought we would try it again. Well, for starters the web menu was not the one we got. The waitress, though nice, seemed frantic. She took my husbands drink order and forgot to ask me what I wanted to drink. The garlic bread was hard and dry. My husbands starter was fine, but the main meals came out as soon as his entree plate was cleared. We were there for under an hour! My pasta meal was obviously made so quickly the sauce was thin and runny and the whole meal was bland. They also served the coffee the wrong way round. Will not be going back.
Roncooper3
Kappys NOT. This is not the Kappys I once knew. went there today for a evening meal with my family. ordered the chicken penne, wife had hers in a cream sauce, mine in a tomato, daughter order the ravioli , which was supposed to be home made, this was very heavy , our penne was store bought along with the tomato sauce, in fact all the sauces were very thin and watery , paste is supposed to be coated in the sauce not swimming. Also the staff that was doing the waiting could not care, was not once asked how the food was or if we enjoyed it, will not be going back
Alyce
Penne chicken and bacon, TERRIBLE. Watery, bland and wasn't offered but had to request cracked pepper and Parmesan in an attempt to create some taste. Herb and garlic bread is fantastic!
Jet1wa1
Service was great, the food was reasonably priced for the serving size and all the dishes tasted excellent, we will be back
Beatie
Disappointed. I have been to Kappy's several times and enjoyed the food. On this occasion our group noticed the menu had changed and featured more pizzas and pastas than before. Although what we ate was ok it was not up to previous standard. The biggest disappointment was the dessert, nothing on the menu was home made and they had stopped offering their delicious creme caramel which we all loved and it was the only home made dessert. The dessert we ordered was pricey, three bought merangues, cream and a few strawberries. Definatley not gold card standard. Such a shame.
Allprotools
Tad expensive but worth it. I dont mind paying extra for great food out of 6 of us no complaints at all I would recommend and also the meatballs rock!

Went on Monday 15th September to celebrate my partner's mums birthday. Was greeted by the friendly staff who remembered me calling to book. The menu was explained and we ordered calamari and garlic bread to share. Delicious and well cooked. We had seafood risotto (one of the best risottos), veal ravioli with bolognese (delicious) and chicken breast with fresh veg (yum). We were offered an off-menu dessert of home made meringue which was divine. Service was outstanding. Def going back soon

Lovely place for a night out. We came here on a Monday night for dinner with friends, I was initially a little wary when the restaurant appeared to be empty, but within half an hour it filled up nicely which is a good sign for a Monday. The interior is quaint and romantic, I could definitely imagine couples coming here for a date. Although friends and family had reported very mixed experiences at Kappy's, we couldn't have been happier overall with the food and service. We brought a BYO bottle of wine which was handled without drama (and only charged $5 corkage for the whole table), and ordered a range of entrees and mains. The bruschetta were fresh and tasty, the rosemary flatbread with tomato chilli sauce was unusual but delicious, and the field mushroom and parmesan starter was generous and much liked, although I found it perhaps a touch watery. For mains we had 2 specials, capretto (baby goat) braised with vegetables which was meltingly tender, and wild rabbit papardelle which was a huge and tasty serve of a meat which is sometimes hard to get right. A slightly more elegant version of chicken parmi went down well also. By the end of the meal we were all well fed and looked after - the bill was pretty reasonable for Perth all things considered and I'd certainly be back for a special occasion.
Albert.weatherley61
Kappys. Ok the food was quite good but my issue was the billing. The food was priced as high as it could be, $27 for a pizza or pasta is top dollar but the quality was good, but when my bill was tallied there were a couple of extra drinks added to the bill, maybe an honest mistake, I wonder how many times a night that honest mistake is made. Remember to check your bill.
Lulubelle785
Disappointing. Last night at Kappys was quite disappointing. we were sat at a table in a narrow corridor right next to where drink and coffee was prepared and where all the wait staff had to pass by constantly The ciabatta entrée was swimming in oil and quite unpleasant to taste. My husbands barramundi was good but the prawns were raw in the middle and cold. My wood roasted chicken was very dry and over cooked, and the chilli was overwhelming. The accompanying vegetables were also swimming in oil. We complained to the waitress about the food, but no one even came out to address our complaints. Didn't stay for dessert, and I don't think we will be going back again. A real shame because we have enjoyed this restaurant in the past.

You must try the Chilli Crab Pasta! Yum! We also ordered a very tasty Half Chicken along with some beers (a cocktail for myself) and some yummy wood fired garlic bread... Great atmosphere too, we will be back to Kappys soon for sure!

Great Steak, I think the best I have eaten in 6 months. Vegetables had a crispy edge to them which I found quite unique for Perth, and tasted great too. <br/>Would definitely eat again soon!

Stay away unless you want krappy italian. WORST ITALIAN FOOD EVER. I swear some of their fish came from a frozen box and just re-heated. Only thing I'm glad for I was there for an event of an family member AND DIDN'T HAVE TO PAY. I been to some pretty poor Italian restaurants but this takes the cake.

Lovely restaurant. We dined at Kappys on Wednesday 21/5/14 for a family dinner and it was fantastic. We had 7 people and everyone loved their meal. The atmosphere is always very relaxing and I think because it is set in an old house there are different rooms and you don't get lots of noise because of this. I have dined here on numerous occasions and the food and service are consistently good. They have BYO wine which is a bonus and I love the feel of the restaurant. Will be back again soon.

Beautiful dinner at Kappy's tonight, nice relaxed atmosphere and friendly service - you never feel rushed here. Servings are generous as usual and desert was beautiful. We love coming here for family dinners! The place is<br/>BYO, and there's a bottle shop right next door for those not happy with the wine selection. We had a lovely bottle of italian wine and enjoyed it:) Thank you Kappy's.

Not worth the price!. We used to be regulars at Kappys years ago but stopped going as the price rose and the quality went down. We saw in the local paper that they had a new menu so thought we would try it. Kappys has a really great ambience and lovely staff but that's really where it ends. The prices are too high for what you get. Very small portions, very under seasoned bland food. My veal for $36 was tiny, very chewy and tough and really lacked any flavour. Was meant to be served with a wine sauce, instead it was smothered in olive oil. Others had the fish & also said it was very bland. We didn't have dessert as we had already spent a lot of money & really didn't want to try anything else. We all stopped off at McDonald's on the way home as we were starving! Really disappointed and we won't be back again.

Pricey, a bit mean. Although it was a busy evening and nice atmosphere, we found the meals small for quite a hefty price tag; that always grates. Also the wine menu was very minimal for by the glass selection and no wines I knew on the list! Probably won't return.

Another fantastic meal at Kappys. We took our friends for their first meal and they were hooked! <br/><br/>Antipasto and bruschetta to start, seriously the best bruschetta around and our favourite chilli crab pasta and grilled half chicken<br/><br/>Service once again was friendly and attentive, not intrusive, Kappys never disappoints!

Fresh food. Always a stand out meal - have been eating at Kappys in various locations for over 20 years which speaks volumes - as we eat out regularly tend to be choosy but the attitude & food at Kappys will never disappoint - top 10 in our book
Strawberry Shortcake
REALLY bad attitudes - was once told, when dining with my son and tried to order a milkshake 'no we don't do that sort of thing, if you want that kind of food please go to a cafe'. Perhaps I will next time Kappy's. Perhaps I will.

Kappy's Never Disappoints. I've always found Kappy's to be consistent in their excellent food and good service. I have would recommend it to anyone.

Great night out. Another great meal, this place never ceases to satisfy. The food is always top notch and the service great. I have eaten here regularly in the last few years and since the introduction of the wood fired pizza oven it has added an extra dimension to the the dining experience.<br/>There is something for everyone's taste and budget on the menu, I can highly recommend taking a trip to Guildford for a great taste of Italy.

Very disappointed. Went on Friday night for a family function. Poor service very expensive and poorly cooked food. The grilled calamari were inedible and when the waitress came and collected my untouched plate there was no comment or asking if anything was wrong. Also a salad that was brought to the table consisted was some iceberg a a couple of tomatoes and cucumber. And charged $10.50 for it! Not even 2 star quality with 5 star prices. Will not be returning.

Dissapointing. Took my girlfriend on Valentines when everyone else was booked they said they had a cancellation. Arrived at 8pm & there were empty tables everywhere outside.(not a good sign I thought). No one met us when we walked in didnt appear to be any reception area finally someone showed us to table which was right in the middle of the veranda people lining up to pay there bill right in front of us. I ordered the steak for main medium rare &it came out welll done & dry so I sent it back only to be given another well done steak but not quite as dry as first. I gave up after this no pepper on table had to ask for cracked pepper. No topping up your wine & even though didnt seem that busy no one seemed to want to serve you basically service was worst ive experienced. Then on top of that food was overpriced for what you got definately wont be re visiting

My partner and I visited last Saturday night- very disappointing. The best part of our meal was the oysters Kilpatrick ($4 each) and the garlic bread. I ordered the seafood risotto for main, which was watery and very bland. My partner ordered the breaded veal with prosciutto- fancy way of saying it was actually a parmigiana that was coated in what could only be described as Heinz tinned tomatoes. Really disappointed that we ignored the previous bad reviews.

Underwhelming Overpriced. Went to Kappy's Saturday night with friends, felt dubious after reading urban spoon reviews but went with an open mind. Should have found an excuse not to go. 3 star food at 5 star prices. To pay $32.50 for what should be a $14.00 dish is beyond our comprehension..Do yourself a favour....don't bother.

Typical Perth. Unfortunately, this place will be joining my list of grossly overpriced, poor value Perth restaurants. If you pay the better part of $40 for a pasta, it should be amazing...Instead-it was an average tasting oily mess (when I say oily, I mean the bowl had about a centimetre of bright orange oil in the bottom...just looking at it made me regret eating it and feel nauseated). <br/>Also, I have a major Italian food hangover this morning (no I didn't drink)...normally associated with eating poor quality Chinese food. There, I said it.
Benjamin Riches
If my meal was $17 I would have loved it and enjoyed it. But it was $29 so it was average.

Missing the R in the name. Not a pleasant experience. When booking we weren't offered the option of dining inside, were unaware that this existed until after we had eaten in the noisy, mosquito infested front area. <br/>Food was disappointing, main wasn't close to an acceptable temperature. Waitperson was toxic and took the liberty of rounding the account up to the nearest $10......
Blkbetty
Bruschetta was great. Ordered the house special roasted chicken. Too much chilli for my liking. Ginger pudding was better....great atmosphere though.

Guildford Gem. "Kappys Italian" is truly a fabulous find, situated at 120 swan st. Guildford, just down the road from the "Rose & Crown Hotel" and the new friendly café/restaurant "Little Guildford" <br/>Kappys has excellent Italian food at very reasonable prices, a few of us ladies went there for lunch last Friday, the place was full of local business men but we still felt very comfortable, no leering cooperate types, just nice men. The food was fresh and tasty and the service spot on, we are defiantly going to make this place our regular spot!

Mamma Mia. Here we go again!<br/>What I thought was going to be another run of the mile Italian restaurant really surprised me and all my eleven guests the other night. "Kappys" Italian in Guildford was brilliant. The staff were all friendly, efficient and I must mention this all where very clean and neat attire a rarity these days in any restaurant, no piercings or visible tattoos there.<br/>Now the food. what can I say a successful restaurateur once said that the secret to a good restaurant is first the service, second the ambiance and if the food is good its a bonus, well "Kappys" food is a bonus, everyone on our table just raved about it! Steaks perfectly cooked, chilli crab pasta out of this world, all our dishes where perfect, and the prices too, I could not believe it was around $50 per head with drinks "Kappys" put us down for more.

Food, Service, Ambiance: Number One!. This restaurant has got it all. I cant believe that we have only just found this place! the waitress told me that they have been in business 32 years, they must be doing everything right. <br/>No hype about this place its all real, The night we went it was standing room only, people coming and going all looking really happy. I cant understand how they do so well without any advertisement. I guess word of mouth still rules, 'Kappys' is now our favourite restaurant. Awesome!

Try Everything!. I was reluctant when my friends introduced me to this place but I've been back many times since and recommend it highly to all my friends.<br/>The place is quiet easy to find, being around a few other pubs, restaurants and hotels.<br/>Every time I go, I get the wood roasted chicken that comes with tasty fresh vegetables (its a must try!) They are always very consistent with there servings and plate them up generously. <br/>I would defiantly recommend the tiramisu for dessert!

YUKKK. Wow what a horrible restaurant! From the start we were being served by 4 different people, and none of them knew what each other had done or ordered. They got the entrees wrong (of course). The bruschetta was very plain & tasteless, and was absolutely SWIMMING in a pool of oil. The garlic bread we ordered for the table was the same, laying in a huge pool of OIL!<br/><br/>When the mains come out...<br/>--- The seafood risotto was horrible. The prawns were obviously bought pre-cooked, and were WAY overcooked by the time they reheated them. They also had the poo-chutes in a lot of them. The calamari was also way overcooked and obviously pre-cooked prior to service. The mussels were the same and a few weren't open.<br/>--- The Fish was UNDERCOOKED & came with a white sauce. Again there was this disgusting pool of OIL it was laying in. WITH A WHITE SAUCE??? HUH???<br/>--- The chicken, again, had a pool of oil under it. What the hell???<br/><br/>If this place thinks an attempt to cook & serve authentic Italian food means to drown everything in oil, then they are sadly mistaken.<br/><br/>It might help to use fresh ingredients too. You can't charge that amount of money for pre-cooked prawns etc, then overcook them. Or to undercook what used to be a beautiful piece of fish.<br/><br/>None of the food was nice at all, and our complete table of 6 left very dissapointed. Needless to say none of us will EVER return again.

"Kappy's is like going home". My Family and I have been going to Kappys Italian Restaurant since 1980, when I was five, I still remember always getting excited when we were to go! Now I am 37yrs old and I still get the same feeling taking my own family there. What is incredible is that they have been the same owners all this time, quiet incredible! but then I guess they deserve their success.<br/>The food? Try everything!!

We recently went to Kappys Restaurant and we were extremely impressed from the moment we walked in. The service was second to none, with the waitresses being so lovely, friendly and helpful!<br/>We started off with the bruschetta, and it was the nicest bruschetta we've ever eaten. I had the chilli crab spaghetti which was so tasty and moreish, My husband had the spaghetti with chilli squid which he would not stop talking about! We just enjoyed everything about Kappys and will defiantly be coming again soon!<br/>Thanks Kappys

Truffles at Kappy's. Last friday night my partner and I went to Kappys in Guildford, neither of us had been there before, we often drove past on our way to the Rose & Crown Hotel which we love. We could not believe the level of service and quality of the food that we received. I would match it with any of those high profile restaurants from the city.<br/>I have to mention the pasta with black truffles, we had never eaten truffles before and we were blown away, only $29.50 I couldn't believe the price! if you haven't tried Kappys you really should!!

Avoid Krappy's. We ordered a pizza from the specials list. It came with the wrong toppings but we persisted anyway. Half an hour later after we'd finished (we didn't finish it all as the crusts were indigestable) a man came over to us and complained that specials only applied when you ordered 2. He then started to tell us how much everything cost in such a rude manner that we said we would leave. As he left he cursed us under his breath. The wait staff confirmed that this rude man was indeed the manager. When we enquired about the mix up with the specials they told us the conditions were stated on the board out the front. We asked why we weren't told about this when we ordered and the answer was some rude mutterings and a turned back.<br/><br/>We were both incredulous, we'd never encountered such a bad attitude in Australia.<br/><br/>Certainly we'll never go back....ever.

WORST SERVICE EVER & BAD FOOD. I have NEVER been abused by the owner of a restaurant for not ordering enough to pay the costs of cleaning the tablecloths... until tonight. My husband and I work in the city and live an hour or so out, so we regularly look for lovely restaurants to grab a bite to eat on the way home. THIS WAS NOT ONE. We inadvertently ordered a special that did not cost enough for the owners liking, when shared by two people. We were not advised this by the wait staff, which I pointed out after we were berated publicly by the owner, to be told "not my problem... whatever!". CHARMING. The food was awful anyway, and we were not given what we ordered in the first place. DON'T RISK BEING ABUSED.... STAY AWAY!

Impressive!!!. I have read some of the reviews for Kappy's and was in two minds whether or not to go. I decided to book a reservation with my fiancé last Saturday and had a wonderful time. The maitre d' was very friendly and gave us the choice of sitting inside or outside, and we chose outside. We sat next to the woodfire oven and decided to order a pizza Bianca. It was just beautiful, and we were pleasantly surprised as the pizza chef looked no older than 17. I then ordered the fillet steak and my fiancé ordered the chilli crab pasta. Both of these dishes were packed with flavour and were simply delicious. We couldn't fit dessert, but we saw the ginger pudding go out to the table, and it looked very tempting. We were also given ample time to order our meals and we didn't feel rushed at all, for a busy Saturday night. Overall i was so impressed with the food, ambience and service that Kappy's provided, and recommend for all who want vintage italian cuisine!!!

It's all about the Ambiance. The biggest thing Kappy's has going for it is atmosphere and ambiance. Warm, welcoming staff, gorgeous 'house' style resturant in good location, seating in the French style, and a limited menu showing hot, tasty dishes.<br/><br/>The food is good. Not awesome, but tasty and good. The portions are large, even a little too large, but served with generosity not sloppiness. <br/><br/>We had liver (I know, but I love liver!) and the special chowder for starter - liver was tender and tasty, swimming in a flavoursome dark sauce, the chowder was a little bland, but full of clams.<br/><br/>Mains we had hot sausage risotto and chilli crab pasta - very large portions, we both couldn't finish and we actually took them home.. Pasta was delicate and had lots of crab, it was good. Note - Parmesan was grated on top was a bit like the stuff you buy in a supermarket? It wasn't but shaved would go a long way. :). Risotto was very heavy but full full full of man flavour! Same note re Parmesan he too. Strange note - we were never offered black pepper and no pepper in shaker either?<br/><br/>Dessert was an awesome, obviously homemade shared piece of tiramisu - strangely the only small portion all night!<br/><br/>Prices VERY reasonable, $127 for 2, $5 corkage, vintage wine shop next door, great date venue, go for the friendly warm atmosphere, great winter resturant.

We'll be back!!. I took my wife to Kappys about a week ago, we had the half chicken which was extremely tasty and the crab pasta which was packed with flavour. We started the meal with some bruschetta also. We were surprised at the generous servings we got for the price of the meal, you dont see that too much these days, we have already booked a table for us and our friends for next weekend, do yourself a favour and get to Kappys!!

Would not reccomend. Expensive for what you get and pasta sauce was watery. My friend ordered the special which included sun dried tomatoes and artichoke. There was no artichoke and fresh tomatoes instead of sun dried.
