This little Korean shop is definitely worth the visit.
Service is excellent and very accommodating. When we asked about the spicyness of the food, our waitress is very helpful to explain how spicy it is which helps heaps on making our decision.
So for food, oh my gosh, they are quick, fresh, hot and delicious! Everything is as per describe as per menu and look and smell amazing! Pricing wise, it is pretty standard with most of the Korean place. So I can't complain.
Overall, this place definitely is worth the try and will be back for more!
Went here with our friends. It is a bit far away from our home so we didn’t have a chance to try it. It is famous for the spicy rib pot so they ordered one. Korean fried chicken is also a must try dish. I ordered the traditional mixed rice which was also amazing!
Just absolutely beautiful food! I have been twice now - both times myself and my friend were warmly welcomed and quickly seated. Our orders were taken as soon as we were ready and the food arrived quickly. Every meal we have had there has been cooked to perfection and delicious. Last visit we were the only westerners in there :) The local Koreans appear to love it just as much. Fantastic value for money! My only gripe would be that there is not a lot of room in the restaurant so you are very crammed in - getting out can be quite an operation :) But other than that - I really do highly recommend it!
I love Arirang!!! Can't get enough of their little condiment dishes with kimchi, pickled radish, angel noodle salad etc.... My sister always orders the glass noodles, and I always seem to be ordering pork &rice. Great value, and great as a lunch spot! Gets crowded in the evenings.
Located in suburb Canberra, great Korean food. Impressed by seafood pancake and beef pot. Reservation is a must because there are always a lot of people ha
I love this place! They have great service and the food is lovely. There is nothing like a spicy pork soup on a cold winters day. You know it is great when plenty of local Koreans also dine there.
Friendly service. Fresh ingredients and food. Clean and hygienic. Definitely worth a try. Small dishes are an additional bonus to the dining experience.
Great staff, fast service and consistent quality Korean food. It is great to come and grab a bite. Parking is easy and reserving a table on a busy Sunday was super fast on the phone.
My friend V and I decided it was time to head far North-side to try out some food. It was a cold winter weekend, so hot Korean food seemed like a good idea. We walked into Arirang Korean restaurant in Gungahlin (no booking made) and there were a few spare tables available. After sitting down, a plastic water jug and plastic cups were immediately provided. The restaurant is small and probably only seats about 30 people – this made it nice and cosy that cold day. The menu looked enticing with plenty of soups, stews, noodles and rice dishes mostly around the $12-$17 mark. Dishes that are spicy are characterised with either one chilli or two chillis next to the name. The Chef’s Specials range from $25 to $55, considerably more expensive than the other dishes. I did notice that a couple at another table were sharing a very large hotpot / steam boat between them so I’m guessing that’s the reason behind the higher prices (it’s a serve for two). But I’m just guessing, best to ask staff. Korean Fried Chicken, around the $35 mark (again quite expensive), comes five ways – original, hot and crispy, spring onion, sweet chilli and boneless sweet chilli.
Back again for dinner and I highly recommend the kimchi stew. Well priced and great flavors. I will be back again and again! you can't go wrong with Korean BBQ.
Cheap & cheerful. I heard somehwere that Arirang is run by the same family as Kokoro -- if so, it is very much the little sister restaurant. Nice, informal & cheap with friendly staff.
Lives up to the reviews.. I was a little scared that the positive reviews on here would falsely give me exaggerated expectations. But I really enjoyed my meal from Arirang. It began with the small touches: they called me back to confirm my booking the afternoon before. I was happy with the choices of tea, and with the scope of the menu. If I were to go back right now, I would definitely want to have the korean pancake (delicious). The healthy serves of banchan are great too. And the staff are welcoming.
Yummy and good value!. The food is great. I'm Korean-Australian and this place satisfies my Korean food craving very nicely. The best Korean restaurant in Canberra, in my opinion. Good value for money too, given the delicious banchan.
New Korean in Gungahlin. This place opened a month or two back and I headed there for lunch on a weekend.
Had the pork dumplings which were decent but could be better. Followed it up with a beef bibimbap which was great, accompanied by complimentary banchan (small side dishes) and miso soup. The bibimbap ran about $14 or so and that would definitely be enough for lunch, particularly with the banchan and soup.
The food came out very quick and the service was very friendly, it seems to be a family run affair.
Will definitely return.
The wait staff were very responsive and friendly. The food tasted amazing and was kept constantly warm through a portable stove or a hot plate. I can't wait to come back and try more dishes from this restaurant.
Arirang offers authentic Korean at a cheap price. On a past occasion we've had a substantial feast here for no more than $20 each, not forgetting the free condiments that come with every meal. I personally like the value for money at Arirang, and apart from the fantastic food, this was one of the many reasons I returned
Quality has stayed consistent over the years, it's very dependable. We had to order in a hurry as the kitchen was closing. The prawns entree was mostly thick batter and very little prawn. The chicken donburi was middle of the road. The beef on a hotplate was good. Big serves, very filling.
They tried to shoo us away by printing the bill and placing it on the table. I didn't get time to eat, so below are pics of the takeaway.
Would still recommend ++ .
Loved the hot soups here at Arirang Korean Restaurant! These hot soups were especially good on a cold ❄️ day and really warms you up.
We had ordered #44 and #46. The Beef Bulgogi soup and the Fish 🐠 roe with seafood in anchovy soup.
The Beef Bulgogi soup was rich and tasty. There was enoki mushrooms and glass noodles in it. Overall, a very lovely soup, however it can a bit oily.
The Fish roe with seafood soup had a lovely vermilion colour to it. It was filled with clams, mussels, shrimps 🦐, tofu, beansprouts and parsley. Overall it was a satisfying dish, however there were some bits which I couldn't tell what kind of seafood it was. Refer to the picture with the spoon. I think what would make this dish better is to make it into a kimchi seafood soup.
The side dishes were great!! We had three helpings of them.
Overall:
Food: 8/10
Service: 8/10. The staff were attentive and polite.
Ambience: Casual place for a meet up with friends. Great place for hot soup on a cold day!
Definitely a hidden gem in Gungahlin, such a big portion of the dishes and yum like paradise.. Suddenly becomes a big fan of this little warm Korean restaurant!
Was here tonight for dinner, my go to is the kimchi fried rice with spam and Samgye-tang. I personally love this combo! it goes well during winter. You get 3 different side dishes here, the pickles and kimchi is great!
This place is medium size, i think it fits between 20-30 people so you may want to book ahead just in case! I was here around 7ish and it was a full house on a Monday night.
The service is standard but nice enough, i haven’t tried the other dishes yet but would definitely come back again.
Super tasty food, generous portion. Highly recommend.
I really liked this restaurant. Nice, polite staff. The food was excellent and delivered in good time. The restaurant has a nice ambience, although the constant pop music was a little annoying after a while. I would definitely eat there again.
