Great pie! Good tarts too! Forgot to take a pic as we dug into them right away. Service was quick and efficient.

Great little cafe The coffee is good, but the tarts and cake are outstanding

I try their original and passionfruit portugese tart with French doughnut (which is similar with choux pastry filled with cream) all 3 were good.

Visit this store as I was in the area. Had a great range of Portuguese tarts. Purchase a bunch of tarts for a meeting. Everyone enjoyed them.

The quality has significantly dropped - ordered several original tarts and the pastry was chewy and undercooked, & nothing like it was before. Apparently new owners have taken over 3mths ago - hoping they get the old recipe back!!

I will concentrate on the product..... we used the nanna’s rolls for our beef and onion ring rolls. The beef was sous vide for 9 hours and served in a Nanna’s roll with a beer cheese sauce poured over, the rolls were perfect choice for this- great product

Excellent local for pastries and coffee (our local was textbook boulangerie). Loved the chicken and veg pie, such quality ingredients and classic flavour. Portuguese tarts were good too, creamier compared with Royal or sweet Belem and equally good pastry. Also enjoyed the coffees and other pastries. So excited to have a quality bakery nearby!

The owners is one of the rudest people and it blows my mind that he still receives any business. He isn’t afraid to aggressively shout at his customers if he is stressed, and the man gets stressed if he has to make more than two coffees. The food is really yummy as I have to give credit to that, but I don’t think people should be supporting this business, if you want a coffee I’d suggest just going next door.

Where it looks everything is made with love and hard work. Also noticed that owners are there from the opening until closing, very good hard working people serving really good food.

The Barista is an arrogant moron who thinks he owns the only Cafe on Gymea Bay Road. As if! We as paying customers, are the ones who control where we spend our money!

Great Portuguese tarts - big and small ones. They even offer a few different flavours to keep it interesting. The classic is the best, though.

Service is really good. They're always very nice and helpful here.

One of the best Portuguese tart I’ve tried.
This review is for the pop up stand at town hall.

Venue:
The galleries

Service:
Good, quick and friendly.

Food & Drink;
Portuguese Tart, normal size, $5
So many fragile to choose from, original, salted caramel, etc.
see option on the display.
Salted caramel layer on the bottom of tart and top with classic Portuguese egg tart mixture.
What an afternoon treat!

I like their coffee but not so keen on the lack of people skills from the owner/barister today, 1st March, 2019.
Not sure if I'll be returning, as there are plenty of choices with better manners.

The best tasting Portuguese tarts I have experienced. Crispy pastry filled with a whole heap of delicious egg custard. Also serve up white horse coffee which is an amazing added bonus!!

Omg I’m so addicted to this Portuguese tart. Thought wasn’t that tasty since was cold, it was turned out soo soooo nice, next time going to warm it up before eating.

They had a pop up store in the CBD, so I got a Portuguese Tart back to the office for afternoon treat. It was probably too cold to eat straight away, but once it was warmed up in the microwave it was completely irresistible! Inside the soft pastry & brûlée top, the custard in the middle was googy & smooth, just right sweetness level, so that it's satisfying without being an indulgent. It was a bit pricy, but will definitely get another 1 or 2 or 3 if I ever see them again!

The best cafè in Gymea! Awesome food, authentic portoghese! I love the quality of their products... I strongly suggest cappuccino and croissant.

This small bakery serves wholesome sandwiches with good quality bread + delicous Portuguese tarts (soft creamy custard centre and crisp pastry edges)! Keen to go back and try their other sweets and savoury pastries. They also do a decent coffee and chai latte. Definitely worth a visit.

A new low in customer service.
Strange to feel unwelcome in a cafe, thankfully that doesn't happen often.
Won't go here again as there are many other nearby options.

This is best place to eat in Gymea . Everything is baked fresh every morning. The Portuguese tarts "Natas" are delicious it's possible eat only one. The bread are so good and sandwiches are so good. Highly recommend.

Tried these beautiful little Portuguese tarts while I was in town for the Beer and BBQ festival! Available in salted caramel or hazlenut ( I got SC), the flaky pastry and nice soft baked custard worked beautifully. The bitter sweet caramel was a great offset to the rich custard.

They had a pop-up stall at the Miranda Westfields so we decided to try one of their custard tarts and we were not disappointed.

Crispy and flaky pastry with delicious custard filling, with a sprinkling of cinnamon by the lovely staff. Absolutely delicious! I would definitely pop into the bakery just for these bad boys. Highly recommend.

There is a homely feel about the Portuguese Bakery (Padaria). It reminds me of a village icon and on top of that it is pretty dressed up as well. The aroma of fresh loaves, muffins and buns in the early morning is something we appreciate especially on a cold winter's dawn. The smile from the staff adds to the atmosphere of welcome and then there are things to choose for different times of a busy day, whether it is a heart warming croissant, a naughty Portuguese tart or a loaf to take home before the place winds up for the late afternoon.

Delicious tarts, good with coffee at their outside tables or take away.
The other sweet items all looked lovely but the breads are great! The sourdough and loaves at the back are so yummy, a nice treat since the price of the bread is out of what I can afford regularly.

It was a Sunday morning but there didn’t seem to be a shortage of people queueing in the small store. We got half a dozen of Portuguese tarts as well as two coffees and sat outside. The tarts were sweet and eggy and delicious all round, but I would have preferred it if they weren’t just warm. I was going to save a couple for later, but the next thing I knew, I’d eaten 4 of them. These tarts are dangerous. Must resist.

Best Portuguese tart!. Today I bought bread and a dozen of Portuguese tarts.
Definitely fresh and tasty. Thank you!

The best Portuguese tarts in Sydney. Was a Sunday morning driving through Gymea, thought to myself is today the day that I will stop at The Portuguese Bakery. Today I'm so happy that I did!
They have the best Natas the way the Portuguese call them ( Portuguese Tarts) in Sydney!
The bread is amazing, especially the 90% water.
The staff is great and the owners are amazing, people with a great story.
Thank you for sharing your tradition with us.
xxx

Best Portugese Tart in town. I work in the local area and very much look forward to coming down at least once a week to the Portuguese Bakery for a Portuguese Tart and Brioche Roll. Firstly, this is one of the best Portuguese Tarts I've ever had the pleasure of tasting, nice eggy center with crisp and sweet pastry. My colleagues and I are always greeted with a smile and the service is consistently good. Unfortunately the same can't be said about all of the cafes in the immediate area. Highly recommended!

Best bakery in the area. Love their bread, Portuguese tarts and service. Definitely one of the best place in the shire to have a bite to eat in terms of quality.

Shocking service. This was my second time to this establishment. I brought my sister there with me so she can try the custard tart. Unfortunately both tarts had still uncooked pastry and did not taste good. What is not too big deal but I spoke to the men behind the counter about our discovery. He was shockingly rude and basically through money at me. He made a massive drama about this and put the whole blame at me. Sister and I had a lough about this juvenile behaviour and will not return there again. On the up side the next door cake shop looks much better. If you have a choice go there instead. Regards, Karo

Simon Food Favourites review. Tried a regular sized Portuguese Custard Tart ($2.50) which was very nice. Good eggy flavour and nice pastry. Would be considered their signature dish as they make so many of these. Service was friendly and fair amount of seating. Lots of other tempting cakes, pastries and breads on display. Seems like a great addition to The Shire and Gymea.
