Stopped by for a coffee in my travels. The coffee was quite nice. I had Chai Latte. The layout of the place was really good and a real country style. The only slight criticism is that being a first timer into Gympie I was asking questions and seeking conversation with staff to a rather dryish response. One gentleman quickly saw this and got into a conversation with me which I appreciated and the service was first rate after that :) was

This is a lovely cafe with delicious looking food items, but they must have been having an off day when I went there for lunch last week. The gentleman in front of me had his coffee order made incorrectly and they had to remake that, and then I ordered an egg and lettuce sandwich and a mocha to take away, but when I opened the sandwich to eat it, I was annoyed to find it had been made as curried egg, even though the instructions were passed on to the kitchen staff correctly. We all have off days occasionally, and the sandwich, although not what I had wanted, still tasted good and the mocha was tasty. I will give them another go, but will definitely check my order before leaving the store next time if taking it away.

Very interesting decor with a long history. Food and service were very good and reasonably priced. We tried one of the other popular cafes Mama Dees in the main street but they refused to make our lunch as they wanted to pack up early despite all their signage stating their kitchen was open for another 20minutes. But their loss was our gain as The Brown Jug was only to happy to make our lunch. I will recommending the Brown Jug to my friends. Will definitely go again when we are in Gympie
