I was brought here to have a dessert after dinner and I loved this place! They have a wide choice of pastries and desserts. We ate a pastry with jam, one with chocolate and an amazing cheesecake. They closed at 10pm so we had to leave, otherwise we would have stayed longer.
Xihuahua š¶ took me to her lovely nanās home for xmas party. I bought a 8 people tiramisu cake here for the party. It is the best tiramisu I have had in Sydney. So smooth and refined. Like Tony said: āItsa butifu!ā. I think the topping are way too sweet and the staff work in slow motion. They got some massive croissants for only 2.35. Also I got a fancy panettone which I have eaten yet.
The signature ricotta cheesecake is the best cheesecake Iāve ever had! Definitely recommend it!
As for the restaurant food, the pizzas bases were quite thin and toppings not as plentiful as other pizza joints . The gnocchi flavour was very nice, however, portion size was small.
Tried a few different cakes here. Sometimes I find the cakes can be overly rich which makes it difficult to get through even a small slice but I cannot fault the quality of the desserts here.

Packed on Saturday night. Very hard to get a table. It's not a wait your turn kind of place as there's noone to take your name. Once you see a table you need to swoop and claim.
This place does the best ricotta cheesecake and gelato.
I am in love with their cakes and pastries.
Cheese cake is yum. As I took a spoon of their cheese cake into my mouth itās was so smooth and so tasty that I canāt tell you in words. Place that you must try at least once.

Yummy Margherita Pizza, good service, delicious pastries and cakes. Only critique I have is the bruschetta. My sister and I thought it was bland and there were too many cherry tomatoes which makes it awkward to eat on a sloppy base. Would definitely go back, especially after seeing the breakfast menu. Waffles or pancakes? Perhaps both! š¤¤
Ricotta everything please! This place is the best patisserie in town. The place is delightful and the staff are friendly. Itās quite confusing to choose what you want cause thereās always so much of everything and it all looks (and tastes) exquisitely good. My favourites are the ricotta cheesecake and the baci Di dama lungo.
Theyāve got a great system here. There is a big queue, but everyone lines up near the cake window, so you have plenty of time to view delicious sugary creations.
Today we went with the profiteroles and chocolate canoli. We liked the profiteroles much more.
Service is a little scattered, it was hard to get their attention, and it took ages for someone to remove the previous customers dirty cups and plates and to wipe down our table when we sat down.
That aside, the desserts here are very good.

Fantastic place with a lovely and friendly ambiance and of course some delicious bites.
You canāt help but admire the beautiful cabinets of cakes, cannolis, fresh bread, olives and Italian cured meat. If the smells donāt blow you away you know for sure your eyes will have a field day at looking at the yummy morsels.
I enjoyed some beautiful coffee, mushroom pizza, salami pizza, prosciutto panini, big papas breakfast, vegetarian focaccia, sponge cake and a mixed box of delicious little cakes and tarts.
I went with a group of friends so I was able to take a bite of everything and it was just mind blowing.
The stand out had to be the prosciutto panini which was overflowing with the beautiful cured meat and a crisp crunch to smack you in the face.
This place is a must go to!!

We love papa's! Super busy though on a Sunday. We bought some take away as well as the passionfruit cheesecake too to share with the family. Whilst the line is long, staffing was great and it all moved pretty quickly. We only had dessert here but would love to try the lunch menu.
Happening place no matter when you go. Great place for deserts late night after a dinner at many of the great restaurants close by. This place has an amazing range of all types of deserts.. Loads to take away as well. Staff could be a bit more friendly but we went late on Thursday and they seemed tired. Must visit this institution
A favourite cake shop of mine. Very indulgent but those cheesecakes are so amazing. Have been to this cafe a few times and it's very large space with plenty of tables and seats.
If you're in the area, it's always great for a treat.
Delicious Italian style pastries which will satisfy your Italian cravings accompanied by lovely coffee. Be prepared to have to line up or wait the place is packed but worth the experience. I have tried quite a few of their pastries and loved the tarts.
I freaking love pasticceria papa! Everything they make is soo good! I love their ricotta cheesecakes! Not overly sweet but soo freaking tasty! The nutella filled ricotta cheesecakes are my fav! I love that the ratio is even, nothing overpowers each other. Their ricotta is always fresh and doesnāt taste or look clumpy - its a smooth texture! Always coming back to try more of their stuff! Prices are reasonable and service is good! They definitely need to expand more as their store locations are quite far from where i am. But definitely give them a try, you wonāt be disappointed!
The best answer in Sydney to Melbourneās Lygon Street. Some good pasteries, pizzas and coffee. Atmosphere is great. It may not be up to Brunettiās standard yet but at least it can remind us.
One of my favourite spots in Sydney for an amazing coffee, or some authentic Italian desserts. Stepping into the cafe, there are so many choices and it's definitely a challenge to not buy more than you intended (I still do every time). All the desserts are really affordable, super yummy and I've been here countless times. Something I recommend to EVERYONE is their famous ricotta cake- Nutella or the original, simply incredible šš
We celebrated Motherās Day here and it was an amazing experience. The ambience is classy yet comfy. Among all the really well cooked and delicious dishes, the rivioli and porcini pizza are my favorite. The chocolate mousse is so smooth and rich yet not overly sweet and goes well with their aromatic black coffee. Canāt wait to come back and try the other menu items.
There is an overwhelming selection of desserts in the cases, making it very hard to leave without buying more than you thought you would. Bought the ricotta cheesecake and a vanilla cannoli to takeaway. The cheesecake is so fluffy and creamy, it literally melts whilst the base provides a contrast to the inside. The cannoli was decently crunchy but had an oily taste to it. Also ordered a scoop of nutella cheesecake gelato and strawberry gelato, both of which were very satisfying, and really worth it for $5.
The best pumpkin ravioli E.V.E.R.! However the vegetarian pizza was a let down - just eggplants and red peppers on a thin base, too less cheese (May be too authentic for my palate). However, they gain huge points from me on hospitality - they were happy to customise items, if only I could explain myself better!
Their cakes and coffee section is on point too. Great Tiramisu, almond croissant and chocolate horn/roll.Ā

How have I not already reviewed this place... it's my favourite dessert place in sydney. The prices are fair and the quality is great. Only downside is they really should have a better system in sitting people down. Have a timeframe perhaps. There's nothing more awkward in being left in trying to find a spot to sit down. You see people finished eating and they're talking for ages. When I go in with hubby we go and enjoy dessert and leave. Perhaps have a few express tables and leave the others for those who love to chit chat for hours :) it's a hike to get to this place so taking away isn't that fun eating it in the car lol
Visited the Haberfield outlet to meet up with a friend from Perth. The restaurant is divided into a casual and more formal dining area. As it was only 11am we were confined to ordering from the breakfast menu or items in the display cabinet. Lunch menu only starts at 1230pm.
We had the veal arancini ($5), chicken arancini ($5) and a slice of the sausage pizza ($5.50). The veal arancini was really delicious! Items are heated up for dining in customers. Sausage pizza was ok. We then proceeded with the desserts which is one of the draw card into the restaurant.
We had the three mini cannoli, ricotta cheesecake and mini fruit tart. The cheesecake is one of the best sellers but it was average in taste for me. Same as the others. Coffee was good.
Service was quick. The restaurant was full which added to the buzzing atmosphere.
The place is buzzing with people. Fridge is lined with different kinds of pastries and dessert, you feel like you want to try every single one of them. We came here specifically for the ricotta cheese cake, which a friend has highly recommended. Such an amazing ricotta cheese cake! we bought the small one to take home.
The ricotta part of the cake is creamy and light, whereas the cake is dense and sweet. We LOVED it and we will definitely come again!
Come to this area for business today and find out this spot on street conner. Desserts are fabulous, delicious well done, I gonna invite my friends here for sweets. The only thing is the plates and cups are very old style, as you can see from my pics, but I tell you it tastes 10 times better than it looks!! Nice street view as well, and the sunset is amazingly beautiful today

This place is famous for the ricotta cheesecake. The cheesecake is light and different with the normal cheesecake. I prefer the one with nutella to add extra sweetness. I also love their ricotta cannoliš. Recently, I came here and tried the apple crumble and I really love it! Definitely will come back for more
The best Italian cakes ever. This place has the best ricotta cakes. I can't find find better ricotta in Sydney. It is very cute and nice inside to have cake and coffee.
There is nothing more poetic than to celebrate Father's day at Papa. As you can see in the pictures taken calling them Pretty Delicious desserts is an understatement. They are in fact heavenly yummy.
The Cannoli is devine. My favourite is the chocolate one. Beautifully made with love and not too sweet. The highlight of today's celebration is Papa's Black Forrest cake. I can't believe it took us this long to find out about this piece of heaven. There are seriously no boring bits. Let's start with the macarons. Those who think Adriano Zumbo's version is the best should definitely try this one. It is not too sweet and perfectly portioned. The chocolate crown as I called it are not only superlative in its relative size but also also in taste. If they can choose the cherry which is little more sour it would be 100 pct perfect for me.
If you want to try various Italian sweets then Papa is the best place to go! There are way to many choices at the counter so get ready! The pizzas are also divine too! You can take away or eat in. It's very busy on the weekend by the way...
Not a big fan of tiramisu cakes, but this one is an exeption. One of the best cake ever, the taste was very well balanced, was not too sweet either.

But one suggestion is that they should use black plates. It's cuter! Now it's white.
I first tried Papa's many years ago but it is still my favourite dessert place.

Creamy Nutella ricotta cake- best thing! The Nutella ricotta gelato was yum! The coconut Nutella bigne was okay. The coconut Nutella gelato was better! The food outweighed the customer service as they didn't seem tooā friendly. Busy atmosphere.
I come here often for the great coffee and the amazing desserts. The baked ricotta cheesecake is phenomenal. Best place to pick up a birthday cake too!

Returned to try some desserts and coffee but the iced mocha this time was way too sweet. Iced coffee frappe much better. Their tiramisu cake and cream horn were good.
Really good ricotta cheesecakes are sold here along with a huge variety of other pastries. The ice cream is also very creamy and refreshing with a ricotta cheesecake flavour also being sold here.

I hadĀ really been looking forward to theĀ cannoli and the ricotta cake after readingĀ all the rave reviews. Although they were tasty, I didnāt find them spectacular. In fact nothing we had was spectacular which was a bit disappointing. Perhaps we just came on an off day.
Great desserts. Brilliant gelato. I had the vanilla. The Macaroon and the cannoli were brilliant. The Tiramisu is also brilliant. I can't wait to go back there. I also went to the restaurant and gave that a 4/5. I recommend this place.
A local favourite. I've been here twice. The first time, I couldn't get a table as it was way too busy. Second time around, I was able to get a table, even though it was quite busy. Papa does know best, as the hot chocolate I had says! Their desserts are delicious and tasty. Will be back when I'm in the area.
The cheesecake was amazing. I haven't tried others but it is definitely worth the visit to have their cheesecake. I am not a cheesecake lover but this cheesecake was definitely worth the revisit.

Love the food (read: cakes), hate the crowds. Is this place ever not swarming with people? Came here a few times intending to sit at the cafe with some mates, but it's always packed with people so we end up buying our food to-go instead.
In Sydney, you can spend $65 for four fragile and sophisticated-looking desserts. Unfortunately, we are not talking about that for this week. Instead, we will be talking about one of the best Italian desserts place in Sydneyā¦ and most of their cakes are around $5 or less. Ā How good is that!. For those of you living in Inner West, the name Pasticceria Papa will not sound too foreign for you. Their shop in Haberfield has been around since 1988. They started off as a bread and pastry shop. Now, they have a full-fledged restaurant in addition to the shop.
Great customer service, fresh & tasty food, good atmosphere, reasonable price...
Recommended for main meal and dessert! Their deli section is also very good!

Always fresh, quality Italian dolci. I believe the best in Sydney. There may be a line out the door, but there's a good reason for it! The ricotta cheesecake is a must try and as are the cannoli. Cannot recommend more. Parking around the area is a bit of an issue, but worth it!
This place is prefect for parties or afternoon teas. Have a lot of small tarts and cakes. Most importantly, the cannoli is the best in my view. Just you need to make sure you eat it fresh. It become saggy pretty quick.
I ordered some tarts for my friend's baby shower and got attempted to try its ice coffee. The ice coffee is more like a dessert, have very thick layer of ice cream at bottom and a big cream floating at top. Be aware if you are on diet haha.
This place also have wide range of cakes to select from.
Grew up locally with their infamous ricotta cheesecake. The flavour and texture has remained the same (thank goodness) as this is not something one should go without unless you're lactose intolerant like myself (but I still consume dairy haha).
The outer pastry is thick and slightly dough-like but the inner ricotta is beautifully rich and dense. Dusted with icing sugar, it's one to die for. Highly recommend it.
We also tried the cannoli but it wasn't my favourite as the pastry was a bit soggy in the middle (could be because it's been there all day). Beverages are decent and enjoyable but certainly over priced.
There's also a pizzaria dining area out the back if you want to grab some lunch before dessert or the other way around :)
If you ever need to impress someone or take someone for a nice outing, this is the place :)
OMG. Our dear friend Sina just brought us a box of cannoli and cream puffs from this branch of Pasticerria Papa. Rich, crispy, fresh, unctuous. It's quite a combination of sugar, starch and cream. Indulge in these occasionally, for special occasions, and eat them fresh!
Incredible desserts! Dropped by late on a Saturday night and was thrilled they were still open, with almost all tables packed. Had the ricotta cheesecake with Nutella, and partner had a strawberry cheesecake. Both were light, fluffy, and delicious! Easily the best ricotta cheesecake I've had. Will be back.
Even though it's early evening, that twilight time between afternoon tea and dinner, many of the tables in the cafe/restaurant are occupied, with people enjoying coffee and cake, pizza and gelato.
We're here to enjoy the desserts and order a double cup with chocolate and coffee gelato, a strawberry cheesecake and a vanilla cannoli. Everything is reasonably priced with the total bill coming in at $11.50, which is great value.

Ricotta cheesecake is to die for, I was devastated when they closed over summer! I come here often for my fix. They also made a beautiful croquembouche for a friend's birthday! Highly recommended!
After a renovation papas is now open late nights! Very happy with this - no more disappointments driving by late afternoon. Cannoli and ricotta cheesecake are my favourites. Should really try some of their other cakes and biscuits some time.

Sydney siders rejoice! - Papas are now open late nights.. This is not a drill! I repeat, this is not a drill!
If you haven't yet heard of this inner west icon with the famous beige building and pecan interior, you must be living under a rock. Papas signature ricotta cake is to cheesecake lovers, what cravats are to Matt Preston. They can live without it, but you'll have to drag them away kicking and screaming.
The soft baked crust completely encases a sweetened smooth ricotta filling. Coated in a thick layer of icing sugar there is not much fanfare involved, but what is presented is a delicate, rich, decadent dessert that ticks all the right boxes. I may or may not have inhaled the icing sugar more than once and ended up in a coughing fit.
Cakes aside, Papas also offer an array of sweet treats from tarts, cookies, flans and cannolis. I'm not completely sold on these as they have never been too memorable in my mind. However, that is not to say they are below average. Quite the contrary, the cannolis are crispy, cookies crumbly and tarts short. Unfortunately I just find too many varieties overwhelming at times.
Papas also appear to have a savoury menu for dine-In patrons so might hit that option up next time. Heck, maybe I'll just eat my way from dinner through to dessert!
"Papa knows best" is the motto and he isn't wrong. To this day I've never had cakes or anything that comes remotely close to the taste, texture and quality of Papa and the infamous ricotta cake.
Tonight we came for s delicious Sospiro and some coffees... Definitely the best cakes in Sydney - possibly Australia!
Want the most amazing ricotta cheesecake ever? Want it oozing with nutella? Want a warm cinnamon sugar covered donut filled with nutella? Want it in a giant size for 12 or an individual size if you are greedy like me? Tick tick tick!!! This is one of my all time favourite pasticcerias with its huge arrange of sweet indulgences. No matter what you pick you cannot go wrong! Oh and there is also a huge range of paninis which are just as delicious as the sweets. The porchetta is my fave and a little savoury before an over indulgence of sweets can only mean one thing. Balance.
Fantastic food. We had breakfast here and also bought cakes for later. Very fresh food and amazing cakes. Service could be a little speedier. The ricotta and chic-chip cakes are delicious. Beautiful atmosphere for an outdoor meal. Will be back to taste many more cakes.

Sweet treats ?? It's surrounding in my tummy on every single weekend. The filling of the pastries boom in my mouth . Absolutely amazing . The service was a lil confused because it looks like messed up . The service has to use a new system which is every single staff dealing in their section .

After all the reviews I wasn't expecting the desserts here to be so cheap! Had a slice of the ricotta cheesecake ($4) and it was so light and fluffy and just beautiful! The vanilla donut ($2.40) was lovely and not too sweet. The pistachio Romani biscuit ($2) was nice too- would be great with a good cup of coffee. The hello kitty meringue ($1) was super cute- I couldn't help but get one.
Came on a Saturday afternoon and there was a big queue and the place was pretty packed. Just beware of the wait. :)

Always reliable with a wide selection of sweets and pastures did just about every occasion. Prices are also decent, and service is as friendly and efficient as you could expect considering how busy it can get. This is the best pasticceria in Haberfield now after Sulfaro's closed several years ago. It's a shame as Sulfaro's always did the better ricotta cake. May have to try Papa's again and see if it has improved.
Superb and authentic Italian goodies you can hardly find anywhere else in Sydney! The ricotta cheesecake is the BEST. One of my favourite bakeries in town :)
It is a place where you can experience various kinds of bread. Staff members are kind and understanding of foreigners who don't understand English.

This place has such a cool feel to it. Like a proper olden day diner. There are 'real' Italians running the joint so the array of delicious cakes and sweets are melt-in-your mouth goodies.
Probably best to order a fresh pizza than eating a slice from the display. The pizzas are true to the Italian style: light fluffy base with minimal topping.

Absolutely amazing ricotta cheesecake! This cake is a family favourite of ours for get togethers & celebrations. You can order a whole cheesecake or by the slice. You can also order the ricotta cheesecake with Nutella! Expect to wait in line to order their delicious products but the wait is usually short and well worth it! Very friendly staff too for dine in and take away.
Love the Italian vibes hereā as authentic as can get. Coffee, food & desserts are incredibly good. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Very clean store with seating indoors and outdoors. I canāt wait to come back!
Loved the creamy baked cheesecake and both gelatos (mango, hazelnut)! The sweetness of the cake wouldāve been perfectly balanced with a coffee .. but we arrived at 10pm. Will definitely be back to try other highly reviewed items like the cannoli.
Never disappoints. Delicious cannoli, baked ricotta cheesecake and coffee. We also love the breakfast here. Very good eggs royale on fluffy brioche toast. Itās especially nice to visit around Christmas time when itās packed with families eating in and long lines of people getting takeaway pastries.
Still good after all these years and massive expansion. Lots of parking on the side streets and there is a large cafe to eat in. Take out was still the most popular, with the majority of pastries around the $5.50 mark (mini canolis pictured are $2.20).
I loved the rum baba the best (forgot to take the picture), and really like their canolis. The mini ricotta Nutella cheesecake is good and so was the eclair, I wouldn't order the strawberry pasty again, it wasn't as good as the others
Absolutely awesome 11/10 big Black Forrest cake for 30ppl, reasonably priced at $117 for excellent quality. The dark chocolate spirals ontop were literally the most delicious "icing on the cake". The cake itself was very moist and flavoursome (not like the cheap pathetic dry excuses that other establishments try to palm off as a black forrest cake).
I highly recommend Papa's Black Forrest cake!
