Review Kitchen 2c - Hahndorf

Stopped in for a feed, did not disappoint. The crispy Panini roll was scrumptious, complete with Udder Delights brie! My son enjoyed the wholemeal ricotta pancakes and also had a perfectly cooked bacon sandwich. It was great to see organic drinks, Australian made. The atmosphere is relaxed, the decor suitably "thrown together/recycled shabby chic" with some artwork on the walls for sale. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend.

The waffle is so good if you like crispy waffles and the bread and butter pudding is also great. The drinks are just average.

Had a coffee and scones with jam and cream. They were both delicious and reasonably priced, although scones were slightly small and the cream must have been refrigerated as it was pretty stiff. It was nice, just difficult to spread. Overall it was great though!

What an amazing soup of the day in a chilling day šŸšŸ‚ My friends and I came on a cold day of autumn and did not expect the rain. We fortunately found this lovely little but warm cafe with delicious food and beverage. My soup of the day with a slice of sourdough was especially yummy! This fabulous cafe will be on my list for my next visit!

Had breakfast here. Good sized fresh juices and the zing was very tasty. Had the egg and bacon roll which had lovely relish and 2 eggs.

Super impressed with the friendly service and delicious food at this cosy little cafe. The Cornish pasty was sensation - full of chunky, tasty vegetables wrapped in a flaky, yummy pastry. The coffee was also great and combined with the soup of the day, a perfect way to warm up over brunch whilst exploring Hahndorf

The little coffee shop is quiet cozy, I order bakery toasted caraway with Ricotta & marmalade. And turmeric latte. The deco is lovely, the food was fresh and tasty. We like it. Thank you so much

Great little place to sit and have a nice coffee and a meal including all day breakfast. Staff were friendly and smiling, tastefully decorated and supporting small local business with a little market stand at the entrance as well.

Really love this place. The fire keeps it so warm during these cold days and the coffee makes it even better! The food was delicious and fast! Would highly recommend for everyone to give them a shot if you're in Hahndorf or want to go somewhere new!

Dropped in for lunch and had the Thai Grilled Chicken salad. I'm not a huge fan of salads but I was 100% satisfied with this one! Even though I ordered take-away it still exceeded my expectations! Delicious combination of fresh flavours. Personally would have appreciated more chicken but I'd still order it again. Keen to try a new dish next time I'm in the area. Friendly staff and top food!

Came for brunch with my 2 teenage girls. Staff were very friendly & service was quick. Cafe was toasty warm on a cold winter's day & atmosphere was wonderful. Food was very fresh & tasty. Serves were generous. Tea came in a little pot with a china cup & saucer. Beautiful!!! Coffee was good too. Will definitely call in again when in Hahndorf.

Autumn has arrived Hahndorf, South Australia oldest German settlement located 25 minutes from Adelaide. Mixed with the fresh morning air the mist lifts to a spectacular display of golds, yellows, oranges colours. The good news here in Hahndorf you will be able to enjoy and see the fast development of speciality coffee everywhere. Staff make you feel welcome from the moment you come through the door the hum of day starts with people ordering early morning coffees. CafƩ are embracing the speciality scene and enjoying it. The Kitchen 2 C barista told me they use locally roasted BLK MRKT coffee. By 8.30 am on this cold morning, the cafƩ fills with aroma of freshly brewed coffee. I look forward to exploring this small town cafes in the Adelaide Hills.

Amongst all the meat heavy offerings in Hahndorf lies a little gem, Kitchen 2C. I had a salmon bowl and a squeezed juice and it was extremely tasty. My dad chose a chorizo dish and he was a happy camper too. We sat outside and found the tables and chairs a bit small/uncomfortable but the good food and relaxed atmosphere made up for it.

I have to give a low rating because of their service.

I'm a regular visitor to Hahndorf as it's so close to Adelaide. I have dined at most of the cafes except Kitchen 2C. Last Sunday, after having a heavy lunch, I decided to pay this cafe a visit and bought two take away coffees - one cappuccino, one flat white. When being served, the waitress said here's the cappuccino and here's the latte. I took the coffees over from her and asked, did you just say latte? She quickly said it's a flat white. When I sat outside and opened the lid, there was so much froth in the "flat white" that no one will believe it's a flat white!

It is OK to make a mistake as long as you own up to it, and rectify it. But it is a terrible thing to lie to your customers - this behaviour is not acceptable in any industry.

Coffee itself was OK, nothing to write home about.

However, because of the service, I don't trust what they might serve me next time, I will not return to this cafe.

Delightful little cafe, fantastic food that came out very efficiently, delicious big breakfast and very filling, every aspect was presented beautifully and tasted delicious. Coffee was the best weā€™ve had, kudos to the male barista.

Looks very cool and is in a great spot on the Main Street but thereā€™s nothing outstanding here. Perfectly fine coffee, have been twice, but Iā€™ve got other places I prefer.

Cafe located on the Main Street in Hahndorf. The food is a little pricey (it's a tourist town after all!). Classic food menu, however it doesn't offer all day breakfast dining. We had the housemade fruit toast. It was tasty, and plentiful with dried fruit. Coffee was great. Ordering was a little chaotic.

Had a very pleasant weekend breakfast here. We had the ploughmanā€™s platter for one and the mushrooms on toast. The portion size for the mushrooms were a bit small but very tasty. Good juice options as well

Kitchen 2C is tucked away on the Main Street Hahndorf. I stopped by for lunch, found the menu was varied and interesting. The Cafe has been well organised, with a Cottage theme. Even though lunch time is busy, the service was good, with out a long delay. Enjoyed the coffee, smooth and well made.

Really yummy food that doesn't subscribe to the tourist trend that is prevalent in the area. Nice staff and great coffee too! I had the chicken, mushroom and leak pie; it was delicious.

Gorgeous little cafe on the Main Street on Hahndorf. Friendly and efficient service, delicious food and good coffee. Vegan, gluten free and dairy free friendly. Amazing breakfast menu!! Was had to choose but both myself and partner loved what we had

Fantastic when business owners contact reviewers about their experience, as did the owner of Kitchen 2C who contacted me about my disappointment regarding the credit card (see below). Ā Originally I rated Kitchen 2C at 4. Customer service is important and because of this interest in my experience Ā I have changed the rating to 4.5 to reflect this. Ā The review below remains unchanged.
****************************************Ā
There are so many cafes in Hahndorf and this is one of the better ones. It is in what used to be the delicatessen and the owners have done a brilliant job of fitting out a small space with plenty of seating with more available on the footpath. It is quirky and a little different. The menu is quite limited but what is there is good quality. It is also a little overpriced for the serving sizes. I didn't find the service over-friendly and was disappointed that I had to pay for the coffee I had while waiting for my friends (rather than at the end with the meal) and then had to pay an additional 30 cents because the coffee was under the EFTPOS limit. I found this rather inflexible - I offered to let the staff member hold onto my card but she was not interested. This was really the only disappointment though. If the service was a little friendlier, I would have rated this place higher.
The plougman's platter was fresh and tasty with quality produce; and the smoked salmon was also tasty and fresh - but the serve was quite small. The coffee was average but drinkable.
Hahndorf is a busy tourist town so parking on the main street can be tricky. Better off trying the side streets but Ā check the time limits because parking inspectors do give tickets which can turn a lunch into an expensive outing. There is plenty to see in the main street, so you might also consider parking at the Adelaide end and walking up to the cafe.
Summary: Customer service not bad but could be improved with a little more friendliness; food good quality, served quickly, a little on the pricey side for what you get; coffee average. Worth a try? Yes, there are other cafes in Hahndorf - some are good, some not worth your attention. This is one of the ones worth trying. I would go back again.

Disappointed first time local customers . After waiting 25 minutes for a coffee and having to remind the staff of order we then received cold coffee.

With not a great range of food, what was there was done well! The mushroom dish was very enjoyable! My friend had the pear musli which was also great! The atmosphere was groovy - which wonderful artworks available for purchase!

Stopped in for brunch. Two of us shared the smoked salmon dish and the potato frittata which were really fresh and delicious. The coffee was good too. Would come back again

Had brunch here. The food quality is really good and fresh. The environment is also amazingly relaxing and chill. Only criticism is the portion of dishes aren't big enough given the price. Walked out hungry :(

Only 12 months old, Kitchen 2c is located in Hahndorf and is run by two chefs who are passionate about seasonal and wholesome food. With few items on the menu, all the ingredients are sourced from local businesses and the offerings are constantly changing. In case youā€™re wondering, the ā€œ2cā€ in the title can be interpreted in many ways. It can represent ā€œ2 chefsā€, the first letters of the chefs names, or it can mean ā€œto seeā€.Ā Adelaide Food Central was invited to Kitchen 2c to sample some of the food on offer. All food and drink were provided free of charge.

The food here was so fresh and tasty. We had two courses, juices and teas and just loved it. The rustic setting with lovely wooden tables worked so well on a cool Hahndorf day. The salad was really interesting and great flavours. The lamb pie with pea, feta and mint salad was perfect and the lemon tarts just melted in your mouth. Hard to find as the signage is not obvious, I am so happy we found this gem!

Cool quirky cafe. Pooped in for coffees and loved this place. great service, interesting decoration and a lovely organic chai. Will definately be back for a meal.

Yum. Great new place worth checking out on Hahndorfs main street. Cool and modern fit out - that would comfortably fit into the Peel Street precinct. Good to have an alternative to the regular Hahndorf institutions for a quick pick me up. We stumbled on this place purely by chance as we walked the street but decided to give it a try for coffee and cake. We were happy we did. Very friendly and eager service by the staff. They come across as super keen to make your experience memorable for all the right reasons. Lots of smiles and positive vibes. The coffee was excellent and the orange and almond cake we shared was moist and indulgent. It was nice to sit out the front on the hessian bag cushions in the Adelaide Hills sunshine. The blackboard menu looked interesting and on trend. We will be back to explore further.

Visited Kitchen 2c on a Sunday afternoon and was really impressed.
Had the pork belly and ploughmans plate and it was amazing. Delicious fresh produce which we finished off with the green tea and red bean cake. We we're blown away by the cake and absolutely recommend this cool cafe to everyone.
Master Diner
Our first time here and we loved it! The servings are not large but the flavours are fantastic. The preparation of the food is exquisite. Loved the service and the decore. We had a problem with the coffee which we didn't say anything about but one of the owners approached us on the street and made sure she gave us another one. We will be back.
