I absolutely love Chocolate No. 5! They have beautiful friendly staff who are always extremely welcoming and accommodating! They food is delicious, chocolate is delectable and the hot chocolates are a MUST! I always recommend to my family and friends!

This was one of our very first Hahndorf experiences. The building is a delight! Old German style with tiny doorways and small rooms, coming from Qld I didn’t know such things existed in my country. Adelaide hills blew my mind, we ended up moving there ...

Really really yummy 😋. If you order ice cream and chocolate sauce pour it on the ice cream and half a minute later it will harden and it's so good!
Chocolate @ No. 5 was one of the highlights of my trip to Hahndorf. Very cute and cozy interior and the lady who served us was obviously well-educated in their chocolate and products, which stepped up our experience.
Both the white chocolate and milk chocolate mochas were to die for. So smooth and not too sweet! Although it was too tempting to order one of each of the chocolates in the cabinet, we stuck to the old faithful, chocolate frogs. Yum!
I would probably make another trip down to Hahndorf JUST for another Chocolate @ No. 5 hot chocolate. 🙌🏼

I think this place should be a tourist spot of Hahndorf ! Seriously, your Hahndorf escapade wouldn't be completed without visiting this place. If you're up for a break from the magnificent streets of Hahndorf or the beautiful farm of beerenberg! Make sure you rest and eat here at this place. Good selection of hot chocolates and waffles!

Exploring Adelaide on a foodie girly long weekend we took a detour to Handorf to eat all the waffles. Housed in the quaintest little cottage you can get a deliciously rich indulgent chocolate brownie and dip it in warm milk chocolate. It's an absolute necessity if you are in this German town although naturally it will be full of tourists. The artisan chocolate available for sale also make the perfect special gift. A completely satiating experience. Sadly all the photos have my head in them and Zomato won't let me upload a cropped version
Went there with couple of my friends. Probably as I heard lots abt them, so my expectation was too high. It didn't quite surprise me. They got some awards chocolates, but probably it just not suits my favour. Well, not bad for an afternoon tea.
Had the single origin hot chocolate , java which was 30%cocoa and hint of vanilla and caramel. Was really good! Cant wait to try all the different types of single origin chocolate,all with different flavours. They also have a wide variety of truffles and chocolate bars for sale. Perfect for gifts for anyone who adores chocolates

Service was friendly. Dark hot chocolate was yummy though price is slightly steep. Waffles are pretty expensive for a small serve of one square waffle. However, the salted caramel was good. Would be better if there were more pecans considering it was a pecan and caramel waffle.
I think it was just alright. Both ice chocolate and hot chocolate were not bad but were not spectacular either. However the lady in the counter was really nice and welcoming. It was a good place to take a rest after spending hour exploring hahndorf
If you have a plan to go to hahndorf, pls come visit chocolate no.5 for having a coffee, chocolate and desert. Came here three times. I had mocha with dark chocolate for first time coming and mocha with milk chocolate for third visit. Omg, that's the best mocha I ever had, perfectly sweet but doesn't make you sick. I also tried their scones and belgian waffle. The scones are champion, soft and delicate. Belgian waffle was nice too. But if you come with friend or spouse I suggest you to shared the food. One serve is too much.
The cappuccino was delicious, tasted like a proper coffee. The chocolate frogs were delicious, so milk and just enough sweetness. The inside is tiny, the owners should expand

I like their Spanish hot chocolate. Bold flavour and not too sweet.
They also have Belgium hot chocolate, and other options of coffee, ice/hot chocolates and cakes.
🎶 The place is so cozy with brickwall as the background. You can choose to sit outside or inside. If you have a group of 5-10 people they also have separate room to accommodate the group; subject to availability.
This place does seriously uber yummy hot chocolate! We had the Tanzania & Venezuela hot choc's and they were superb. Also had the waffle with pineapple, orange sauce, ice cream and white choc, also super yummy. Personally, I thought the white choc sauce was unnecessary as all the components were very sweet and you didn't really need the extra sugar hit! But for all you uber sugar lovers out there, you will love it! Nice work guys, we will be back!
A trip to Hahndorf isn’t complete unless you stop off at Chocolate @ No.5. With an assortment of hot chocolate beverages, chai, coffee, iced drinks, milkshakes and fruit smoothies, you really are spoilt for choice. Of course, if you’re looking for something more sweet and substantial, they have a selection of Belgian sugar waffles, chocolate fondues, desserts, cakes and ice cream sundaes. Adelaide Food Central was invited to sample some of their offerings. All food and drink were provided free of charge.
So incredibly good! We had a drink each and shared two dishes (chocolate croissant and waffles) between two adults and two children and barely managed to finish it all because it was all so deliciously rich. I've never seen a chocolate croissant that deserves the name more - so much yummy chocolate! The Mocha was divine, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I think if I lived close by I would be in danger of putting on kilos and kilos because I would be returning a lot!
Have been going to chocolate @ No. 5 for several years and can't fault it. I love the single origin hot chocolates, Ghana is my fav. Had the apple crumble waffle this morning and loved it!

The hot chocolate was decadent and rich, and the waffles were light, sweet and just right. An absolute delight.

this place is far from my place, but i came twice to this place with my friends. i really love the atmosphere around this area cause it feels like somewhere else, not in adelaide. their cafe is cute too because of the oldies style that they have.
chocolate (hot / cold) is always be my favorite. this place serve a super premium cacao chocolate and you can choose from the milk to dark chocolate. i, personally like the dark one and its amazinggg it could bring up my mood too! well, if you accidentally order the super dark one and not really liking it you can always put a sugar in it (not for me i just love the pure one hehe). again, drinking chocolate is such a pleasure!
move on to their waffle. premium chocolate again and the waffle is good. still, if i am going back to this place i think i will only order their hot-drinking-chocolate or ice chocolate because its very rich and pure, and it can make you full haha (if you still want to have a bite they do have it tho, but i didn't try it), ??

We had very VERY good hot chocolates and pretty good scones, but there were whole slabs of things that were on the menu that looked pretty good.
This hot chocolates thought were very rich and filling.

Chocolate Heaven. Came by here just to look last weekend after a massive meal at the local German pubs. I ended up fitting in a serve of waffles and the best hot chocolate I've had in Adelaide! From now on, I'll always make stomach space for this place when I'm down in Hahndorf. Service was friendly, atmosphere was relaxing and superb.

Do it.. The hot chocolates are amazing and the desserts are so rich and chocolatey a family could share a brownie and still develop diabetes. I'm actually typing this one handed while checking my blood sugar, which is trikcy. But yeah, grab a hot chocolate here while you're in Hahndorf - pretty much an essential part of your trip.

Dark choc hot chocolate is AMAZEBALLZ!!! white choc also good but far too sickly for a whole cup. Gluten free flour less cake is yummy, as is mud cake but get it to share!!!

Had my first experience at chocolate @ No. 5 just before the June long weekend what can I say, the waffles were amazing the coffee was lovely and the girl serving us was lovely, only complaint is the food was so good my husband (who wasn't hungry) ate half my waffle. Will def. be back
Best chocolate dessert!. We came here today and had their chocolate brownie, tiramisu, vienna chocolate and dark mocha. All of the dishes and drinks were great with delicious rich chocolate taste. The interior of the cafe was designed beautifully. Service was warm and welcoming. We also had their chilli chocolate tea which was served in a quaint pot with a side serve of milk. We would definitely recommend this dessert place if you happen to be in Hahndorf. :)
Waffle Heaven. Saturday Arvo we enjoyed this great find, we had coffee and a Chocolate sugar waffle, to date the BEST waffle we have enjoyed in adelaide, Our son had the caramello hedgehog which went down a treat aswell. Definately a must if your in Hahndorf !

Put this place on your bucket list. Amazing hot chocolates, handmade choccys and the best waffle I have ever eaten. It was pretty busy the day I visited and we still had a great experience. I asked if they do group bookings and the lovely owner explained that they did not take bookings and really the premise are tiny for large groups. I will be back....in a heartbeat.

Located in a charming 1850's stone cottage, which has been very tastefully fitted out for dining, at the top of the main street, No 5, you will discover a Boutique Chocolataire, Cafe. We sampled both the chocolate and the coffee. The coffee was made from a very careful bean selection, and prepared meticulously, giving you a very relaxing taste experience. The hot chocolate was rich and flavorsome. As an accompaniment to our drinks we chose two genuine Belgian waffles, one with maple syrup the other with a rich chocolate sauce, garnished with strawberries and hand made ice-cream, other flavors are also available. The handmade exquisite chocolates a "coup de grad". Sitting outside under the verandah, roses in bloom, a lingering wafting fragrance from the lavender, the tastbudds having been fully ndulged, satisfying, making for a perfect interlude. Easy to understand the number of awards that are on display. Absolutely fabulous.
Amazing hot chocolate experience. We asked the man questions and were genuinely interested in what they did and where their chocolate was from. He engaged in an informative discussion. They need a hot chocolate tasting player, on their menu, as I wanted to try them all! Gorgeous setting, too.
The waffles never fail – even though sometimes they look a bit flat- but the taste and crunch is soo satisfying. Ooooh..if only they opened a store in Adelaide! I’d be a regular..and much poorer too. Perusing the menu, I ordered their waffles and a hot chocolate. I found the menu to be more traditional than other dessert café’s in the city, offering desserts like sundae’s and cakes. The waffles were marvellous – crispy on the outside, doughy on the inside – the ice cream, sauce, and sliced banana working in perfect unity. A MUST for any waffle lover!

I've always known about Chocolate @ No.5 but never the chance to visit it… that is, until I had a mini day trip to Hahndorf with a few buddies! The chocolate house is located, (yep, you guessed it!) @ No.5 on Main street, right at the end/beginning of the street - depends which way you're coming in to the town. It's a cute little cottage with stone walls, keeping the heat out and the cool in. Artistic photographs and paintings adorn the walls with a variety of different chairs, sofas and coffee tables neatly arranged in the main room of the cottage. Chocolate fondue with strawberries and banana DIVINE. Perfectly fresh strawberries, sweet banana and velvety smooth hot chocolate.
