Review Boatshed Cafe - Hallett Cove

Great experience all up. Food was great, drinks were nice, dessert was a little average. This was the last dinner night for a few months. We felt there may have been a staff shortage as the waits for service were quite long. All n all, worth a visit.

Nice cafe right next to the trailhead/ carpark. Enjoyed the fish & chips but the view is the real treat - get the counter seats! Loud chatters as the place was packed during lunch but nothing the AirPods can’t handle. Enjoy a nice stroll after meal but best with covered shoes - trail is infested with ants and buzzing flies part of the summer experience.

We ordered a homemade burger, fried squid, and drinks. It took a long time for the food to come out, but when I ate it while watching the summer sea, I felt at peace. I could feel the liveliness of the crowd.

Fantastic view and right on the doorstep of a lovely outdoor walk which is highly recommended. Easy online booking but the staff weren't the most welcoming or friendly. Food was average to good.

This is a great place to enjoy the sea view while dining. The food is good, we like the pizza, pasta and ice cream here.

Came here for mid week brunch with my husband. The view here is phenomenal on a nice sunny day - and we were lucky enough to sit on the breakfast bar. The place was absolutely packed and the staff seemed a little stressed, but we're still super friendly and accommodating. I got a sweet potato rosti with poached egg, holondaise sauce, spinach, and bacon. I didn't enjoy it that much, it was far too rich and didn't have enough fresh elements. However, the food was high quality and well presented. Near the cafe is a walking trail that leads to a lovely cliff view and I highly suggest making this part of your visit. The cafe also has a tuck shop style counter for takeaway food and its own designated seating area. This is a great idea considering the cafe is beach front! Thank you staff ☺️

Cafe and kiosk collocated near Hallett Cove beach. While internet states it closes at 4:30 the kitchen was closed at 3, so don’t expect anything savoury to eat. There was a small collection of cakes at 3:30, although they were being put away as we walked in the door. We were not made particularly welcome with “we’re about to close”. Most chairs were already piled up in the alfresco eating area so we sat inside. 1 staff was properly wearing a mask, the rest were not. However, the drinks were served with a glass of ice after I asked for them, and the lemon tart was alright. Several other potential customers turned away because they were already shutting up shop.

Visited with my mum and lad. Lovely to sit in the shade on seats at the front of the Kiosk and look out to the sea and to the Conservation Park. Fast service and nice coffee. Cafe has a cafe part - more like inside dining - and a downto earth kiosk with basic food and coffee. We were at the Kiosk Nearby parking and with smooth, well planned footpath access not too steep.

This cafe has recently been renovated so it looks very different. We sat outside, which was nice because you could open the blinds and experience an incredible view. We only wanted a small bite so ordered some entrees, they were slightly overpriced but they were tasty. We had the chicken wings which were super salty with nice spices. We also had the fried halloumi with pomegranate molasses, which was such a great combination except that the halloumi itself was a rubbery so maybe changing the produce itself would make this better. Nice spot for lunch for the area.

The menu shown here is very out of date, also the prices. The food is good and service friendly. Lovely location and views, but cafe itself is so noisy, impossible to have conversation. Hard copy menu prices need to have prices updated, coffee is more expensive than stated but still good,

Brunch on Sunday morning<br/><br/>We took a couple of overseas visitors here for brunch, had a table booked and arrived at 11.10. Ordered and paid at 11.20. By 11.50 nothing except coffee had arrived so we enquired as to how much longer our food might be. Err what did you order said the young lad, we told him and eventually he came back and said he couldn't find our order. Well, we said, other people who ordered after us have been fed so could you please do something about it?<br/><br/>Our meals eventually arrived at 12.20, exactly one hour after we ordered! Sure it was busy (and very noisy) but that is no excuse for losing our order! No apology from anyone, not even an offer to refresh our by now cold coffees. Dreadful service, our overseas visitors were not impressed, we will not be back!

Great view although service needs a serious jumpstart - you wait for ages for the most simple order. View of the ocean is worth it bit not rushing back

The location is really good as it is the only restaurant / cafe at this amazing place. However it's a shame the view is to their car park :/ it could be sea view but it's not.. the food was good, I tried the veggie burger and my partner ordered the beef burger. The only bad thing is the service, really slow, and the girl who served us was really rude.

What a great gem hidden away in Hallet Cove. With spectacular views looking onto the beach and water if you’re perched seated on the bench table, it’s a great place to be on a beautiful day we had. Grab a menu, make your order and payment at the counter and they’ll bring out the items to you. Very friendly service. <br/><br/>Had a bit of an appetite that day as missed out on eating breakfast. We had Wiener Schnitzel (veal) which had two large crispy pieces with a good fresh serving of apple slaw and fries. Got an addition of mushroom gravy which came in a bowl. Great value for money to be had. The Trio Of Sliders were pork, beef, and chicken and tasted great. Side of Polenta Chips were oh so crunchy. Drinks were lovely too.<br/><br/>Well worth a visit if you’re in the area and looking for fantastic views to go with the delicious food.

Went here for lunch today amazing view good ambiance. Ordered Arancini to come as first course and Salt and pepper squid with Asian slaw for second course to come at the same time as hubbies steak sandwich. Food did not arrive as requested so Arancini sat on table:( it did taste good though. Ordered lemon tart for dessert which unfortunately the tart filling was runny and had no lemon flavour at all very disappointed. Also asked for Frosé which was on special list to drink was served Rose :( Toilet room floor and walls need a good scrub.

Great views situated right on the beach only stopped in for a bit of desert after walking through the conservation park. Be a nice place at sunset

Excellent food. Beautiful view. Friendly staff. They dont rush you and give service with a smile. Great 4 a long lunch with friends. A fave of ours.

Food is delicious but every time we've been there service is very lacking, too many bookings are taken and both the kitchen and wait staff can't handle the volume. We ordered coffee after finishing our meal which we waited ages for, we waited over 15 mins and the coffees never came so we walked out. Very disappointed each time, the only good thing is the view and the food.

The prices are too high, inside/ outside dining area are too cramped, the food is very average and the service could improve. The location is nice however...

We are fairly sure this is our new favourite place to eat breakfast ❤ and lunch and dinner...... looking forward to summertime dining 👌🍳🍔🍰

Always a good place for breakfast, great location. Service can be up and down, although since it's changed to ordering at the counter it's improved since you don't have to try to wave someone down in the busy times to take your order. Best place to eat in Hallett Cove

After a long hike around the cove, it was a pleasant experience to be able to dine in this delectable establishment that is amply placed overlooking the beautiful shores. Now let me nip out the cons before I get to the pros, the staff may seem a little stressed or pretentious but then again they are only human so sometimes it happens, but that does not diminish the quality of good food and drinks that they serve. The meals were scrumptious and hearty with their wedges, pizzas and arianci balls being the highlight of our meal. I would highly recommend their smoothies as well as it is really refreshing after a long hike. Hope this restaurant continue to improve and expand, so that more hikers can appreciate this gem of Hallet Cove.

Great view, good food. A little uncomfortable. The people are really pretentious. <br/>Snobby and up themselves. Makes you feel like cancelling the order. <br/>I mean it's suppose to be a relaxed beach type place. <br/>Would go back only based on the food though.
My Reviews With Honesty
Waiting over an hour for food. My daughters food didn't come out any earlier so she was getting very over sitting there. When the food came out it wasn't exactly what we ordered so that was disappointing.<br/>Drinks took ages to come out also.<br/>Staff didn't look that under the pump they were just standing around. When I asked about the delay in food the girl just said "oh ok" and walked off....<br/>Yeah no worries don't say sorry or anything it's only customer service!!! <br/>I'll drive down the hill to Brighton next time when I want to be near the beach.

Breakfast was amazing.. I had the ham Benedict. Delicious! I also had a mixed fresh juice which was nice but $9 is a bit expensive for a little bottle!<br/>The service was lovely. Apart from the older lady who works in juice bar who was carrying sandwiches up the stairs was pretty rude. The only really bad thing is that little half door/gate thing!!! Outside, we were sitting right next to it and It is so loud, everyone who opens it and goes out just slams it, and since it was a busy cafe there was people coming in and out every minute! So every minute trying to eat our breaky or trying to chat was disturbed by this massive bang! And it made me jump every time. They need to ban this entrance/exit. It's only like 2 meters extra to the main entrance people!

Went here for dinner then breakfast the next morning and I must say it was amazing food was excellent price was fair and staff are great and the dessert well I can say I won't need to go beyond the city for a great dessert bar cause it was to die for the whole Fam enjoyed it and will def go back again even if just for coffee and treats we had salmon, whittling penne pasta followed by banana spring rolls the salted caramel was the highlight plus lemon curd desserts ect and breakfast smashed avocado was great look forward to returning thankyou boat shed for supplying down south dinners to an amazing restaurant/cafe as we are well overdue for something great and local<br/>

My wife and I went to a 30th last night in the upstairs function part. Awesome food. By far the best chicken I have ever had. Huge selection of food, all being top shelf. Friendly staff. Great venue!

Had the veggie burger, chips and juice. Brilliant. Great view and pleasant staff. I'll come again............................................

Very disappointing. The only Thai about this Thai beef salad was the coriander and there was plenty of that. Very boring salad with no sauce, beef was dry and tasteless.Nice spot but that's it. Took an hour to get my meal. The size of the salad was more of an entree than a main. Expensive for what I got. Never again.

Cute little cafe with amazing views of the ocean and surrounds, but I was very disappointed with the meal. I ordered the Iced Mocha (skim milk please, no cream) and was given a sickly sweet sticky mess. It tasted like coffee syrup rather than real coffee, and was just not great. To eat, I ordered the Sweet Kao (sweet potato rosti, bacon, spinach, poached eggs and hollandaise) and requested a side of toasted Turkish bread. The waitress told me I wouldn't need it, as the meal was very filling. Foolishly, I trusted her judgement. To start with the good, the spinach portion size was spot on, and the eggs were poached perfectly with ooey gooey yolks that made me excited for the rest of the meal. This is where the enjoyment ended. It wasn't just crispy, but burnt. It was bland and I was bitterly disappointed. All I could taste was charcoal. Maybe that could have been masked with more hollandaise? Whilst we're talking portion size, more than a single rasher of bacon would have been nice. I had been looking forward to this meal, but I won't be back. Overpriced and disappointing.

The view is amazing and we were excited as we wandered into this quaint little cafe for lunch. Unfortunately the service and food did not match the quality of the location. My partner and I both had Prawns with a mango salsa and Asian salad. The prawns were battered and fried, the 'salsa' was just mango pieces and the salad had a dressing which wasn't very pleasant. Got a takeaway coffee which was delicious but too hot to drink until we got home (30 mins). Won't make the trip for a meal again, although it's probably a good stop for coffee and cake after a stroll on the boardwalk.

Absolute gem! This is the best place to go for great service and amazing food. No matter how busy they are they are willing to help with a smile. My husband and I both ordered pizzas. A chili prawn one and a margarita!! Yummy!! For entree we had chicken wings and beef and lamb meatballs in tomato sauce. Can't wait to come back.

Stopped for coffee after a long walk along the board walk, ended up grabbing some brunch too. Ice coffee good. Brunch delicious! Would go back again.

Lovely place for breakfast. We had the brekky burger which was served on a beautiful soft brioche bun & really good value. The huevos rancheros was also very tasty & the ricotta hotcakes were devine, they just melted in your mouth. We visited on a Friday morning & the cafe wasn't overly busy so there wasn't much waiting time between ordering & receiving our food.

Been here twice now with my partner and each meal we have had has been amazing. It can get pretty busy so be prepared to wait a little while at peak times. That would never stop us though! 5 stars!

Smoked Chicken Pizza. With bacon and aoli, washed down with a local Prancing Pony amber ale.

Ideally placed for finishing up the Marino Coastal walk, Boatshed Cafe has a warm atmosphere and lovely view of Hallet Cove. Main meals were expensive, but the steak sandwich we had was absolutely delicious and well sized- we shared. The other burgers looked tasty too.<br/><br/>The range and appearance of desserts wasn't quite up to the high standard of the rest of the cafe, however. The staff were friendly and worked extremely efficiently considering there were 3 for a full, busy cafe. However, one of our orders- a slice of cheesecake- was either too slow coming or forgotten since it required no preparation but was not served after 10 or so minutes. Everything else was excellent though.<br/><br/>An all round excellent cafe environment and a good experience, if a little expensive. Would definitely return!

Won't be going back. On holidays with the family met up with friends on the coast, booked my table few days earlier and was pretty excited as it had been highly recommend.... Over priced and the night was spoiled by a bunch of drunk women that should of had the alcohol supply cut off hours earlier. Really put a damper on our night. When my husband spoke with the manager just did not seem to care.

Great food, great value. Coming from Perth, it was refreshing to find a coastal cafe that wasn't pretentious and didn't charge through the nose for good food. We had eggs benedict and bacon and eggs. Both were fantastic. The ham on the eggs benedict was delicious!

Lovely local spot. Best local cafe we always enjoy coming down for a meal! Pizzas are really yummy! Service is fantastic, one of the girls has a great sense of humor and makes our visits enjoyable. Grab a brownie on the way out!

Casual dining, beach ambience, country in the burbs. Location, tick, ambience, tick, food, tick, staff, tick! We have been in Hallett Covefor3 years and this place is the best cafe for breakfast we have found! The menu is innovative, they offer all the regulars but do yourself a favour and try the Sweet Kao or the mushrooms! Yummy! Lunch and dinner is just as good! Pizzas are awesome! Tandoori chicken is my fav! Staff are friendly, like all places they have their moments, but I find them consistently good! Coffee is to hot but ask for it cooler and it's fine! Throw in the view of the conservation park and the sea with the Dolphins and the boats! Give it a go!

Great Location...... This place is amazing, great location overlooking the water, food is good but the service (and have visited this cafe 3-4 times now) is always below average. The owner and staff are always grumpy and no smiles for their customers, the meals are thrown down and the wait is usually long even for coffees. Get the service right and this place would be the best on the coast.

Not Many Anymore. Bad Service and Overpriced. Meals are ok, just overpriced<br/><br/><br/>-----21 Feb, 2015-----<br/><br/>Service has declined. Have been a frequent visitor to the boat shed since it opened. However, since Christmas the service has declined. Staff seemed unhappy and always in a hurry. Food is not good enough to make up for poor service. Such a shame as position is ideal, but will now find other cafes.

I was disapointed. It was dirty..<br/>That place need clean up properly, does not matter how good the food if I was sitting next to a dirty floor and stairs..<br/>It was not the dust from present day..It seems there was not cleaned up for month..

I recently visited the boatshed cafe and i am very impressed, service was fantastic food even better friendly staff and great view, although it was busy food was out quick! Recommend to all friends and will be returning.

Always good. Have always enjoyed this place. Foods always great and service well above standards set by other restaurant in SA. They always make a effort to accomadate my food allergys and remember our special requests. Very busy place but generally get food out quickly even on Sundays when it's busy. <br/><br/>We love the boatshed so much that we looked a Christmas function this yer. What a wonderful experience food aw fantastic, service great. I can't fault it., <br/><br/>The location is great. If I was fit and able I would do the walk and have lunch everyday.

Great food but service lacks...<br/>Few times now I have been to the boatshed and unfortunately probabley not again as each time I say to myself might just be a bad day and should try it again. The staff (namely the owners) are quiet rude and unfriendly. Food items or drinks are forgotten and take a while to come out. Good thing is when the food does come out it is quiet nice but don't expect a smile or friendly service when you receive it.

Awesome atmosphere. Great food ,atmosphere, staff and drinks. Highly recommend -just needs to be bigger now to accommodate its popularity :)

Overpriced entree sized meal. After a long walk from Kingston park, my friend and I, both quite hungry, stopped in for brunch. After much consideration I purchased what was the specialty of the cafe. Now it was the most expensive item on the menu (and the supposed specialty) so I expected it would be a decent serving. However when it came out I actually looked around thinking the waitress was coming back with more food. The roti's were barely visible under what was a very small helping of spinach, 2 poached eggs and too much hollandaise sauce. Now I am usually not one to complain but even my friend exclaimed that it was an extremely small serving and well overpriced. I made a polite complaint to the staff when paying, which was basically received without much consideration or sympathy. It was at that point I decided I would not be returning to eat at that cafe again. Not impressed at all...

Best Brekky in Adelaide. Went here for brekky on sunday the 8.11 had an amazing breakfast was extremely busy and took barely 15 minutes to come out and was delicious. Service was great, and the place has definatly improved its service and wait times. The manager was a great help getting my children colouring in and making sure they were happy. Coffee was great too.. Even had time and a room for cake. Highly recommend the lemon muffins. Boatshed is a great place and we will be BACK! good work boatshed

Awful service. Went for Sunday breakfast for a special occasion which was ruined by having to wait nearly an hour and a half for our order. When I spoke to the lady in charge she shrugged her shoulders and muttered something about omelettes taking a long time to cook. No apology was offered. When the food eventually arrived I asked if we could maybe get another drink but of course it hadn't arrived by the time we had finished eating. A number of other people complained whilst we were there and she never once apologised, just shrugged and muttered an excuse.<br/>If it was just the fact that our food took so long to arrive I might have considered returning but her whole reaction makes me wonder why she is there and she is obviously not customer focused.
Joel.isbister
Great food let down by poor service. My partner and I stopped in to the boatshed and were immediately impressed by the view the cafe looks over. Which is lucky because it took nearly 10mins for a waitress to come over and even take a drink order. When ordering food the waitress told me the fish and chips only comes battered and they don't do grilled I ordered the battered and then the lady on table next to me received her GRILLED fish and chips. Staff were nice enough to swap my order so I get what I wanted. Food was very good. Fish was tasty, the girlfriend had s and p squid which while a bit floury still had a nice taste. I ordered a beer but after it still hadn't been delivered to the table after 20mins we decided to walk out. Good feed, good view, rubbish table service

Can they cope?. On the spur of the moment we decided to pop out for some Sunday brunch and, after a quick look on Urbanspoon, decided to try Boatshed Cafe. We arrived around 11am and it was clearly busy (usually a good sign) but there was room for us on the long single bar overlooking the car park, beyond which is an excellent view of the bay, but you can't see it because of the cars, including ours....<br/>Anyway, we were seated and our order taken quickly, with the coffees coming out within a couple of minutes. Then we waited for our very uncomplicated meals.<br/>After half an hour I asked the young man who had taken our order if the food was likely to come soon. He said he would go and find out. He never returned.<br/>A few minutes later the lady who seemed to be running the place came to clear our now very cold and very empty coffee cups, and I asked her too. She assured me she would chase our food up, and so it arrived a couple of minutes later<br/>The food was good, fresh, tasty and good value. Worth trying.<br/>We were not in a rush, we took advantage of the free newspaper and had a leisurely brunch.<br/>The same lady approached me when I was paying and apologised for the delay with our food, a nice touch.<br/>A reasonable experience all in all and we have not been put off going back, so long as we are not in a rush.

Service and management need attention!. I agree with previous reviews this place has got great potential. The location and view from the cafe is fantastic. The outdoor area is great feature. The food was wonderful. Though the service and management need attention. We made a booking for breakfast, but when we got there we found they had given our table to other people. So we were left waiting in the outdoor area which was quite cold even with the blinds down, unfortunately only one heater was working so that did not help. We were later told that the people who had took our table said they had a booking and the waitress happened to say was it under the name ??? which they said yes to. My suggestion to management and staff would be to ask customers what name the booking is under and let them say not the staff. To make sure people are not lying and taking other peoples tables. We explained to staff that we had booked, one staff member believed us and was very accommodating, whilst another staff member was overheard adamantly saying that we didn't and was offering tables inside to other people. They also seemed quite understaffed.

Left a bad taste in my mouth. We have eaten at the Boatshed cafe a few times it is very hit & miss to what sort of service you will receive for the minimal staff.<br/>They have made a few changes recently and not for the better "table service" but they don't bring the cold drinks you need to get up and collect from a fridge yourself (would have been nice to know) I stood at the counter to pay for 10 minutes while the owner made coffee not once she acknowledged me standing there the 1 waitress eventually come over to finalise the payment no "sorry for waiting" nothing...<br/>I ordered the new salad on the menu very disappointing for $19 was a very small portion the halumi was like rubber & was way over dressed! <br/>We have had a few good experiences at this cafe the last one has defiantly left a bad Taste in my mouth.... <br/>Pizzas are delicious the have that thing perfect. <br/>More staff & acknowledgment would go a long way

Penny. Took a trip down to this Café today - when I arrived could not even find a name for the Café on the building, just happened to notice one on a post on the way out of the car park?? It would have been REALLLY nice if the opening times, and a menu and the name of the place had been in the window, it looked as if it was closed down to be honest. Wasted journey.

This place has real potential, however a short takeaway coffee experience is enough for me.

A Disappointment. It was our first visit to a stylish café in a superb location, but unfortunately not matched by either the service and food. Firstly, the wrong coffee arrived (not a real problem) but it was uninspiring and lacked bite. The accompanying savoury muffin was hot, but almost totally lacking in taste.<br/><br/>Other people seemed to be enjoying more substantial plates, so we'll give it another try and see if things improve!

This is a great place locally to go, pizzas are great, beat Domino's hands down, why would you go to the HC shopping Centre & sit in the car park restaurants(actually why would you go there regardless) when you can come here & watch the sun set over a bottle of red...

Great Meal. We had a great meal at the Boat Shed today, my partner and I both had the Cajun Chicken Burger, and they were yummo!<br/><br/>Unfortunately, yes the service is lacking in areas, when I called to book the lady on the phone was quite short with me, I put this down to the cafe being busy. When we arrived it wasn't too busy, we were told where to sit no problems, but as others have mentioned the vibe that the (manager/owner) gives off isn't the best! <br/><br/>We will still return as the food was great, hope that the service is a bit better next time.

I liked it.. We have been at this great little cafe about 3 times now. I love the gourmet pizza's and cocktails. On all of our visits we happened to have timed just when things get busy, so we had to wait a little while - but thats ok... the food is great and worth waiting for. I found the staff nice, the ambience of the place nice - and the prices quite reasonable - I'll be coming back.

No Breakfast. Pulled up with a group of 13 people, looked like a great place, splendid views. Our leader had called 20 minutes earlier to confirm numbers and was told there was two tables reserved for us, upon arriving up the rude owner denied this.... Anyway we were offered the breakfast bar, me myself would have gone else where at that point, I even called another local place to confirm that they had plenty of room. The leader decided to stay so we started ordering, that was ok and quick, coffees came out fairly quick, mine was warm (long black) but was ok. After that the meals started, this still looked promising the wife along with the other 11 got theirs. waited waited waiting, once everyone finished I asked my wife to go and see what was going on, she went back inside and after 10 or so minutes arguing with the rude owner she gave back the value of the breakfast I did not get. I was still expecting to be fed as I had not eaton and watched 12 others eat.... I then thanked the rude owner and told her my thoughts on the whole matter, needless to say I won't be retuning. Maybe when taking orders for larger numbers they should attach names to the orders to stop this happening to someone else. It's not rocket science just common sense!

Relaxing lunch. Lovely food, good service and views with dolphins jumping out in front of us on a beautiful calm sea

Awesome location and great food for the price. Cocktails are a bit expensive though as they're not made to standard recipes.

Don't Waste Your Time. After reading all the negative comments about the place I decided to see for myself if the comments made here are true. Unfortunately YES.<br/>We arrived for lunch and the place was relatively busy. The outside tables that were free were not cleared and I had to ask someone to come and clean a table so that we could seat ourselves. The waitress was slovenly in her attitude and grudgingly went off to get a cloth. She returned gave the table a wipe over (my four year old could do better) and left it smeared and wet. I then had to ask for a menu. These were again given with no comment or friendly customer service.<br/>After deciding what to eat, I went to the counter to order. Ha ha ha . . . to order! <br/>I waited there for 3 or more minutes looking at all the staff who were busy doing other menial tasks and not even acknowledging that they would serve me shortly. I couldn't see any chefs in the kitchen cooking - so my prospects of getting a meal were slim. I decided that there wasn't going to be any service soon - so I left and didn't bother even trying to ask if anyone could be bothered to serve me. I have never been to a place where there are not front of house staff present to take your order. <br/>This place is a waste of time - don't bother going there unless you like being ignored!

Food outweighs Service. Whilst I thoroughly enjoy the food in this cafe, I concur with other posters regarding the service <br/>The Boatshed is our local haunt. Its a go-to place for a tandoor pizza, chicken burger or roast vegetable salad. Depending on the time of the day, service can be pretty fast to woefully slow. The coffee usually suffers by the end of the day as the machine needs a clean out. <br/>Now that the cafe is getting busy, it needs some re-organising with regards to the beverages/food orders. The barista seems to be stuck with taking food orders, making coffees and drinks and organising cakes etc and there is a cast of thousands in the kitchen area.<br/>Mind you, it doesn't help when you have customers standing at the counter uhhmming and ahhing over what they are going to order. One day, I watched a customer spend over 7 frustrating minutes pondering over their order, whilst the queue of disgruntled customers grew. (It was a warm, busy Sunday lunch time). Meanwhile a backlog of coffees and beverages built up whilst the counter staff member was trying to wait patiently for this person to make a decision.<br/>On the food front, everything I have sampled has been full of flavour, made of quality ingredients and consistent in their standard of presentation. There are usually a good selection of desserts, muffins and cake.<br/>Oh, and did I mention the view? Outstanding! The view, ambience and food makes up for the periodic delays.

Not impressed. Ordered two coffees and a muffin to share mid afternoon sunday. Busy but there were still spare tables. The first coffee came after about 10 mins. We waited...and waited....and waited for the second coffee and muffin. After about another 10 mins, went back inside to enquire. Staff couldn't care that we had not had all our order. Counter very unorganised and messy and saw that the steam wand on the coffee machine was caked in dried milk - should be wiped after every use -and looked like it hadn't been cleaned all day. Barista needs to be taught basic hygiene. Used to go regularly before the re-vamp and the building renovations, but unfortunately we wont be going back!!

Amazing location. Staff were so friendly, food was amazing especially the pizzas. Tried them a few times now and the flavours and quality are second to none with a real home made feel. Only disappointing part was when my plate was empty!

We were disappointed with our visit to the Boatshed Cafe. We waited over half an hour for our breakfast and finally asked the staff about our meals. Our order had disappeared even tho we had paid. I understand places make mistakes but the way they handled this was terrible. <br/><br/>Apologies were not forthcoming and they kept saying it will on take a minute to make. We were over waiting and asked for a refund. They still made us pay for our coffees!! Ridicules right??? <br/><br/>The only apology we got was from the young man on the counter the apparent supervisor was not interested in us. <br/><br/>Hope no one else has this experience! Only having 1 day off a week with my family and going out very rarely this was a very disappointing experience.

Falls short. Spent a Sunday arvo here recently. This place has such potential , it has the views, location and basically a monopoly the ingredients are all there however...<br/> We sat and watched the place running whilst loads of people came through. The young staff do their best however the manageress/ owner making coffee - calling and pouring the shots is not friendly. Makes for a bad vibe.<br/>Shame, this place could have put halletts on the map.

Efficient staff managed to find us a table in this busy csfe, even though we didn't have a reservation. Good food and lovely views

Lovely food with great views. Try the cliff walk too- even better views

Best burger I've ever had. Attention to detail, friendly staff...and a stunning ocean view!

AMAZING Food. Have come here regularly for Breakfast and it is always fantastic. Have never had an even close to bad meal here. Really, Really good food.

Try the steak!!. I've eaten here many times and overall the food has been great and service fine. The steak is ALWAYS spot on and my favourite evening meal there, followed closely by the pumpkin salad, and the pizzas. I have tried a few breakfast dishes and they have been yum. They are not usually open for dinner in Winter, which is a shame, but I imagine business by the seaside is a bit slow and unpredictable then. I'm looking forward to eating on the new deck when the warmer weather comes.

Yummy food great view. We have eaten a few times at the Boatshed ( next to the hallett cove conservation park) most recently last weekend. They have renovated with an extended covered outdoor eating area which will be fantastic in spring and summer. The food is yummy ,I had salt and pepper squid entree size ( not very big but a good size for lunch) which I really enjoyed and my daughter had the bruschetta which was served on a pita bread and looked and tasted yummy. We are yet to try the breakfast menu but that looked great too. We will be back !!

Disappointing. In a nutshell - The service / attitude of the staff is poor.<br/> The quality of the food/coffee is average.<br/> The location is great.<br/>This could be a really great little cafe/restaurant with just a few improvements. It's such a small little place that no-one really expects to be blown away by the quality of the food, but on the occasions I've been there I've felt like I'm imposing. The staff never smile and don't seem to have the ability to make customers welcome. It seems to be a common phenomena in most cafes situated on the water's edge of Adelaide's seaside suburbs. Almost like "We've got the location and that's all that matters."

Tandoori Pizza - 10th May 2013. This was our first visit to the Boatshed Café and we will be back. We had Tandoori Pizza and its the best pizza we have ever tasted. Well done guys. Amazing recipe.

Great location heaps of potential, food ok ,reasonable prices but the place could well do with some staff with personality

Amazing selection. Have been coming to the Boatshed for quite awhile now. The food is always fresh and tasty, I especially love the eggs benedict and the the chilli prawn pizza. The staff are always friendly and the coffee great. Keep up the good work!

Poached eggs weren't soft and the sweet potato fritters were slightly burnt, but great location and I'd come back to try the lunch and dinner menu. Kids pancakes were a hit.

I want this place to be great, but it falls short.<br/>Have been here a few times now. The location & view is amazing. But staff, decor & some foods fall short..<br/>Wait times can be 20+mins just for toast & coffee. (Sunday 14/4,10.30).<br/>Coffee was terrible. Watery, grainy & overheated milk. Toast was nice....<br/>With some minor improvements like- Someone 'good' to do just coffees, more 'quality' staff, & promt service. This place could turn into a gem.<br/><br/>I have been here for dinner, & the wood fired pizza was yummo!

Lovely place but .... A great location and the food is good. I don't know whether it's a sign of the times or what but some young staff just don't seem to be very perceptive in that they should be looking around and clearing up quite quickly - especially when it is busy. Maybe they need more staff to keep up. Food and cakes are great although we had a chicken pizza and could only see one bit of chicken on it! We still ate it and it was tasty enough with a great base. Our granddaughter liked it as there is a small kids play area but they had run out of paper to draw on yet they had plenty of crayons. It's very much improved on last year but there is still room for more improvements to be made.<br/><br/><br/>-----01 Apr, 2013-----<br/><br/>Could be so much better. We have visited the Boatshed cafe many times and sometimes it is spot on. The views are stunning so the location is perfect. However, the service is sometimes slow and the tables never seem to be very clean. The staff are mainly young girls and although they are polite and friendly, I just don't think that their standard of cafe cleaning is very high. Finally, we both ordered decaf coffee recently to take out but we had to bin them as they tasted absolutely vile! Wish I had taken them back now and complained. Unlikely to return after this. Shame :(

We ate there Easter Sunday...great food great service and quick too. Pizza menu is very yum. Wood fired. Take a jacket as if you have to sit outside it can be a little breezy. Amazing view.

Had a Saturday lunch date with a friend of mine here to try it and we loved it!! <br/>Food was great, came out quickly and was delish. There were not many others there though. <br/>I had the chicken pizza and it was so tasty that I have been copying it at home!! <br/>My friend had the fish and chips and it was lovely too. <br/>Would highly recommend this little hidden gem!

We had breakfast there this morning and it was fantastic. It is a great spot that we love going to. A couple of months ago about 20 of us went from Hallett Cove Baptist Church one Saturday morning and we were very well looked after. This is one of my favourite spots to go with Family and Friends. Well done Team at Boatshed Cafe at Hallett Cove

Poor service. For the second time now, my wife & I have visited the Boat Shed & have had very poor service both times! this second time we ordered our food straight after my son & his wife, they got theirs about 15 minutes later, we were still waiting 30 minutes later for ours! When staff were approached the first one did not convey our complaint, & the second one said as an explanation that we had not ordered our food at the same time! This was rubbish as my wife ordered straight after my son & even quoted the same table number! With no explanation, our food arrived sometime later, with the entree as well as the mains all at once! I would have expected an apology & a partial refund, or a full refund if they did not want to apologize, but we got neither! A bit like the earlier reviewer with her mouldy wrap! I consider this to be very poor customer "service", especially in this day & age when there are so many eating places competing for our patronage. The quality of the food we ordered was very good, but the standard of service we got was extremely bad! Sorry Boat Shed, a thumbs down from us & we will NEVER return!

Yummy pizza. I tried the wood-oven prawn pizza. This pizza was delicous, fresh and full of flavour.

Beautiful location. The setting for this lovely cafe is amazing. Beautiful sea views complemented by great service. The breakfast was good and you can walk it off on the beach!

Lovely experience!. I have dined at the Boatshed Cafe twice. The food was excellent with, great fresh flavours, and the service was quite good as well. Definitely recommended
Jessica
Brekky. Terrible customer service, a wrap was sent back to the kitchen with mould on it and the chef refused to replace it. We questioned the chef and she started yelling and arguing with my friend in front of all the customers. where has the mantra "the customer is always right" gone. I really do not recommend this cafe to anyone.

Great decor, nice view, ok food, ok coffee. I enjoyed the experience over all but would have loved it if the eggs were poached correctly and my latte was made with love:)

Finally! I found a cafe in Hallet Cove that is good!. Fair priced, simple tasty food, with a good view. I will be eating here again. Definately fills the spot. Compared to other cafes around Hallet Cove, this one is the best so far.

Like it. A great place for breaky or lunch. A family friendly cafe with great food and view.

(Full review on blog) <br/>This place is for: those looking for a good cafe in the southern suburbs. If you are from the city, I reckon it’s worth going to. I would tie it up with going to the park/Sugarloaf for a walk first to make dining here more worth the drive. It’s a nice stop en route to Victor Harbour or Kangaroo Island from the north.<br/>Excellent for: brunch, lunch, catching up with friends, or enjoying some time alone reading a book while eating.

It always seemed quite popular - despite that it’s quite hidden in Hallett Cove. After the numerous times I’ve seen this cafe, I finally had the opportunity to properly dine here for Father’s Day. As expected, the cafe was quite busy, even after 2 pm.   The cafe has options for indoor and semi-outdoor dining - the semi outdoor area faces the car park and on the right hand side is the entrance to the Sugarloaf.  At the time we went, we were gifted with a beautiful 20-23 degree (Celsius) sunny weather so I reckon the people sitting in the semi-outdoor area were definitely enjoying the nice weather. The place caters to both big and small groups. There’s a bar-type seating in the outdoor area.  Menu selection :  There’s a lot of different

So overall, the food gets a tick. Service was OK – the problem with our reservation soured things a little and I did get the impression that there weren’t enough staff (or, the staff that were on were not experienced enough). However, the real killer was the noise inside.
