The perfect spot for a French pastry, Eclair is a pretty little patisserie in the main street of Hampton that delivers aesthetically pleasing desserts and fabulous coffee. Super friendly staff make you feel welcome, and the cosy bistro atmosphere encourages you to linger over a delicious eclair or croissant.
I ordered a Mont Blanc, and this pretty little cake was sweet perfection; with it's layers of delicate sponge, mousse and jam. So fresh and tasty, it was the perfect mid morning treat.
In the picturesque beachside suburb of Hampton, Eclair is a lovely little cafe for a spot of lunch or a coffee and cake. Trust me, it's worth every calorie.
What a find this magnificent little piece of France in Hampton. Close your eyes and you could think you are in one of the best patisseries in France. The eclairs need to be tasted to be believed they are In a huge range of flavours I have not seen before. The pate and cornichon baguette just superb.
There is a range of baguettes all looked divine along with other savoury treats. The croque monsieur was so delicious. We tried the Belgium hot chocolate it was the best I have tasted for a long while. The staff are just lovely so helpful and pleasant. Will be back as soon as possible well worth the drive from Glen Waverley.

Yves the Master Baker, no jokes or sniggering, is a legend. He is not only a Jedi master of bread and patisserie. But a genial host always brimming with bonhomie.
The coffee can be a little hit and miss, hence the 4, not 5-star rating. But the bread, cakes and pastry will take you to bake to that holiday in the South of France where you walked to the bakery every morning for fresh bread.

The real deal from Northern France in Bayside. Good coffee, friendly staff and the pastries hit the spot, the almond croissant are our go to favorite. Also open early.
Eclair, I can’t believe after being such a big fan of this petite cafe for such a long time and still haven’t said a word about it. Maybe it was a bit selfishness of mine, that if I share this place with everyone, I might have difficulty to find a table for myself and bub. Even though this is already actually the case some time..

I love this place. The coffee is consistently good and always hot! The pastries always look incredible and the few I've tasted to date have been very delicious. Looks like a French deli, croissants taste like they've been baked in Paris! Yum.

Lovely French bakery- I had breakfast here this morning and got the delicious eclairs- lovely coffee friendly staff who made us feel welcome and at home. Many locals were popping in and chatting like old friends with the staff which added the the lovely atmosphere. If you want delicious French breads, eclairs or pooched eggs in Hampton I highly recommend this place.

Pastries to die for. I was walking past and thought I’d just go in for a coffee. The pastries and cakes looked so good I had to indulge; I was not disappointed.
The coffee was excellent and the staff were so courteous and friendly.

I'm lucky enough to work right across the road from Eclair, the little French cafe on Hampton Street, which meant that I can't even count the number of times I have had lunch here. Followed by a coffee and if I'm really spoiling myself even a pastry! Today I had a craving for their absolutely spectacular tuna baguette. If you now think "ah, a tuna baguette, nothing special about that" then you obviously haven't tried this one. Out on a wooden board comes the fresh baguette (baked on the bay), filled with a mixture of tuna, mayonnaise, dill and my guess capers, as well as some lettuce and boiled, sliced eggs. I can tell you, this is the best tuna spread I have ever eaten and my mum makes a pretty mean one too! Today was one of those days where I thought I deserve to spoil myself a little and ordered a Palmier with my soy latte. The palmier was crispy and buttery and flakey and absolutely delicious! Morning walk discovery. Morning walk and voila, a french cafe. Greeted with " bonjour" by a french baker. Lovely baggets, pastries and coffee.
Disappointed. I moved from the area and missed our local (Éclair) my favourite was the French Toast...beautiful Brioche rolled in cinnamon and sugar served with fresh whipped cream and maple syrup.....but on a recent trip back was horrified when I ordered the same thing only to be given a heavily dusted plate of cinnamon with the French toast with dobs of canned whipped cream all over the place and topped with chocolate sprinkles.......think the chef has changed as well as front of house, coffee not so good either....

YUM. I always have the same thing when I go to Éclair (ham and cheese croissant) which are delicious! But today I had the French toast...definitely my new favourite! The staff are always lovely, and it's a nice relaxed atmosphere. Don't forget to try the Eclairs..the best
This charming French cafe attracts to many locals including cyclists, gym goers and beach lovers. Today I had a chocolate crepe with orange and cream. It was the best crepe I'd ever eaten. Their baguettes and croissants are also the best in Melbourne just like what you get in Paris. Also must try is Eclairs... they come in different flavors and they are light and delicious.
Great spot. The staff are really nice (French) and the coffee was perfect. The communal table is quality. They even gave me a complimentary bread stick as it was near closing time and they wouldn't have used it. Very pleasant spot. Also heaps of cakes and sweets to choose from!

Rare, authentic French!. Right on Hampton St, just across the railway station, this small but busy cafe wafts out the fragrance of bread and pastries.
My companion and I visited here for breakfast on a sunny Saturday morning.
It was very busy, and has very few tables. It wasn't long though before a table freed up and we could sit.
Generally all patrons order and pay at the counter.
As it was so busy, it took some time for us to get the attention of those behind the counter and then for our orders (most of which were already pre-prepared and in the display) to be brought out to us.
We ordered:
1. Smoked salmon half baguette
2. Millefeuille
3. Crepes with lemon and sugar.
Smoked salmon half baguette was fresh and smelt lovely. The filling was smoked salmon, baby capers, coral lettuce, and mayonnaise.
The baguette itself was delicious! It was crusty on the outside and on the inside was just the right consistency. It was just like the quality you would find in France; not the usual cotton-wool-like substance we normally find in other baguettes.
The smoked salmon was fresh and of a good quality, as it smelt good, was a nice pinky colour, and tasted as good smoked salmon should.
The baby capers fit in nicely, as they do with most seafood. These were also quality ingredients, as they were capery but not sour.
The coral lettuce was fresh and added body and moisture to the sandwich.
The mayonnaise was good, however perhaps a little too much of this was put in.
Millefeuille, also known as 'Napoleon cake' looks similar to a Vanilla slice, except it has two or more layers.
The pastry was fresh and crunchy but not too dry or oily. It was just the right balance! The only downside is that in order to eat this dish, my companion had to remove the top layer of pastry, as it was thick and cutting it would cause the entire dessert to get squashed.
The vanilla custard/creme in between the layers was fresh and tasted like natural vanilla rather than something manufactured. It was thick, but not too thick. Just the right consistency for this dessert.
This is very much authentic French! Highly recommend trying this.
Crepes with lemon and sugar smelt irresistible.
There were two, folded into triangles, served with little flecks of lemon rind. I greedily dug in! However, I was unpleasantly surprised to find on the first bite that the sugar sprinkled inside the crepe was not caramelised nor even melted! I suspect that perhaps only one side of this crepe had time for the sugar to melt, while the other was either forgotten or not given enough time on the stove. When I opened one of the crepes there was a layer of unmelted sugar crystals which resembled ice. I removed this in order to enjoy this dish.
The crepes themselves were a nice consistency and slightly pale - perhaps they could do with more time in the pan. However with the lemon over them, they were fine.
If you are thinking of grabbing a quick bite or dessert, consider the Bread and the Pastries here, which appear to be the specialty of this place! Far exceeds any fast food chain.
Absolutely delicious pastries made right before your eyes. There is a viewing window into the kitchen. Lovely attentive service - it's clear that the owner really cares about product and the service. Will be back again very soon! Really want to try the Macarons and little sandwiches which looked amazing.
Delicious coffee and beautiful pastries. The croque madame was amazing. To top it off the chef brought out a special pastry for my girlfriend. A very enjoyable experience. We'll be back again and again!

A great little gem. Eclair is a great little gem in the heart of Hampton. The food is yummy, fresh and to my surprise very reasonably priced!! Pattiserie is to die for, especially chocolate croissants.
Its a fairly small cafe, so on a busy sat morning you might have to wait a little to get seated.

Great Coffee & Breakfast. Really good coffee, standard latte as well as soy latte. I had the croissant which was perfect and my friend had an egg & bacon roll. It looked great and the portion was big. Eclair is great little cafe to have in the area. The owners have a wonderful french accent. Will be back for sure, especially for the almond croissants and other cakes.
