Review The Olive Greek Restaurant And Bar - Harris Park

This is a lovely restaurant in the heart of Harris Park. We've meant to visit this place a few times, however it has always been packed to the rafters, and we haven't been able to get a table. It's very popular with big groups. The food is fresh and nicely presented. The chicken was very juicy and the meatballs were homemade and rustic. The decor is simple and classy. The staff are very attentive and made sure that we had everything we needed. It was a great dining experience. The prices are a little on high side.

After hearing great things about The Olive - I decided to go here with a group of work mates. We had to walk a considerable distance to get here from where we were staying though it was absolutely worth it. The quality of food was spectacular - we went with the banquet (Menu B) which had dips, pita, salad, haloumi, roast lamb, mixed souvlaki skewers, and potatoes. As I said, the quality was top notch, it very much reminded me of my Yiayia's cooking - authentic, genuine and of course, a sizeable portion. Thanks a lot to the team at The Olive.

Not professional Greek food compare with the price you will pay, as their 10$ Greek salad was very small, some of ingredients were not fresh and the cucumbers and tomatoes had cut and chopped without care and in bad shape. The Pitta bread was fresh and yummy. Ihad ordered Moussaka which was overcooked, no salt and oily. I disappointed. They have very friendly staff. Actually, I go to restaurant to have a different meal and environment not for friendly of staff...

A great place to lunch with a group of friends or family. Menu includes a set lunch selection with a great glass of good quality wine. Servings are generous. A homey verandah ambience. Colours of the Mediterranean. Owner is a Greek lady who is sociable.

It took several calls to book a table, but once we were there the warm casual atmosphere and the food made up for everything. I had the lunch special. The lamb souvlaki was divine, large portion and tender meat. Will be going there again very soon.

My favourite Greek Restaurant! I have had 3 birthday dinners and several other family dinners over the last 5 yrs. Service is relaxed and easy..the dishes are always sumptuous!

Absolutely terrible management. I highly recommend you avoid supporting this business. Here's the facts: - Booked a function for 30-35 people. Confirmed numbers (30) on the day of booking. - Paid a $200 deposit for the booking - After the meal, our bill had a charge for 37 people on it. - The manager said the charge for 7 extra ($350) was to cover no-shows. - I asked what we were paying for if they didn't arrive? - During our calm conversation, the manager rudely walked away twice, both times completely ignoring me, and once requiring the wait staff to find a colleague of the manager who would continue the conversation. - After lots of run around ("it's our policy", etc), the manager's colleague eventually revealed we had been served food for 37 people. - Happy with this, I asked if we could pay for the food that we consumed, but not the extras associated with having 7 more people at the booking (dirty dishes, wait staff, seats, etc). - Refusing to compromise, both the manager and the manager's colleague became rude, cutting me off, and raising their voices at me. - Multiple times they became accusatory; claiming we confirmed that 37 people would be eating a week before. And also falsely claiming our original booking was for 70, then we dropped it to 60, then to 40, then to 30. - In the end, we were forced to pay $350 for 7 people who didn't eat at the restaurant out of our own pocket. - I went out of my way to give my compliments individually to the chef and the wait staff. The food was excellent, and the wait staff attentive and friendly. The management is the worst I've ever come across. Do not give them your business.

Just a fantastic Greek restaurant that makes you feel most special and their service is just excellent. I would strongly recommendthat this place no matter what the occasion. Keep it up Sam & Maria and keep doing what you excel in, that is great food and service and your friendliness to all your clients. Cheers

The Olive is the best quality Greek restaurant in Australia. I have wide experience in the restaurant industry and this restaurant rates as Number 1. The owners are delivering the highest standard of food and the service is exemplary. This restaurant is operated how a proper restaurant should be run!!....Congratulations.
Μαρία και Σωτήρη. You definitely won't starve at this place! Our team from work came here for lunch (8ppl) and ordered the banquet menu C and their serving size is very generous. The service was great and they were very attentive. The only reason why I didn't give a 5 was the amount of time between the courses was a little longer than expected, and with the meats coming out last, by the time we got to eat them we were all too full to get stuck into it all.

We decided we wanted Greek food at 5pm on a Saturday afternoon. We called and lucky enough they had just had a cancellation! Lucky for us! We opted for the Greek Banquet @$65 per head. The bread with the dips was fresh and so good I would have been happy to just eat bread and dips all night, THen came halumoui and spicy sausage yum! The servings were so generous another two people could have shared our meal. Then came delicious lemon potatos and slow baked lamb, just melt in your mouth. The accompanying Greek Salad was also so good. Prawns and calamari came next both so flavoursome and cooked to perfection. We were so full but everything was so good we just couldn't stop. Last but certainly not least was the little honey puff donuts and icecream with cinnamon. Everything that was put in front of us was just amazing. Service was really friendly but a little bit clumsy, but when the food is good, who cares!! Really great food and such good value. Will certainly be going back.Leave plenty of time to get a park though. This is a busy dining precinct.

I was very happy with my meal at The Olive. I was met with a positive attitude from Maria. As I was dining alone, I asked "what does one person eat at a Greek restaurant?". She advised me to get a small platter and I was very happy with this suggestion. It was not busy at the time, however Maria was very attentive and extremely polite and respectful of her patrons, many of which are normally the complete opposite to the Greeks. I would have loved to enjoy a saganaki or meat platter, but dining for one doesn't lend itself well to a huge variety. Nonetheless, very satisfied and will return when in the area again.

The Greek food was amazing, went for business lunch ordered the fixed menu of lamb kebabs this was excellent, came with pita breads, and the haloumi, tatziki, salads and whole plate of condiments. The food was excellent and felt authentic Greek. But the piece the resistance was the grilled prawns could tartare the ocean. Was amazing keep it up..

Fantastic Greek food. Absolutely great wholesome Greek food. Loved the $60 banquet pp. Plenty of food. Fresh. Great friendly service. They accomodated our kids which were 13 yrs and under. Can not wait to go back again with other friends so they can try it.

Overpriced food. Came in with a group and had the $60 banquet. Included was bread with 3 kinds of dips, a potato puree, chorizo, halumi cheese, calamari, greek salad, baked lamb and potato, prawns, and dessert, all of which is shared between the diners on your table. Although that sounds like a lot of food, it definitely wasn't worth the $60. The food was decent but nothing memorable or special and i cant really pick out a standout, although i was disappointed with the lamb which tasted plain and dry in some parts. The food was a little too oily for my liking as most of the dishes were literally drenched in oil. There was nothing wrong with the service but it wasn't on par with the quality of service that you would expect at a place where you are charged $60 for a set menu.

What a feast!. I ate at Olive recently with family to celebrate a birthday, and we all absolutely loved it. The food, the service, the overall ambience... Everything was spot on.

It was not only my first time at Olive but also my first time eating at a Greek restaurant, and the staff Sam and Maria ensured our dinner was one of the best we've ever had! Servings were huge (even for the boys) and the food was extremely tasty. Excellent value for money in my opinion, we will definitely be back. I definitely recommend Olive at Harris Park.

We went for my birthday party. Good service but they are not kids friendly and is too expensive. They serve a good portions dishes. We loved the taramosalata dip absolutely delicious! At the end good "expensive" greek restaurant in the jungle of indians...

A bloody rip off, I went with friends for dinner at the Olive, we ordered the platter choice for $50per head and it was ok nothing special... There were seven of us and expecting 7platters but instead getting only three..we didn't order any alcohol but we end up having to pay almost $600 at the end . it was misleading and deceptive conduct . Will never dine here again, it's ridiculous considering the location we should have tried the Indian restaurants on the side..

Great night out. Me and my family have being going to this restraint for about 6 years now and we always have a good time. We always come in groups of at least 10 and nothing has ever been a hassle. The music and dancing on the weekend is lots of fun!!

I went to the Olive last week for my birthday with a group of 9. The waitress was so accommodating - they had no children's menu but asked the chef to make some lamb shish kebabs for my step son...nothing was a hassle. I will admit, the wine was pricey, so next time will BYO, but there will be a next time. I couldn't fault the food. Even dad who doesn't like anything walked away asking if he could have his 60th there in a few months.

Olive Restaurant, Harris Park. We went to Olive with 2 friends, having read a SMH Review. I was surprised to see no menu, only fixed price menus. The cheapest was $40/head and the dearest $60. which is thought exorbitant but we had no option. The cheapest bottle of NZ white wine was $40, also a rip-off, as it sells for under $12. The food tumbled out and was tasty but the lamb although tender, was very unappetising to look at, as it was on the bone. Instead of tender chicken skewers, the chicken looked processed and was dry. The salad was meanly portioned and the vegetables ordinary.

I often to to the Corinthian at Marrickville which is extremely good, cheap and generous, also allows BYO wine.

The Olive on a scale of 1 to 10, with Corinthian being 9, rates 2.

I won't be going back and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
