Review Hakata Gensuke Hawthorn - Hawthorn

Very standard Hakata ramen that you can expect from the chain. The rich and steamy ramen is perfect for winter. There is a set available in the Hawthorn branch that is good value for money, you can pick a side and a drink with your ramen. The Mentai rice was a bit disappointing though, the Mentai paste was way less than what was showed in the menu.

Having read the positive reviews for this place, no doubt I went in with high expectations. The black and signature ramen did not disappoint. Dumplings was ok but came out a little burnt. Price is reasonable for the food quality. Would definitely come back next time, probably with more toppings 👍

Our favourite ramen in Melbourne for quite some time now. Was sad the Doncaster store closed but thankful Hawthorn is still there. Always come here when we have ramen cravings.

Wow what can I say… I don’t even know where to begin. the broth was MSG flavouring and super diluted broth (basically of water consistency). There was no depth, and was overpowered by white pepper seasoning (which all sunk to the bottom of the bowl). The noodles clumped up, the chashu was tough, I paid close to $30 to get this special shio ramen and I’m sorely disappointed. The other reviews about it being like a Chinese noodle place is right. I don’t even know what happened, esp I’ve had your noodles in both Russell street and the chicken ramen shop- they were both so amazing. The bowl I got served yesterday was subpar and I just don’t know how two shops can differ so much in quality. Would really like to know what happened!

Food: Consistently awesome. Service: Consistently awesome. Location: Main road, need to park around the back. Place is quite roomy for prams, etc. Value: Well priced for the superb quality. Summary: We've been here like a dozen times. Better than lining up on the Russell Street one. You seen the line there?

Nice authentic ramen. Quality wise it is consistent with other Hakata Gensuke stores. The place is spacious and the lighting it good. Only 4 star because finding parking is a big problem and the prices are a little dearer than competitors.

Very friendly customer experience, the waitress n waiter will recommend the options. The meal is a culinary experience- the soup is thick and savoury.

I'm really sad that this place has gone downhill. The service used to be excellent but the last 2 times we have visited it has been terrible. They seem more focused on filling Uber Eats orders than waiting on customers in the restaurant.

I like spicy soups. This place had one of the best I have found, ever.

Soup and noodle and karage are up to my standard . BUT... I AM REALLY DISAPPOINTED WITH the flavoured egg was not up to the standard, I feel cheated . I Paid $4 for 2 eggs . Because it says flavoured egg , to me it is just a normal boiled egg with only egg taste . A flavoured egg is supposed with salty sweet taste I. The egg . But this is not .. it is only a normal boiled egg. To all the customer , should not order the so called flavoured egg . Is not worth it .
