Good service nice vibe not too loud to have a conversation at table. Happy with tastes and presentation all the way till dessert as high hope to see something creative but didn’t find. Apart from that cocktail portion can be a bigger considering the price.
Came here for an evening coffee as it was on of the only places open and I wanted to check out the space. It's beautiful and comfortable with plush seating and exposed brick walls and brushed gold accents. My extra hot soy flat white was very hot and decent-tasting but not great. A bit too strong-tasting yet not a super strong coffee. One thing a really loved about it, though, was the cute, off-white vintage-looking saucer set. Staff are all young and friendly and seen to be pretty attentive. Definitely keen to come back for (stiffer) drinks.
This is a beautiful wine bar that is all class. A beautiful open space with stunning exposed brickwork, dark woods and luxe fittings. Even though it's a large space, it can be enjoyed for an intimate date night just as much as a large group get together.
I came here recently for an afternoon glass of wine or two, and I enjoyed the elegant ambience. It was a busy lunch crowd, but the staff still looked after us well. We enjoyed several glasses of delicious rosè and a yummy bowl of eggplant and zucchini chips from the bar snack menu. The perfect nibbles for a relaxing afternoon drink.
The service was really good, and the staff were friendly. Even though it was busy, there wasn't too much noise, and we could still enjoy our conversation. I've yet to try the full food menu, but judging by my recent experience, Young's Wine Rooms is definitely a place that I can't wait to return to.
The interior is edgy and interesting and so is the menu. We chose three small plates and one veggie dish to share, the outstanding dish was the octopus. We were able to enjoy a mini wine tasting before committing, (very impressive), the crew were excellent, but the noise levels were up there even when the venue was half full.
Previously the iconic Young's Auction House (1930 - 2015), the space has now been transformed into a classy wine bar and restaurant. The fit-out is impressive including an open kitchen that delivered great food and friendly folk who looked after us. Says it all!
We went to Young’s for my mum’s birthday on. Saturday night. We had a booking and were seated quickly.
It was too hard to choose from the menu so we all decided to have the $65 Feed Me Regale.
The food was exceptionally good - the chefs obviously know what they are doing however, I was disappointed that were not served a “LARGE” menu item as a part of the Feed Me Regale offer. The wait staff said that there will be one but when we were given 2 sides and then served the Octopus as the main to go with it to finish the meal, that was disappointing.
Patrons should note that the Regale does not include dessert either.
It would have been fine if we weren’t anticipating a main but when it wasn’t served, that was disappointing.
Real score 4.3 out of 5.
A very impressive restaurant. We had a terrific dinner here. The fit out is superb. It’s an outstanding space. The food is brilliant. Every dish we had was wonderful. Service was up and down though. Some very good, some not so.
We received some sound advice about our initial wine choice, the Mornington on skins pinot gris. It was said to be a little bitter and that was spot on. The second wine recommendation on a pinot noir wasn’t anywhere near as successful. The server said it wasn’t a light pinot but I found that it was. It also took us a long time to procure the second bottle. It took quite a while to attract a server for the wine list and even longer after that to attract a server again to order. I only mention it because it was very frustrating at the time.
We were given some beautiful bread and ricotta to start. We loved it. I chose an unusual starter, char grilled leek. This was faultlessly good! Soft, smoky and delicious. It was pure joy to eat. I had duck for main. That too was excellent. A lovely dish that was flavoursome and lovely. The sides were pure joy too. Some broccolini as well as a mixed salad and a cauliflower dish. They also could not be faulted. We loved them and celebrated that all dishes were a decent size too. The others thoroughly enjoyed their main dishes as well. They were variously the carpaccio of king salmon, croquette, mussels, the octopus (“it’s the best octopus I’ve ever had”) and the fish special.
We finished with coffees and some cleansing shiraz. There were still plenty of people around at the end of the night but it was hard not to get an impression that the staff wanted us to move on which we did of course.
We had a really lovely night here. It’s a very very good restaurant. The food is top class. Great range, beautifully cooked and presented and generous portions. There’s certainly enough good wines on the wine list to provide a sound option. it’s a lovely space too. The service is very pleasant but rather up and down given our experiences last night. No doubt that will improve over time.
Really nice place. We’ll be back for sure.
Loved everything about this place. Staff were great, sommelier fun and food delicious. Great atmosphere and just what Camberwell needs. Will be back.
Everything about this place is cool and has a NYC style vibe! The octopus was cooked to perfection and the flavours really popped. My other favourite dish was the tartare 🤤
Went out for a friends birthday the food and the wine were lovely. The service wasn’t to bad but a few mistakes. The noise level made it extremely difficult to hold a conversation might want to think about something to dull the noise.
This is a trendy new venue in Hawthorn with a stunning interior! We enjoyed a range of delicious dishes, and good cocktails and wine! The food was delicious from the fresh fish, oysters, hummus and cheese cake to die for!
The old auction house has been transformed into this large eating space. Try and snag a table in the inside courtyard. Middle eastern influence on the food which is relish. My go to would be the raw section. All sharing, all delish. Ps if you think the Brussel sprouts are a healthy option, think again, they’re deep fried!

I had a really lovely dinner at Young's last night!
First of all - the décor is gorgeous! Service was great too, although there was a little delay in getting our order out. Understandable as they were so busy!
I tried the Hummus, charred Tomato, the Broccolini and the Risotto. All veggie-friendly dishes and the flavours were incredible. I was really impressed with all the dishes. Very well done!
I also tried the Prosecco and the Tom Collins cocktail. Both just lovely. The cocktail was strong which I love!!
Price-wise I think it is a little too expensive for my liking, as the serving sizes are quite small. It's a great place for a special occasion or a drink! Great to see more wine bars around in the Camberwell area.
Entrees/smaller dishes were the highlight. Next time I would skip the larger dishes and focus on a whole lot of smaller plates and dessert! Great for Camberwell
Beautiful venue, great service (thanks Josh!), and of course the main drawcard was the Basque influenced menu. Real food executed very well. Freshly baked bread served with ricotta kicked off lunch just the way we liked. Do yourself a favour and order these. Tapas - Hamon Iberico Croqueta and Crispy Brussel Sprouts with Sucuk. Mains - Dry Aged Rib Eye and an honest John Dory served whole. Don’t leave without a serve (or two!) of the decadent La Vina inspired Burnt Cheesecake. Easily one of the best you can find in Melbourne. We will return soon for Friday night drinks and to savour the rest of the very inviting menu.
Just what we needed in Camberwell. Great food and atmosphere. Cocktails were not as spectacular as we expected. Maisy was a bit boring and the Eastsider was a tad sour. Balance was out. The oysters were fresh and kings fish was seared to perfection. Loved the octopus even though it was a bit dry. Smoked tomato and basil was different but sweet. Tartare lacked lime and salt but overall the dishes were lovely. Cheesecake is a must. Service was standard.
After-work drinks or mid-day celebrations in Hawthorn East just got a whole lot better with the opening of Young’s wine rooms. It’s a gorgeous space with high ceiling, brick rendered walls and an open outside area out the back. They have delicious little foods to munch on while your sipping on some bangin’ cocktails and top-quality wine.
We had my sister’s bridal shower celebrations here, and were treated by attentive friendly staff, fast service and delicious tapas. The cheese selection and hummus was a favourite. It’s also a beautiful venue for events. Highly recommended!
Great food, great cocktails, wonderful ambience. Friendly staff and beautiful dining space. Tad on the pricey side, but worth a visit once in a while.
Such a gorgeous yet intimate venue. With such friendly and personable staff who did everything in their power to make our experience and enjoyable one. The wide array of alcohol behind the bar was also nothing sort of impressive
There’s 7 of us and went there originally just for drinks on a Friday night before dinner at a restaurant nearby, but then we loved it so much we stayed for dinner and cancelled our dinner booking. The ambience was perfect for a Friday night, relaxed and warm, with a rustic feel. All the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The food is some of the best I’ve ever had. The duck and ox tongue is a must try. And the vanilla dessert. Can’t wait to go back for another great time.
Went there for dinner on a Thursday night. By 7.30 the place was busy. The fit out awesome, exposed brick and beams. The food delicious , I had the rump steak which was great. The risotto was amazing also as well as all the entrees. Wine selection is great and let the waiter choose my red for the main meal and he picked an amazing red for me. Will be going back again. Loved it.
