Review Fat Boy Thai Kitchen - Hawthorn

Wanida Patummanusorn
Foods was soooo good and came so fast , we love all dishes, reasonable price and staffs are so friendly. Definitely will recommend to all friends and want to go back again and again :)

I’ve always ordered the cashew nuts and chili jam with tofu and vegetables. This has probably been the worst one. The dish came with only 3 small pieces of tofu. My partners dish (pineapple fried rice with tofu came with 1.5 pieces. Unfortunately this is the last time we will be eating from here after ordering and dining in for over 3 years.

Food wasn't cooked properly, for instance, raw vegetables in my massaman and very watery. Waitress also rude, so surprised I choose not to order rice along with my curry. Won't return!

Food was delicious. Ordered it online and was still piping hot when we got home. Whole family loved it. Very hygenic and clean, staff were all very lovely and kind. Would definitely go back again.

The quality of your food didnt meet my expectation. All of our meals lacked depth and flavour. My least favourite was the prawns, they tasted WRONG fishy and stinky as though they were so far past there fresh date that they wouldnt be considered safe for human consumption. it was especially unfortunate for me that I opted for prawns in 3/4 of my meals...which means i spent close to $100 on garbage. This culinary experience has left me with hurt feelings and a sore stomach

I tried Fat Boy Thai Kitchen because I found it in the Entertainment Book (which makes me try new places I might not otherwise go to). It's quite small inside, so I'd definitely make a booking as there were a couple of bigger parties seated. There is an upstairs section, but I don't know how big it is up there. One thing I loved was that you couldn't see into the kitchen. I don't love that about restaurants, and was happy not to be able to look in. The menu doesn't stand out from other Thai restaurants. I got my usual Chicken Curry Puffs and my Chicken Fried Rice. The curry puffs were nice, but not outstanding. The fried rice was good, but also nothing more amazing than elsewhere. When the entrees came out, the waitress didn't ask who ordered what. She just put things down in front of all of the wrong people. It came out in a good time frame, but that was a little "unprofessional" if I'm going to be picky. The staff were friendly though, and very accommodating when it came to menu modifications. They got it all right and that's a big plus with me. The only other slight negative was that because the restaurant is quite small, when people wait for their take out orders, they almost stand on top of your table waiting. It's kind of awkward for both them and the diners, but at least some didn't have to wait too long. Overall, I'd recommend Fat Boy Kitchen if you're in the area. It's a good half hour drive for me, so I wouldn't visit again necessarily unless I was in the area (and parking can be really bad), but it's well priced, reasonable and friendly service, and tasty.

I went there with a friend to have a quick dinner. I loved there coconut prawns and roti and peanut sauce. They were so yum and it is very easy to order and pay as well. Scan order and pay and food will be ready few minutes and they will serve the deliciousness... Love it... Thank you guys

The duck curry was great, while the sticky ribs were ok (the meat wasn’t quite falling of the bone). The serving sizes were just right. It’s definitely not the most authentic Thai but still tasty.

Pathetic. Ordered a meal at 730pm. No delivered by 830pm. Tried calling three times, no answer. Went to the place, asked after our meal. They claimed to be busy - 2 tables only occupied. They went out back to find where the delivery person was, 5mins later a different person came and asked what the problem was. Meanwhile the delivery person had come to the house. No discount, no offer of a refund. Food cold. They were apologetic, so that's something. I guess. Who cares what the food tastes like when it takes so long to get it??

Great food but cant get a delivery in Kew but will deliver to Kew East. Way to lose a customer.

Excellent service and great quality of food! The fried flat rice noodles were a hit - very fragrant with the addition of green peppercorns. I'm going to become a regular here :)

enjoyed the food, nice ambient, good service, and well priced. will be back for more.

Their $9.90 lunch special is ridiculously good value for great food.

My husband and I went for dinner. On our way back home, we both had heaps of laugh and happy feeling for fantastic food and services. Thank you so much for making our night this happy!!! :)

We got take away from Fat Boy. I was really keen for Sohle<br/>Massaman Curry and it was average. Unfortunately the meat was chunky which was great but it was really dry and it certainly wasn't marinated in the curry sauce which was ok flavour wise<br/><br/>Pad See Ew with extra chilli and chicken which was really tasty and spicy whoa!! Woo hoo haha.<br/><br/>The Roti bread was good but wee definitely needed more sauce as it was a bit dry otherwise and the massaman curry sauce was... Mmnn.<br/><br/>The Vegetarian curry puffs were excellent, so much so if that's all we ordered I would have been a very happy man! <br/><br/>The gai satay chicken skewers were good without being memorable.<br/><br/>Overall this was a good meal but I'd have reservations about getting take away again. <br/><br/><br/><br/>Previous review August 2018<br/>My partner and I had dinner here last night. The service was really nice from the waitresses. The restaurant has an upstairs area which was great as we sat up there and it was much quieter than downstairs.<br/><br/>For entree we ordered some chicken puffs which were tasty but I suspect they were frozen. <br/><br/>The roti bread was absolutely delicious, hot steamy and the peanut sauce... wow!! If it was bottled I’d buy it hahahaha <br/><br/>The massaman curry sauce was really tasty but the chunky pieces of beef were quite hard and obviously not cooked w the curry. Still very good and I really enjoyed the sweet potato in the dish. <br/><br/>The Khee Mao (thick rice noodle dish) w chicken was good and the serving sizes were quite generous. <br/><br/>Overall this was a really good meal w reasonable prices for both the food and drinks. Definitely worth a visit.

A basic place to eat with tasty food.<br/><br/>The food here feels fresh and home cooked.<br/><br/>The service seemed to be all over the place.  The wait staff had a difficult time answering questions about the menu and at one point it was impossible to catch their attention as they chatted at the reception desk.<br/><br/>The tables were sticky and place it felt a bit tired.<br/><br/>Food 3.5*<br/>Service 2.5*<br/>Ambiance 2.5*
Good Food Good Mood
My brother in law recently moved to Hawthorn so we chose Fat Boy Thai for family dinner. I knew we were in for good food having visited the Windsor sister restaurant but what I couldn’t anticipate was the very clumsy service. Unfortunately the staff struggled to understand us which didn’t help.<br/><br/>We ordered spring rolls and two serves of chicken skewers to start so there was enough for all of us. Only one of the skewers arrived (the second appearing midway through our mains after I followed up) but we also got one of our mains, the green curry and our two serves of rice. We had ordered coconut rice and got regular so that was sent back.<br/><br/>By the time the correct rice arrived which was actually some time later (surprising as I assume it’s all in a big pot somewhere) the curry was near cold. Highlights however were a very delicious pad Thai and an equally impressive chicken cashew nut which had an extremely flavoursome sauce. It’s a shame the experience was lessened by the clunky service

I picked Fat Boy Thai Kitchen because it was the most favourite Thai Cuisine that have shown on my Menulog and Uber Eat app. I ordered (Satay fired chicken and Pad Kee Mao Cuisines online and delivered by MenuLog. They are not authentic Thai actually. I am a little bit disappointed about that.<br/><br/><br/>Suzy

3.5/5<br/>Ordered take away from here and I enjoyed most of the dishes. We got the massamum curry, green curry, pad Thai, roti and spring rolls.<br/><br/>The sauce of the massamum curry was delicious except the beef was super hard to chew and very tough. The green curry was also very tasty and the chicken was cooked nicely. <br/><br/>The roti and peanut sauce was very nice also 🙌🏼

very nice Thai food even it is different form how authentic thai fod should be done but surely good enough to satisfy my thai food craving. will be back
Hello. Imnikki
I don't think I have ever seen a restaurant with such a roaring trade in the delivery business before. There was a whole table set aside to put those orders waiting to be picked up, and when one was gone, another took its placed within minutes. This went on the whole time I was dining there. Suffice to say, this led me to anticipate what they had to offer.<br/><br/>When I started digging in, I began to understand why they were so popular. While not mind-blowing in any way, they were undeniably tasty and flavourful. Reasonably priced, and the generous portion sizes add to the appeal.<br/><br/>The sticky pork ribs were in fact very impressive. The meat was tender, and fell of the bone. The sauce possessed not just a deep savoury flavour, but also a mellow caramelised sweetness. This was the best dish of the night.<br/><br/>The Panang curry was a rich and flavourful dish, a tiny bit on the sweet side, and while the roti was nothing to shout about, it was indispensable for mopping up all the delicious curry.<br/><br/>The calamari salad provided a nice balance to the more intense dish, and stimulate our taste buds with its tangy and piquant sauce. Speaking of piquant, my partner and my friend both found the Khee Mao too spicy, but me, I was happy that I didn't have to share. In the end, I got a bit too stuffed from finishing it all though.<br/><br/>Even with the crazy amount of orders, and the place being almost full, it was a very reasonable wait time for our meal. It helps too that they are staffed by 4 very efficient staffs. A very enjoyable dinner, and if you have the Entertainment Book or the EatClub app, dining here is definitely worth your time and money.

Have both dined in and ordered takeaway a few times. <br/>Very authentic, decent price, large portion sizes and friendly staff. <br/>Green curry, golden bags, cashew and chilli jam are a must. <br/><br/>Probably avoid the soft shell crab as takeaway, it got pretty soggy by the time we got home

We came here on a quiet Wednesday night. Staff were friendly and the food came out quickly. The Pad See Ewe was delicious! Coconut rice also yum. Will definitely be back.

Delicious! Went here with workmates and have been back since. Great food, reasonably priced lunch menu and friendly staff.<br/>Looking forward to my next visit.

The service was very average with a waitress who was obviously not enjoying her job. <br/>The food was ok. Nothing amazing. Spring rolls and dumplings were just warm. Roti bread over cooked and dry. Mains were average.
Marie
Have eaten here a few times but got takeaway tonight which was disappointing.<br/><br/>Wasn’t greeted on the phone - had to ask 3 times if I was speaking to ‘fat boy thai’ before someone responded.<br/><br/>Was told it would be 20 minutes, arrived to pick up after 20 minutes and had to wait another 30 minutes for the order.<br/><br/>Chicken pad Thai was overly sweet and sauce too thick (normally get vegetable pad Thai which is much better).<br/><br/>Food not worth waiting nearly an hour for.

I was looking around chapel street for a nice lunch and I found this restaurant..., I had a Pad Thai with prawns which was perfectly cooked and full of prawns !! I really liked it . <br/>

Vinh and I ordered here using uber eats as we were in the mood for some thai. Overall found the food here very average, particularly compared to the many thai options near by. The green curry had an indescribable strong and unpleasant taste and the coconut rice barely tasted of coconut. The pad thai was good but nothing special. We ordered some spring rolls as a last minute add on and honestly they were the star of the dish. Wouldn’t order here again.<br/><br/>Until next time<br/>Ashy and Vinh

We came here because we had an Entertainment Book voucher, and probably wouldn't come back without one. Food was average, pork belly was overly spicy (and yet dry),pork ribs were advertised as falling off the bone yet this was not the case, and the fried chicken was too sweet.
Ian Sawers
Great food and great value. <br/>But, and this is not just Fat Boy Thai, the constant presence of Uber Eats, Foodora and Deliveroo riders destroys the vibe.<br/>Staff were too busy responding to orders online to serve us, and we were told “Please wait I’m busy” after being seated for 30 minutes.<br/>I guess the time to decide whether you’re serving the at home market or in-house diners is fast approaching.
Wingster
Great Thai in a modern, relaxed style and setting. Prompt and friendly but not overly fussy service. One of our favourite locals which has never disappointed.
Thavisha Rambukwella
Iv dined in and gotten takeaway and have not been disappointed with the food. Ordered some Thai fried rice, beef stir fry with cashew and the red curry. They were all delicious! Love the stir fry, it had so much flavour. The service was good. The place is a little small but it gets pretty crowded. Will definitely go back to try more!
Madam E The Vegan
Nice space to dine in and love the name of the place. They can make solid pad thai and pad see ewe - nice flavours and don’t skimp in the vegetables. The pad thai does not taste like tomato sauce! The uber/deliveroo drivers that come in all the time make this place feel cheap and ruins the nice atmosphere.
Espy Eats
Felt like Thai after a film at The Lido and ended up discovering Fat Boy Thai at the far end of Glenferrie Road. A nice interior and friendly greeting and we were promptly seated. There was a steady stream of Uber Eats drivers coming and going.<br/><br/>The menu was quite the usual Thai fare and mains built largely around the idea of selecting protein of choice and then dish of choice.<br/><br/>We chose chicken and corn moneybag dumblings for starters, a prawn pad see ewe and a chicken green curry with rice and roti.<br/><br/>Food was really quick and full of flavour. The green curry spice level was at medium and was fine for me but perhaps at the top of KD’s range so perhaps ask for it to be dialed down a little. We loved the flat noodles and the prawns but noted that we only got 4 prawns with this dish which we paid a premium price for. Not really adequate in my opinion but still a tasty dish. <br/><br/>Roti was delicious as was the Thai milk iced tea drink and KD’s vino.<br/><br/>Overall we enjoyed the taste and service of Fat Boy Thai Kitchen.
Matt MacDonald
Good basic Thai food, fast. Nothing special, but will cure those Thai cravings. Service is good, and they use all the usual Melbourne delivery options.
Jtsgqsdhrzm
Delicious, fast food service. Like the crispy pork and the tofu salad. Also the fried barramundi with tamarin sauce was the most favourite one. U have to try as long as u got there. Otherwise u gonna regret.

Brought by Foodora, quite fast and the food are still hot. The Pad that is on average, not full of flavour.<br/>Fried rice is pretty good. <br/>The price is higher than the usual Thai restaurant.
Aleg93
One of our favourite Uber Eats picks - always great food and plenty of vegetarian options too! Usually speedy delivery and prices are reasonable for portion sizes.
Jadeanuttall
Best Thai food I’ve ever had!!!! Perfect amount of chilli and the people who work there are so amazing and sweet. Would go back any time!!!!
Justine
Vegetable pad see ew very tasty, veges cooked perfectly and still slightly crunchy. The Penang curry with chicken was a average. The curry was very watery/thin, and no vegetables in it. Bought with deliveroo.
Nman
We made a late booking on a Friday night and managed to squeeze in dinner before they closed. The staff were friendly and the interior was modern. I had read a few other reviews so we had to order the Penang curry chicken which tasted great. We also ordered a red curry salmon which was well cooked although the red curry lacked a Thai flavor and was rather bland. The Penang curry also lacked vegetables which I am used to having with my curry at other restaurants.  The menu had a variety of options although the dessert options were lacking of a traditional Thai restaurant and mainly consisted of ice creams (what happend to the Banana fritter? ) Overall not bad I will be back to try a few other dishes. Note: they are in the entertainment book.

Lunch deal is definitely value for money! $10 for a plate of stir fry noodles in the heart of Hawthorn smack on Glenferrie road. <br/>I had the stir fry flat rice noodle with egg (not pad Thai) and I requested for spicy. Spicy was what I got :) not complaining. However, there were too much carrots and not enough noodles. The dish had an aromatic wok charred smell which boost the flavour of the noodles. My friend had tomyum noodles and she said it was below average. But tomyum is such a personal taste dish. <br/>Might just come back again for dinner and try out other dishes!
Medium Rare Steak
Yet another great Thai restaurant. It is quite small but cosy looking. Good friendly service, always with a smile. A nice selection of dishes on the menu, even beers.<br/>Good music. Food was great, although the curry was a little sweet. I wasn't impress with the crispy pork belly as it was deep fried!! Parking also wasn't so easy around this area. Took me a good 25 minutes on a Thursday night.
Yve Lim
Got uber eats. Loved each dish. Tom Yum soup was yuummmzzz. And roti dip was delish. The basic fried rice was enjoyably HoT and the sauce not overpowering. Loved all the fresh ingredients in each of the dishes!! Highly recommend it if you are looking for high quality reasonably priced Thai food!
Ally
A cute and small restaurant with good service. The green curry had a nice little kick of spice to it which was nice as I've been to many places that made green curry sweet. The pad Thai tasted good but the noodles were chewy and you can't really go wrong with roti and coconut rice. The food was served very quickly. Would definitely come back
Amimi
Hip, modern, comfortable restaurant without any cooking smell sticking onto your clothes.  More variety than the usual Thai restaurant.  Everything we had was delicious and flavoursome.  Maybe abit too flavoursome with MSG, it certainly leaves you thirsty all night.
Wai Leong
Awesome restaurant! Fantastic food and service. All meals we ordered were delicious and good serving size! Staffs are very friendly and the atmosphere is great. Will definitely be back again. No doubt recommending it to my friends !
Marika Athanasiades
One of the best ones I've been to so far. Food was superb, beyond my expectation! Reasonable pricing and friendly staff! Will be back again.
Barry W Jenkin
Surprised this came up as a favourite Thai on my UberEats. Didn't taste like real Thai. Very very basic. Barramundi was bland. Could tell just looking at the green curry chicken that it wasn't authentic Thai and the taste confirmed. Disappointing.
Zoe Garkinis
Enjoyed the pad Thai, masaman was tasty but beef a bit tough, satay chicken was pretty good but would've liked more satay sauce. Would return overall.
Lisa Giles
As a lover of Thai food, I really rate this place. We've eaten here and have also ordered take away. Both are great. Food never disappoints. Love the massaman curry and the pad see ewe, both very full of flavour. Will continue to order from here.
Heidi
I found a voucher for Fat Boy Thai in my entertainment book, a lucky find as it was all really delicious and very well priced too! We particularly liked the Penang curry and fried calamari! We had a feast and it was all really nice. Attentive staff too!
OmNom
Came here for a quick bite to eat for dinner on a Thursday night. They were relatively busy and they were churning out lots of Uber Eats pickups,<br/>yet the service was prompt and we didn’t have to wait long for our food.<br/><br/>The mussamun curry beef was tender and tasty, and the chicken pad thai was fresh and zesty. Both dishes were on the sweet side but we enjoyed them.
Carmen N
Really loved this place. Panang curry was spot on! Calamari was also really tender. Beef Pad Thai was also tasty. The restaurant itself was very nice. Service was great and the food came out pretty speedy! Would love to go again. Especially with quite a decent menu.

First time to try Fat Boy Thai ... Mixed review but the upshot is that will certainly try FBT a second time to determine if this could become a regular 'go-to Thai' choice.<br/><br/>* Note that this order was home delivery via MenuLog so may not reflect the standards and/or portions as might be experienced in a dine-in setting.<br/><br/>-- DISHES -- <br/><br/># Sticky Pork Rib ... Superb! Good portions, meltingly tender and soooo tasty - ordered this based on other positive reviews and so glad we did!  ... Reorder? Yes! Absolutely and definitely :)<br/>- - - <br/># Crispy Pork Belly with Chinese Broccoli ... Really loved the taste. Would love to order again but really let down by portion size; wasn't truly enough for a main and $16 makes it an expensive side dish  ... Reorder? Possibly; as long as it was counted on just for a side dish :/<br/>- - - <br/># Jungle Curry ... OMG the taste was awesome! But again, let down somewhat by portion size. Fantastic amount of curry sauce but ended up having to add in a lot more additional veges to achieve a reasonable amount of content  ... Reorder? Possibly; with extra veges ready on standby :/<br/>- - - <br/># Satay Chicken … Hmmm, just OK really. Chicken portions good for entree but a tad dry. Sauce wasn't enough for 4 sticks, and a little on the bland side ... Reorder? Don’t think so :(<br/>- - -  <br/># Large steamed rice ... Nicely steamed; good taste and texture but not what could be considered 'large' - more like medium serve :/<br/><br/>-- DELIVERY -- <br/><br/># Time ... Excellent; was a Saturday evening so expected that the order may be delayed, however the order actually arrived 40 mins early :)<br/># Temperature ... Arrived still hot, woohoo! :)<br/># Packaging ... Good packaging & extra wrapping to ensure no spillage messes :)<br/># Driver ... Friendly and read instructions properly (as GPS/maps sometimes provides hit-and-miss navigation to this address)<br/>  :)

Great food at great value. Overtime it has become popular which could be seen in the number of people. Sometimes i find hard to get parking nearby as its in Glenferrie road.
Melissa Dever
I've ordered a few times before, the food is always good but last time they lost my order and I had to reorder an hour later. <br/><br/>Tonight I gave them another go and ordered $60 of food. Everything arrived on time... but the Pineapple Fried Rice came without pineapple. <br/><br/>This is like ordering a Hawaiian pizza and not getting pineapple. I don't mind mistakes happening but when Eat Now rang the restaurant to explain and ask for a credit for the rice - they said no. Pretty poor attitude. <br/><br/>Fat Boy Thai are now blacklisted and my weekly Thai order is going to a competitor.
Mark Russell
Good food at reasonable prices. Their chefs specials provide a good variation from standard Thai fare, but that's there too and it's done well. The service, however, leaves much to be desired with the staff being slow to see their priorities which spoiled the whole experience as we looked at empty plates while they did other things at unattended tables.
Sally Waller
Always fresh ingredients. Always delicious (best golden bags I've had for ages). Always delivered promptly. Definitely in my top 5 Thai places around Hawthorn. Thanks guys!

Always busy with diners, group functions and takeaway orders, this tiny venue has a simple modern and attractive decor with a sweet quirky wall art of the Fat boy mascot. The space can be a bit of a tight squeeze during peak times. Service is friendly and reasonable. <br/><br/>The menu consists of Thai cuisine with some tasty and fresh dishes. The Roti bread was a lovely entrée accompanied by a peanut satay sauce, the bread is served warm, soft and stretchy, the perfect way to mop any sauces/curries. The prawns in pepper and garlic sauce were a pleasant surprise, the prawns were cooked to tender and juicy, perfectly salted and engulfed with the charred flavor of the fire (this does it for me!). The green beef curry came with green beans and sliced bamboo shoots was a perfect accompaniment with the coconut rice- the level of spice was relatively low. <br/><br/>
Flaming Goose70
Cute little thai restaurant with a casual, laid back feel but fairly small downstairs. Being a busy Saturday night we were placed upstairs. Big No No!!!! Service was terrible, our food took way too long to arrive and not all at the same time. Having said that the food was quite nice all round. Beware the chef's idea of medium chilli is HOT🔥Make sure you ask for mild....
Foodie In Chief
Probably the most horrible food I've ever put in my mouth! Got delivery from this place a couple of nights ago (took them over an hour even though I live nearby) and was immensely disappointed. I ordered spring rolls (half cooked, cold inside, tasted bitter), fried calamari (turned out uncooked) and stir fried noodles with beef and vegetables (soaked in some unappetizing sauce, tasted horrible). I had to throw the whole thing out right away without going through even half of it, something I've never done, will never order from here again, won't recommend it to anyone!
Foodie Sam
VERY AUTHENTIC, the pork was very crispy , chicken was beautifully bbq but didn't really like the sauce which seem to over power the dish so it was better off just eating it without the sauce and the pineapple fried rice was so good, full of taste and flavour. The dessert with the sweet sticky rice and coconut ice cream was the best thing to top the night off. <br/><br/>Food did take along time <br/>Would come back. <br/>Not to expensive but customer service and waitress should be more attentive/pay more attention .<br/><br/>Overall a good place
M.abdulrhman1994
The front waitress was rude and unwelcoming.<br/>took over 45mins for the drinks to come out and also the food...would never go back or recommend anyone👎🏾
The Tastebud
We regularly order Thai take away from the Kew/ hawthorn area. This time we ordered from Fat Boy Thai Kitchen as we thought we would share our love about. Sadly we were disappointed by what we ordered. We ordered peanut satay sticks- strange taste/ like they had been cooked a while ago; and the satay sauce was blah.<br/>The chicken green curry and the pad Thai with prawn - were both below average. The massamum curry has tough meat.<br/><br/>I was disappointed with our selection and won't be reordering.

"...HAPPY TO ORDER AGAIN ~ ANY DAY O' THE WEEK..."<br/><br/>Earlier in the week, I ordered Thai delivery from FAT BOY THAI KITCHEN, Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn.. <br/>We thoroughly enjoyed it, but, especially the Pad Thai - One of the best we've had...<br/>-Chicken Green Curry<br/>-Beef Red Curry<br/>-Stir-fried Peanut Satay Chicken with Veg<br/>-Beef Pad Thai<br/>-Large Coconut Rice x 2<br/>Plenty for four adults.. [we shared; had a nice big dinner plate each..]<br/>Curries were good and spicy.. [we ordered low to medium, be careful if you order maximum heat ..?]<br/>Coconut rice was fragrant..<br/>Food was freshly cooked and piping hot..<br/>Saucy dishes were well wrapped with cling film to avoid spillage.. <br/>Containers were well-packed..<br/>Delivery timing was spot on..<br/><br/>Cost: Just under $60 - Very affordable for the quantity and quality..<br/>PS. They offer free delivery.. <br/><br/>Will become one of our future faves....<br/><br/>Ordered in April 2016 for take-away dinner delivered.

We have given this restaurant three chances and they managed to mess something up each time:<br/>- first time they were over an hour delivering<br/>- second time had almost no meat in a chicken curry dish (and bland flavours)<br/>- third time they mucked up the order and wouldn't credit it back, offering to deliver in 20ish minutes (useless when the rest of your food will be cold).<br/>
FancyCake
Much needed Thai restaurant for this section of Glenferrie Road. Prices are reasonable for all the classics: curries, noodles, stir fries, and salads. The red curry was just spicy enough and the pad see ew was a generous serve with lots of vegetables throughout. We've had takeaway, which was great with delivery and arrived under the estimated time. We've also had food in the nice modern fit-out of the restaurant. Service is polite, and they were offering some summer drink specials. Will definitely be back when we are down the part of Hawthorn.
LittleMissPiggy
Great little place to a quick and cheap feed... Went with a few friends after the movies and couldn't really fault it. Got a table for 8 straight away, quiet vibe, good service although a tiny language barrier, and reasonably priced! The garlic and pepper soft shell crab was delicious although super heavy on the sauce and the calamari was also great... Wouldn't say no to going again :)
Rohan Bhalla
This has become our new go to Thai place. Everything on the menu is authentic and tastes yum... the lava salmon is delicious and takes the food to a whole different level...
Eat.Play.Shop.
We stumbled across Fat Boy Thai Kitchen one day when we went for ramen at Hakata Gensuke but they were undergoing renovations.  The kids thought the name was hilarious and so we gave this place a try, and so happy to report that it was actually a really nice meal without any hype. We started off with the fish cakes ($8.9).  Nothing fancy, but a tasty morsel of fish cake with a great sauce.

Really great Thai food. Worth the money spent there. Love the chicken spring rolls and our favourite is the basil chicken. Been here multiple times and look forward to many more good times
Hungry Hippo
I like the place. Like the modern Thai look of the restaurant and their menu. A couple of dollars more expensive than your usual Thai restaurant around Glenferrie but I wouldn't say their food is better than the rest. Interesting twists to the classics though. Wish there is no bone in my chicken noodle soup though. Was very tricky to eat.
Roni
My boyfriend and I visited Fat Boy last night and decided to go for a variety of the tapas options, including, calamari, coconut prawns, satay chicken and more. It was all very nice and tasty, and the service was lovely and prompt. Will definitely be coming back to try some curries and stir fries.
Qwerty
Pretty standard and nice Thai food. I love the $10 lunch deals which are all large serves. The pad Thai is very good.
Choc Pudding
I like the place, it has nice ambience and it was not noisy. The staff are very attentive (maybe because they have 2 waitresses and 1 at the checkout when the place is quite small). We ordered the stir fry which was pretty nice, and a jungle curry (because we had never heard such thing before) but I would say the jungle curry was a letdown. The sauce was runny and does not taste that nice. I should have ordered red curry instead. I might come back here.

What can I say.....I actually went to Fat Boy because I went past and it reminded me of the line in the Guy Ritchie movie "Drop the gun fatboy". So went there with my wife......was surprised.....looked around thought it was run by a fusion team...........I was so wrong....what started as curiosity....is now a two time favorite....Been there twice in 2 weeks...and that's only because I work way too much....The Pad thai....very nice....the BBQ Chicken..........I wont share with anyone......drop a touch of chilli (which i did) and I'm in heaven.....So about the owners....lovely, hospitable and really what restaurant owners should be passionate, creative and love what they do.....And I'll be back there again on my next day off. This place is great....Good value for money, warm environment, funky decor, great food and Thai people own and run it and cook......Cant go wrong, unless like me you cant get there enough.....because you are always at work.......Even my wife "who should a food critic' cant fault it....A must try place..........which will leave you wanting to Thai more.
