Neat, clean, cosy, however uncomfortable chairs. Char Kway Teow was good, could do with a little chilli.

Absolutely amazing!!! The food is delicious and very tasty. I been there few times with my friends, we all have great experiences there, the design of the restaurant are very classic and the space is quite large so that everyone can sit comfortably. It is well recommended to have a go.

Family trip to Melbourne, and this definately is one of the best restaurants in town. All items are fresh prepared and are above average in taste. Lots of choices and no dish remains empty for long and customer service is phenomenal. Overall an amazing experience. : )

We ordered from doordash. The pancakes for the duck were like cardboard! The worst I've ever had and the rice had a big bit of plastic in it in the middle! I definitely wouldn't try this place again.

The best choice near camberwell area. Good dinner here over the weekend. My favourite dish out of everything was the cold dish. These were delicious. The Shanghai pan fried mini bun had an amazing tasty and juicy. Yummy seafood pot. The staff were nice. I will come again.

Food was good and the waitress was very nice. The owner however was the least hospitable person I've ever come across. One meal was delayed and when we asked about it he very rudely commented that it was coming. A while later I asked if it was coming today or not as it had been a while and he lashed out at us! He said that if he wanted he could send it out tomorrow it was up to him. He went to the level of saying you can pay for your meal but we don't need you to come in again. He even asked if we wanted to fight him! What a joke. Shame the owner had to completely ruin the experience given that we were the only customers even dining in that night.

I have been to this restaurant last Friday. I have passed this restaurant several times but it is my first time to walk in with my friends. The restaurant is very very bright and also neat and tidy. We like chinese food. I have tried to order lots of special food which is really hard to cook at home. The taste of the food is amazing. I have ordered chief special fried chicken, stir fried beef in blackbean sauce and fried dumpling....soooo good.

I would highly recommend this Chinese Restaurant to anyone. I took my Age Care residents for lunch here today and the manager was very welcoming. Disabled Friendly The food was delicious and we will be coming back again. Prices were great

I have been to a lot of Chinese restaurants and nothing compares with this restaurant for Food, price and last and most important service. Max is the host and he knows how to look after people. This restaurant is a hidden treasure.

Uber order trying to support local . Rang to complain re no receipt as requested and noted 1 tiny prawn in Kway teow. No asparagus in asparagus prawn. Response “ so what do you want me to do about it ? “Then hung up. Don’t bother..rude expensive and tasteless

Terrible experience I have ever had, will never ever go there in my life!
I bought the Groupon voucher, wanted to try this restaurant with my husband, took my baby there, and they said they would charge $15 for my baby. I mean he is baby, not going to eat any of their food. But they said doesn't matter, they still provide the space for the baby to sit, then they charge. What a rediculous reason.
Don't go there!

Horrible and frightening experience on 21 Sept 2018
We went for lunch and we were given a lunch time menu,
I was feeling sick so I only asked for wonton soup.
I had an acid cider vinegar drink which was almost empty which I sipped and placed in the table.
There was no signage to inform me that I cannot drink from my own water bottle and ask the wait staff did not tell me that I can’t drjnk from my water bottle as I will be charged $2.50 for that.
I refused as there was no signs he and the wait staff did not inform me even when they knew that I have my water bottle on the table.
Eventually the owner came rushing down and stood behind the cashier desk and threatened to hit me with a glass bottle.
I was terrified and I left
He then shouted vulgarities at me.
I will report this to the Consumers affairs today

As a Chinese, the service and the food quality is ridiculously unacceptable. We ordered food via Uber eat and when we first had a bite, first feeling was extremely salty and “what the difference” that we have ordered though we explicitly ordered different dishes. People always said feedback is valuable and welcomed for if you’re genuinely seeking for improvement and we hold this belief and give them a buzz. Unfortunately, it seems like not they sound like a loser to me not accepting positive feedback in return with terrible attitude. Good luck with your goodwill ;)

I ate here last week and the food tastes good. But the owner is too arrogant and rude. I feel bad! Look at the person's attitude towards UberEats delivery staff is also very bad. I think this kind of person is not suitable for the service industry.

it's extremely hard to get booking through, the staff was mentioned the last booking they can take is 7:30PM via the group voucher, is that mentioned on the purchase condition?

Came here on a Groupon voucher. The initial reception was not amazing as the male waiter remarked I was half an hour late for my booking (I was 20) and tutted at me even though the restaurant was empty. Food is so so. Not crispy, not flavourful. No risks, bland. Didn’t offer ya Chinese tea which I find rude in a Chinese restaurant. Female staff was nice enough. Wouldn’t come back again

Went to try this place the other night since I passed it by often but never got to try it. Contrary to what other people had said earlier about their service/ hospitality; we were greeted by a friendly gentleman right away and throughout the night he was quite attentive (even at times, i wished we were given a little more privacy). But at least, he was attentive. To me, it's better than cold or rude service often expected from similar restaurants.
We ordered their C-18 special spicy fried chicken and a seafood combination hotpot (claypot equivalent). And steam rice. The chicken was very lightly coated in flour and we could taste it had been marinated with chinese cooking wine and garlic prior to the deep frying. Slightly crunchy on the outside and reasonably tender inside. A tad on the salty side for my liking for eating it on its own, but if you had it with steamed rice like we did, it's not as overwhelmingly salty. Spicy? Not that much. Upper mild to lower medium level of spicy-ness for my liking. Overall flavour is quite decent. We did noticed the fermented salted black beans are there, so perhaps that was adding to the extra saltiness. It is kind of chilli chicken you get from a lot of Sichuan restaurants here, except it is not as spicy not as oily.
The seafood hotpot had decent serving of chunky prawns, calamari pieces and scallops. I would have liked it to have more gravy in it and more flavour. Overall nice ambient for a chinese restaurant. They gave us a complimentary platter of fruits at the end which was a nice gesture considering we did not come in big group.

Good old Aussie Chinese food. Served with a bit of cheek in a nice clean restaurant. We had the chicken and corn soup, the chicken San choi bo and I had the beef and black bean as a main. All were delicious.

A nice clean place with attentive but some what oddly uncooperative service. The food was good - the roast duck was deep fried and the gai lan was nicely seasoned. unfortunately 1 of 4 dishes was not what we ordered. The tea was quite weak and we were told that's how people usually want it. I've been drinking fermented po-lay tea for more than 20 years and I've never been served it with almost no colour or flavour before! And to top it off we were overcharged.

I used UberEats. The restaurant sent me the wrong soup and charged me for dumplings they didn't have. The calamari is disgustingly oily!!! Don't order nit..and tasteless. When I called the restaurant to say they'd sent me the wrong soup, the man was very rude and arrogant. I asked to speak to the manager. He said that no-one was there. When I was trying to talk about the problem with the order, he kept talking over me.....then hung up. He then turned the phone off as it is a mobile nbr they use, not the number advertised.I will call and complain tonight when they open again at 5pm. I only called at 2.30pm...They are open until 3. I have had their food twice before and it was fabulous. Today, disgusting. I don't recommend it, especially after the rudeness of the man. In face I'd give it a 0 rating!

Great restaurant with friendly staff and service. The staff are always very accomodating to my girlfriend and my needs. The food is well cooked both eat in and takeaway. Some dishes I would highly recommend include all the dumplings and the BBQ pork cashew nuts. The restaurant is very clean and atmosphere is both relaxing and enjoyable.

Really good, quality food and friendly service. Salt and pepper squid was perfectly crunchy with just enough seasoning, not too salty 👌🏼 Japanese beancurd/seafood dish was my favourite - sauce was really tasty. Definitely making this place our regular go to

Update: WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. NEVER GOING BACK despite living around the corner. See Google review. https://goo.gl/maps/6rAzqNzpBGN2 or Deliveroo review. I see many similar complaints including those to Consumer Affairs! Hah! Management obviously needs to pay attention to feedback.

Previous review:
This is a great place conveniently around the corner from my house. Great food. Great service. The vibe is a little soul-less though and makes the place feel cheaper than what it actually is. As stated by others, making a few little changes could make a massive difference. I'll still go back, but I'd go back more often if the vibe was improved

Good food, pleasant service, decent prices. Menu has a fairly broad selection. Probably the only thing I would improve upon if I were the owner would be the ambience and interior setup. Has a very cheap feel; small tacky tables and cheap cutlery. This could be a higher class establishment with little effort, and considering the demographic in this area, it would probably improve the appeal of the venue, markedly.

I'm not sure why there are so many good reviews about this restaurant. I came on friday night, the owner did not welcome me at all. He looked annoyed to be honest and he said YES? when he saw me. I think that wasn't very welcoming. No water was offered to me until the end of my meal. Other tables got complimentary crackers but I didnt get any. Maybe because he knew I wasn't gonna order a lot. The meal was super salty and oily (I ordered the fried chicken ribs) and it is quite pricey too. I can get the same dish with better taste and price at other places not far from this restaurant (Viet Star on glenferry road for example). Not recommended unless you don't know how to cook chinese food at all and have no other option.

Have walked past this restaurant a few times, finally decided to give it a go and was pleasantly surprised with how great the food was! Food was fast to come out and the service was excellent. Ordered the sweet and sour pork with rice and the black bean beef fried noodle. Quite easily the best sweet and sour pork I've had in a long time. Crisp batter and fresh tender pork inside. The black bean beef fried noodle was amazing. Tender beef with super fresh veggies in the meal. For $24.50 for two main meals, you certainly cannot go wrong. I will be coming back to C18 for my regular fix of Chinese. If you're in Hawthorn/Camberwell this place is definitely worth checking out. You won't be disappointed!

Great food and great service. Would definitely recommend! The spring rolls were amazing. They were really crispy and the beef fillet with pepper sauce for main was fantastic!

The atmosphere would be better with dimmer lighting, the general decor is good though. The shanghai crispy duck is pretty good, crispy and tender. And would try out the crispy duck on pancake next time. The food presentation is decent and attentive services! Also the after meal fruits.

Yet to give the take-away option a go, however my dine-in experience was fantastic. Friendly, helpful and attentive staff and great food. Definitely worth a visit!

Lunch time favourite, fast & tasty food, always friendly and excellent service. Highly recommended if you want some good Chinese food in the area!
Mark
Great new Chinese restaurant. Could not fault the food or staff, very attentive service. I will say that there is a decent discrepancy between takeaway and dine in prices. Highly recommended

Our family went to C18 for dinner - it was absolutely amazing! The food was delicious, the restaurant design and atmosphere is lovely - most importantly the staff were very attentive and professional. Max and Kary looked after us all very, very well.

We will definitely be back - this is our new Chinese local!
Thank you

Very friendly service and tasty food, my children and I enjoyed our Tom Yum soup, dumplings and vegetarian fried rice, we will definitely return.

Ordered 5 dim sums for take away and had to wait for 30mins. There was no other customer when I ordered. After I have ordered, 2 customers have arrived and they got their food before I did. After the long wait, I was expecting some decent food but unfortunately the chicken feet was off. Not happy and not returning.

Wow great little find as a new restaurant in hawthorn. Great bowl of noodles for your $11, very fresh and tasty with quick service. I ordered the seafood laksa which was full of veggies and seafood and was light and tasty unlike normal laksa. Really pleasantly surprised.

Very friendly service, lovely hosts.
Food was pleasant without being exceptional.
Satay was a little sour, Szechuan beef was nice. Nice touch of complimentary fruit at the end.
Nice decor though a little bright.
In an area blessed with a number of great Asian options such as Hoi's, Choi's and Purple Sands, this might struggle to make its mark.

we have been this restaurant for couple times at before. the tasty food and fabulous service give me very deep impressive.
two weeks ago, I tried book a large table for family dinner (11 people) and the restaurant manager asked me" what food do you like?" i joked to him " we want to try some food are not on your menu." but to my surprise, they accepted that!!!
So, we had eat tasty crab and perfect oyster as "special order" in our family dinner.

Tips: the restaurant only accept " special order for more that eight people on booking

I went with my wife to try out this Chinese Restaurant with some trepidation as there is not much of sign outside and the decor is very modern and is not that of a typical Chinese restaurant. We were both very happy with the food and service. We will certainly return with our friends and family. Both Tony and max were very friendly and attentive. The good thins are that there are two serving sizes to choose - regular and large. For two people, regular size is more than enough. We could taste three different dishes- Steamed wild barramundi ; Cantonese style Steak and XO sauce in Vermicelli and prawn. They were all very Cantonese style. Max told us that The chefs are both from HK. We will definitely return for dinner and will try the yum cha as well.

We dined on a Saturday night as part of a large group (2 tables). The food was really delicious and priced reasonably. The steamed flounder was very tasty, as was the calamari and the Peking duck pancakes were exceptional.
Friendly and attentive service. I'd like to return and try some other dishes, I was too full to eat another thing!

Saw this newly opened Chinese restaurant last week. went there with my family and friends. Highly recommended. very traditional and delicious food. Peking duck is a must try. Steam flounder is the best I have ever had in Melbourne. Special fry rice and all dumplings are much better than other normal yum cha restaurant.
The place is nice and looks modem. We went there as a group of 10 and with a few kids, plenty space and perfect for family diner. Staffs are so friendly and helpful. will definitely come back.

Happy to find a place that sells authentic chinese food and nears home! Noodles were very generous portions and very delicious! Will be back to try other dishes next time.

I am not proud to write this review.....as I am the first to do so.

Have been waiting for this restaurant to open as it happens to be in my surrounds. However - the food I tasted tonight was mediocre to say the least. And I am being generous here......

The other things to look out for :
Huge price differential between take-out and dining in.

Tried it once and will not return.......sorry.
