Review Bar Ristretto - Hawthorn

An old favourite when in the area. Always a cool and relaxed vibe with very friendly service. Not a huge menu yet they always have something that works - wraps, focaccia, soup or my favourite Mexican Chilli. Great coffee tops it off.

The best Mexican beef ever. Totally awesome. Highly recommend for wholesome fresh affordable food. Lots of competition nearby but this place never fails to disappoint. Consistently good coffee too.

Just the best coffee, perfectly made, served with attention, care and love by Andy and Lisa. Even delivered to your car with a smile if you can only manage a drive by :) So happy to have found this local gem!

First time here. Good coffee. Old framed menus etc on walls are very interesting. I saw a soup served. Looks amazing. The place has character. Robert.

Absolutely the best coffee in town! Andy and the team is terrific and it is a lovely place for a quick bite too.

The coffee here is okay, healthy menu options and daily specials with a comfort food feel.
3.7

Pleasant little cafe. Understated decor. Lovely chillout mix playing. You’d peg this as a great place for locals as earlier reviews suggest.

My long black was good and also reasonably priced. Service was cool
and efficient. The attention paid to various locals was noticeably impressive.

Worth a visit if you’re in the area.

When it comes to banana bread cravings but there’s not many places offering this in the area so I gotta try this out. The slice of homemade banana bread was a disappointment as it was really thin for the cost of $4.50, dry, and literally breakable. Not sure about other options.

Great chicken and split pea soup with rice. Will come back again to try the coffee. Service is warm and professional, very quick too! Fast and simple for a quick lunch.

Communal table got me ....

Always best to leave vintage elements alone, that's what this place seems to present itself.

Soylatte, Short black and a couple sweets kept me there longer.

Have been disappointed recently with the level of service, however, after previously being disappointed with the service, was pleasantly surprised by the service of a bright young female waitress today. She was friendly and smiling and really added to the ambience of the place. The coffee is OK but the food is a bit of a let down. Despite the service and ambience that I loved today, the salad I had lacked flavour and my coffee was lukewarm. It is local and convenient but probably wouldn't revisit if there were more plentiful alternatives in the surrounding area.

Andy is king of the block. Andy is great ... always talks to you. His food is made on site, fresh and very nice. Best coffee in the area! Must go to place for lunch Monday - Friday.

Nowhere better. I created an Urban Spoon account solely to comment on this piece of paradise in Hawthorn West.

It is very rare to encounter the trifecta of exceptional service, scrumptious food and a perfect atmosphere, but this place has it in spades.

From my first visit, I was treated as a regular, whose names and orders the manager knows by heart.

I can never resist their delicious pumpkin and feta frittata, complimented by a diverse range of fresh salads. Please don't get me started on the sweets! Heaven on a finely decorated plate.

There is always a groovy tune playing, encouraging diners to linger over their expertly-made coffee while admiring the Italian-inspired artwork before reluctantly dragging themselves back to work...

A truly blissful experience for anyone looking for solace and genuine service.

Fair Dinkum. Would only come back to Oz for Bar Ristretto's muffins. Do you deliver to the UK?

Great coffee. Good service. Extremely popular. Hard to get a seat at lunchtime but worth the push and shove. Homemade cakes are delicious. Consistency with quality is the key ingredient here. Apart from Tapa down the road, leaves the others in the area for dead.
