Friendly and attentive staff, amazing service, and fantastic steak cooked up by the kitchen. The team were chill and happy to help and explain the dishes and confident in their recommendations. Thanks Charlie, Marianna and the chefs for making steak night an amazing time!! Definitely make this a treat for yourself.

Decided to try Butcher and Vine since I've never really seen Wet Aged beef before. I love the variety of the steaks and how they break it down for you on the menu. The taste though, was quite ordinary. Don't get me wrong, it still was delicious but it wasn't mind blowing. Some entre the cured salmon lacked flavour and didn't taste like much. We much preferred the beef carpaccio but it was veryyy thin - we were picking off the plate like toddlers trying to eat it. Service was ok, on the slower side even though there were about 5 people working. We ordered wine and it sat on the bar bench for a solid 10 minutes before reaching our table. The waiters would walk past and not acknowledge it. It's one of those places that you try once and that's it.

I saved up all day just so I could fit in three courses, because of course, I'd looked online ahead of time and already chose what I was going to eat, and I left here feeling really content. When you first walk in, you're greeted by a glass cabinet of prettily presented meat. Looks like a very upscale butcher. We were then promptly seated right near a kitchen area, that was kind of unappetising to look into while eating, but the food made up for it. I ordered the salmon, the cheeseburger and the brownie and two out of three were good. The salmon was absolutely out of this world. It was really delicious and I couldn't eat it fast enough. It's a shame that the creme fraiche that it came with, was hardly visible. It would have been really nice to have more to go with it, but what do I know. Then came the cheeseburger, which I must say was really nice. For my taste, it had a little too much relish in it, so next time I visit there (though I'd try their Hampton location) I would ask for either very little, or just a bit on the side. You have to order any other item separately, so even if you're ordering a $50 steak, you need to pay extra for chips or vegetables (which I think is quite rich). Then the only real disappointment of the night was their brownie. It was supposedly rum flavoured, but there was no rum whatsoever that any of us could taste. Not only that, but it was shockingly presented, and looked like it was just plopped onto the plate and broken off in a chunk. Not only that, but I practically needed my steak knife back just to cut into it. Other than the disappointing dessert, and a bit of staff confusion from time to time, the meal was great overall. Things were cooked perfectly and the food was really tasty. When all is said and done, the pricing is ok for what you get and there's a little something for everyone on the menu. Again, I think I'd try their Hampton location next time, but if I was in Hawthorn again, I'd stop by if hungry enough.

One the best steak I ever had. The tomahak steak was coocked to perfection exactly as what we ordered. Extremly juicy and yummy, i like the smokyness taste from the grill, the charcoal crust is azaming. The portion of the steak is enough for 4 easliy. Mehdi the owner of the resturant is a very nice guy and hospitable, he knows everything about the steak and his recommandations are amazing. His customer service is next level and he is always making sure that his food reached out to level of your statisfacotry and his standards. This is something that i really enjoy when i see the owner of the resturant really cares about their customers. Highly recomanded, will def go back Thanks Mehdi!

Second time coming here, main reason being for the steak. The first time we were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the steak (better than some other dedicated steakhouses). This time it was overall a very similar experience, though we noticed the smaller portions (realised afterwards that the galloway scotch went from 350g to 220g since last year but remained the same price). All in all one of the better places in Melbourne specifically for steak! Beef carpaccio 7/10 Galloway scotch 8.5/10 Shorthorn scotch 8/10 Sauces: chimmichurri 7.5/10, peppercorn & brandy 8/10 Rustic fries 6.5/10 Cumin carrots 6/10

Been hunting for a good steak for a while. This place is worth the drive. Absolutely epic. Very very good service. Highly recommended

I’ve eaten here three times in as many months and I have to say I have had an amazing experience each time. Feel so fortunate to have found this restaurant recently when on the hunt for a perfect steak, and now no going back. Everything is cooked to perfection and the service is incredible. I have told others to try here who are now also hooked. You will not be disappointed. They are the best in the biz!
