Review Kimchi Lunchbox - Hawthorn

Korean food - tasty. You have to order at the counter instead of table service. Good variety of dishes. Happy they serve Sam Gye Tang (Herbal soup) here. Good entry way accessible for wheelchairs. Sucks that they have a 2% surcharge for card payments. First Korean place we’ve been to that charges for side dishes - most places are free with refills.

Bewon is a good place to have a quick lunch during the lunch break. Not only the food is good, but no doubt it tastes good too. I used to order the lunch boxes, but I have been ordering various options from the Bimbimbap to the spicy soups. With the Bimbimbap, I always ask for a special order, do not use a hot stone, just put all the ingredients in a big bowl instead. I like a warm Bimbimbap, not a flaming hot one. The JamBong noodle soup is awesome too. Try coming early, you don't want to end up having no seats during the lunch rush.

Casual place for tasty and affordable Korean food. You order pay at the counter and all the food appears about 5min later (so fast!). We were a group of 5 and the favorite dish would have to be the fried chicken kkanpunggi which was KFC in a sticky sweet sauce with vegies. The potato korokke was also especially good. We also had jap chae, tofu bibimbap, Kim chi, spicy octopus and 2 steamed rice. Service was friendly the whole evening - seems the staff are all genuinely friendly and happy. We had a great night. Tons of food for 5 people with three of us drinking BYO wine and it was only $20 a head with food left over to take away. A new local favorite for Korean food!

Heaps of delicious options across the menu and all of them at affordable student prices, along with nice friendly staff that acknowledge you upon entering and exiting, this makes for one of the best places to eat for lunch along Glenferrie road!

It is truly an end of an era. My favourite restaurant of all time has officially closed down with little to no warning. I am shocked... I remember going to primary school at Glenferrie around 17 years ago and eating at this place with my parents. I remember eating here weekly ever since 2016. This is my go to restaurant because prices are good, service is great, staff is super friendly and I just can’t get enough of their food. I could eat their food for the rest of my life and never get sick of it. Apparently they are moving to Adelaide, which is a shame. It would be great if they could open multiple restaurants all over so they didn’t have to close down but unfortunately this is not the case, maybe because they are a family business. Well... good things always come to an end.
