What’s not to love about fresh hot Hong Kong waffles, made as you wait.
Definitely worth a drop in if you’re in the area for a little treat.
We stopped by here for some dessert after having dinner at a restaurant nearby. Given, that it wasn’t busy (around 9.20pm, 40 minutes before closing time), we found the atmosphere to be quite comfortable. But I can imagine how tight the space would be during the day or when there is more than 10 people inside. This store is better suited for ordering and eating outside because it seriously is small - fits about 8 stools. The most dominant colour is yellow - from the walls to most of the interior decor and furniture. You can’t help but feel happy inside! Staff are welcoming and friendly. The hot chocolate is tasty (pretty much standard) and it was nice to see a range of egg waffles on the menu. We had the “Unicorn” egg waffle (with matcha soft-serve). It was a nice dessert to share between two people.
Visited Picapika Waffles stall at Glenferrie Festival. Good egg waffle, very insta-worthy presentation, but the matcha soft serve is not of good quality.
I stumbled upon this place on Zomato as i was searching for desserts in Hawthorn. Little did i know, this little quaint cafe was Japanese so everything about it was so cute! From the yellow themed interior to the way their desserts are presented, I'm surely returning to try other things on their menu, and recommending to all my friends. The staff are very friendly, attentive and put a lot of effort into making their dessert and drinks. I couldn't be more impressed. My friend and i shared the matcha egg waffles, which was amazing! We were worried that it would be messy to eat but it was the total opposite. The waffle circles easily broke off making it even easier to share. The matcha ice cream was perfect - not too sweet, not too bitter! The Oreo, Pokka sticks and the red beans were also a good combo. I don't think i would have finished this on my own so this is a good dessert to share. I also had a matcha latte to takeaway and oh my! it was heaven. Some places either lack the matcha essence or it can be too overpowering but the matcha latte here was perfect. Don't be fooled by the tiny size of this place; you will experience a little taste of what Japan has to offer.
Cosy dessert place! Really good waffles and HK style waffles too. Can pick and choose the flavour of the waffle plus the ice cream or soft serve! Friendly staff as well.
Scrumptious egg waffles 😍
I had the matcha variety, which was nice. The egg waffle was crisp on the outside and pillowy inside, while the ice cream had a slightly bitter, not too sweet taste.
These waffles are a bit pricy at $8.80 but hey, they’re delicious so all is well. Shall return (hopefully v soon)
Cute little dessert cafe!
I've been here a few times already (photos are combined from the multiple times I've went), and I enjoy their desserts everytime I come here! Their egg waffles are cooked the way I like them and the matcha icecream has an authentic matcha taste.
The matcha espresso was interesting- a matcha drink base infused with coffee, I could taste both flavours but I think I'd prefer drinking either just matcha or just coffee.
The taiyaki (fish shaped waffle) is so cute! The waffle is also cooked well, a little crispy on the outside and it is also lined with red bean paste inside after you finish the soft serve icecream insider the fish!
A tad pricey though, but treat yoself sometimes!
Unicorn desserts have been invading social media, left, right and centre. Every time I click the location link to see where I can get my hands one these “unicones” , they always show up with American cities or somewhere in South East Asia, never Australia. Until recently PicaPika Waffles, who specialise in Hong Kong egg waffles, decided to make a Unicorn version of a Japanese dessert, Taiyaki.
Tried this super cute egg waffle yesterday, the place is really convenient just outside the station. There's not many seats so it is more of a take away type. We had two taiyakis with bubble gum and green tea soft serve. The soft serves were a bit icy, i prefer the bubble gum. The egg waffle was quite good, crispy and eggy. we chose green tea ice cream too and it was okay. Next time I'd def get vanilla so that it is creamier. Service was really good, the staffs were really friendly and patient with us.
I have only ordered waffles from here through Uber Eats, so I am not sure about how the store looks like etc. The waffles here are yummy :) I might go to the store to try sometime in the future.
Craving yummy matcha dessert? Picapika in Hawthorn serves delicious matcha soft serve in a fish waffle cone! The matcha soft serve was full of matcha flavour and was truly on point! This was neatly placed in a fish waffle cone which was deliciously crunchy and tasted exactly like a waffle! We also tried a hot matcha sesame drink which was very interesting - it had flavours of seaweed, it may not be everyone's cup of tea. The atmosphere is cute, yellow and reminds you of a small dessert bar in Japan. Recommend it!
Japanese style waffles and drinks in this little store in Hawthorn. The waffles are quite nice and works in the environment full of students. Not many seats so don't expect to stay there long
Really nice service. Got the matcha waffles and it wasn't too sweet, matcha icecream and some biscuits(pocky and oreos) without overdoing anything . :)!

My favourite store in Melbourne! The store owner is soooo nice!! Gorgeous colour designs inside. Waffle and coffee are both very tasty! Japanese musics are beautiful as well!
Just happened to be in the area while searching up places to buy egg waffles. What are the chances hey? Ordered the matcha one and it was so delicious! Lovers of egg waffle you won't be disappointed. Fantastic customer service too, the staff were so friendly. I'll be back to try the other flavours soon!
Picapika is so far the best Egg Waffle place that I've had in Melbourne.
For the past few years I've always been searching for a place like Picapika.
Their Matcha Egg waffles are so irresistible❣️
Their New product Matcha black sesame is also definitely worth a try.
Picapika also have a wide variety of mini waffle choices that you can choose from.
Picapika is highly recommended everyone should come here you won't regret 😊
The owner of Picapika is very friendly as well 😊
Yum! A small place that does egg waffles, and they do it well. It is expensive but ice cream was nice (i had black sesame) and they give nice toppings that go well with ice cream. Waffles were nice and fluffy.
Definitely a 5! The matcha fish waffle are so crispy & tender, the matcha green tea ice cream is not bitter at all, I love it & super creamy . We also had a sesame waffle which is sooooo yum , highly recommended, we will definitely come back 😍
Great waffles and great customer service, staff are very friendly. I look forward to returning and trying something new off the menu !

Went here for the first time tonight with three friends. We loved what we ordered and everything tasted extremely delicious! I had an amazing cookies and cream waffle and hot chocolate, which honestly is the best I've had!! We will most definitely be returning due to the yummy food and great customer service, well recommended!
The egg waffles are amazing! The taiyaki is also good, but I prefer the crispness that comes with the fresh egg waffles :) Their matcha ice cream is strong but not bitter, and the customer service is top notch!
Super cute desserts and owners! Very lovely and accommodating. Ordered the black sesame egg waffles and the black sesame ice cream is something very different especially if you do not regularly eat anything black sesame. Very fragrant and you KNOW it's black sesame which I really liked! Love to try their other items next time! :)
I was craving waffles after looking back through my japan pics. Couldn't wait to eat here! The fish waffle was a 20 min wait so I didn't get that. We got the matcha and choc waffles instead. They were so good to look at and the ice cream delicious. I was a little disappointed that the waffles were not really criSpy and the wait so Long buuut I know we will be back to give it another go! Thank you picapika! Keep going!
Picapika never fails to surprise, and this visit was no exception. That enticing Fish Waffle was one of the most innovative and tasty Asian desserts we have ever sampled, and will remain in our memories for a long time to come!
Zomato this is a great new place.
They deliver better than anything in the area ( I had home delivery) and it was a good idea.. not soggy like donuts and not sickly sweet.
ON the order for us:
-4 pack of premium waffles (2x of one caramel and popcorn option; 2x of one caramel and crunchie-bar option)
Such a good idea. I did prefer the crunchie offer to the the popcorn waffle. Would be excited to check out more of the menu at a time when it's more present on their site. By this late hour they had mostly sold out. Get in early and I don't think you will regret it. Maybe a good midday treat to be UberEats'ed to your office

Opened in September last year, sponsored by TaraMilkTea & the likes Picapika (Pikachu!) Waffles are an instagram sensation! And it tastes as good as it looks too! Located in the next town over we're stopped by when in town for a meeting. Located next to Kenny's around the corner from McD in Glenferrie it was easy to find.
Been to this shop a couple of times. I had pistachio waffle and matcha ice cream the first time. Then last time I had taiyaki with vanila ice cream. I was so pleasantly surprised by the red beans as in they are not the powdery paste. Enjoyed the two visits so much and I definitely will go back.
Very good waffle, soft but crunchy outside. Green tea ice cream is also yummy! Friends ordered iced green tea latte which is also nice. Only one thing is the shop is not easy to find.
This small delightful dessert shop really has a lot to offer to satisfy your sweet tooth!
From flavoured waffles to iced drinks.
Today, I tried an egg waffle (eggette) with matcha icecream, topped with chocolate sauce, two Pocky sticks and an Oreo!
All the flavours and textures accompanied each other very well!!
Price was on the expensive side at $8.80, but really worth a try!
Fairly new dessert place in hawthorn. I love dessert 🍨 so I had to try this place. Pleasantly looking serves, it was good but didn't sweep me off my feet. Maybe my expectation was set too high from the Pokemon go hype 😅 Definitely worth to try though 😊
Picapika is a small cafe serving Japanese-influenced waffles and specialty coffee in a side street in Hawthorn. All waffles are freshly hand-made on site daily, with ingredients sourced from Japan, Belgium and Australia. . The brightly vibrant yellow-and-white colours inside this takeaway venue is consistent with the fun combinations of ingredients featured throughout their boutique dessert menu. Co-owned by Jonathon and his wife, their travels around the world inspired them to open Picapika, bringing the popular Hong Kong egg waffle to Melbourne. Their Malaysian and Taiwanese backgrounds, combined with their experiences traveling around Asia, results in an Asian-inspired theme within Picapika, complimented by Pokemon figurines lining the shelved walls.
PicaPika, is a reference to the phrase of the popular electric mouse Pokemon, Pikachu. The owner, Jonathan, is passionate about Japan and it reflects not only in the name, but also the decor with Japanese versions of Pokemon manga and figurines still in their original packaging displayed behind the counter.
Pika pika!!! *Cue the sfx* That's probably what Pikachu might exclaim after devouring the delicious sweet treats at this cute little joint. The egg waffles are deliciously yum yum!!! Delectable crispy balls of dough but soft & perfectly cooked inside. Having it plain with their coffee just made it for me. Waffles are freshly made every day, & apparently they are also available to order for house-warming, tea party, or any other special events. Can't wait to go there again & indulge myself (& my troops) with the amazeballs that are picapika 😘
OMG, the prettiest egg waffle ice cream in town. I love the aesthetic of Pica Pika Waffles. Comes in three yummy flavours to choose from. Gorgeous designs, they're eye candy.
Be prepared to wait for a bit for your egg waffles to be ready. Bur it's worth the wait

went to picapika to try out some of their desserts items , and it did not disappoint , this little shop is tucked in a back street nearby glen ferry road in hawthorn … how to resist a gooey warm waffle paired with a creamy ice-cream, made to order 😍. flavours of ice cream includes , Matcha , black sesame , yuzzu , vanilla etc… some flavours available as soft serve , i tried them all and loved each of them , egg waffles with ice cream , Taiyaki fish cones with soft serve , or Liege waffle , matcha or chocolate frappe , you’ll surely find what your looking for there …
It's location is the problem...not very easy to find it. But waffle is nice! We had matcha ice cream and chocolate one. Matcha flavour is so strong so great! You can taste the real matcha powder inside! The boss is nice as well.
A tiny store in Camberwell, next to seafeway. Great customer service. I had the green tea waffle, the waffle was nice to eat, however the green tea ice cream lacked a little bits of flavour, but the texture of the ice cream was spot on 👍
Absolutely delicious! Love this Japanese take on waffles. We got the green tea egg waffle. Not only is it a work of art but tastes delicious too! Love the combination of traditional japanese flavors with modern flavors too!
A lovely Japanese dessert bar sold various waffles. Had the matcha egg waffle. Waffle itself was warm and soft, with two pokey sticks and a mini Oreo. But the matcha ice-cream was a little bit flavorless, perhaps because the matcha flavor was not as stronger as the chocolate dipping.
Recently opened Japanese dessert store speciality in all sorts of waffles as well as egg waffles. Now they added new waffle bowls on their menu. Everytime I walk pass this lovely bright place, the tempting good smell just make me wanna go inside and check this place out. Eventually, I did!
Picapika was small, only can seat 8pp. But the staff were so welcome and friendly. Looking through the glass counter, there were waffles of different flavors such as matcha, Nutella, pistachio rose, cookie&cream etc. I had my favorite Nutella one and the waffle was harder than I thought. Dense, eggy, sweet and little chewy...personally I prefer softer and crunchy one. But still, I like it.
This time I tried the matcha egg waffle with matcha latte. Yeah, I just love matcha! The regular Latte was big, and there were nice matcha powder on top. Remember to give a stir before drink it, so the matcha powder that sink down the bottom can infused with the milk better, therefore you can actually taste the bitter but nice matcha flavor.
Go back to the egg waffle, it was put inside a cup with one scoop of matcha ice cream, one Oreos cookie, two pieces of almond pocky stick and some red bean sprinkles. It was huge! The egg waffle was made fresh and better ate when it was still warm. Due to the matcha tea powder, the inside of the egg waffle was greenish, springy with soft and chewy texture. Also it was not too sweet, but could make you full easily! The ice cream was good, full of matcha flavor~
Looking forward to trying new things that Picapika offers in the future. It is growing and getting better~ now, I can always have a nice cup of matcha latte whenever I want , this was such a nice thing......
Brought the team to picapika for a little bit of fun with waffles on our day off! Lady owner was great! Everything was super cute and the packaging was to die for! Haha Thanks for having us!
Picapika Waffles is a super cute little store hidden behind the McDonalds off Glenferrie Road. The bright yellow colour of the store makes you feel instantly happy & warm, and it is the only way we were able to spot the store so neatly tucked away from the busy street!
The couple serving were extremely friendly, gave genuine and kind customer service. When we arrived- late afternoon, most of the waffle flavours were sold out, but they were kind enough to make the waffles fresh and of whatever flavour we wanted! We tried the Pistachio&Rose Waffle flavour, it was beyond delicious. The glaze was warm, fresh and the waffle was soft and beautifully sweet, light and fluffy! Best Waffles we have had to date!
TIP: Do order Nutella Glaze or Pistachio & Rose Waffles- so delicious and fresh! Don't forget to try the famous Egg Waffles- Chocolate is our go to flavour, obviously. 🍫
Located in a little corner just behind Macca's, you would think it's easy to miss. The bright lights and yellow background proved it wrong.
I was greeted by Lumi, the owner of this little waffle shop. She was very friendly and cheerful! Love her! She explained the menus in a very detailed fashion.
I ordered the Matcha egg waffles, the best seller.
It didn't disappoint at all! You can really taste the matcha, unlike some shops I know that added too much sugar on their soft serve.
Overall, very satisfactory!
Will come back to reward myself after exams! :D
(English Reviews Below)
Bonito waffle was pretty good even it was cold.
Egg waffle was way too bouncy and lack of the airy and crispy texture (which is very important). Maybe I'm too harsh on it because I grown up eating too many amazing egg waffles and having high standard. It’s not fair I’m sorry.
Matcha Latte was satisfying.
The address was really hard to find, locate mcdonalds first will help.
A tiny tiny shop with seating for less than 10, the only thing that helps you locate them is the bright yellow walls and the super loud and chirpy greeting from the ladies behind the counter. Specialising in sweet and savoury waffles and also egg waffles, it's definitely more of a takeaway joint. The Bonito Flakes waffles and Honey Comb Caramel waffles were spot on - crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and very generous with the toppings. If you have a preference for cakey waffles, like my partner, you will love it. Now for the star attraction and the whole point of my visit - the egg waffle. After trying the egg waffle, I came to the conclusion that my quest for authentic egg waffles shall continue on. Overall, it was an excellent egg cake (雞蛋糕) with deliciously creamy matcha ice cream, but texture-wise, it was not an egg waffle. Missing the light and airy texture that I have been craving for so bad. However our regular latte and matcha latte exceeded our expectations, particularly the matcha latte which was very balanced in flavour and sweetness. Service is still all over the place but I trust that it's merely teething issues.
