Review Caffe On Uni - Hawthorn

It's like stepping into a small town cafe. The interior hasn't been renovated in a long time. The vinyl on the benches is falling apart and place is just generally in need of a good rub down and a paint job. The service was fine, and the food came quickly. My long black was appropriate for small town cafe quality but when you have so many amazing cafe options in the area, it's a let down. The avo on sourdough with mushrooms, poached eggs and feta was also satisfactory. It was fine but nothing remarkable. Mostly of all, I felt like it wasn't smashed avo, it was an avo spread and there certainly wasn't much of it. For another few dollars you can go around the counter to Methodist and have your socks blown off with their avo on toast. It's worth the extra money. If you want a good homemade sandwich this might be the place to go (there were a few purchased while I was there), but I won't be going back.

The food was awesome, the mocha was a delight and friendly staff! What else can you ask for! And they open early too! Definitely would recommend!

Tasty, home style food, very generous portions! The young waitress was obviously very busy when I came in (breakfast rush) but still professional and friendly, and my food came out quickly. The breakfast special is very good value!

Resonable price and this lemon meringue cake was a bit sweet for me but except for that, everything was okay. Staffs are very friendly!

Wonderful café with friendly staff, and excellent service. I had a cappuccino with a ham and cheese croissant, and they were deliciously fresh! It felt like the milk, ham, and cheese just tasted better than what I'm normally used to. It was busy around lunch time, but it's to be expected on such a busy road, and with good prices!

The ladies here are nice enough to make up my lunch even though its not specifically on the menu. A chicken schnitzel on toasted turkish bread with lettuce and mayo. Ive been coming here 1 day per week for this whilst at university for the day. They also have excellent homemade sausage rolls. Very friendly staff, quick service and they have a great range of other freshly cooked items. A nice change from fast food here

Quite a good layout. Combination of booths and tables along the wall. Has a good variety of food. However, both times it seems like an untidy and slightly dirty place. Needs a good clean and maybe a refurb. Happy with service and quality of coffee though.

Ordered small lamb kebab combo that comes with a kebab, chips and can of drink. Small but yet not that small for a asian actually. Very filling lamb kebab that tasted surprisingly good, lots of lamb in it. Chips were very hot and potatoey. Love it actually.

Popular place to grab a quick coffee and bite before class. Pricing is cheap compared to a few of the other cafes in the vicinity. You really get what you pay for. The quality is merely average. Sometimes I have a sandwich and chai latte, most times just a chai or hot chocolate. Staff are friendly.

Just moved to Australia from US and curious about the restaurant at the school -- what a disappointment. Environment is dirty, the tables weren't clean at all. The music player is even having problem but the worker doesn't seem to care. <br/><br/>I ordered the lamb plate with salad and dip, along the pita -- i didn't dare to finish them. Poorly made,especially the salad tasted extremely plain. Lamb is alright, which is the only thing that i wouldn't complain much. <br/><br/>In conclusion, if you want to try this place out, AVOID IT! Save your money to buy a better meal. For me, lesson learned.
