Review Knead Bakers - Hawthorn

Nice cafè, the coffee is good! Great prices specially for the students from Swinburne university across the road. I would like to suggest to have one extra person to look after the floor a little bit better. Great selection of pies and panini to dine in or for take away. We had eggs Benedict with spinach, and the bread was fantastic but eggs overcooked! We loved the extra chilli on our eggs! Friendly owner.

Fabulous coffee, delicious chai, and all the food is superb. It's not a huge menu but absolutely wonderful. Beautiful friendly staff who genuinely care about the quality of their cafe. Always welcoming. Our go to...reliably awesome!

Awesome cafe! We are not great bread or pastry eaters, but there is something absolutely light and healthy and satisfying about this food...I think it actually is all hand-made there, but whatever it is, we love the place. It never fails. The coffee is perfect. Service caring. Excellent prices. Highly recommend.

This is the best cafe in the area for your daily coffee, chai or tea. The owner is a hard-working, beautiful person who welcomes everyone, is that lovely mixture of personal and professional. Her cooking is sublime. Great prices too. Highly recommend!

Glad to see gluten free options. We had a choc caramel brownie gf and a standard chocolate brownie gf. And a chunky meat pie not gf.

The Perfect Cafe. The coffee is wonderful, the food is divine. Fresh, baked on premises. The staff are lovely. Caring, friendly, professional and welcoming. Prices are very very reasonable. Truly a gem.

Went here today with my mum for a quick lunch stop. It was surprisingly empty inside. But it is so pretty inside. I got a berry juice and a sausage roll. I could tell the juice was fresh, which was nice and made the drink refreshing. The sausage roll was so warm and clearly homemade, which made it so much better. My mum got a spanakopita, fig and macadamia slice and skinny latte. She loved it and said the spanakopita was so tasty, and the coffee was just right. The fig and macadamia slice was so tasty, according to my mum. We also bought a choc brownie slice for my brother and he said it was one of the best he has ever had. After my mum and I finished, we came in for seconds, two sausage rolls, spanakopita and, a fig and macadamia slice. The lady working was so sweet and caring. Thank you knead bakers for delicious food! 10/10 recommend :)

Friendly bunch with one of the best llunch menus . It's superb for a Cafe that serves food on top of sweets and coffee. Make sure to ask for cinnamon on your coffee. My favourite

This cafe is a must-go-to in Hawthorn. The owner is so lovely and the food was incredible. This cafe is located on Burwood Road, right opposite from Swinburne University. I think the prices are very reasonable for uni students.

I tried the bagels which was part of the new menu and my goodness, it was the best bagel I've had in so long. The bagel also came with a side of salad. It was refreshing and I was very happy with the portion of the food. My friend had the smashed avo and she loved it. The food was beautifully plated, there was a decent amount of avocado - which is a plus!

Definite must try if you're ever in the area.

As a student I like a place where I can chill next to swinburne university and have a good coffee. Their Jalapeño cheese Sub is quiet unique and tasty.

I stumbled upon this cozy Cafe today for the first time and had to make an account just to leave this review.
Their Coffee is roasted and brewed so well. Right balance of coffee and acidity. The Veggie burger is filling and absolutely delicious. Will come back here for sure.

Very friendly staff. Nice home style food and coffee.
I had eggs benedict - cheaper than nearby cafes, more variety of ingredients. Really enjoyed my brunch with coffee today.

The new souvlaki tastes amazing and very delicious and I enjoyed it very well and i’m sure those before me who had chance to taste this new great food liked it. Overall it makes me to comeback again to this place. 😀

Had a surprisingly tasty chicken souvlaki.. admittedly, I've had few souvs to compare this to but I'm quite sated with this one! Packed with flavours and generously portioned compared to the average kebab pack I've had.

Very friendly staff. They have very great soups. Recently they started to serve souvlakis and kebab plates. Chilly coffees are cool as well.

Came here once for coffee some time back. It was not phenomenal, but I didn't have a chance to try some of their baked goods. The staff were really friendly and service was good.

Came for a quick catch up, their coffee was nothing special and for the price they charged (4.5 large) there are better places to get your coffee. Their service was alright, friendly but a bit hostile(?). Maybe they were having a bad day... 🙁

I ordered a cornish pastie takeaway. It was small, overdone, and very average in taste. It was slow to come out but I felt for the lady who waited longer for 2 takeaway coffees. For the product it was expensive at $6.50. I would happily pay that but for such a simple product it has to be good, and a reasonable size.
At the time there was myself, the takeaway coffee lady, and one table of 6. It wasn't busy.

Cute little bakery with great gourmet sandwiches. Also nice and quiet during the week of you want a bit of a time out. Fabulous for a quick lunch.

What's Going On?. This place looked different than before. I asked had it changed hands and I'm still unsure of the answer. Anyway, I usually buy a great loaf of bread here. Today I decided on coffee and a few little shortbreads, eat in. That all sounded good. I ordered a mug size, was served a cup size, and given my change. There wasn't much change given, so I thought maybe the $10 I'd put down wasn't enough and they'd just serve me cup size. Then I tried to reconcile the change to what I'd been given and that didn't work. So I queried it, and that was quite testing for the woman (the non-Asian) one to work it out. In the end, I just had to accept that I wasn't going to be convinced by their incompetence, shrugged my shoulders, and finished my coffee (which was nice enough). Not hurrying back, another customer was complaining, something about a special trip in for something, which they didn't have for 3 weeks in a row. Would need to improve which hopefully they will because it has been good in the past.

So cute, some welcoming, so yummy!! As well as an array of delish danish, croissants and treats there is a wall of gorgeous fresh bread and jars of the special house chutney. Amazing pie!! Soft lovely pastry, delicate and flakey and inside a tender, slow cooked beef filling – ultimate comfort food and with their homemade chutney and a touch of fresh salad this is a lovely lunch!! Equally fab is the quiche with spinach, soft, crumbly crust and sensational egg and spinach filling with a touch of cheese. That chutney is the star again and we leave with a wonderful fresh rye loaf!…. and a jar of chutney each!!

Enjoyed food, coffee, decor but expensive. Good coffee and ham and cheese croissant. Liked furniture and decor

OMG what's happened??? Changed owners confirmed.. Really really bad. Knead has changed hands 6 months ago. It was empty at lunch time! Nothing like what it used to be. Horrendous. The new people are over trying but it's all so wrong. It used to be soooo good but won't be going back again.

My coffee was less than average and products aren't tasting fresh... Last toastie was inedible and I haven't returned!

Best cakes and slices in Melbourne!. You can't go wrong with the cakes and slices here! I'm not sure where to start with listing my favourites, they're all so good. Try the fig & walnut slice, the nut danishes, the raspberry slice, the mixed berry muffins, the linzer torte, the chocolate brownies.. The gluten free cakes are delicious too, as well as the seasonal favourites (e.g. hot cross buns, mince pies, Anzac biscuits). Knead also has the best meat pies in Melbourne and excellent toasties. And yes, I have tried all of these - I've been going to Knead regularly for over 4 years now! The staff are wonderful too, very friendly. And the service is excellent. Definitely worth repeat visits!

Great service, really friendly staff and great brekkie! Love the cakes too!! Can't wait to come back and try the rest if the menu : )

Knead Bakers - Chicken Pies. Knead Bakers products are always delicious and yummy to eat, as well as their coffees - cappuccinos and hot chocolates. We're regulars here, it's such as lovely cute place to hang out for coffees or lunch - you can eat inside or outside. The staff are friendly people with cheerful attitude and a smile!

Bought Chicken Pies ($6 each) and takeaway cappuccino ($3).

I've had mixed experiences. Coffee and savory muffins are good. But service can be very slow and inadequate possibly due to being short staffed.

Friendly service, consistent fresh produce and great Gluten Free bread and food options. Great with a group or hiding away on your own with good coffee and newspaper.

Knead it a ripper option in Hawthorn. The food is made with love and authenticity, the bread is top class and the aosphere is always genuinely warm and welcoming. Remember, it's cash only!

They make a beautiful homemade pie, and a decent coffee...

Good and ok.... Popped in for a coffee this morning on my way through Hawthorn. Great muffin, coffee (flat white) waaaaaay too hot. If they got a milk thermometer I would be a happy boy.

Cute cosy and real. This place is so cute and cosy. I first found their yummy sourdough for sale at QV markets in town so decided to check out their bakery/cafe in hawthorn. had the vegie pastie with salad and tomato chutney and the lady put some complimentary soup on the side as i had trouble earlier deciding between soup or pastry which was lovely. Had a great latte (genovese i think?) and a macadamia shortcake, so friggin good! Music was a mix between triple j and jazzy. at one stage a gaga song came on and i laughed to see 2 of the staff run to skip it on the ipod. i like their style :) all food is made on site which i really liked. def would recommend.
