I came here today to get a cappuccino. The taste was rich with a strong coffee aroma. Great coffee and very cute interior. Look forward to trying the food here with the misses
It’s a tiny cafe that serves simple and basic brunch food. We ordered a butter pancake for sharing, and it’s actually really filling for the both of us. The pancake’s fantastic and the barista is exceptionally polite & attentive at the same time. Would definitely recommend this place if you wish to have some quiet time alone with yourself or with your partner. Additionally, I would recommend their ice brew coffee

Before we move out of the neighbourhood, this little cafe still under renovation. It is now open for business and what better way to kick off the new decade than a lovely brunch!? 😼🍴So here’s my first brunch of 2 🥚2🥚 !
.
A small yet cozy cafe situated along Glenferrie Road, light-filled interior with a welcoming and homey vibe🌞.
.
It was so rare to find the use of Yunnan Green Coffee Beans in Melbourne coffee scene, so I was pretty excited to try out their coffee 🇨🇳✈️☕️. We started with their NECTAR SINGLE ORIGIN - YUNNAN LATTE & FLAT WHITE ($4.5), made with freshly roasted coffee beans imported from Yunnan and local sourced St David Dairy milk🐄. The end result is a deliciously smooth, aromatic cup of coffee💯.
.
For food, we opted the GRAPEFRUIT EGGS BENEDICT ($20)🍳. Perfectly poached eggs, thick-cut bacon🥓, zucchini noodles, crushed nori and salad on brioche loaf with homemade grapefruit hollandaise (interesting😍). It was immaculate!😘 BUTTERMILK PANCAKES ($17) 🥞 was airy, fluffy and just the right amount of sweetness. Topped with caramelised banana, strawberries, kiwi and crushed pistachio🍓🥝🍌✨. It was simple yet satisfying!
.
I couldn’t help myself ordering another coffee even though I don’t need the extra caffeine boost, I got a SINGLE ORIGIN LONG BLACK ($4.2). Mmmmm it was heaven! 🤩A clean tasting coffee with a distinctly fruity fragrance, rich but not bitter, aromatic but not overwhelming👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼.
.
I can honestly say they served one of the best coffee I’ve had, caring service too! I will def drop by for some more goodies🚗💨
The Yunnan Black tea is quite mellow, I asked for a refill. The romantic purple rose latte is accompanied by real sun-dry rose pedals, and is mild sweet. Lunch menu is fantastic. Would definitely come back and try more in the brunch menu.
Very friendly staff and cozy environment!

This is such a cute cafe located in the heart of hawthorn's bustling main street.
The cafe specialises in coffee and they do it well! They get their very own beans important just for them and you can tell the baristas take great pride in the product they are serving up.
The interior is just beautiful- a minimalist yet homely feel with great use of natural light.
All employees make you feel very welcome when you walk in and ensure they attend to your every need. It was a little slow to get our food out in time as there was only one person in the kitchen however that was not a huge issue as the food was quite delicious when it did come out plus, we had some great coffee to keep us busy in the meantime.
We ordered a cold brew coffee, an iced coffee and a latte. Each was delicious and had great coffee flavour. The barista showed us how they make their in house cold brew and it was amazing to see the processes it goes through and how much care is taken to ensure we get the best quality cold brew they have to offer. The latte was also delicious and creamy as one should be and the iced coffee was not only beautiful but had a great roasted coffee flavour!
Onto food we ordered the pancakes, the big breakfast and the salmon bagel.
The pancakes were a little dense however very flavourful as they were accompanied by some delicious seasonal fruits and maple syrup which all worked together in unison.
The big breakfast had everything one would need for a nice hearty meal. Bacon, eggs, spinach, tomato, mushrooms, potato and a bowl of granola and yoghurt. Every element was very well done and i thought the addition of the granola was a great idea and made for a nice ending to the meal and made it a bit different to most other big breakfast's you may get elsewhere.
The salmon bagel was very yummy as they make their bagels in house- you can taste the freshness of the bread which is accompanied well with a creamy beetroot cream cheese, tangy red onion and sweet and salty smoked salmon- the perfect on the go breaky!
What a stunning cafe in busy Hawthorn. Stepping into Four Kilo Fish, you immediately feel a sense of calm in this beautiful light filled space with it's marble tables, plush booth seating, and pastel touches all around. It really has the loveliest vibe, and this is reiterated when you are greeted by the sweet staff. You can sense the love they have for this cafe and everything it evokes. We were lead through the menu and suggestions were made to try the coffee and teas which hail from Yunnan, China. They were amazing, with the tea served in the most divine ceramics. It really added to the experience, and was thoroughly enjoyable.
We started with the grapefruit eggs Benedict. Served on a delicious, thick slice of brioche with thickly cut bacon, greens, gorgeous eggs and a heavenly grapefruit infused hollondaise. Totally scrumptious and as delicious as it looked.
Many Melbourne cafes have huge pancake stacks, covered in all sorts of toppings and bits and pieces. However, at Four Kilo Fish the hotcakes are pared back. Simply topped with kiwifruit and strawberries, with a side of bruleed banana and a jug of syrup. Presentation is elegant, and despite it's simplicity; these are some of the best pancakes that I've had at a cafe. The pancakes themselves had so much flavour, and were the perfect consistency. An absolute treat, especially when drenched in syrup. The fruit was the perfect touch of freshness, and I will never say no to bruleed banana.
Four Kilo Fish is a total surprise package. With it's tranquil ambience, gorgeous staff and amazing menu; it really is the perfect little oasis amongst the hustle and bustle of busy Hawthorn.
Passionate coffee makers delivering coffee and tea direct from farmers in China. Modern and comfortable cafe. Friendly service. Excellent coffee.
Nice shop. Delicious food. And I pretty like the Yunnan coffee, tastes amazing!!!
I have been coming here once or twice a week for a few months now. I really rate the coffee whether it be batch brew, white coffee or an espresso.
Beautiful space and friendly staff too. Can’t recommend enough
Four Kilo Fish has a nice vibe with the trendy décor making it a relaxing place to enjoy their delicious food and coffee. The staff are very friendly and the service has been fantastic at each visit. Keep up the awesome work! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 👌
Four Kilo Fish Coffee and Tea is a recently opened light filled cafe located along Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn.
Visiting on a weekend for breakfast I ordered the Grapefruit Egg Benedict along with a coffee and the house exclusive Yunnan black tea.
The grapefruit Benedict featuring short bacon, grapefruit hollandaise, crushed nori and poached eggs on brioche loaf was highly enjoyable. The eggs were perfectly poached and the flavours of the dish worked well together. The grapefruit hollandaise provided a touch of sweetness, and when combined with the salad was rather refreshing. Unlike the typical eggs benny which can be a bit heavy this version was relatively light. The brioche thick cut toast was perfect for mopping up all yolk and hollandaise.
As a point of difference, the coffee here is sourced from Yunnan and roasted in-house. Both the coffee and house exclusive Yunnan black tea were full of flavour.
Overall I had a lovely experience at Four Kilo Fish Coffee and Tea and I hope I get a chance to return and try more of the menu. I recommend that you check them out if you’re in the area. I give them ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5. Thanks very much for having me.
Flat White: Smooth and rich, very tasty.
Loose Leaf Chai Latte: The best I have ever had.
Bagel is yummy.
Love the vibe. Good place to have some breakfast in Hawthorn.
A very modern and relaxing cafe with tasty and fresh menu options. Their smoked salmon bagel is amazing and would definitely go back for more. Friendly staff and great service.
Cute little cafe but quality of coffee and food is great. Coffee tastes very nice as a Latte and you can tell they treat every cup of coffee seriously! Definitely recommend.
Four kilo fish provides a variety of decent food and coffee. Staff members are nice and friendly. 100% recommended!
Beautiful cafe with delicious coffee and friendly staff. Their coffee machine is so cool!
Their coffee is very lovely, even my friend who does not drink any coffee likes it.
Crunchy potatoes in Big Brekkie is very delicious.
Specialty coffee that you do not want to miss! Super friendly owners who are greatly passionate about food and coffee. I only ordered the coffee this time even though the pastries are hard to resist. Ice Future is fantastic! You will not be disappointed, guaranteed.
Super delicious green omelette 😍
A nice brunch with my dear friends! The most economical brunch I have ever ate! Also very delicious! A pretty enjoyable experience! You deserve it!!!!!!!
I got the pancake and my friend got the big brekkie, the dishes were fresh and price worthy, came with good presentation (we forgot to take pics tho). prompt and friendly staff. when I went to the bathroom then I saw the open kitchen, pretty clean. also, v and vg friendly :) cozy ambience for chatting with friends.
Coffee is great! Had pumpkin salad and spicy eggs today. Tastes good.
Very nice small cafe, bright open space, food was excellent, we had the salmon beagle and big breakfast which was very well priced. Coffee was great. Really enjoyed it will be back!

Definitely i love it
Excellent coffee and delicious food with beautiful presentations. Lovely staff and cozy environment perfect for a lazy Sunday brunch with friends. My favourite is the smoked salmon bagel with cream cheese.
Me and two friends visited this lovely cafe on a cold and rainy Sunday morning, but the moment we talked into the place, we received the warmest welcome. It is a beautiful cafe and filled with pleasant coffee aromas.
As recommended by my friend, I tried their single-origin coffee from Yunnan, which was sensational, aromatic with a unique fresh fruity tea flavour. After one single sip of their coffee, I knew this is the cafe that worth to visit again.
Their food menu was fantastic, and I had egg salad bagel, which was delicious, creamy and full of flavour, plus the portion was perfect as well.
I highly recommend Four Kilo Fish Cafe + Tea to everyone passionate about their coffee and food.
I’m so glad we found this hidden gem on Glenferrie rd Hawthorn to brunch at on Sunday morning, and boy it did not disappoint, it was so good. I loved the delicious creamy grapefruit eggs benedict, with poached eggs on brioche bread. And Wow!, the thick cut bacon was full of flavour and really complemented the dish.
My hubby had the green omelette on toast, with sautéed mushroom and capsicum. He said it was really good, and that he savoured it till the last bite. Also the sizes were good and very filling. The colours were great to.
We shared the beautifully fluffy “Old School” pancakes with pure maple syrup, banana, strawberry & kiwi fruit. My hubby said they were the best pancakes he has ever had, very flavoursome, thick, buttery and delicious.
They are also famous for their coffee, and yes it was aromatic and full of flavour. You have to check out the coffee machine, its a gorgeous shiny chrome and looks amazing.
This place is excellent, the service was first class. I can’t recommend it highly enough.
I visited this stunning cafe over the weekend, the decor and interior just beautiful. Joey, the owner was so lovely and very passionate about her cafe.
The coffees here are fantastic, my friend and I ordered some latte's and we were also fortunate to try the filtered coffee which was smooth and light. Normally, I don't like black coffee as I find it too bitter but this was really nice, a definite recommend.
The menu is really good, not too over complicated and what is on offer has been nailed by the chef. My friend and I shared the pancakes which were just so yummy, nice and fluffy and so tasty with the fruits and maple sauce. Next was the bagel with egg salad which was so creamy and full of flavour. Lastly, the eggs benedict with grapefruit hollandaise, wow what a dish! The eggs poached perfectly and the size of the bacon was cut so thiiiick!! The bread tasted on the sweet side, perhaps a brioche? All in all, this was a killer dish.
This is definitely a cafe to visit, the staff are just so lovely and the food and coffee great! Thank you for the invite, we had a really good time.
We visited this beautiful café on the weekend with our dog - Zeus.
There are a couple tables out the front on a wide footpath, so Zeus had plenty of space to let the foot traffic pass comfortably.
Once we arrived, we were greeted by Joey, the owner. Joey told us about her café, and in particular their specialty coffee from Yunnan in China. Joey was also more than happy to answer any questions about the menu or provide recommendations.
We decided to order the Green Omelette and the Stewed Apple Warm Bowl (pictured). Zeus got a puppacino, too! Both dishes were delicious! The omelette was so tasty and comes with the perfect side amount of toast and salad. The Stewed Apple Warm Bowl (Oats) is the perfect dish for a crisp Melbourne morning.
Furthermore to the food, the café interior was pristine, the seating was comfortable, and the service was very friendly.
Looking forward to another visit!
You might wonder if this place is Hawthorn’s new fish and chippery from its peculiar name. As you walk into the stylish space—designed by The Stella Collective—you’re swathed in rich coffee aromas and immediately convinced it’s definitely not. Four Kilo Fish was named after co-owner Yee, whose full name literally means four kilos of fish in Mandarin (Sijin Yu). It’s kind of a personal joke but sparks the curiosity of locals and foot traffic. The light-filled café, with marble-top tables and olive green furnishings, draws you in, urging you to have a peek and ask questions.
Owners Yee and Joey originally launched ‘Fish’ to showcase speciality single origin coffee, carefully sourced from Yunnan—where they were both born and raised. Yunnan farmers have been growing and producing coffee for over 100 years but only started focusing on specialty beans over the last decade. They’ve been working hard to boost their coffee quality and global reputation, experimenting with different methods such as naturally drying coffee ‘cherries’ to enrich fruit flavours.
Yee and Joey jumped on the opportunity to support their homeland coffee producers, confident that Yunnan has a place in Melbourne’s esteemed coffee culture. Their biannual visits to the coffee farms also give Yee the opportunity to see her grandma who lives nearby (too sweet!). The café serves (and sells) rare single origin blends, as well as fusions with Peruvian coffee—another emerging coffee contender—such as their signature ‘Uprising’ blend. In addition to their distinct name, another oddity is their ‘Modbar’ coffee machine installed under the counter. ‘We intentionally chose this machine so customers can see and talk to the barista about the coffee and ask questions,’ explains Joey.
Being fervent foodies who love exploring Melbourne’s dining scene, the pair decided to also launch a food menu because, why not? Alongside their inventive chefs, they’ve worked tirelessly on developing their breakfast menu, creating bold flavour combinations that reflect their philosophy on coffee: balanced sourness, acidity and body. Highlights include the Grapefruit Egg Benedict with grapefruit hollandaise, crushed nori, spongey brioche loaf and thick-cut short bacon; Smoked Salmon Bagel (bagels from Five & Dime) with house-made mandarin cream cheese, red onion and tomatoes; and a refreshing take on the classic smashed avo: cucumber, pickled radish, crushed nuts and lemon zest. From 11am, you can also dabble in their lunch menu featuring the Open Burger (which doesn’t seem like a burger at all) with an organic grass-fed beef patty, hash brown, tamarind and broccoli puree topped with a whopping Portobello mushroom. Satisfy your curiosity and pop into Four Kilo Fish for your next brunch date.
Very lovely and cozy place! The coffee is so good and unique. Food are delicious! Reasonable price.
beautiful cafe with creative dishes and friendly staff, coffee is lovely!
Amazing vibes, barista very good and waitress very kind! The coffee it was delicious 🤤
Recommend!
Definitely gonna be there again! The coffee is very special!
A nice little gem opened on Glenferrie Rd in Hawthorn earlier this year. We have been there several times and tries pretty much everything on the menu :) Fantastic food and service. Recommend Open Burger and Big Brekkie if you feel hungry. If you are not super hungry, egg salad bagels or pork roll are recommended too. And you cannot miss their coffee! Taste Yunan origin coffee in Melbourne for a change. Definitely will come back again soon. xx
