Review Paramparaa Indian Restaurant - Healesville

Dropped in for a meal Thursday night. Food was great. The flavours were fresh, with great textures and tastes. Good sized serves and wonderful customer service! Finished our meal comfortably full with lovely lingering tastes. Would highly recommend.

Our meal was excellent. The staff were really nice and everything tasted so fresh and authentic. The roti bread was delicious!

A big favourite with the locals this gem boasts a good menu and fast service. Wine menu includes a few local wines from the are and beers/spirits. The decor is often the most talked about feature with lilac high-backed dining chairs and drapes. Fairy lights strung around the room and mosaic glass light fixtures add a festive touch. Like most great Indian places it looks dead from the street in the day but is lit up well most evenings and packed with comfort food seeking locals and visitors in groups after a relaxed meal. Very friendly and efficient service. If you ask they put some music on which livens it up a bit.

Tried to walk in and get a table but got told we couldn't dine in (for no reason in the empty restaurant) so we decided takeout was fine. During discussing what to order we were told the kitchen has run of everything (an hour and a half before closing time) the staff member was very blunt and it was apparent customer service was not on her radar. Appalling service and I wouldn't even go for a second chance. I'd advise everyone to support the other local businesses of Healesville including Healesville Thai, who delivered excellent food and exceptional service.

Dined in on Sunday, costumer service was good Food was delicious until we spent all night in the toilet vomiting Would never eat here again

Was advised by the receptionist that they only do walk ins after 8pm over the phone. We walked in and they advised that they are not seating anyone and it's only takeaway. Went to order and was told that they are out of stock with everything on the menu (8pm on a Saturday night).... This place needs to educate staff on how to communicate with customers. Will never be back and I do not recommend this place at all. We ended up going to the Thai restaurant down the road who not only seated us but had stock in every item on the menu.

Delicious food, lovely staff. Don’t know why there aren’t more people eating in!

We had some take away and found the service to be polite and efficient. The flavors of the chicken tikka masala and the eggplant exceeded expectations in a town this size. The HOT was really spicy but didn’t kill and the medium was exactly that. Loved it.

This place is amazing! The food is absolutely delicious. All the dishes were tasty and authentic. Everything was well priced too. The food took a little time to come out but we didn’t mind because we knew they were making everything fresh. If you’re in Healesville, I highly recommend Paramparaa!!!

We opted for the $40 per person Banquet option this Sunday lunch time. We were craving Indian and since we happened to drive by this place we decided to try it out. It was around 12pm when we walked inside, we asked if they were open to which the lady responded yes. No lights were on inside and for the whole hour and 30mins we were there, we were the only customers. I guess it's because they get people in for dinner mainly. Appreciated the quietness and attention we received though. The chef came out to see if we were happy with the food a couple of times, he and the other staff were friendly and polite. He also allowed us to change the dessert from gulab jamun to mango kulfi so that was very accomodating. The food was simply full of flavor and delicious. Butter chicken and beef madras were my favourites. Highly recommended if are in the area.

Credit where credit is due, my last review of this place was pretty bad. So we came here on a Saturday night and it was reasonably busy, firstly the waitress was great really friendly and helpful, then the food.. Awesome, like really good some of the best Indian I’ve had, I’m so glad this quality Indian is back in Healesville.

Fantastic meal. My girlfriend and I shared a range of dishes, including green curry chicken and coconut rice. Delivery driver was on time and polite. As a local resident, I would highly recommend.

Spot on! Great authentic atmosphere and decor. Friendly staff. Very quick service. Reasonably priced. Ordered garlic naan, beef vindaloo, palak paneer and Palau rice. Everything was great! Took the leftovers home for brekky the next day!

Very welcoming when we arrived, and were seated at ornate but comfortable chairs. The Vegetarian and I shared the onion bhaji which was like the best plate of onion fries. Up to that point service had been efficient, however we had a wait of more than half an hour before our main course arrived, and sadly the bhaji was the pinnacle. Korma lacked oomph and The Vegetarian said the same for the paneer masala.

Terrible. No service. Couldn't even get menus. Only two other tables occupied. Eventually we managed to order entrees - they never returned in the hr+ to take a mains order. Only one of the two entrees arrived. It was fatty & flavourless. The lady in charge blamed 'the girl' for not doing what she was told although she stood behind the bar and did nothing herself.
Don't waste your time or money.

We chose a couple of signature dishes - chicken, cashew and mushroom in a creamy curry sauce and the Koora lamb. We like our food hot and asked the chef to adjust the spice accordingly. The results were fantastic and we really enjoyed our meal - delicious chicken and spicy, tender lamb. The two waitresses were super friendly and nice which really made our evening.

We stopped at Paramparaa for a dinner on our way back from skiing on the Lake Mountain. Didn't expect much - but these guys surprised us, and the overall experience well exceeded our expectations!
We ordered 2 Lamb meals - Pasanda and Koora - and enjoyed them very much.
The meat was tender and juicy, and the sauces were divine: in Pasanda it was a very mild and creamy blend of various nuts (pistachio, cashew, almond), Koora (Chef's special) was more spicy but full of flavour.
The choice of wines was quite good, too - my wife had a Pino Gris, and I chose one of my favourites - Billy Billy Shiraz from Mount Ghiran (Victoria).
The girls-waiters welcomed us with smiles, and periodically checked (with a smile again!) whether we need anything else.
The ambience was very nice - all decorated in purple colours, and the background music was lovely, instrumental authentic Indian - just right, not too loud or low .
Well done! We are looking forward to visit Paramparaa some time soon.

Great food!. My family and I were on a little holiday in Healesville and as we love Indian food we thought we'd give this place a go. Everything was delicious! I had an eggplant curry with peas in it (can't remember the name) and it was so good. Prices are reasonable and service was friendly and prompt. I wish this was my local Indian restaurant!

Good Indian Food!. We love the food at Parampara! If you are in town and would like to try Indian food, or if you already love Indian food, this place will not disappoint. Reasonable prices, good portions, great tastes! Would highly recommend.

Never again. I was totally unhappy with my meals that I ordered from this place. I was so looking forward to having some lovely Indian curry but unfortunately my family and I will never order from there again. I'm a chef by trade so I know what value for money is. $17.50 per 500g container which was mostly sauce and we ordered 4. No extra nan bread, burnt papadoms... Come on you supposedly 5star chefs. STOP RIPPING PEOPLE OFF!

Sorry not impressed. After being told that our Indian would take roughly 30minutes to be delivered we ended up waiting over 2hrs and we called several times only be told they are on the way and still having to wait about 15min (we only live 5mins away), they finally arrived and the delivery man was shocked when i asked for a discount, i finally convinced him to call his manager as i wasnt taking the delivery with out a discount they only gave me 10% off and the food was cold. i understand Friday nights are busy but we shouldnt have been told it would only take 30mins. not happy

Highly recommend. This is the best Indian I've had. So many layers of flavour. Plenty of veg choices. And, if you have the time to dine in, really lovely service. Definitely recommend.

Service was fantastic i got takeaway
I was shocked that a can of coke was $3.80 never paid that before anywhere.
Naan bread under cooked butter chicken was nice but had no flavor.
Aangan in footscay west is way nicer indian food hard to believe this place has 86% must not have many reviews
Improvement here is a must for future customers to remain happy.
Not recomended but overall ok
Just cant justify $3.80 for a can of coke

It's what's on the inside that counts. Doesn't look much from the outside but it is absolutely brilliant, the food is great (the naan and their specialty chicken curry were brilliant). Definitely recommend!

Been here many times since opening including large group for my 40th. Tonight went with partner and had another lovely meal. Scallops in tomato and chicken salad crepes for entree then tandoori lamb cutlets and pasanda chicken with garlic naan for main. A bottle of nz sav blanc to drink and more than happy. Service great and decor so indian restaurant. Highly recommend.

Have been here an hour and a half and still waiting for my main. So cold I have had to wear my boyfriend's on top of my own. If you like the Antarctic and extensive waiting for rubbish food - dine here.

Loved the food and service here. Very nice atmosphere and vibe in the restaurant. The staff were lovely and very attentive. They were always on top of refilling our water with nice cold water. We order a few vegetarian dishes and were very satisfied. The veggies were cooked perfectly, not over done. The mahkani was really tasty. The only criticism, the naan was slightly under cooked, but the flavour of garlic and basil was still lovely. Highly recommend, especially within the area of healsville.

Very Tasty Food. Came here with a mate and stayed for 2 nights in Healesville early May. Friday night had us here with two botts of wine for a very good night. The ambience was perfect with a bit of background sitar and the heaters turned up, perfect with a Merlot and a Roussane. Great flavours in their main meals, and friendly attentive staff. i am not surprised of its high rating. Highly recommended for a town with not a lot of choices.

By far the best Indian in victoria!!

Delicious!. A group of six of us went here on a Saturday night. It was fairly busy but we were able to book a table only half an hour before arriving.
Knowing that Indian food can be quite filling we didn't bother with entrees and ordered mains straight away. The food took a little while to come out but it was worth the wait! I had the chef's special "Chicken Mumtaj" and I highly recommend it. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the sauce was so full of flavour.
The serving sizes were spot on. All of us finished our meals and no one was left feeling hungry.
A fantastic restaurant in Healsville!

Food was not that good.. Took family and friends there to try it out and very disappointed., I ask for kids menu and the man who serve as said they dont cater for kids.. :(... Thats where the disappointed start . We expect big food for our main course and very disappointed as it like the size of your fist the meal. The restaurant was packed but that doesnt mean the staff have to rush to and fro and not to tend to their customers properly. One not happy customer and not go there again. We rang all our families and friends and tell them our experience and was good because one of our friends was planning to take her visitor there the following week and with that phone call we made change her mind to go there.. Bad experience and not go there again..

Surprisingly tasty. The restaurant had a strange atmosphere and it was very empty the whole night, however the food was absolutely delicious and I will definitely go there again when I am next in the Healesville area.

Excellent food and service. My best Indian restaurant ever.We always take our overseas visitors here and everyone agrees it is the best. Exterior would benefit from a makeover, but the food is worth it. Try the Koora Lamb curry. Have this every visit
Andrew Gibbons
Delicious food, friendly service, lovely setting, slow delivery, was grumpy hungry when food arrived, perhaps they could ask when you would like mains.

Unfortunately I have to disagree with the reviews. I've tasted authentic Indian and this was far from it. It seems like the chef has toned down the authentic flavours to accommodate the Aussie pallet. Extremely disappointing in my opinion but as I said, I've been spoilt with the real deal and my standards are quite high.. But the locals seem to love it as the restaurant was packed!
Missmolly
Best Indian ever ! Totally the best I've ever had, every dish is delish and reasonably priced - love love it!

Yum yum. Very nice and friendly and really tasty. Paramparaa was really great indian food, not just good food, but particularly good indian. We had the banquent which was also a really good deal. totally stuffed ourselves for the same price as one main from the hotel.

Flavour right through. The food at Paramparaa is absolutely fantastic. I'm a big fan of Indian food, but after dining here I realise I've been missing out on a lot of flavour.

There's a really nice bit of heat to everything we ate, but it was well balanced against the flavour of the food. When I've previously eaten spicier offerings from Indian restaurants, it feels tacked on and unbalanced. Paramparaa gets it just right.

Which leads me to my suspicion that Indian restaurants cook up a big pot of unflavoured meat then reheat it on-demand with the requested sauce. Which means the flavour is all in the sauce and not at all in the meat. Again, Paramparaa gets it right. The flavours were right through the incredibly succulent meats.

The only problem I have with Paramparaa is that I live two and a half hours away!

The staff were nicely attentive without hovering or going missing. The decor is .. well .. over the top and a little too pink -- but I guess that's a reflection on flavour that goes right through the meat!
