Went here on the weekend with a couple of friends and sat outside in the front area. Ordered the steak sandwich off the chefs special page and was very happy as it was tender and juicy and one of the best steak sandwiches I’ve had in a long time. The service out the front by the lovely waiter was amazing as he was very attentive. The coffee was some of the nicest I’ve had in the area If you like black coffee ask for the “seasonal” blend and you won’t be disappointed, happy to say we will return again.
Lovely! Much better service and food than chapter too down the road! The owner was a pleasure to meet and the food was delicious! Coffee was delicious and the eggs were yummy!
Fabulous Coffee and simply amazing food! !!! We eat here regularly, great staff and love the courtyard too. Also dog friendly!!!
Will be back
had lunch with 2 girlfriends. I ate the pork spare ribs. tender with lots of meat on the ribs. the sauce was amazing. I was happy and full. we were talked into trying the new Cuban coffee by our waitress. I recommend it to everyone who likes strong flavoursome coffee without bitterness. couldn't fault the service. food is restaurant standard with cafe prices. we all agree that we will be back
We had lunch at Barclays on Sunday. I had the house made beef and Burgundy pie. Full of tender beef in a rich sauce. Simply amazing. my wife had the poached Atlantic salmon off the weekly specials. It was fresh, great presentation, a great variety of textures and flavours. Staff were friendly and attentive. Food was delivered quickly despite a large group arrived at the same time. I love Jasper coffee, the barista made it just right - hot, smooth with great flavour without any bitterness. We will be back
Good food and coffee but the head waiter on a satuday clearly doesnt like her job. Breakfast gets plonked on your table without any communication. Other wait staff are great tho
Friendly staff, good coffee and the eggs Benedict was slightly different to the standard!
Poached eggs, bacon and hollandaise on Turkish bread. Just on $21 in total, very reasonable!
Will visit again
Has been a while since I've been here, but I used to visit all the time.
Very vegetarian friendly and portion sizes are generous without being over the top.
Coffee quality was always consistent.
Hollandaise is absolutely bang on. Something I rate quite highly and as wanky as it sounds this usually determines if I come back to a cafe.
Only reason I don't visit so much now is because I've done all the vegie dishes to death.
They used to have this great one with asparagus and shaved parmesan that would totally lure me back if they put that on the menu again.
I've lived in Heathmont for 7 years and have always avoided this place for some reason. Came for lunch today and am pleasantly surprised! Love that there are kids options that don't break the bank and a meal here with the family is actually affordable, unlike the other cafes in the strip. My BLT and coffee were awesome, my partner's burger was sensational and my son had the waffles. Yum! We will come again!
This place doesn't disappoint - friendly service, great coffee and hearty foods sure to please. If one is unsure of what to order, the smashed avocado and the Belgian waffles are great choices - fresh, vibrant and of course, delicious! 😊
Went for brunch this morning. Staff were so lovely. I ordered the bircher museli and it was awesome!!! My boyfriend ordered the chilli eggs with an added 2 potato rosti. Thank goodness he ordered the extra rosti because otherwise he would have still been hungry. The chilli eggs were so delicious also but perhaps could have been a bit bigger. 2 slices of bread instead of one. Will for sure go back to this place 😊😊 compliments to the staff and chef!
Stopped in for an alfresco coffee while walking the dogs. Coffee was great but music outside was too loud to have a conversation. Will definitely come back and hopefully the music volume will be turned down.
Saturday brunch for 9. Place was very spacious, a welcome change from tiny inner city boxes. This appears to be the local hang out. Many options on the menu. Meals were nicely presented, generous portions and compliments all around the table. Staff very friendly and patient, allowed us to split our bills. No room for dessert but the array of desserts looked impressive.
Have been to Barclays many times. Always busy but service is friendly. This time we had the lamb tagine and beef pie - both very tasty and fair value.
Enjoyed a coffee and breakfast with the fiancé here. The atmosphere is great and it is always warm and cosy!
Then food is good! I have been here a few times now :)
I can tell this was a local favourite as the place was buzzing on a Friday afternoon. I was really impressed by the large range of all day breakfast and lunch menu items they were serving here! I had the iced chocolate and it was one of the good ones I've had in awhile. I ordered the smoked salmon stack and it was tasty in terms of flavour & texture. Such a shame it was a small portion, I finished eating my dish even before my friend got through half of her dish.
Went to Barclays for an end of year breakfast to say thanks to my staff for their work all year. This occasion was the first time I'd been there. Firstly the service was excellent from the time
I called to book for 12 people all the way through to paying at the end.
The ambiance is vibrant and welcoming. Even the little alfresco tables at the front of the cafe are inviting.
The food is high quality and delicious. The Belgian waffles with Nutella and strawberries is a personal favourite. The coffee is also good. Smooth and well balanced.
Overall I love this place and since the original visit, have been back numerous times.
Busy little cafe in a busy shopping strip. Only complaint is it is hard to find a park. Food always fantastic, hot, presented well and taste excellent with plenty of it. Good value for money. Coffee hit and miss, I've yet to have an outstanding one. I go for the food above all. Staff seem to change alot so no personal touch. Male owner tends to have his fav customers he talks to. Cosy, relaxed atmosphere and no too loud for a small establishment. I would come here at least once a month and I recommend it. The air con has been lovely in summer and the newish art work on the walls are great to look at too (I believe they are for sale too) Well done Barclays team.
A group of four of us attended Barclays again for lunch on 24 Jan. Despite the cafe being packed out, the food was delicious and service prompt. The pick amoung us was the waffles - fantastic! A great menu, huge range and haven't had a bad dish yet!
Great breaky this morning, poached eggs to perfection not to mention the amazing waffles with Nutella!!
Awesome menu with so much choice!!! Definitely recommend!!
Last time I came here the food was so yummy! A great burger with sweet potato chips. They have a pretty big menu. I'm not sure they could do it all that well... But I'm willing to go back and give them a chance.
Great menu, large range of cakes including Vegan and gluten free options. Chefs are friendly and trialing different types of raw and whole foods.
Love this place! Coffee is great, the food is great, and the service is always exceptional. The courtyard area out the back is great on sunny days. Must try!
Went here for lunch with my wife and friends and found food to be of a standard I hadn't experienced in such a busy cafe, the risotto my wife had said it was the best she's had, not to mention the Gourmet Lamb Burger is in my top burgers from around the world. Will be back with a question
Barclay's has amazing coffee, amazing food, amazing staff who are so friendly, welcoming and up for a chat. Great breaky menu!! Always so busy with a great atmosphere. The only thing I find hard is bringing in my 12 week old in a pram and no changing facilities in the toilet or change table. I live locally so love walking up with my bub but sometimes have to go somewhere else to cater for pram and nappy changing. All in all, a lovely place with tasty food.
We were seated out the back in the heated courtyard as the inside was full. There was an immense selection of tempting cakes displayed in the glass cabinet which I will have to try on a return visit for afternoon tea.
The service ....excellent. The food magnificent.....all day breakfast everyday, and look out for the ever changing specials board. Great under cover courtyard, with 3 heaters.........overlooking gums and pine trees. Jasper Fairtrade coffee delivers the coffee fix in-style. And look out for theme nights....the last was held last Friday night, complete with Flamenco guitarist. High Tea is first Tuesday of each month.....I have been to all of these and never the same dishes twice. Just love the place, will call it home for a long time to come. Going to the Jazz night in August....cannot wait
Have been a regular here for quite a few years, although I thought the café was very good, after new owners took over last year the place has transformed dramatically in every way ,best coffee I have ever had, superb meals and beautiful home baked cakes along with great staff makes this place a real treat to dine at, Do yourself a favour and go there.
Great Lunch Today. The place was pumping for lunch. Table for 2. Very friendly service and drinks and food came out hot and quick considering how busy they were. Staff were friendly and the owners seemed to walk around having a good chat to customers and looked like they loved their job! Food was fantastic. Thai Green Curry on the Specials board was so tasty and the coffee was perfect temp and taste. Well done little busy cafe, it was worth the drive and we will happily recommend. Next time we will try the housemade desserts, they looked great.
GOOD FOOD GOOD COFFEE GOOD SERVICE. I have been a visitor to Barklays on several occasions and have found it lovely to be greeted by a happy smiling faced waitress and shown to my table. The meals are generous and well presented and always of a high standard. The menu has a good variety of choice, from a quick snack to a meal.
It is a very busy Cafe with dog friendly tables out the front and a Courtyard out the rear where you can enjoy your meal or coffee.
It is a very busy Cafe but the staff are ready to be of assistance and are always very attentive to your needs
I look forward to visiting on a regular basis for the Great Coffee & Meals.
Fabulous coffee!. Came in for coffee and afternoon tea, but ended up being swayed by the delicious menu! Tried the delicious Pork Turkish and Chunky Potatoes. How yummy. Followed with the best tasting coffee I've had in a long time and you've got a perfect mix. It was a very busy day and the staff definitely looked under the pump, but were doing a fantastic job of getting everything done that they had to. Great work guys, we'll definitely be back!
Great Coffee. For years Barclays was known for its great coffee. Late last year the consistency of the coffee dropped off. Good coffees were still good unfortunately not all coffees I had were good. In the last month or so things have improved. My coffees have been consistently great - up to the old Barclays standard. Barclays have new baristas who seem to know what they are doing and really care about their coffee.
Barclays Big Breakfast. All elements of this dish are simply delightful, with the smoky chorizo and delicate fried egg the personal favourites. A most divine meal that is certainly worth it's price, as the quality of the products serve to provide you with a breakfast to remember.
Barclay's has decent food but the kitchen does close early and you are left with whatever is in the fridge. Service is variable. Great place to sit out the front with the dogs (if you can get a table). I do go back every now and then.

Converted!. When Chapter Too opened down the opposite end of the strip I was very excited. I'd never been a fan of Barclays; the food, service or the atmosphere. Chapter Too started off OK, not great, but I gave it a few chances because the owners were nice and I knew they were new to the hospitality game. But Chapter Too was always so busy and noisy so we started going to Barclays again. I was pleasantly surprised by the place. The food was delicious, the service was pretty good (most of the wait staff are friendly, with the exception of one or two) and the coffee has improved dramatically; previously it was like dishwater. The owners of Chapter Too got out, whilst the buzz about the place was still high (they may have lacked hospitality experience but they were very financially savvy), and the rest is history. The vibe of the place changed, the staff changed (the service is still shocking), the food is average...I'm in no rush to go back. But Barclays? Well I will continue to frequent that place regularly! We're lacking great eateries in the East so thank goodness we've got Barclays. Now all we need is a great restaurant that serves dinner in the area!
Love visiting this cafe! Consistently good coffee, 'the Jude' is a new blend and absolutely delicious. Well-priced breakfast, yummy options for morning or afternoon tea. Friendly staff. If you're a Heathmont local you'll always bump into someone you know!
Excellent Eggs. Great breaky here. Love the Dukka Eggs. Will definitely be back.
Great cafe. Always busy. Nice coffee, tasty fresh sandwiches
Great local cafe, friendly service with a relaxed atmosphere. Kid friendly with high chairs available.
Service. Total lack of enthusiasm from the waitress. Couldn't have cared less, Flung the menus down .Food very generous , slightly overpriced.

Interesting local Vibe, but Inconsistent Service. Depsite the slightly weathered facade of Barclays Cafe visible through the gum trees from the railway line, the interior is of a much more vibrant note. Upon walking in, the waitresses were friendly and attentive, being more than happy to seat me.
Interestingly once I took my seat, I had barely looked at the menu before I was asked if I was ready to order by three different waitresses within the space of about three minutes. The options available were of a standard brunch fare; I was however intrigued by the egg sombrero and ordered that. My meal arrived promptly and it was of a sizable portion. The chilli bean topping was quite tasty (full of flavour without being overly spicy) but the potato hash brown didn't quite cut it. The potatoes were a bit undercooked and lacked flavour.
Once I had finished, it took me a while to get a waitresses attention to grab a drinks menu, and after that, it took longer for someone to come around. Going inconsistently from overservice to underservice was rather odd and I felt like this affected the experience. Perhaps if staff were divided into designated sections (not sure if they were) might help.
Overall, not bad. This cafe has a nice community vibe to it and would be good to take a group of people for casual dining.
Good coffee, great breakfast, lunch a bit ho hum and overpriced. Staff are friendly. Very busy on Saturday so there can be a long wait for food to arrive. Overall a nice place
Nice place for a weekend brunch. Pleasant atmosphere, child friendly, good menu and lovely staff make for a pleasant place for breakfast/lunch. The lamb wraps are great value for money and totally scrumptious.
Always enjoy Barclays - good coffee and my favourite the breakfast burger - eggs, bacon and mushies! Yum!
When this place is super busy it's not that great but mostly it's really good! Yummy food, especially breakfast!
Perfect place for any time of the day. Have been dining here for many years as my fav local eatery. You can dine here any time of the day - breakfast, lunch, morning or afternoon tea and the food is always great! My fav chai is here, the Byron bay one, its lovely and traditionally done the way chai should be done!
Absolutely delicious food and a nice atmosphere. It's always pleasantly full and is a great place to relax and chill. I wouldn't recommend it if you're in a hurry, because the staff generally aren't. But if you want a place to meet up and chat with friends, this place is perfect.
I have lived in the area for almost 8 years. I was surprised when we first discovered Barclays, having moved from the inner east, we did not expect much from a suburban cafe. Luckily, the coffee could not be better. These days we are greeted by name, and receive impeccable service week in, week out. Best. Cafe. Ever.
My girlfriend and I had the egg Benedict. Was really good. One of the best breakfast places I have been to in the eastern suburb. Coffee was good too.
Great food, coffee and service, best cafe in the east in my opinion, this is up there with good inner city suburb cafes.
Bustling, good food. Good clean cafe - lovely food and efficient friendly service
Consistently good. My partner and I have visited Barclays regularly for a few years now. We go out for breakfast most weekends and enjoy coming back here every now and then. The food is of great quality and has never disappointed. The big breakfast has everything you'd expect and 'the Roma' breakfast is a must have - turkish bread topped with chutney, fresh sliced tomato, avocado, spanish onion, spinach and holandaise sauce. Upper end price wise but worth it. Pleasant atmosphere and good coffee for the suburbs.
I love this place. Food is great and coffee is fantastic. I go there regulary and the staff are so friendly they know my coffee now!!!
Not as trendy as it used to be but on our visit the staff were friendly and the food was good.
Consistently high standard of food & service, made even better today by beautiful spring sunshine & great company!
I go out to breakfast... Allot! It's my favourite meal of the day. The omlette I had today was hands down the best I've had this year! And the chef made it specially for me with no fuss. Great staff, exquisite food, coffee was almost as good! Will travel past hundred of cafes to come here again!
Went with my girlfriends to celebrate my birthday. Food was really tasty, service was friendly and helpful. We were sitting at the back outside area and it was very cozy and pleasant. The nice touch was a little birthday muffin delivered by the owner.
Highly recommend it!
Food and coffee are great, especially the waffles. Some of their menu items have interesting flavour combinations. Is often very busy, so you are best to book ahead. Occasionally they seem short staffed, resulting in slow service. Have also experienced one or two rude staff, but the regular staff are polite, friendly and efficient.
First visit, had the bacon and eggs which was quick to arrive. Bread crust was hard to cut, but otherwise the food was very tasty. The cappuccino was ok but I found the sprinkles were a little bitter. I still very much enjoyed everything and the ambience was nice, with the quiet music and the pretty landscape pictures on the walls. My waitress was friendly as well.
15 new parking spots with 2hour parking available soon.
Great coffee.. Air conditioned for those hot days. Modern surroundings, friendly staff. We took advantage of a buy 1 coffee get one free. Food looks awesome.
