Review Chapter Too - Heathmont

KATHY O
I love going to this cafe when I’m in the area, the service is good the food delicious. Located in a nice strip of shops.
Leanne Craig
Lovely food reasonably priced. Found some of the staff not really in any sort of hurry to take your order. This poses a problem when back in offices with regulated lunch hours. Will give credit to young male waiter who you could see trying his absolute best to please customers.
Jeremy Gray
Lovely bustling breakfast and lashings of it, great attentive staff and coffee the make a trip for, definitely one of the breakfasts in the area.
Richard Thomas
Coffee here is great, get a good result seemingly no matter who makes it. The dining in atmosphere is a bit on the noisy side but otherwise quite attractive with a lovely fireplace for winter.

Had the most beautiful breakfast here. Chapter Too is a great cafe in Heathmont with an amazing menu, friendly staff and plenty of seating (indoors and covered outside too). We ordered the smashed avo, which had the most amazing mushrooms and Persian fetta. The ratio of topping to bread was great - certainly didn't skimp on the avo. We also ordered a BLT which was also beautifully cooked, filling and came with a lovely side of chips. Coffee and iced chocolate went down a treat too. Overall a lovely breakfast at a nice local spot.

Nice environment, great food and coffee but being abused by male staff member after questioning bill was unacceptable. Senior staff who witnessed his behaviour should be training him how to speak to customers. Our group members will not be returning!

We went for a family lunch to this place. The food was really good. Variety of options to choose from. Kids to adults all loved the food. The only thing that was a bit off was when asked to clean the baby chair a used cloth was given to us by the staff.. that was a bit disappointing. 😔😔. Otherwise...good food.
Natali Perera
We ordered a Mediterranean to share lunch dish which was nice! But not as good as what we hoped for! Staff was lovely though!

I would not usually leave a bad review. However today I stopped in to this cafe for a take away coffee, it was very busy so understandably the atmosphere was a little tense (I worked in cafes for 10 yrs, I get it) but there is no excuse for the rudeness of the manager towards his young staff. <br/>One poor girl was clearly trying her best and attending to as many tasks as possible only to have the ‘manager’ talk down to her and even raise his voice, to which she politely and timidly asked “have I done something wrong?” <br/>I honestly felt so bad for this young girl and just wanted to tell her DON’T LET THIS PRICK TALK TO YOU THAT WAY! If you read this (Kayla) it gets better I promise x

The venue is huge and great for groups but if you have a p[ram good luck trying to get in. We have to move tables to get through and then into the door. The drinks were nice but the food wasn't the best.

It has taken me some time to write a review of this place and seriously they do NOT even deserve 1 star but I guess I will give it because the food is OK. <br/><br/>We first went to this cafe when we just moved from Richmond to Ringwood. My then 8 year old commented when we walked in “Mum, what is wrong with that girls face?” Because the girls had a sour smirk on their faces which we were not used to coming from the city (and you’d think being suburbia they would have better manners!) I left it as they were probably having a bad day (even though it wasn’t that busy and I also knew it was because they had a chip on their shoulder) <br/>So being locals, I thought I’d try again and we’ve tried over the space of 6 years we tried to come in at different times and different days and still the same BAD SERVICE AND BAD ATTITUDE! What’s wrong with you people? At this day and age, food and coffee are much of a muchness, what separates good cafes to the great ones is CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE and experience is not what this cafe is good at. <br/>What a shame Chapter Too, had you treated us nicely, we would be there every weekend gladly giving you our money, we are foodies and we think your management should look at training your staff at THE most aspect of a cafe and that is giving your customers good service NOT ATTITUDE cos I’m sorry to say...YOU AIN’T ALL THAT! And guess what? We will tell everyone we know about our experience and karma will take care of the rest...

I came here during the week for lunch. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and quick to take our order and also quick to serve. The coffee was good, the smoothie had by my friend was reported as good too. I had the pork belly which was packed full of flavour and most of the pork had a good crackle though a few pieces were chewy and some of the pork was overdone and dry on edges. But still a tasty meal. Prices on the higher side but not too expensive.

Had coffee and cake, coffee was good but tarts were tasteless and pastry was hard. Also very noisy could do with some noise dampening. Won’t be going back.

I have been here on 2 separate occasions and very much enjoy the food. Brunch (with coffee) for 4 people comes to about $100, which is very reasonable. It's your typical Melbourne brunch. Would recommend the smashed avo dish, fritters or big brekkie.
Foodie
Very disappointing! I took my family, who were over from England, for breakfast to show them my local cafe, which they originally asked why we didn’t go to Barclays, which is a cafe we passed on the way. I wanted to take them here cause my last experience was nice; sadly I was embarrassed by my insistence. When I asked to have the ham on the side (I don’t eat meat and was going to give to my puppy) the chef refused to accommodate my outlandish request! The waitress explained that the chef would not put the ham, instead of placing it on the toast, place it next to the toast, on the same plate! What the!?!?!? I won’t be going back.

The food is pretty good & the service is generally fast, even though this place is huge. A nice spot for breakfast on the weekend. <br/>The one thing that concerns me is price, it's a little over budget for me.
Ben Seah
The coffee is great. Food is marvellous. The environment is good with friendly staff. <br/>Had brunch here, tried 3 dishes, everything came out perfect.
Dave Clarke
I would describe this cafe as 'foreboding' or 'unwelcoming', based on both the signage (ie "Please wait to be seated'), the vibe of the staff and the pricing.  There was confusion at the start as to what I was expected to do. And there was confusion at the end when I went to the counter to pay. After tapping furiously at the touch screen and asking me questions about what I had had and where I had sat (and it is noteworthy that tables were not numbered) the rather abrasive Chinese woman (presumably the manager) barked at a young Caucasian waitress to assist her at locating my bill. I would not recommend this establishment and will not be returning.

Always had a lovely meal and coffee .. great atmosphere and quick service.. been one of my regulars for a while now.. thanks guys.. always a pleasure

Got the Zeus (big brekky) and the poached eggs on smashed avo. Quality food and reasonable serve! Only complaints, and these are slight, is the customer service was a little impersonal and seemed like she didn’t want to be there and they don’t allow any meal alterations, only additions.

Came here on a Sunday for brunch and was pleasantly surprised. Chapter Too is so much bigger than any other cafe I think I’ve ever been too! It took a while to be served but once we ordered, we didn’t have to wait long for our food and drinks. The fruit toast is sooooo good 👌🏼 I also had the orange, carrot and ginger juice which was delicious and zingy! My friend had the fritters which looked and smelled amazing. Can’t wait to go back soon!

This cafe has the potential to be great.<br/><br/>Unfortunately it has missed the mark on presentation and quality of food just isn't there. They don't seem to be able to accommodate basic requests as most other cafe's can and do. It's been mentioned a fair bit in other reviews when people have asked to swap out an ingredient for another, they just don't do it here.<br/><br/>Most cafe's already have basic ingredients on hand so I fail to understand how this cafe doesn't.<br/><br/>Overall the customer service is average at best.

I called into this café for a light breakfast, I ordered toast and a cappuccino, and I was shocked by what I received, the 2 slices of sour dough toast were massive and with delicious rhubarb jam tasted fantastic, the coffee was very nice, and I was pleased to be able to read the morning paper whilst having my breakfast, it was a very positive dining experience 10/10 would recommend this café to anyone
The Biker Foodie
Good service and friendly staff. Interior decor ok. Only ordered a milkshake (40 degree day) but it hit the spot. Will come back and have a brekky or lunch
Barley And Hops
A better than average cafe for heathmont but nothing particularly special. Food was ok and smoothies were really bad. Their beer list is also rubbish. Atmosphere is fairly good.
Mrs Lavender
Came here today for brunch . We had the share breaky plate and a special bruschetta .love the grill haloumi cheese , it's delicious. Coffee was good . A popular cafe in the area .
Michelle
A semi-regular favourite when we're in the area. Chapter Too is big and has a good brunch menu. The food on offer here isn't pushing the envelope, but they do their burgers, eggs and coffee well. The shared brunch platter is worth the spend to split over coffee and the paper. Service can be a little slow and inattentive but it's not actively bad.
Adam's Rib
Spacious, good service and nice coffee. Had the I am Maximus for brekky. The bacon was delicious and the homemade hash brown beautiful; in fact everything on the plate tasted great. Nothing to complain about.
SuzLovesFood
A very big, well appointed cafe in Heathmont. Great decor. Clean amenities. Good seating options and an open fire place which was very inviting on a cold Melbourne morning. <br/>Hubby and I stopped for breakfast here and we were not disappointed. I had the omega fix with an added house made hash brown. Great flavours and very large servings. My coffee was enjoyable however it was perhaps a bit on the cold side. <br/>The staff were not engaging at all but they cannot be faulted for not doing their job. They served us and cleared our tables promptly.
Gina
A roomy restaurant with good service.<br/>I've been here with large groups as well.<br/>They managed our group of 27 with no problem and were happy to let us pay separately. Thank you Chapter Too.<br/>The food was mostly good. My potato and leek soup was a bit bland but other meals were great.
Steph Eddy
Food was sensational! I had the Reuben! I was fully satisfied perfect blend of flavours, presentation, amount of food! I wouldn't have changed a thing! <br/>The staff weren't overly friendly, they were nice but nothing above and beyond the atmosphere was good not too crowded or loud and there were options for some seating in the sunshine! Beautiful lunch experience :-)

Decided to randomly go out for brunch, and picked chapter too . Unfortunately due to poor service and awful coffee we didn't even attempt for food . The first waiter was new and didn't know an answer to a question (which is absolutely fine, he was a very polite young man) and excused himself to get another waiter to assist. The waitress came by with an " I'm over it " attitude . I asked if I could swap put the sour dough for brioche as I don't particularly like sourdough . Instead of telling me they don't vary anything on the menu, she blatantly lied and said "we don't have any other bread ". I then asked how the burgers and French toast on the menu was done with brioche bread if they didn't have any. She replied gluten free bread or sourdough is all that we have . So we decided to just get a cold drip coffee which was just an over extracted double shot over ice and was awful . The cappuccino was average . Service all round was slow and uninviting . Maybe educate the staff a little more on service, I understand if a place won't change a dish and that's fine as I'm happy to eat around it but don't lie to your customers that's just rude.
Good Food Good Mood
Caught up with some friends locally for breakfast at Chapter Too and I was pleasantly surprised. There was not the usual Richmond/South Yarra decor of hipster minimalism with plants but the food wasn't half bad. My partner and I ordered the sharing board which for $39 got you eggs your way with smashed avo, Persian feta, fried tomato, haloumi, hash browns with sourdough and sourdough fruit loaf with honey labne. Amazing. There was also some Bircher on there but that was sickly sweet. I was annoyed at their refusal to allow for variations however given the board came with chipolatas and we wanted a vegetarian option. Pretty insensitive to those who don't eat meat or might not eat that type of meat for religious reasons. Could have easily swapped it for more hash browns rather than just removing it from the dish. Service was also a little slow but I will say I enjoyed what I ate and next time I'm in the mood for variety I must just return for that board. After all sharing is caring
Sal
I find this place a bit hit and miss. Eat in is okay but the last few times I've taken food and coffee away they have messed up my order. <br/><br/>
Mi55Bee
Find the food and coffee good with variety of options on the menu. We ordered 3 godfather and a vego option and it costs us $111 with a coffee each. Nearly $27 for a breakfast!! Not cheap compared to those hippy joints near the city #flyawaymoney
The Domestic Traveller
I was introduced to Chapter Too on a whim. I had a friend recommend it and said I HAD to go there. Especially for their breakfast menu. So when he was back in town with another good pal – the adventure began!. Consumed: Sharing is Caring. Drank: Long Black Coffee. Heathmont is a nice suburb in the outer east. The interesting thing, is that it also holds a lot of hidden gems – and there will be quite a few that I will be sharing in the coming months. So keep your eyes peeled for it!

Great place to visit for a light meal. Delicious food made with quality ingredients. Service is always prompt. It's a little on the pricey side though.
The Brunch Club
When you're paying $18 for a smashed avocado you atleast expect 2 pieces of bread and 2 eggs. Not one of each.<br/>I'd like to say goodbye to my house deposit with a full stomach, thank you!
Jayne Hill
Very disappointed the wait staff advised that the chef was very picky and would not substitute poached eggs for scrambled for my pregnant friend. That ruled out 95% of the breakfast menu.
Suzie Miller
Quite possibly the worst meal I have ever been served. For one, it's incredibly over priced. The $12 shoe string fries would have tasted better from McDonalds and I would have only paid $5 for the same amount. When I asked the waitress why the two MEN at the table behind me had thick cut chips, she said they're available on the kids menu. I asked if I could order them as well but she said only children can ?? Why did the men have them I do not know. Secondly, my friend ordered eggs benedict. The poached eggs were raw and the side of bacon wasn't cooked. Lastly, the squid had no flavour - actually it had one, plastic. I'm sorry but this is not okay. Would have gone to village food store if it wasn't closed.
Mic
Unaccommodating, could not switch rye for sourdough #NotHard. Took forever for our order to be taken when it was not even busy. Prices are out of control. Most expensive breakfast I've had. Weak coffee.
GoodFood4Me
My friends and I arrived here at 1:10 for lunch and after 25 minutes, left, because we were sick of waiting for wait staff to take our orders. It was not very busy and there were four wait staff. No excuse so no patronage. We went to the new Jamaican Blue cafe in Eastland instead and finished up at the delightful Cupcake Central.<br/>We were also not impressed with the menu as there was little choice. No sweet options for the all day breakfast either. Strictly no alterations to the menu allowed and no split bills. Won't bother going back.
Shoo Shoo
So I've only been here a handful of times and only during the week on school holidays. The cafe itself is cosy even though it's a big space. Today they had the fireplace going which is pretty cool. It fills up by lunchtime, but doesn't get overly noisy. The last time I was there it was pram city, however there was plenty of space to get passed.<br/><br/>The menu probably doesn't excite me. For one, there's no sweet breakfast option. How can they torture me like that?! It meant today I had to go scrambled eggs with avocado *sigh*...so savory.<br/><br/>My food was nice. No complaints. My coffee was ok too. I'd visit again if I need a meeting place in the area, but it's not a cafe I crave to go back to. They used to make the absolute best scones ever but it's been scraped from the menu - I actually would come back just for them.

Honestly the WORST customer experience i have ever had in my life!<br/>i went a year ago and enoyed the food, but when i went back again on Saturday the 25th of June, i had to walk out after coffee due to the rudeness of the staff. <br/>I would never ever go to this place again, as i was appauled and distressed by how the staff made my friend and i  feel. <br/><br/>DO NOT GO HERE, hands down worst cafe experience of my life!
Mike
I came here yesterday for a birthday lunch not knowing this cafe existed. What an absolute delight it was. The coffee was sensational and The Reuben Sandwich was a treat. Will be coming back here for sure!
Mark Higgins
Coffee is good here and breakfast is average and nothing to write home about. Prices are high and service is very below par. Expect to feel rushed when they are busy and the slightest variety ie not having the egg placed on the toast is not allowed. We were informed this small change could not be accommodated. Lots of people like this place and it is ok but I am unlikely to go back especially with new competition nearby.
Lily_Lieu
Nice breakfast options but the real winner here are the chips, which you unfortunately cannot get until after 12pm. They are fat, crunchy and delicious! All meal sizes are large and the eggs are always cooked perfectly. Ask for your Chai Latte strong and it will be just right.
BGfood
Great food and pretty good coffee. I'm a big fan of this place out in the suburbs. The food is always ready super quick. I don't think I have waited longer than 10 minutes but it's usually 3-5. The quality is great, and the service is friendly. The chefs aren't a fan of alterations to the menu though, it always seems to be a hassle. Overall good experience though.
Mistermister
Nice venue. Liked the decor. The food was good. Average at best. But still nice. Nothing mind blowing. Service could have been better. Maybe a little eye contact. A toilet update would be good.
Aishah Mustapha
Used to dine here occasionally but our last experience was bad. The waitresses were so unfriendly. Asked to switch baby chair and she just thumped it down far away from the table without a word and walked away! There were at least 3 waitresses standing and talking by themselves too at that time. It has put me off completely and I won't be going back. It has lost that warm nice cafe vibe.
Sarah Lim
Cafe was very spacious and great for kids n bubs. Staff were warm n friendly. Kids were offered coloring books. We were there on a Sat afternoon and the cafe was pretty empty.<br/>Food portions were big and generous. We tried the Rueben and Admiral. Food was okay, nothing wow. Loved my herbal chips & iced chocolate tho!
Molly
Mostly good, the shared breakfast is probably the best thing they offer. It was better before they changed it. <br/><br/>The staff can be a bit hit and miss with there service. <br/><br/>Once received a flat Coke with a hair in it.
Beini
Who knew that there could be decent brunch in Heathmont? I didn't, that's for sure. Chapter Too seems pretty unassuming from the outside, just on a normal suburban shopping strip. However, once you step inside, the funky decor and light fixtures adumbrates a pleasant brunch to be had. Book covers were painted white and and black eagles were painted on top. I don't know what that symbolises exactly, but it sure looked cool.
Torie Ryan
Popped in for brekky this morning with our pooch.<br/>They provided a bowl of water for her (proper dog bowl) which was lovely.<br/>Food there is delicious however, it would be great if they could cater a little more to the vegetarian and vegan crowd, as there are so few places in the outer Eastern suburbs that do (without having to drive to Belgrave). Not asking for a whole menu, just a few things to choose from. <br/>My vegan husband ended up having avocado and spinach on toast (suggested by the waitress) as the mushrooms were cooked in butter.<br/>Service was lovely, coffee was great.
Emma
Provided me with a vegan option when there was nothing to choose from on the menu. I very much appreciated it. The coffee is also very good.
"JT" Jeffrie Trika
Well run and spacious Cafe with ample parking space.<br/><br/>Very warmly set up inside, hence why black signage outside?<br/><br/>On the spectrum of Specialty Coffee their coffee is average and good.<br/><br/>Very pleasant and friendly service from the team there.<br/><br/>Great work!
Peter Laskovsky
Great food! Great service. Food can take a little time but that can be expected when its always packed. Going to have my engagement party here. Quality of food is so consistent been coming weekly for 3+ years since it opened. I would recommend the salad they do which name changes slightly depending on the seasonal produce in it as a guy i don't usually order any salads anywhere but love this one worth trying with the poached egg on top. Barista knows his stuff too!
Feed Me
Business meetings call for business lunch. The meals exceeded our expectations. <br/><br/>Food Ordered:<br/>The Makanek - exactly what I was craving. A Lebanese style meal, generous portion of sausages, fried egg, labne and Beetroot relish. I do wish there labne was a bit lighter and there was more Lebanese bread, but all up great value and flavour. Considering it was $20 meal and met its price well. My friend ordered a chicken salad and was loving it. Tender chicken and great flavours. <br/><br/>Ambience:<br/>A very large layout with ample seating and a full bar available. A bit outdated when compared to many city cafes. But a good fit for this suburban area. <br/><br/>Overall a good experience and a great food spot
Mark Wigg
Late breakfast this morning with most other cafes in the area closed over Christmas. We both had the Godfather Pt II (given the rest of the attempts on the menu this should be Part Too?) which was okay. Two slices of sourdough is simply too much and the bacon could have used too more minutes on the grill. Service was great despite the busyness. All together not too bad, but not great.
Amber Wilson
Chapter Too has such promise but rarely delivers. I live across the road and so have the opportunity to go there often, but ive stopped going. The place is so loud, its hard to get a table, the service is at best ordinary, and the food just isnt that good. $17 for 2 small crepes is terrible value, and dont get me started on a simple breakfast of eggs on toast with a few sides. Its easy for it to come to over $20 which is getting ridiculous. Whilst its not as trendy i would head down the road to Barclays; Food is better and more generous & staff are more welcoming.
Josie
I love this place. The food is always good, they attend to my needs. The staff are always friendly and it makes the service great. The location is easy to get to and it's a nice quick drive from home with lots of parking. The bacon is definitely my favourite with lots of flavour! The coffee is really good too. I love coming here.
Timothy Joseph Miller
Not a great first experience. Unwilling to give me a fried egg rather than poached with the menu item I wanted; so instead I ordered bacon & hash-brown as extras on top of eggs on toast, I wanted more but at $4 an extra! & without a big breakfast option I only got a couple.<br/><br/>When It arrived I was certainly disappointed. Only one piece of toast under my eggs, bacon had absolutely no flavor, it didn't even taste like bacon. And the hash brown was also tasteless and uninspired, no seasoning on anything.<br/><br/>Coffee was good; but I wouldn't go back.
Melbourne Foodie Lover
Have to say I'm not that impressed with chapter too, how can u charge someone so much for extras when there tiny little portions when they come out, coffee was okay but it was nothing to rave about, service needs to be vastly improved because it's not that good at the moment
The Other Jess Tuck
Big fan of my local. Always a solid breakfast and a recently changed menu which is definitely promising to deliver. Always a few sneaky specials to tickle your fancy, and everyone loves a good pun in a menu item name.<br/> <br/>Delicious, smooth coffee and the cold drip is my personal favourite, even on those cold winter days. <br/><br/>Had the Omega fix on the weekend with rye & smoked salmon and that was brilliant. Was a big fan of the man(lady)wich as well so hope to see that back on the menu soon. Give it a try!
Ches
This cafe used to have good food and friendly service but sadly everything seems to have changed. The coffee isn't very consistent and for the price you pay it's just not worth the risk. I understand they may have a policy of not changing any menu items (which is ridiculous already anyway), but I couldn't even change the type of eggs I wanted in my breakfast despite being pregnant and not being able to have runny eggs! Even when I explained this to the waitress she was rude and adamant that they don't make any changes. Then when we got our meals my husband's egg white wasn't cooked and the Turkish bread that was meant to come with my meal was a store bought type of bread that was soggy and disgusting. We should've left when the waitress was rude to me but I was so hungry that we decided to stay and I'm so disappointed that we did. I would've given them feedback in person first but they were so rude when we paid that I just wanted to leave before I started to cry. I used to work in hospitality and the service and food here is horrendous. Totally unacceptable and not worth your time.
Gastronomicon
J and I stopped here for lunch. I ordered a mug of chai latte, which was standard fare and not too sweet. Jason's thick shake was a nice surprise - actually thick American style milkshake with more ice cream than milk.<br/><br/>I had their pork belly. It turned out really nice and crispy at first but reduced to tough bits at the end of the meal as the sauces drench the crispy skin. The salad and sweet sesame dressing on top was a nice complement to the Asian flavour. <br/><br/>J's burger was deemed "OK" by him. The fries were fantastic, I had a bite and decided I'd return for the fries and shake if nothing else!<br/><br/>Good ambiance for family meals, open and uncluttered with decent service.
Hannah T
Big open cafe with staff that are usually pretty helpful. We were able to have a meeting there for 12 adults for breakfast. Food was good & coffee is always consistent here.
Erin Surplice
Very friendly local cafe! Great place for breaky and or coffee. Friendly staff are always welcoming! Plenty of room and facilities for prams and changing nappies. Beautiful outdoor (smoke free) undercover eating area. I find the food a little bit over priced but overshadowed but all the good :)
Zoe Higgins
This place is okay.<br/><br/>The first time we went was great. I went with my family and staff were very accommodating for my brother who couldn't eat gluten, food was fast and relatively well priced. I had the baked eggs and they were great. <br/><br/>However, when I returned with my friend about six weeks later (keep in mind these were both Saturday mornings so I know they are capable of handling rush times), we had a few problems. I booked a table for two and when we arrived we had to wait about five minutes to be told to sit down at a table. The waitress didn't come with us, she simply pointed to the back table. Another five or so minutes passed and we weren't given menus so I decided to go find them myself. When I got up and asked a waitress she said she'd bring them to us (which was nice) but proceeded to accuse us of sitting at the wrong table because that one was reserved and we should've waited for somebody to seat us. We explained it was our table and that was fine but I suppose that demonstrates that the first waitress had done the wrong thing by just pointing us to a table. We had to wait again for a while to make our order. And significantly longer for our food to arrive even though I ordered the same thing as last time. I found this interesting because last time they were able to bring our six dishes out rather quickly. Unfortunately, the baked eggs were over cooked this time, and though it was still nice, I was a little disappointed after my first good experience. <br/><br/>After we ate, we chatted for about another half hour, waiting for our plates to be cleared and to order coffee and maybe a cake. This never happened so we just paid and left.<br/><br/>I think the main problem is customer service here. The food is actually quite decent. It might be worth hiring more people for rush times on Saturday mornings, or training the people they have so that they are more attentive because at the moment I can guarantee that they are losing those few extra sales. <br/><br/>I will certainly try again at some stage and I hope I am able to change my review because I really want to like this place, the menu is more interesting than Barclays and I haven't tried their lunch yet!
Stu G
Popped in with a mate for a coffee and some study. Coffee was okay but a little pricey and the service was quite slow despite being rather quiet at the time. Will need to lift their game as there are some other great options in the area now.
Hayley
Cannot say I was overly impressed with this place. Not only was the service extremely slow and waiters very uninterested, the food was enormously overpriced. I ordered poached eggs on one slice of toast, which cost me around $15. My friend ordered the equivalent to eggs Benedict with salmon and tomato which cost her $30!!! Couldn't believe it. Will definitely not return.
Isobel
Be careful if you decide to eat there! My mum and her friend ate the chicken and Brie cheese focaccia and both had food poisoning from it. Eat at own risk.
Jessica Scott
Very rude staff <br/>Not accomodating meal changes and waitress VERY rude whilst we were paying, rolling her eyes and refusing to split payments when they WERE NOT busy. <br/>Needless to say we won't be returning and will be telling our friends about our experience
VegieGirl
I will never come back! My friends and I came here and before our visit we called up to check if there were vegan options and gluten free options and we were told that it wouldn't be a problem. I ordered the smashed avo with mushrooms and asked to remove the egg and fetta and replace it with spinach and tomato. I was told that I was not allowed to change menu items, & that they can remove the egg and fetta but I would have to pay extra for the tomato and spinach ($4 each)! This would have made my total meal $26 which is ridiculous for smashed avo on toast! I told the waitress that I thought that was a bit unfair and she said "sorry, but it's the policy". When my smashed avocado dish came out, it consisted of one piece of sourdough bread, smashed avocado thinly spread accross the bread and about 4 small mushrooms on top - and that cost me $18! I guess you can get away with charging exorbitant amounts of money for miniscule amounts of food when you don't have many competitors around. This, coupled with their attitude towards customer service would never allow them to survive in an inner city suburb. Disgusted!
Lyn
Always nice food but I don't understand why they won't make very simple changes requested! Like having a slice of cheese on my vegi burger.
Will Meier
This was the worse coffee and service I have ever received in a café. My coffee was burnt so I had it sent back and asked for it to be taken off the bill. After clarifying with 'the boss', the waitress told me that 'there is actually a difference between the coffee being burnt and not liking it' and that they could only replace it with another drink, and should it be more expensive, I would have to pay the difference. Very ordinary food, very understaffed and overpriced for the area. They had more staff behind the bar making substandard drinks than they did on the floor. Laughable. Save your money and go to Barclay's down the road.
Allibelli
First time visit for coffee only today...lovely setting & gas fire. Coffee was great & staff really friendly & attentive. Will be back to try food next time!
TOT: HOT OR NOT
I don’t get out to the Outer East suburbs very much but when I went visiting it was great to discover a local child-friendly cafe in Heathmont called Chapter Too. The cafe was spacious with plenty of room for prams as well as numerous high chairs. As we had booked they had already set us up on a big spacious table by the window and set out plastic cups for the kids. The window is prime position as the space is cavernous so I imagine it can feel a bit lonely up the back – though there is a neat wall cladding made with books and a mural of bird and trees.

I generally love my visits to Chapter Too. Great coffee and a pretty good menu. But the last couple of times I've visited I've found that the staff seem really unobservant. We had a table of four yesterday and we had to ask for menus after sitting for about 10 minutes, then I had to flag someone down to take our orders. Once our meals arrived that was it. The waitresses never cleared our plates, or return to ask if we were interested in another round of coffees. I just think that the floor staff need a little more direction and training.

Coffee here is hit and miss. It's okay if the barista is having a good day. <br/>Service is really inconsistent. Weekend staff never appear to be able to handle the large crowds. It's strange because it is the same staff working each weekend and the place is always busy so this shouldn't come as a shock to them. <br/><br/>Food is good. Really good. <br/>The share plate breakfast for two is huge and delicious. <br/>The "Too corn fritters" are amazing and I usually order these. This is also the reason I keep coming back. <br/>Mostly I have breakfast here and have never been disappointed.

Love the food, but terrible customer service. Waitresses just ignored us. Would much rather go to Barclays.

Go Elsewhere. Rude and untrained staff who don't care about giving any customer service what so ever.<br/>My 10 y/o ordered the Ham and cheese pizza from the children's menu and asked for pineapple as an extra the waitress told us they don't alter their menu.<br/>I explained to the waitress that i hardly thought this was difficult or unreasonable request and asked her to tell the chef to drop some pineapple pieces on top, i felt the waitress understood this and would deliver on the request.<br/>Well there was no pineapple so i approached the chef and asked him if he could sprinkle some pieces on top.<br/>He responded with "didn't you listen to the waitress, we don't alter menu's"<br/>When i spoke with the manager on leaving he told me i should go to Pizza Hutt next time.<br/>I have never been to a place like this in my life and i can only hope residents in the area refuse to dine here as there are other places more accommodating.

Worst. Service. Ever. This is the worst customer service I have experienced, waited to be served for 10 minutes asked two staff members to take our order before somebody actually did take our order. Rude staff. Food was average. Prices average. Wouldn't go back

Not the friendliest bunch. Staff were rude at times, One nice one but unfortunately the others left a more lasting impression. Coffee was really good, but the food was not worth the big price tag at all!!

I love the shared breakfast platter and the coffee is always delicious. Depending on what staff are working determines how long you wait for anything, or even how much communication is given.<br/><br/>The shared breakfast platter has equal servings of fruit toast, plain toast, avocado, fetta, roast tomatos, eggs of your choosing, chorizo and the bircher museli. I like that the portion sizings are small enough to have a bit of everything, especially when you cannot decide what you want to eat!

Disappointed in chef's attitude. Have had an occasional breakfast here when Barclays is full and on a number of occasions have requested a change in one menu item from poached to scrambled due to pregnancy. This has always been accommodated. Today with only two people in the cafe and 4 staff the lovely waitress had to explain that the cook would not change the menu at All! In fact when asked politely he saw fit to remind us that he would not change the menu but queried our knowledge of what could be eaten in pregnancy! Luckily Heathmont village has 4 other cafes and we crossed the road to FoodCoffeeFriends which was buzzing with customers, locals coming in for coffees and though busy they were able to make the change with a smile ... and it was a few dollars cheaper.

So so rude. The rudest experience I've ever had in a cafe. Food was yummy. Experience ruined that good memory though.<br/>They treated our group with such disrespect, I will never go back. They got $300 out of us and couldn't wait to get us out the door.<br/>The waiter forgets anything you ask him to do (a few times i've visited), and then when you're standing out the front after you've paid having a chat with friends, you hear the staff bitching about you to other customers. Then upon bringing it to their attention that you're standing right there and it was so nice to hear their bitch sesh, they back peddle and act like they were complimenting you. hah! They just lost 12 people's custom and all the people they will tell.

Too unorganized. It s me again.<br/>I ve just been given and taken away my fritter because they don't even knpw which customer put in order first. They put it down in front of me and said will grab me cutlery (yes, not even given cutlery), but instead giving me the cutlery, she took the food away from me and said my order has not actually gone through yet and yet i have been sitting here 30 mins now.<br/>Great chapter too<br/><br/><br/>-----28 Mar, 2015-----<br/><br/>Be more organized?. I am sitting here for 20 mins<br/>I asked for putting in order 10 mins ago when i got told to wait. There seems enough staffs and maybe they have to be more organized?

Great Atmosphere, but special dietary requirements a bit awkward. Really great atmosphere and location. Always enjoy watching the barista make a takeaway coffee here and love to have a quick read of the paper at the communal table. I would love it if the dine-in experience was also as good. Presentation of the food is fine, however special dietary requirements are not well catered for and discussions about the menu and ingredients with the staff are awkward and sometimes contradictory. It would be great if the staff could be trained in dietary issues and there was a bit more flexibility with the menu.

I went here a week ago with a friend and was massively disappointed with my experience. Staff were too busy talking about their social life to even notice or care about customers at the door waiting to be seated, they even stated so in their conversation. I ordered a soy latte and an espresso in their single origin, the waitress obviously had no clue or knowledge about coffee because she messed up the order and I was served a single origin soy latte. I then ordered another espresso about 4 times before I actually received one, which was luke warm, watery, and completely undrinkable. Food was alright but nothing special for the price. As a barista myself I know a lot about hospitality and have worked in it for years. Chapter Too is definitely a waste of time and money for a cafe who puts in no effort with customers and their service! I will never go back and would rather spend my money on a cafe that deserves it.

I'm still going there. Still a great experience. Great food and coffee. Good to see the owners mingling and smiling on such a busy Sunday. Such speedy service<br/>I love this place, they make me feel at home

Excited to reveal my newly gifted Kitchen Aid in all its shiny red form… Can’t wait to start baking more with this! But baby steps first, I made sticky lemon cinnamon scrolls – super easy with all the mixing and kneading completed in one bowl. Instagram obsessions lead to delicious things – such as these delicious matcha chocolates delivered in a box by sweetoothau. Rich chocolate ganache (you can choose your intensity) covered in an intense green tea powder. Weekend lunch at humburger in hawthor for juicy burgers in a sesame seed bun. Paprika fries and a juicy firm burger hit the spot – and my body thanks you for the lack of greasiness. Welcome back sunshine! You have been missed. To make the most of it, post-1000 steps treat at Burnham Beeches. Goose egg sponge cake gave an intense yellow colour to dessert, though flavour wise I couldn’t taste the difference. Immediate food envy from all the tables nearby indulging in afternoon tea. Think I might need to do a few more sessions up and

Limited menu and over priced. Don't go expecting a lot to choose from on the menu or a reasonably priced meal. Its over priced for the amount of food you receive and not a lot to choose from. Its very busy and you need to book. Service is slow and waitresses could be friendlier. Check your cutlery for cleanliness as well

Chapter Too is great little treasure with the traditional melbourne cafe feel in the outer suburbs my partner and I had the Share Breakfast on a serving board it was delicious with a nicely chilled iced coffee, and every meal that left the pass looked amazing a massive thumbs up from me

I even tipped (& I NEVER tip lol). We were greeted and seated straight away. Another waitress appeared shortly after with menus and water (showing great initiative bringing a plastic cup for my 4yo daughter without it being requested). With a perfect pause to let us review the menu, a waitress approached to take our order. I mentioned that we had an appointment to get to, so only had 30minutes to eat. She assured me meals would be served in 5-6 minutes. I was skeptical, but after a quick trip to the bathroom we returned to find my daughter's lunch waiting for us. 3 mini-pancakes with a single serve tub of delicious ice cream. "We" (I) had discussed that we should request a spoon to help eat the pancakes, however it had already been brought out with the meal. We finished our meals in perfect time (I had a beautiful calamari salad) and settled our bill. The waitress overheard us discussing where the chef was, so she invited my daughter around to the kitchen door to say thanks for her meal. I am so glad I didn't read any of the recent reviews I just glimpsed, otherwise we may have missed out on a great experience. Thanks very much!

Horrible service. Today I attended Chapter Too. My friend and I had to wait for at least 20 minutes to be given a menu, and then another 20 minutes to take our orders. I had to ask the wait staff to take our orders. There were 5 wait staff on, and they were all standing around doing nothing, joking with eachother. The food was good but won't be coming back due to the horrible service. We weren't asked once how our meals were going and they took at least 25 mins to collect our empty plates after we had eaten.

Rude customer service. After not dining at Chapter Too for awhile I thought I would meet up with a friend for lunch and coffee. I always enjoyed eating the start up salad however this time the lack of effort in preparing the salad was disappointing. My friend had an issue with the taste of her coffee. She couldn't quite put her finger on what but the milk just didn't seem right to her. The waitress was surprised and did nothing to make my friend a happier customer. She said she would tell the barista. When went to pay we asked about the coffee situation and he was extremely rude and suggested there could be nothing wrong with the coffee. we also overheard a lady next to us complain and he treated her the same way about her issue...due to the lack of customer service we will not be returning and will not recommend to anyone...disappointed

Don't call me love. Rather than wait to be seated, we sat ourselves at a table outside during a quiet period with our pup. I went inside to order our coffees, money in hand. I was asked "have here or take away?", to which I responded "have here, we're just seated at that table outside the window", the guy taking the order, whom I believe may be the manager was incredibly rude and responded with "it's table service, love!", he wouldn't take my money and insisted I return to the table and wait to be served. Dumb. Inefficient. Rude. Patronising. No idea about customer service. Won't be back.

Average. Really nice atmosphere and location, but found service and food to be average. Also found the owner to be incredibly rude when trying to talk to him, and arrogant in suggesting that everything they did was always excellent.

Too Many Chances - Disappointed.. I've found that the food quality and service at Chapter Too has taken a nosedive.<br/><br/>The last time my partner and I went I ordered scrambled eggs and they were so running and "clag-like" that I had to send it back twice.<br/><br/>Today I went for lunch with some friends.<br/><br/>I am currently 22 weeks pregnant and also a Coeliac, what a wonderful combination!<br/><br/>The waitress was not helpful at all and I was left with very options on the menu. After finding out that the first 5 choices I wanted weren't possible to be made gluten free (not uncommon) she came back and said oh you can have a beef burger on gluten free bread but no chips, she had just told the fries were gluten free so I asked if that could be an alternative, she was blunt and said no straight away and said I would have to order a $12 bowl of fries instead, on top of the $19 burger (without chips). There was no flexibility or understanding.<br/><br/>My friend ordered a rissole burger type thing which he said also tasted bland.<br/><br/>Won't be going back again.

Whoa $5 coffee-a tad overpriced!!!!. Granted the coffee was good but at $5 that's the most expensive coffee in Melbourne.<br/>There are other places around here that do as good coffee for less.<br/>I really hope the management listen to their customers as you might start losing them if you keep increasing your prices.
Simon From Heathmont
Such Breakfasts. Not the cheapest place going around, but, I have loved everything I have ever eaten here.

Pricey good food. This is a large roomy cafe with plenty of seating, a good atmosphere, quick service and lots of tasty food options, but very expensive for the food you get. We ordered the felafel platter and the Vegie patty with salad. There were only 3 small-medium size felafels with some hummus, beetroot relish, lettuce leaves, tomato slices and a piece of Lebanese bread for $17! It was a similar price for the Vegie patty with salad on top. The rest of the menu was similar if not more expensive prices for burgers and the like. We also tried the lemon and raspberry tart for dessert. This was lovely. If price is of no concern to you and you want a decent lunch with friends, this is a great place to come. If you want a good feed for a good price, there are plenty of other options around.
Thirsty
$4 for a coffee!!!. Enough said.

Love this place! The breakfast is always spot on. My boyfriend and I got the big breakfast to share (with added bacon) and it was to die for! It's hard to find a decent breakfast in the Eastern Suburbs but Chapter Too has something for everyone.
