Review Yang Yang Noodle & Dumpling - Heathmont

Alex olivier
Pretty average food, chewy beef, bland sauce, warm can of coke... sort of cheap? If 15$ is cheap for lunch (14.50 for chilli beef, rice and can) bit hard to eat tho, not very user friendly... will be trying somewhere else next time, thanks anyway

Food is good but apparently vinegar and chilli oil is precious commodity equivalent to gold? Ordered $62 worth of takeaway, nothing was provided so I asked for a 2nd serving of vinegar and chilli oil as the miniscule takeaway minitubs are filled to the quarter mark. Charming lady behind the counter told me I had not ordered enough dumplings so the most I deserved was another vinegar. Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode, except "No chilli for you!" If the chilli distribution formula is one per every serve of 25 dumplings + 2 main noodle dishes, then you'd better be prepared to bring in your own chilli if you plan to dine in...no joke! Disappointing nevertheless, considering I ordered as many times as possible during the 2020 lockdown to support this local business.

Always enjoy dining in or takeaway here. Great value and the dumplings are always delicious 😋

Tried the salt and pepper tofu for dine in lunch today and it was delicious. One of the best I have ever had. Service was very friendly and the food came quickly and was so fresh. And it was a fabulously big portion of tofu (no stingy portions of protein here). Just walked in on a whim for the first time, and I loved the quiet smaller ambience of the place. Will be back for dine in or takeaway. Thank you guys (m’goi sai) :-)

Foods great. Shame the white dishes are so expensive like lemon and honey chicken. But the authentic Chinese food is well priced and bloody amazing. I love it
Nancy Robinson
Super fast service and always delicious, salt and pepper chicken ribs my favourite !!
anu kailash
The steamed veg dumplings are to die for! Mapo Tofu could have had more flavour but was fresh and served with rice. Veg noddles and variety of mushrooms. Huge quantities and very reasonably priced.
Katie Gaut
Very large portions, well priced. Spring onion pancake clearly homemade. Takeaway frozen dumplings a great price too! Looking forward to trying more from the menu.

basic atmosphere, sweet smiley staff, and yummy food. each order was a large portion meaning great value for money - simple food done well!!
not a fine dining experience but delicious dishes and a nice evening out with a full tummy.

We’ve been getting take away from here for a few years now. The food has always been reliable, tasty, good sized serves and we don’t feel ill from an overload of msg. Restaurant Itself is basic with quite a few tables. Dining in is very average and quite offputting as we went at lunch time and could smell the strong scent of cigarette- probably from staff smoking out the back. Plus as it was quiet the staff were sitting at one the tables having a chat. Also could see a fairly chaotic kitchen and they use microwaves a lot but the final product you get is still good. We like the dumplings, Indonesian fried rice, beef black bean and honey/lemon chicken. Tried other random things too and all are nice.

Basic and delicious. You get what you pay for here. It’s a basic AF restaurant with average service. The food is better than a food court and cheap as chips. Would definitely recommend for a cheap feed out. The bottle shop next door is convenient.

Been here for the 1st time sunday night for a family dinner. My son been here a lots of times and always talking about the amazing dumplings they make so finally we had a long drive to check them out. We live in the west suburbs. The trip worth it the family loved that and me as well. Sorry no photos we where too hungry to take it lol. Amazing dumpling from the vegetarian to the beef and pork really yummy. Thank you very much.

DUMPLINGS! i have tasted all the dumplings on their menu and they are all yummy!

This is a regular local lunch spot for me and my work mates. They sure do fill you up.
Cat Hall
ordered thru uber eat, food was horrible. the lemon chicken sauces was highlighter yellow and it was so artificial!! chilli beef is not spicy at all ; fried noddles was so oily, will never go there again
Mick
It’s worth the visit if you can get past the ordinary service expected at most good dumplings restaurants.
We come here all the time with friends and kids and it’s always fast, tasty and child friendly.
Fried pork and chicken and prawn dumplings highly recommended.
Zest_of_life
My mate and i catch up here every now and then for some cheap n tasty chinese. The fried pork dumplings and hot n sour soup are both great. Casual chinese dining done right.
Kait
The food is okay, mediocre at best. The dumplings are probably the only highlight. The staff are also usually quite rude and short, which puts a bit of a damper on the dining experience as a whole. Hygiene is unacceptable, I watched the owner rinse my used bowl with cold water and place it back onto the table for the next service. I can't imagine what the kitchen hygiene is like. Yucko. After seeing that I will not be going back.
Marley
Love the food here!! Vegetarian fried noodles and the dumplings are yummy! Unfortunately they have poor customer service over the phone and in person.
Ajnan65
The dumplings were actually quite good [steamed and fried], as was the fried rice. Chilli jam excellent. Better than some of the joints i have tried around Box Hill. But the service is a mystery. I would have gone back, but spent half the night awake, which suggests MSG overload. No proof, but normally I sleep like a log.
Meg Matthews
Dropped in for to satisfy a late afternoon dumpling craving. Had steamed pork dumplings, prawn n pork wontons and pan fried chicken n prawn dumplings. All really good all for good price if $28.
Brookey
Absolutley love the food, especially the dumplings.
Chicken and prawn fried - highly recommend.
Every time I come here I order a batch for take home aswell ! Hahah
Only thing I can say it sometimes the service is a bit off and not so great. But worth it for the food 😇🥘🍚🍘
Dom Impiombato
One of best in the south east, didnt plan on reviewing as i got the dumplings take away and its unfair to review based on that, but, still fantastic take away, can only imagine eating in. Well done
Kathy Gail
Absolutely love their dumplings, fried rice & sweet and sour chicken. Eating in is always a bit hard as the service isn't great and it's way too loud but the food is worth it!
Rebecca Dimovski
Aside from the odd service, the food is delicious and it's our new regular when I'm out east side. The thai fried rice is spectacular and always go back for more
Sian Pietsch
I ordered take away from here on a Sunday at 3pm. The kid that was serving ruined my experience right from the start with the worst customer service imaginable. Terrible on the phone, terrible in person. Food was also terrible. There was maybe 6 pieces of vegetables in the whole dish and most of the container was full with just liquid. These people should be ashamed!
Josh Mackwell
Best Dumplings in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne, my personal preference is the Pork Steamed Dumplings mixed with a heap of their legendary Chilli Jam!
The only downfall of the restaurant is their service which is at times lacking, however the supremely cheap prices compensate for this! (Also BYO any alcohol)
J Cameron
Very average for dumplings and very terrible service. Waiter was the most unenthusiastic and uninterested person that I've ever been served by and when he wasn't serving looked to be having a nap on a near by table.
Only redeeming feature of the meal was the large portion of Chinese greens in oyster sauce would recommend if you are unfortunate enough to find yourself here.
Eric Shi Tan
The worse Restaurant me. The stuff or the owner attitude is the worst. Why they even open restaurant for this kind of attitude. Out to have dinner should be fun and enjoyable but no this kind of service! If i can -10 of out 10!
Maddie Guscott
Got take away from here, and while it was prepared and ready quickly, the flavour wasn't too great. We ordered two sides of dumplings too and we only got one! Not to mention the mild food poisoning following both the chicken and beef oyster stir fry's 😕
Went once to try it ordered a heap of dumpling no love in service or food. No asian people in restaurant as they know when a dumpling place is not up to their standards that they demand in this day and age of dumpling frenzy and because it's the cool thing to do. I normally get dumplings/noodles once a fortnight and my opinion is this place is terrible only the local white folk continue to eat here because they don't know any better and think lemon chicken is an actually an authentic chinese dish. I'm unsure what meat was in the peking pork. The salted duck was ok I gave it 6/10, dumplings 3/10. They would have this menu for the last 25 years and in 1995 it was the the talk of the town but times are changing the roosters flown out of the hen house and not coming back.

Tip: If you're asian don't go here. (coming from someone who is whiter then milk.)
Foodachu
Yang yang noodles you have good day where you get all of the food you orders and then there is bad day where you are missing parts of your order even tho it isn't busy or the table that came 15mins after you and they get their food first. This little Shop is in heathmont I like there hot and spicy chicken noodles. The dumpling and noodles are freshly made here, if you go for an early lunch you will see them making it at the back table. Spring onion pancake is normally oily and cripsy. Beef and black beans is serve on a hot plate. Also I wish they give you tea here instead of water to wash down the oily food. Special noodles is normally a hit as well. I'm guessing it family owned as the waiters are normally young teenagers and sometime doing their homework at the counter. Service here is okay so don't go excpet too much from it. It is children friendly, wouldn't suggest taking a pram into it cos not much space.
Jade Ryan
I've been a very good customer to Yang Yang's over the years. The service is always hit-and-miss, but I'm usually happy to cop it because their dumplings are delicious.

Having said that - last week the service was so awful that I'd reconsider going again. The whole night was like a scene from Faulty Towers. The waiter kept bringing out food, and when tables said it wasn't theirs, he'd just drop it off at the next table without even saying anything. The four tables around us all got random food placed on their table and the wait staff would just run off to the kitchen before anyone could say anything. We waited a good 45 minutes before two of our five dishes arrived. As if that wasn't bad enough, another 20 minutes passed before we were told that the kitchen had lost our order, so we got up and left. The worst part is they didn't even apologise. They just don't care - the wait staff working that night probably won't be there in a month anyway.
Food Glorious Food
The service is hilarious. Go to be entertained. "Can we have a coke?" "Geddit yurself!" Fantastic. Food's ok but for 10 bucks it is good value. 50/50 chance you get your mains before entree, but that adds to the charm.
Homie
The service ok. Dumplings and spring onion pancake were amazing. Would go back just for that. The mains were ok. Out of four meals two were alright and the other two were nice. In the end we had to leave because it was so noisy we couldn't hear each other talk and I have trouble hearing anyway, I actually gave up and sat back well before we left.
Lauren Watson
Good value for money. Dumplings are amazing but main meals are hit and miss. The service is terrible. One of the waitresses had a tissue up her nose while serving. So hard to get help.
Order your entree and when they come out order your mains. They bring everything out all together. Water glasses are oily and not clean.
Ling Yap
They have the same branch at Bayswater as well. This is near to the Heathmont train station- a small Chinese restaurant famed for its dumplings (but not to my liking as the skin is too thick) The only dish I ever order from here is the Seafood Noodle Soup or Fish Noodle Soup. Generous portions with home made Shanghai noodles. Price is cheap and tasty. Good take away outlet for people on the run. Often it fills you up if you order a plate of dumplings but I would say the other noodle dishes are worth to try out. However do not expect great customer service as they can be loud and moody.
Mrs Lavender
Had take away pork dumplings & prawn and pork won ton . It's not too bad but I believe it will taste better if we eat in . A choice other than pizza & fastfood for the night that you don't want to cook .
Ashanie Mekhala Perera
I have never eaten in here but have had take-away a few times now and can happily report the dumplings are good!

The veg and beef dumplings are my favorite, the noodle dishes are okay - standard, sauce overload as you'd expect from a local take away place. My only complaint is how tight they are with the vinegar and chilli oil for the dumplings! Its like having to pull teeth, if you want more sauce for the dumps!
Emma Juniper
Not really a fan, sorry. The dumplings all taste the same to me and nothing really to write home about. I do like their Singapore noodles though, but prefer other places for my dumpling fix.
BGfood
The rudest people I have met! The food was pretty standard for dumplings - not too bad but nothing special. The service on the other hand was beyond appalling. We came with a reservation and all they responded was "you have to be out by 7:15 because we have other customers". They took us to our table and threw menus at us (literally). Then they came back every minute telling us to hurry up and order or we have to get out. We ordered almost straight away and they took a while to bring our food out so we waited. We kept being told we had to eat quickly when the food comes. The food took a while and came 10 minutes before they told us we had to leave. We ate it, they took out plates and told us to pay and go. I have never felt more uncomfortable and less welcome at a restaurant. I had heard good things about this place but had been warned or the poor service. I can understand poor service but this was so hostile I would have left if I wasn't meeting my family there for dinner. People say that the service doesn't matter because the food is great. I'm sorry but it is not good enough to put up with that rubbish. I will never go back to that place in my lifetime.
Loulou
Food was large proportions however it was hit and miss with the dishes. Highly recommend the honey chicken and the fried dumplings, where as the salt and pepper tofu in which the tofu it self was bland and watery, as well as the fried rice; which was closer to steamed with added veg were disappointing.
As other reviews have stated the service is also lacking
Molly
Great food, reasonable prices, best dumplings, the spring onion pancakes are not as good as their sister restaurant in Bayswater, the only reason this place doesn't get a 5 is because the service is very poor.
Phat City Chick
Always a local favourite. When we feel like a quick and delicious Chinese take-away, Yang Yang is the place. The prompt and efficient service has been excellent and the food is delicious. Our favourites include the spicy beef, flat rice noodles and fried pork dumplings. Amazing!
Slayers Try
Excellent food with unbelievable price! All of tenants in my flat loves here. My most favorite is Taiwan beef rice and Beef and egg rice. You can have such a nice meal just around 10$.
Jay Allen
Best dumplings in town! :)
But service is shocking.
At the end of the day, the food is worth it.
So definitely save this for future reference!
Erin
Excellent food. Only costs about $10 each if you're going for dumplings. Service is very hit and miss. Definitely go all the time for the food.
Cjfung
Sister restaurant to the 'original' in Bayswater, the menu and prices are identical. Don't come for the ambience or service, although decor at Heathmont is a little nicer than at Bayswater. But DO come for the food; authentic Shanghai, delicious and cheap, great value for money. Try the Fried Chicken and Prawn Dumplings, and the Taiwan Beef Noodle Soup.
Vee
Visited here with a friend for dinner. Would expect it to be quiet on a Wednesday night but the place was almost full and without a reservation we almost didn't get a spot! Food came out promptly and at different times so nothing went cold before we ate it! Had the vegetarian fried dumplings, red bean buns, vegetable pancake and asked for the Thai fried rice without chicken and they happily obliged. Delicious food and a lovely experience!
B Amber
Food incredible! Service Little poor because they are a little ignorant and don't speak good English but if that's the price you have to pay for amazing food oh well! Come here all the time!
Lucy Ferres
Great food! had three different kinds of dumplings and they were all fantastic. Restaurant was very busy so glad we booked ahead, all guests seemed very happy to be there and happy with their meals etc.
Caitlin Roberts
So the service isn't great but the food is amazing! As long as you know this before you get there, it is easy to deal with. Also got to put it into perspective - meal for 2 = $20!
Food is always yummy and consistent.
Hannah Mack
This place is conflicting because the food is so great but the service is absolutely terrible! It's so affordable and so yummy! However I do not recommend going here if you want a 'nice dinner'. The good food outweighs the bad service!
Jade Bassetto
This place is an absolute dumpling gem for the eastern suburbs. The dumplings are cheap but delicious. Highly reccomend the fried vegetarian and the shanghai pork they are quality dumplings that you dont need to travel to the city for and imo better quality and price then anything you will find at box hill
EdSnails
Firstly (and this is very important to understand) this is a Shanghainese restaurant. The real draw-card of Shanghainese cuisine being - dumplings.

Dumpling restaurants are (generally) cheap, quick and provide delicious shareable food. If you are after customer service, you're in the wrong place.
If you order a dish for yourself, you're probably doing it wrong. If you order any of the following: sweet & sour whatever, beef & black bean, lemon chicken - you really should have tried something different for once. If you eat your dumplings with soy sauce - you're doing it wrong!
Also, if you are expecting entree and mains - you're in the wrong place.

Now that we have those things out of the way, do yourself a favour and get a nice plate of dumplings. Pork or chicken & prawn are my usual.

This is a great dumpling shop. The staff show trademark disinterest in customers (feel free to visit any of the back-alley dumpling places in China town if you care to compare), the food comes out quick and in random order, sometimes dishes are thrown onto your table and ... the food is great!

I think that most of the reviewers slamming this place just haven't been to enough other dumpling restaurants, or that there is even a difference between Asian cuisines.

My advice: get a few dishes to share, make use of their BYO and have an enjoyable night in with your friends. Be prepared for grumpy staff and treat it as part of the experience.
Kikioct62
Pathetic. The owner is extremely rude. Service appaling. English woeful. Long waits and incorrect food supplied.

Sooo good. Very well priced and big servings. Love it

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IN MELBOURNE - FOOD JUST 'OK, HAVE HAD BETTER.. I arrived to collect my phone order tonight. The staff were all rude, no eye contact, very dismissive. Gave me the incorrect change which included a 50 euro cent coin (????). Why are we supporting this disgraceful local business when they seem absolutely indifferent to their customers. Also, since they seem to be quite busy = successful, hire some more staff!

The food was just 'ok', nothing fantastic and really quite oily.
Louise
Simple & pleasant. We booked ahead after reading reviews that said booking avoided hassles. It was Thursday night at 6pm, place was nearly empty when we arrived but filled up quickly and almost every table was reserved. Staff were friendly and promptly put a pot of tea on our table and took our orders. Food was quick to arrive. We had Indonesian noodles and chicken & vegetable sizzle plate with oyster sauce which were very nice. We also had fried pork dumplings which were average. Cheap meal, pleasant experience, will go again.
Bonniedooncrew2
Awesome dumplings, crap service!!. The fried beef dumplings and the vegetable dumplings are amazing

I'm slowly making my way through the menu and I am yet to find a main dish that is actually good..

Service is horrible, very abrupt and rude.
Well priced.

Make sure you ask for chop sticks and soy sauce when you get take away, they rarely package eating utensils etc.
Facebook User
Food is amazing!. While they seem to be under staffed. .the food was so fresh, using quality ingredients and cooking to perfection. It was a pleasure to sample such fresh homemade dumplings, and the food is incredibly cheap!

-----10 Feb, 2015-----

Chicken and Prawn Dumplings. These are so fresh and delicious...best I've ever had :)
B.allison525
Amazing food but prepare for a wait. As long as you know there will be a wait and the service can be dodge at times I love this place. The food is amazing and fresh, everyone complains about their service but it's so criminally cheap and BYO everything that it's worth the wait. I never hesitate to go over serving time, because that happens anywhere and you can pay a lot more for bad service
Mark.ahyee
Nothing Special Here. Sorry people but its nothing special. Poor service and badly laid out interior. As a Chinese Australian I come for the food and don't care about the surroundings but it needs a bit of work at the congested front entry. I will keep heading to Box Hill just down the road in future and give this place a miss. The food is passable here - no denying that. But it needs a lot of work in other areas
Markhornsby
DONT RELY ON A BOOKING HERE. Made a phone booking. We all turned up at the booking time. Sorry we have double booked you with someone else. Maybe try the restaurant up the street. Guess what?
We won't be back
Pete Smol
My tummy says good dumplings. I see bad service. It is amazing how such rude staff and bad service can still entice us to get dumplings from here.
Maxiecruiser
Great food even if its almost self serve!!. One of our fave eaterys in the area...food is great..the dumplings are to die for!! But forget about the service... its almost help yourself to a table... get your own drinks from the fridge... get your own cutlery!! But believe me..who cares when the food is that good!!
Laurapanache
Major customer service issues!. The women on the register is rude and unhelpful. The nice young man who works there and tries to actually help customers is constantly abused in front of customers when trying to assist. I went fro take away and was advised when I placed my order there would be a 35 minute wait. I was happy with that. After 45 minutes I enquired on progress and was told it would be 5 minutes away. After 50 minutes I asked again and was told it would be ready when it was ready. I got my food after 1 hour & 15 minutes. I wrote it off as a band night, and gave them the benefit of the doubt. Returned a month later and was told my take away would be 20 minutes. I enquired after a 30 minutes wait and was told it would be ready shortly. After 50 minutes I was advised my food would be at least another 20 minutes away and was offered a refund, which I accepted. The women on the counter abused the young man who offered me a discount and when I complained about the wait she dismissed me with "thank you - goodbye". I will not return. Many people in front of me in the line were unhappy and several of the in restaurant diners were upset with the service they were receiving also. Unacceptable.
Tameimpala123
Good food average service. I shed a tear of acceptance for anyone that has to endure the poor customer service at Yang Yang's. We were given the bill not long after we got our food and were kicked out before we'd all finished. Food's good though but I'd go somewhere else if you're after an enjoyable dining experience.
Lauren Ricci
Very rude customer service, kicked us put before closing time, only 10 minutes after they served our food. We couldn't finish, so we were asked to take the rest home to eat. So we had to eat our food in the car, and it was still 20 minutes until the shop officially shut. I've never seen such bad customer service. It is not okay.
Matthewkrauseplumbing
Never experience this customer service. Waited 1 hour and 20 mins for takeaway for 2 people. Asked how long it would be- no response first time. Asked again how long and was told 'go to the kitchen yourself and find out!'. I was shocked. The place was not even full. I do not think a paying customer should ever be treated this way. Will not return.
Rach Munnink
Lady on the register is so rude, Needs to learn customer service!

Can't Believe This Is The Same Place. Can't believe satisfied customers are describing the same place.. The dish I ordered was absolutely disgusting. Swimming in oil and just absolutely dreadful. A truly awful experience.
Croydon Gal
Yummy. Hand made noodles were yum, dumplings also yum and not doughy like some places I've been too. Reasonably priced. A definite fav from now on
Msetts
Delicious dumplings!. Awesome dumplings (particularly the Peking Pork), the mains are also really delicious, and really great value for money, very cheap and excellent quality
Hugo Morgan
I went to Yang Yang after only having one previous experience of Chinese food and the meal was simply delicious!
The textural combination of fried and steamed dumplings was delightful, and so were the Singapore noodles. A great, local Chinese restaurant!
Kaila
Went there for dinner food was okay, good service if your doing take away. Very busy for take away orders, u get forgotten if u dine in !!!
Nicole Windley
When this place was Sha Tin it was great, recently decided to get Chinese from here as we had not tried it since the new owners took over. It was expensive and food was not cooked properly. I paid $50 for special fried rice (only ingredients were rice, peas and a bit of prawn, rice was gluggy), beef and black bean which had mushrooms in it (had never come across mushrooms in Chinese food before, and my partner is allergic to mushrooms so he couldn't eat it) and lemon chicken, the batter was not cooked properly and neither was the chicken. Pretty disappointing as this place used to be great and not that expensive
PMP
Good cheap dumplings. I've had better and I've certainly had worse. I'd recommend eating in.
Amber Verbeeten
The dumplings here are so good, can't go past them. The other main meals are also tasty but I go back for the dumplings. Staff are super friendly, can sometimes take a bit for the food to come out, but not a massive amount of time.
Highly recommended.
MummyCino
Do you have a booking?. This is "our local". So close that I have never bothered to get takeaway because it is more convenient to eat there and not have to deal with the aftermath of washing up.

But every time we go there - usually between 5:30-6pm, when there are maybe 2-3 tables occupied - we are asked the same question..."do you have a booking?" Our reply is always the same "no, but we will be really quick, we can order now" Then comes the 5 minutes of decision making on their part to decide whether they can afford to give us a table before their bookings arrive at 7:30. Incidentally we have always been granted our table, ordered, eaten, paid and left before the restaurant gets any busier than it was when we got there.

We go through this ordeal every time because it's usually an impulse trip to satisfy dumpling cravings, so booking ahead never crosses our mind. And we get those cravings because the food here is great (well, the dishes we eat anyway!!) and cheap. (Xiao long bao quality has gone downhill, but everything else we like remains awesome).
Zoe Smits
Asia delight. Since travelling Asia I am yet to come across cuisine anywhere in Melbourne that is as good as it is in Asia until dining at Yang Yang! Amazing food, stir fried vege was just as incredible as that served in Asia! Dumplings incredible! Tom Yum soup delicious! Service fantastic! Can't wait to get back to enjoy the goodness.
Daniel Koh
Who cares about the service?. When I can go to a restaurant and stuff myself with great food for under $15, the quality of service becomes irrelevant. I completely agree with the comments made, however, generally, good service is paid for.
I'm a regular here and most friends that I bring agree that the dumplings (main attraction of this restaurant) are as good as anywhere (Auntie's dumplings, Shanghai Street, DC Dumplings, etc). I've had most things on the menu - but the ones to look out for are the pork or chicken and prawn dumplings. Chilli beef on rice is also very good, as is the shanghai noodles. If you're feeling semi adventurous, the hot and sour soup with dumplings is great.
Bonnie Morgan
Amazing!!!!!!. Cheap as chips and great food. service is not great but the food made up for it. will be returning very soon. 10/10 food
Nean
Sorry, but. Chicken was extremely dry, rice was old and dry (either yesterday's or not enough water in cooking) and dumplings were steamed to the point of the wrapper being stodgy. A nice little family business, if they could just put more effort into the detail, it would be a great spot.
Karen
Good value. Really enjoy the dumplings from Yang Yang. Have only ever had take away, as the resteraunt has been booked out. Shanghai noodles were great. Excellent value for money, good quality.
Ellen
Delicious food, but very average service. Waited one hour for food when tables that ordered after us received their food significantly before us.
TazzaD
Average Dumplings... We ordered chicken and sweet corn soup, seafood tom yum soup and 2 serves of dumplings - after reading the reviews, we were utterly disappointed with what we received.

The soup was passable - my husbands chicken and sweet corn soup was ok, the seafood tom yum was full of processed seafood and mushy carrots.
This would have been ok if the dumplings were any good, but sadly, they weren't. These were some of the worst dumplings we've had. The dumpling wrappers were thick and overcooked and the filling was dry and tasteless.

We are hoping this is an aberration and will might give them another as we live in the area, but apart from the positive reviews on this site, there is not much impetus to do so.
Mick
Ordinary Service. Went here for lunch today. Waited 50 minutes for a serve of fried Chicken and Prawn dumplings. When I left without eating, they still wanted me to pay! Their reason was "fried take a little longer." Not even an apology. Won't be returning, ever.
Leisa
2 serves Dumplings, Indonesian fried rice, honey chicken, noodles, salt pepper calamari. 6 of us $72 amazing value and fabulous food :)
Andrea Fraser
Amazing dumplings and super cheap! Definitely a favourite

Sensational. Living in Blackburn we used to go to Box Hill for dumplings until we discovered this little gem. Awesome dumplings, great service & value is worth the extra drive. Highly recommend.
Junipere
Love this place! Cheap for decent dumplings. It's always busy. Good Singapore noodles too!
Emma Hore-Lacy
Never had a bad meal here. Fried chicken and prawn dumplings are delicious, as is the fried rice, the special fried vermicelli, and the Shanghai noodles. Spring rolls are yum as well. Will try more dishes when I go back :-)
Denz
Yin Yang. Food here is great. Fried pork dumplings, Vermicelli Noodles and Mapo Tofu all very good, especially for outer East. Downside of this place is the service. While the staff out front are nice enough, they regularly mess up the orders or one of the dishes will come out very late. It's the bad girl/guy thing... you know they're no good, but you keep going back for more.
Daniel Coutts
Ordered was told 20 minute wait -

Waited 50 minutes before walking out..

I know exactly were they can jam there dumplings
Karsaki
Fried Pork Ribs SOOO GOOD!. Loves this place, only that food gets out very slow, about 20~40 minutes wait just for dumplings. But u'd know by then it's definitly worth the time and bill!

Fantastic tasting food , dumplings areto die for - fav are the prawn & chicken fried dumpling which is huge (10) and luv seafood sizzling plate . Eat here every couple of weeks since they opened and have never had a bad meal . Soo cheap !!

We were the first customers dining in that evening, and the family who runs the shop was sitting at a table preparing dumplings. At least we knew they were fresh! The place certainly had the newly painted/refurbished smell to it, but after a while you don't really notice. By the time we finished our meal the restaurant was quite full, surprisingly as it was one of the first days of opening. It was also quite popular for takeaway. Anyway, onto the food. Photos taken on my Samsung Galaxy.
