Went here last night to celebrate my wedding anniversary. Wow what a night. Every part of our meal was spot on. Zucchini flowers for entree were to die for. Husband got trevally and his plate was cleaned. I got the slow cooked pork belly. Amazing. To top it off we shared the chocolate assassin which is a chocolate lovers dream. They also gave us a pannacotta to try. Quite possibly the best desert I have ever come across in my life! Thanks so much for an awesome night guys. What a way to celebrate 6 years married ��

This place has rapidy become my "must go" place, whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner. A menu which changes to take advantage of seasonal produce, knowledgeable and friendly wait staff, and a fantastic chef. Who could ask for more?

We have just had the most delicious meal at little black pig in Heidelberg. David is a very talented chef and lovely person. Will be definitely coming back for the prawns. I have never seen such large prawns before. And the best sardines ever. Orgasm on the tongue.

My husband and I went for dinner and were very impressed. The meal was delicious and the lemon tart, a must have!!! The staff were lovely. We got there early and were given a lot of attention and even when it got busy, my wine glass was never empty. They were on the ball the whole time we were there. Such a lovely atmosphere. We will definitely be eating here again!!

Consistenly blown away each time we come here! Not only is the food second to none but the service and hospitality can't be beaten. Glenn and Lolo make everybody feel at home as do Kristian and the wait staff. European hospitality and world class food without the pretense right at our door. Super fresh food cooked to perfection and served by friendly staff. The chef and owner David talks to you about the food and its preparation and asks for your opinions and suggestions. The previous owners were also dedicated and lovely but David and his crew are upholding the traditional nicely.

My favourite dining experience outside of Italy. The handmade pasta with game meat brings me back to my hometown of Calabria. A friendly family restaurant with an ever rotating menu changing with the seasons. Should be a first stop for anyone seeking regional Italian dining in Melbourne.

Stunning. Simply stunning. From the moment you walk in you feel as though you’ve been welcomed into the home of an old friend you haven’t seen in years but where things pick up right where they left off. The food is exceptional, and the service is warm and caring. This is a bit of a hidden gem given its location but that makes it all the more enjoyable.

This is a hidden gem, I’m jealous that I have to share how amazing it is because I don’t want to it become too popular, but I still want everyone to try little black pig. authentic Italian fare, fresh homely and always consistent. The owners and staff are wonderful and make you feel like family.

This place is a hidden gem. So convenient for us locals, and food and service top notch. Husband and I dined here to celebrate our anniversary, and took the plunge with the 5 course tasting menu. Enjoyed every component from the cleansing and delightfully fresh oysters with apple and caviar (surprisingly good combination), through to the Tiramisu and Panna Cotta. Very friendly and attentive staff, we shall return!

I can’t fault Little Black Pig & Sons. We came here not knowing what to expect and were blown away. The friendly staff, the ambience, even the music made for such a wonderful dining experience. We had a fantastic girls night out! The service was very friendly and professional.. the food, amazing!

The scallops and artichoke entrees were great! The stuffed artichokes a standout! The flavor perfect!!

Most ordered ricotta ravioli.. part from 1 fish dish and later found out the chef David actually quickly made our ravioli as so many people had ordered it that night!! They were beautiful with a burnt butter and sage sauce. Fish dish was great also..

Desserts of panacotta and lemon tart - delicious ! Thank you - we had a great night and def will be back!

We came here because of the good review about this place, it even made to top 12 best Italian in Melbourne. Since we live in the area, might as well give it a try. Oysters were really nice and fresh and tasty, but they were bit too small, Tiramisu was very gently soothing. The best thing is here is the service, our waitress was very attentive.

Beautiful pasta, delicious pork and overly generous wine servings of a luscious wine list nothing not to love about this place. Lovely warm staff who are more than welcoming to add to this places charm. You will leave here full to say the least. WARNING you may need to be rolled out the door... we certainly had to be.

Had Father’s Day lunch at this unassuming restaurant and wow was I impressed! Awesome service, great ambience but the real hero here is the amazing food prepared by the chef/owner. This food is cooked with LOVE. We had an amazing scallop dish and a seafood pasta entree and then tasty wild boar ragu paperdelle and a crispy roast porchetta for main. Great portions and really a 10/10 for food. I even left a nice healthy tip because I thought the food was worth it. Hats off to the chef and highly recommend to anyone who loves good Italian.

I absolutely adore Little Black Pig & Sons. I've been twice now (within a few weeks) and both parties I was with enjoyed everything immensely. The service is lovely and the wine list is great. The food is simple, elevated cooking with a focus on fresh produce. It's such a friendly, warm place - I can't recommend the experience enough.

Wait staff made us feel very comfortable and were very thoughtful and knowledgeable. David the Chef came out to our table not once but twice to ask us about the meal and he was great to talk too. In a group of six we tried the fish, gnocchi, the goat, stuffed artichoke, antipasto platter and it was very good. Goat and the fish the standouts. Deserts the panacotta was up there and would really recommend. For wines we tried the Pinot ( sorry forgot the name but it was from Victoria) based on the recommendation of our waiter and it did not disappoint. We had a great night, cost around 600 all up drinks, meals, deserts, coffees etc. Very Reasonable, not any downside that we experienced. Will be going back

Very small restaurant so you must book. The hospitality is exceptional because they collect your details and the second time you go there, they call you by your name and can tell you what you had last time. The food is exceptional. David the chef worked and trained at an Italian restaurant and his Italian with small twists are mouth watering eating. Price is average in Melbourne terms but servings are generous. Parking is in front on Burgundy Street or at the back in Warringle shopping centre with a lane to the street front. This will be my 6th time so that's how much I enjoy dinning there.

On Friday night I enjoyed one of the nicest meals I've had for months at Little Black Pig and sons.

It was comfortably spaced and well lit with a relaxingly clean decor.

While the food was presented well for the eyes the real effort was for the taste buds. It was balanced, light and tasty.

Speaking with the chef (also an owner) he pointed out that the menu can change a couple of times in a week depending on the fresh produce and live seafood he procures. From the conversation, this was a person who cooks with joy (an essential ingredient in my opinion).

Highlights were the pea ravioli and a truly succulent piece of Point Samson ruby snapper.

The Little Black Pig Restaurant has some wonderful selections of foods.
Menu changes on a very regular basis to cater for seasonal produce.
Why serve goods that come from another season and have most likely needed to be frozen or kept in a manner that preserves it.
Standard pork crackling dish served on freshly harvested vegetables.
YUM - total yummy food.
We also shared a fennel and blood orange salad that complimented our dish perfectly.
A wonderful wine list and beers - Coburg & Pentridge Pale Lager.
The passionate attitude to their cuisine will easily make this a regular occasion restaurant.
Freshly baked bread and oil simply makes the meal memorable.
Christopher & Marian will return and strongly recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner.

Booked in for lunch, very accomodating with a high chair, although cramped. Service was friendly, drinks were nice and refreshing and the antipasto platter we ordered was definitely more than enough.

Was a nice spot, quality of food was good, overall, enjoyed our visit.

Their seasonal "fresh" Menu is definitely just like Melbourne's weather ..... will change without notice :-) if the Market can't supply it fresh, it simply won't be in the kitchen .... kudos to Chef David and the team at LBP&S, much better, shorter and much more enjoyable than some other acronym these days.

9.5/10 $21.00 Carpaccio di Pesce, a perfect starter, Hiramasa Kingfish lemon cured, fresh Celery broth and Lemon puree, balanced to cleansed the palate

8/10 $19.00 Sardine alla Griglia, love that char-grilled taste on the Sardine, the sweet acidity theme continues

7/10 $9.00 Insalata di Asparagi, not a fan of shaved Asparagus, but good company nonetheless

8/10 $23.00 Tagliatelle al Ragu di cervo, light & tasty Venison ragu sauce, pasta was just a tad overcooked, getting us ready for the next dish

9/10 $39.00 Polpo alla Griglia, Robe Octopus at its best, lightly grilled comes with fantastic companies; potatoes and Berlotti beans

7/10 $39.00 Canguro Arrostito, interesting culinary fusion, great companion, meat was just a little tough

Thank you Sarah for organising the Menu, awesome choice for $75.00/head ...... it rhymes, thoroughly enjoyable.

Floor staff are a little bit nervous, eager, attentive, pleasant ..... not forgetting the two wonderful owners, a great night out, thank you guys.

Not far from the City, easy parking, no hassle ..... one Suburbia restaurant heading in the right direction, great work guys, see you next time.

Looks different from those photos on Zomato, they must be going through changes.
The shopfront looks modern, however the interior is definitely rustic, so is their Italian inspired offering. They did a great job with the main wall, exposed bricks and rusted pig shape steel plate. The guys are well dressed in their "biz" shirts.

Latte wise, above average, will come back for their food and update the rating accordingly. JT-10/09/2017.

I know 5 out of 5 is a very high score. But I have shared many wonderful meals here.
The reason for the score is a combination of quality and value for money. 
If this restaurant were in the inner city you'd have to queue for a table and pay significantly more for each course.
Glen's menu is ever changing and of the highest quality. Here fresh seasonal ingredients reign supreme. 
Just a tip - don't bother picking a wine just tell master of the floor, Christian what you're eating and let him use his super power of wine selection to do the job for you.  Can't wait to go again.

Totally worth the drive out to Heidelberg - absolutely loved this restaurant! Was so impressed with the honest, yet caring service. Super cosy lovely presented restaurant. Food was great! We were only ordering wine by the glass but had the sommelier come and speak with us and let us taste before ordering. What a great dinner.

Great little italian suburban restaurant with a nice selection of wines. Recommend for a date night :) i really enjoyed the tagliatelle with saffron: amazing flavour! I think the ice cream desserts are quite reasonably priced so they are a good choixe for dessert.

Perfect Sunday Lunch at Little Black Pig. Christian was the perfect host & made us feel very welcome and even fussed over. We shared the salumi plate which was so fresh & delicious. We then had the house made Swiss chard & ricotta ravioli & Rigatoni con polpette, both were perfection. Extra home made bread provided to mop up the plates which we were happy to do. Our mains the Cotoletta di Vitello & Angus T-bone which did not disappoint, so much flavour & goodness along with d'lish side of potato's & beans. Impeccable service & delicious food what more could you ask for?Can't wait to return🤗

Amazing food tonight. Couldn't have been better! Heard from waitress that veggies grown chefs home garden & truly it's beautiful fresh taste. Prawn risotto had clean fresh prawn taste, Pasta was made on premises & citrus flavor cut the richness of creamy pasta. Mussels we had for starter were very succulent. Every plate garnished nicely & perfectly balanced flavors. Pannacotta we had was so so so so good. Nice creaminess with real vanilla beans. Strawberry sorbet is a must try!!!Will return in no time!

Another delicious meal at Little Black Pig - Antipasto is fantastic and the White Truffle Ravioli on the specials menu is superb - have had that twice in one week! Staff very courteous and explain the menu. Drinks menu is also awesome. One thing to note - if parking in the shopping centre undercover parking area - beware - they close the gates just after 10pm - well they did Saturday night - but luckily the owner warned us and I was able to jump through and escape!

It was a delightful dinner! Everything made in house from ground up. Bread was made their & taste , texture beautiful. We ordered their appetizer was really good. Main course was risotto with sausages fantastic. Sausage was nice juicy Italian sausage taste but it was tiny bit runny & rice bit firm for my liking when it comes to Risotto. Though the flavor balanced well with herbs , artichoke matching well. My gf ordered pasta home made very nice texture & really nice buttery & beautifully garnished truffle was fantastic. Drinks menu was great with complex & great selections. Desert is a must we had mandarin sorbet like eating fresh mandarins & vanilla panacotta has creamy & soft texture. overall nice wonderful experience. Nice big roomy ambiance & staff friendly with assistance in choosing menu. must try!!!!

Found ourselves in Heidelberg over the weekend where there are not many options for a nice lunch. Were on our way to Museum Heide, but the cafe there has such a low score that we opted to go somewhere else Wanted to go to a cafe around the corner, but that had closed it's kitchen already (2:15 pm). Instead we 'had' to go to Little Black Pigs. Lucky us, it was great!! We started with the antipasti platter. Usually I am not a big fan of these because I feel they are not that exciting. Not here. It was great!! Great meat, mozarella and some other homemade things. The Romanesco brocolli on this platter was divine. Plus was also that the chef himself came to bring it out. We wanted the buckwheat pappardelle with duck but unfortunately they were out. We took squid ink spaghetti with snapper and cuttlefish and ravioli instead. The pastas were nice. The raviolo was a bit too rich to my taste, filled with ricotta, pecorino on top and in a butter sauce. But it was nice nevertheless. The vermentino wine was delicious. They offered us to taste two wines before picking one. Service was great, friendly and informal, done by the French owner and an Italian waitress. If you find yourself on this side of town I totally recommend Little Black Pigs & Sons!

Being married to an Italian we don't go to Italian restaurants very often. However we found ourselves at The Little Black Pig thanks to a gift voucher for a recent birthday.
The menu is divided into 3 parts (plus dessert): Antlpasti made up of lovely nibbles and shared plates; Primi mainly pasta and risotto (all freshly made daily) and Secondi - the main meals.
We enjoyed the Scallops from the antipasti selection - nicely presented in a shell with greens and a sliver of anchovy. Delicious.
No Primi for us so for main the hapuka was sensational. Cooked to perfection with olives, potato and rosemary (a combination I wouldn't normal associate with fish). The stock that it was swimming in was balanced and moorish. My husband really enjoyed the kid with Sangiovese - a delicious melt in your mouth stew. House made ciabatta with olive oil to mop up the sauce.
So food wise it was really great. The wine list was all Italian wine (well the Reds) and so it's a bit frustrating not being able to choose. Maybe some Australian wines with Italian heritage such as Pizzini or Primo Estate would be a nice touch and supporting Aussie wines.
The restaurant itself needs warming up - lots of concrete and bare walls made it feel cold. The toilets were like visiting a hospital!

The best service I have received in a long time. The complimentary homemade bread was delectable. The wine was delicious and they offered for me to try it first, which is a rarity. I had homemade pasta. It melted in my mouth. It is nice to see passion within a restaurant. Three trotters up Little Black Pig 🐷🐷🐷

Super impressed with my recent experience here. Some of the best service I have received in quite some time. The staff are upbeat, vibrant and helpful. This was refreshing and set the tone for the rest of our evening. Like your typical Italian fine dining restaurant, they have an extensive wine list with plenty of variety. Despite this, their range of soft drinks, beer and spirits are extremely limited (in saying that, I understand that most would primarily enjoy wine with their meal at this location). My partner and I ordered an antipasto to start, followed by two entree sized main meals. I'm pleased that we did so, as the dishes were quite dominating (never been big on my pasta) so it was nice to experience the different flavours throughout a number of dishes. Whilst the antipasto and the main meals were enjoyable, the highlight of the evening was definitely the dessert. We shared a panna cotta and it was absolutely divine - a great way to cap off a nice evening. If you're ever in the area, give this place a go. Their friendly staff will make you feel at home and they'll even serve you some fantastic food, too! We will be back.

We've been at least 5 times and have never been disappointed. The menu is always fresh and changing. We love that the fresh produce is straight from the garden and that the bread and pasta is all made in house. Service can at times be a tad slow, but all is forgiven when you taste the food. Easily the best restaurant in Burgundy street.

Great muscles (the best I've ever eaten in fact), fantastic atmosphere/interior, the crew working were completely on the ball and the wine was delicious. My only criticism was the pork I ordered was tough and overcooked and my better half ended up eating it as I couldn't get my teeth into it, a real shame. The desert was pretty good although a little sloppy. On the whole though its great to have a classy joint in the hub (as per the previous contributor) we aren't spoilt for choice in this strip! So big thanks to the establishment for being so brave, the number of covers you had on the night prove its a much needed addition!

Had dinner here on Saturday night with friends.  Lovely warm welcoming staff & owners who took time out to greet and talk with customers - a rare thing these days.  The food was fabulous, fresh, home made, delicious.  The antipasti plate had a variety of items that surprised and were scrumptious.  Snapper was perfect and had to clean up plate with more home made bread.  I followed up with a perfect panna cotta and a wee piece of my partners chocolate cake - absolutely wonderful!  I can't wait to go back.

What an Amazing dinner !. We can't believe we have a restaurant of this quality so close to home, everything was delicious, we were so happy with all our dishes and with a group of six got to try a few different dishes ! . Can't wait to head back ..

Perfect in Every way. We were told to go to 'Little Pig' by quite a few people, and finally got there. Well what an awesome meal , what sensational staff and great wine. Every dish was sensational, bursting with flavours and so HOME MADE. The service was the best ! I'm going back again next week. Small intimate place , so make sure you book, otherwise you'll miss out. No I'm not a relative or marketing agent, just love good food !!Vivian from Eaglemont

Great new addition to Heidelberg. Came in for breakfast, the food was really great and the guy serving us was very friendly. Loved the italian take on brekky!

Shhhh - don't tell anyone! (As this food is so good)!!. We are locals and can't believe how lucky we are to have The Little Black Pig. My biggest problem is knowing what to choose from a constantly changing menu. The home-made pasta is always amazing - so delicate yet still al dente (my favourite is the ravioli which just melts in your mouth). The menu changes weekly to reflect seasonal produce (much of it grown by Glenn!) and sometimes daily. The home-baked bread and local olive oils are a great way to start any meal - with one of their (limited) range of wines (by the glass or carafe). Mains include a salad; a fish/seafood; and several lamb/poultry/pork/beef (depending on Glenn's inspiration) - so check on their Facebook site for daily menu. While my favourite is usually rolled pork or pork belly, we recently had goat there and it was so succulent! (A table of four of us all started going through the various dishes and gradually all talked ourselves into having ..."goat". We still rave about it each time we catch up!). Good desserts - all freshly made. Good coffee.

Glenn the chef is intent on moving this 'cafe' into a stand-out 'restaurant'. Calling it "an Italian" restaurant is a disservice. It is modern Australian food paying homage to Italian principles.

Everyone we take here has loved it (and it's been more than a dozen now - both lunch and dinner). I just hope I can still keep getting into this small but special restaurant as it inevitably becomes much-loved.

Glenn and his partner Lolo are putting so much into this venture. They deserve their coming success!

Visited with my sister and niece... As Italians we have a high expectation when dining at an Italian restaurant... As I have eaten at TBP before I assured my sister she would like, scrap that Love the food. Initial she was skeptical - well let's just say she was surprised by how fresh the food was. Simple dishes rich with flavor. Not one shortcut taken by the chef!!! Fatto di case really gives that home Cooke feeling that you really can't buy but the Little Black Pig has nailed it - thank you for keeping food honest. Natalie (local resident)

Heidelberg's best kept secret. I have had the pleasure of breakfast, lunches and dinners at Little Black Pig (formerly G and G deli) and have enjoyed every meal. It is a pleasure to eat locally and enjoy the standard of food that normally requires a trip to the inner city. The atmosphere is simple, casual and relaxed which may lead you to expect a less sophisticated cuisine. Pasta dishes are full of flavour, with ingredients that reflect what is available fresh and in season. Consequently the menu seems to change frequently so there is always something new to try. Leave room for desert, the pastries are excellent and the flour-less chocolate cake sensational (and very rich, perfect to share). You can also take home cakes and pastries which is my prefered option now when I have friends over for a meal. The cafe serve a limited selection of wines.

Great Food. Have been to Little Black Pig (formerly G & G Deli) since its opening in July, on a few occasions, both for lunch and dinner.
On every occasion, the food has been delicious, fresh and interesting. Service is always friendly.
Glenn's fresh handmade pasta is like silk and served with beautiful and seasonal sauces. The mains are always accompanied with seasonal fresh vegetables, such as artichokes, borlotti beans, etc. I have had the most beautiful tasty and healthy salads a couple of times at lunch which could not be faulted. I have taken girl friends for lunch and have come with couples for dinner and on all occasions there was not one complaint. and they have all said they would come again with their friends.
Glenn's cakes and desserts are an absolute must. Great coffee too.
Do not know what the previous diner was on about - pasta being too salty - obviously not used to well-seasoned tasty pasta like I make at my house and which all my friends rave about!!!
Lunch today with two friends was just superb. My friends said that they had never seen an antipasto platter which looked and tasted so amazing and their pappardelle with pork ragu was just perfect, especially with a few shavings of truffle on top.

Fresh, home made and delicious!. Welcoming staff, delicious desserts and coffee to boot, you can't go past The Little Black Pig. Formerly G & G Deli, head chef Glen also brings his expertise and love of fresh produce to the dinner menu, which changes regularly according to what's in season. My personal favourites are the home made pastas!

Pork-a-licious. I was so glad to eat a porchetta roll from little black pig today. I nearly cried when g&g deli closed, but my lunch today was better than ever.
