Review Swedish Tarts Henley - Henley Beach

Matthew Martin
Superb coffee, beautifully made. Good choice of gluten free eats, not so many dairy free options. Uber cool space with very chill tunes on a decent speaker system. Lose a star for No prices in the display case & surcharge for paying with card. Update April22: Return a star for consistently superb coffee!
Gordon Walker
The high rating is well deserved. My coffee was "exactly" how I ordered it and was delicious. The raspberry and white choc muffin - mmmmm! I will be back... Great atmosphere, funky surrounds and great staff attitude.

Coffee ok, but expensive. Service has dropped over the years as the business seems more commercial and quality isn't the same. I was charged a card payment fee, which these days is unusual especially with covid; it should be illegal. The beans in my opinion are overpriced; it suits more of a coffee connoisseur wiling to pay top dollar for their cup. I rather Lavazza sorry :( it's within the average budget.

Great service, good vibe there. Muffins were delicious and coffee excellent. All up very pleased

Another amazing experience at Coffee by the Beans. Freindly staff and great slice suggestion. Pistachio and coconut bar. Sweet with nice balance of seeds and fruit. Perfect match with the house blend long black.

What a fantastic coffee shop! Staff where so friendly and bubbly which was great but most importantly the coffee here is awesome! I’ve been here several time and tried several different things and it’s always been great, the last of which was a mocha iced coffee and it was without a doubt the best I’ve had! Sometimes iced coffees or mochas are just a shot over ice cream with milk added and the flavours are all over the place, this was all mixed in and almost like a thick shake, really well done guys I’ll be back for more!

A fantastic place for a meal. Prompt service and great food. There was no really loud music playing so it was possible to have conversation. The menu is varied and suited all our tastes. Thank you Swedish Tarts.

Pancake was almost raw - doughy and uncooked most of the way through. Just ate the bacon off the top. The two "muffins" were tasteless bread rolls with barely enough butter to cover half of one. Coffee was average and staff don't come across as friendly or very helpful (certainly not "bubbly" like their ad for a barista asks for on FB!). We were even told to grab sugar for our coffee off someone else's table. Not going back and won't be recommending it.

Two days in a row for breakfast. So delicious. A must place to come when visiting Henley. Crumpets and maple butter exceptional.

Swedish Tart’s flatbreads are to die for. Highly recommend!!

I had the best long black coffee with breakfast, I had to get another one. My food was so yum and the staff were friendly.
Caitlin Nicolle
Had breakfast there Good Friday! Food was fantastic and lovely friendly service. My favorite place to have breaky!

The best!!!! ❤️️❤️️Totally recommend it for a delicious and moorish brunch.
Claudia Fowler
Honestly worst customer service and my food was cold and a very small portion, i came for lunch not an entree!
Helen Walker
Great food with good variety. Really good coffee and very affordable. Friendly staff as well and pet friendly. Highly recommended

Nice coffee, cakes look amazing. I had the breakfast with the smashed peas. Unfortunately the peas were not cook thoroughly and we touch. Considering they were the "star" of the dish and recommended by the staff, it was disappointing. I will return as some of the dishes coming out of the kitchen looked really delicious.

Great food! We loved the desert and the freshly squeezed juices. We will be coming back, thank you.

Front of house service was ok, but the food.... WOW!!! The lovely chef bought our meal out with a big smile and man, does she cook well! We had the big brekky and it was delicious and just enough. We will be back for another

Wonderful ambience, delightful food and excellent customer service ... what more could I wish for ... Oh, and their iced lattes are awesome!

The food is constantly amazing and the coffee great. Best cafe at Henley!

Popped in on the public holiday monday for coffee. It was one of the few places open so it was busy however, the staff were excellent and the service was good. The coffee was excellent. I've eaten there before and know that the food is great.

They have dropped the ball lately. Still yummy cake and pastries but the coffee very bitter and burnt. <br/>I have really enjoyed coming here over the past few years but I will look for somewhere else now ☹️

Fist impressions, as the weather was very rainy, everyone was crammed inside with the heater blaring. The only spot left was a table shoved next to the toilet door, which hadn’t been cleaned off. I ordered a chai latte and 2 tarts from the display case, The chai was very watery and lacked any flavour other than the cinnamon sprinkled on top and the tarts the white chocolate was edible but the Swedish custard was very eggy almost raw tasting and came on two seperate plates? My friend ordered a cappuccino and a savoury muffin, when it arrived we had to ask for cutlery which was taken from another table. I’ve heard many good things about this place, unfortunately it didn’t live up to my expectations.

Lovely spot of brunch to be had here in Henley Square. It's a cosy, yet funky atmosphere with a nice vibe about the place. Fair amount of outside seating considering the size, just wear suncream on a warm day, and I like that u can even bring the doggies along.<br/>The service was polite and efficient, and the menu was surprisingly great value which was great. I'd be keen to try some more things for sure, but am glad we tried some of the deelish tarts indeed!! This was number one of the 3 locations of Sweedish Tarts so I'll have to see which one is best!! 😉👍

If today's lunchtime visit was our first I would have wondered why reviews have rated this higher and know they have done better - albeit not the best in the area. So much potential to offer so little provided. <br/><br/>What has to happen for an establishment to compete with the surrounding business is to not only provide good food , but also provide great service, friendly exchange (with staff looking like you want to be there), offer value and provide comfortable clean surroundings.<br/><br/>Should not be difficult to serve 2 coffees and heat 2 pre prepared meals from the display and bring them to the table as the norm. Completely forgetting one of those meals is not great form. While waiting and observing the surroundings to find that not only our table but several tables around us have not been cleaned off (we are not talking other dishes but marks and debris of previous diners (hell even Maccas clean down tables).<br/><br/>When the second meal does arrive there is not a word or a smile just.. "Here you are"<br/><br/>Was the food great? - Not really - the coffee was OK but so let down by the rest of it today<br/><br/>Sorry guys - doubt we will be back

One of the best cafe in west beach. Nice coffee, fresh juice, delicous pastry. I like the salted caramel tart, yummy but not that sweet which is make you not feel guilty when you eat it straight away. Their pie also beautiful. The price is not expensive compare to other cafe around. We'd love to come back here and try another foods.

I was recommended to go to this place from one of my mum's friends and I absolutely loved this Cafe. I came to this Cafe with my family today morning.<br/><br/>After looking at the menu for a couple of minutes we finally decided to go for the pot of hot chia(with ginger, lemon and milk), I went for the Dutch hot chocolate. For eating we went for a slice of apple cake and chocolate brownie.<br/><br/>Everything tasted delicious. The highlight for me was the apple cake. It was seriously good, it just melted in my mouth as I was eating it. It really went well with the fresh cream that was provided with it. Brownie tasted heavenly as well, it just melted in my mouth as well. I could not fault the Dutch chocolate either. The only thing I would say is it wasn't sweet enough which is fine. I just put extra brown sugar(that is placed in every table) in my hot choc to make it sweet.<br/><br/>Overall, me and my family enjoyed our experience in this Cafe. Lovely and helpful staff. Also great atmosphere inside the Cafe. I will definitely come back again to this place when I'm back in SA again to their different range of drinks and food. Till then, ciao!<br/><br/>

This place is seriously good. <br/>Everything in their display window looked divine.<br/>We came here for lunch and I forget exactly what it was but it was a veggie burger that I think has haloumi and sweet potato in it. Such a delicious, hearty meal, with great coffee and a brownie slice. <br/><br/>Too damn good. Great location for this place also. <br/><br/>How much I would love to live close by and come here every Sunday for breakfast/lunch.

Really cosy, cute, hipster, all round feel good place! <br/><br/>Such a nice little place with fabulous tarts, nice coffee and a nice menu. Had the lemon cheesecake tart, pretty yum but the lime tart was really yum! Fairly good hot chocolate as well. Service was good, although they need to watch the water jugs as they had little friendly insecty type swimmers floating about! <br/><br/>Would return to try some of the breakfast items as they looked interesting. <br/><br/>Thanks Team!

I really rate the food at Swedish Tarts. Has maybe a little bit of a weird vibe possibly owing to how they give you a block as a table number and it can feel a bit cluttered but it kind of adds to the homeliness. Have had consistently good coffees & cakes from here and finally came for breaky.<br/><br/>I had the muesli which came with some poached pear, cooked down berries, nuts, yoghurt, honey and huge sprig of mint that added so much to it. I would happily eat this again every day of the year for breakfast & might even have to make the trip down again soon just so I can. Left full & happy, chipper staff, by the sea too - how can you be upset.

Have been here for breakfast three times and coffee more than I can count. The food never disappoints and the coffee is the best in Henley. <br/>Great friendly service and funky decor. <br/>

Disgusting, I found a hair and bug in my food. Everything was over priced and the staff were rude, I waited to get served for 15 mins and the food took forever to come out as well. Wouldn't recommend

Weird customer service and unfriendly staff, despite not being too busy, we stood at the door for a full minute without being served, so we had to find our own seats. 5 minutes later, no one came to take our orders or even talk to us. Apparently a lot of people just walk in and have a look before leaving, so maybe this is how they operate. Are Swedish tarts meant to have undercooked pastry? The meringue tasted a bit off. Coffee was strong but a bit too foamy.

Service is good and efficient here. I passed by the shop and saw a delicious range of treats in the window and decided to buy some. I chose the Peanut Butter & Chocolate Tart as well as the Lime Tart. The tart shells are delicious and short. Filling was amazing and flavoursome.

Very busy cafe with cosy seating inside. We tried the Open breakfast with their house made flatbread which was absolutely delicious. Great selection of cakes and tarts for the sweet tooth. Keen to go back again.

Swedish tarts is a busy little cafe located just off Henley beach foreshore. We took some friends over the recent long weekend and chose to go here because we were able to book a table. Cosy inside, it was tricky to fit 6 of us and a pram inside without feeling like we were in the way. However despite this, our food was tasty and served quickly given how busy they were. I had the Swedish crepes which probably needed a little more aioli, my husband ordered the croque Monsieur which was quite small but nevertheless tasty. Usually I would eat dessert as they stock a fantastic selection of cakes, but for this occasion I resisted the urge for a sweet treat.

Unfortunately I have very little positive to say about this place.<br/><br/>Where to begin... <br/><br/>1. Several tables dirty with previous customers cups and plates or just generally not wiped down when we sat (and it was not a peak period, maybe 1/5 full)<br/><br/>2. When we asked for our table to be wiped it was done with a frown and not even done properly<br/><br/>3. No table service at all which is strangely accepted here in Adelaide generally but for the price you pay you'd expect table service<br/> or at least a decent meal (or both), which brings me to...<br/>4. Menu looks OK on the surface with some unique options but the two items we ordered were just bland. Not to mention the small portions. <br/>5. The girl who brought our meals out to the table didn't bring cutlery for us to eat the food with (OK mistakes happen but on the whole the service was lacking in a big way - as mentioned earlier it was not even busy). When we then asked another staff member to provide cutlery, it was as thought we were disturbing him.<br/><br/>The staff in general were cold and it was obvious they had no pride in their work or the will to assist. Not sure how this business' interview process works when they hire staff. You might expect this service from McDonald's perhaps but not when you pay these prices at a supposedly decent cafe.<br/><br/>The only reason anyone would go here is for perhaps the coffee (which I didn't try so cannot comment) or because of the location. Which frankly is not that good anymore anyway.

Had breakfast and lunch at Swedish tarts on different days but both orders wrong!  Try another cafe at Henley until this cafe gets better staff.
Onegreedygirl
This cafe is significantly less amazing than their Semaphore cousin.<br/><br/>The atmosphere isn't as good and the food is lacking. Henley is just a bit of a fail, food-wise.

Have been here on several occasions in the past and it's been great. Came back recently on Sunday and the menu has changed and the food is not at the standard I had been used to in the past. Service was extremely slow, meals took a long time to come out. Not sure if it's under new management, but won't be rushing back here for breakfast. Coffee was good though.
Crab Cakes
We ordered the 'fat pancake' with bacon and loganberry jam and the berry crepes. The food was ok; however, it took ages to come out and the portions were rather small. The coffee was great.

Hard to get a table and a bit of a wait on the food but always delicious and hearty meals. The tarts are the best tarts I've ever had, with delicious genuine fillings there is always a flavour surprise to be had

Love the meals and coffee here. It's almost always packed with customers but it's well worth the wait. By far the best cafe in Henley Beach, there really isn't much competition. Can't wait to come here during summer.Love the meals and coffee here. It's almost always packed with customers but it's well worth the wait. Love it! Very unique feel, food is very different to your usual cafe style however I really enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend to others!

Great place, great location!<br/>Had the smoked salmon crepe and it was delicious! Not overpowered with onion and the smoked salmon was generous. The coffee was pretty tasty too but you can't beat the great location!

The Best coffee in Henley square. Long black served with hot water so it doesn't go cold. Always busy - sometimes a bit of a wait but always worth it. Favourite brekkie: turmeric eggs. @redcandi

More funky than functional.. I live at Henley and had never been into Swedish Tarts til a friend suggested lunch. I found a table for us that had used dishes cups etc on it. Empty handed staff passed it 10 or more times before someone removed it. When I ordered (at the counter) the staff were unable to answer questions about the food. <br/>I love bacon with fruit so I ordered bacon pancaks with lingonberries. No bacon!<br/>I felt it was pointless raising the issue with the harried spacey staff. <br/>Good coffee and great vodka. (Yes that Is a menu item!)

Just what Henley has been missing!. I love Henley but the breakfast options are limited and somewhat dull. I'm so glad Swedish Tarts has arrived to shake things up a bit.<br/>We both had the turmeric eggs which were delicious. Coffee was strong and tasty. By the time we left the place was absolutely chockers - I can see why :)

Great black coffee. Coffee: YUM!<br/>Service: Friendly.<br/>Ambience/Feel: Relaxed.<br/>I have been here on a couple of occasions now. Most recently just for a coffee. Drinking semi-black coffee (black with some milk on the side), I really get to taste the coffee flavour. It was beautifully served and delicious. I can’t wait to come back!

Went for brunch with friends, ordered the blueberry pancake, which arrived undercooked with pancake mix oozing out, was rectified by staff cooking the same pancake
Upsydaisy
The best flatbread. Had the best ever flatbread with ham, cheese, tomato. Also a very fresh fruit salad with good variety of fruit. Yummy milkshakes. Will be back again

I'm so relieved that Swedish Tarts opened a mini version in Henley, it's definitely the kind of cafe that has been lacking in this precinct!

Beautiful location - grab a seat outside if you can! The food tastes fresh and healthy. I had what was essentially a salad of potatoes, onions, carrot, beetroot, sausage and a fried egg which was delicious. Drinks menu is great - the homemade ice teas are very refreshing. I have been here twice over 6 months; once on a weekend and once during the week. I found on my most recent, mid week outing here, that service was on the poor side. Quite a few disinterested staff, who weren't rude, but just seemed a bit lethargic. Nobody seemed to be in charge and little things such as forgetting drinks and giving out dirty cutlery were disappointing. Also, whilst the food is delicious, it's also a little bit too expensive given smaller serving portions. Nevertheless, I will be back.

Awesome early morning breakfast spot.. My partners plane was delayed for an hour and we wanted breakfast somewhere close by. He found this spot on Urbanspoon that was rated highly. We were not disappointed - amazing little breakfast gem. The freshly done mixed berry juice was divine and served in a milk bottle with a straw. A display window of beautiful tarts was adorned with many different tempting flavours. The housemade chai was the best I have ever had in adelaide. Brewed with hot milk and a touch of honey and the lingering cadomon warmth - it was a perfect generous brew. My partner had the crepes with berries which he loved. We were served quickly by lovely staff and were out within half and hour. We left with smiles on our faces and contented bellies.

Love it!!. Went for coffee this morning with a girlfriend at Swedish Tarts it was lovely. Great coffee, good service and the mixed berry muffin moist and light. Great atmosphere

Yum...just Yum. Don't take .... Yum...just Yum.<br/>Don't take my word for it, get down there yourself!

Very cute little place. I was a little confused on how to order. Weather we went to the front or they came to us so we sat around for a bit and watched people. Also a good idea because it have us a chance to peak at all the food. I ordered something along the lines of a breakfast pizza I don't remember what it was called but it was Devine. I enjoyed the fact they juiced their own juices. I had orange and watermelon and was very pleased. Will return time and time again.

Good food, service and great looking place. Go, you won't be disappointed!

There are a handful of cafes and restaurants at Henley Beach.  Swedish tarts was one of them, this one is located just underneath a set of apartments.  I had been to Swedish Tarts down at Semaphore previously and remembered it being really good, so I had high expectations with this one.
