We went there for lunch. It was busy with a Christmas function inside. We sat out on the veranda overlooking the little lake with waterbirds coming and going. Service was very friendly even though they were under the pump. I had the duck confit, my wife had the squid which had generous serving. The duck was just excellent with a sour cherry sauce and apple and walnut salad. Washed down with a glass of local Windy Creek white wine. We went to Windy’s very nice new cellar door off Great northern highway after. Excellent value wines by the case price. A nice afternoon!
The service is great and the view is really nice. I had the garlic bread and the duck and for dessert I had sticky date pudding. They were all delicious and best duck I’ve had in a while. This place is fairly expensive and I think they need bigger portions of food. Apart from that it’s really nice. Make sure you try the sticky date pudding also
The Swan Valley region is one of the best places in WA with it's amazing sceneries and restaurants. And The Mallard Duck is no exception to this rule! Amazing food with some amazing company
Spent a very pleasant lunch here. Service impeccable, atmosphere and outlook very relaxing. We had the Beef and Burgundy pie with chips and salad which was extremely nice. Full of flavour, a generous serving and just perfect for a winters afternoon.
Very enjoyable restaurant and atmosphere. I have dined here a few times now and have been pleased and impressed on all occasions. The manager is very friendly and accomodating. The view from the restaurant is stunning. I have also attended a Wedding here and it was simply beautiful. Staff are very helpful in making the day run smoothly.

Took my wife and 28 people to the Mallard Duck for her birthday and had a wonderful night with the usual high standard of food and service that we have come to expect as regular diners at this venue. It's a great place where only the least happy people would be disappointed with anything. Everyone (but one, theres always one) claimed it was excellent value for money and lashings of good food made it a great night.

The Mallard Duck was the setting for a family celebration of 12 people, and proved to be perfect for all ages. I’d visited here years ago before blogging was even a term anyone recognised, and was surprised to hear that it was still alive and thriving. It obviously has something going for it.
The menu is modern Australian and we all took a while to choose our mains – it’s always a good sign when you can’t decide because the options sound so enticing. A few of our group chose entrees, with the fried camembert being a popular choice. You rarely see this 70s dinner party relic on menus these days, but this version was a hit with its berry coulis and fresh strawberries.
Really good experience!. We sat on the balcony ( would really recommend this on a beautiful day)..service was attentive and personal, food was just lovely...seafood platter was generous and very good. Oh and the wines were affordable and nice(woohoo). Loved been on the lake edge full of happy ducks and a paddock of alpacas nearby too. Would be v happy to go back
Lovely food, lovely view. Have dined here on many occasions. Generally order the share plate along with other sharing type foods and wines. Absolutely delicious every time, great service and well priced. Highly recommended!!
Just finished a sensational lunch at the Mallard Duck. Glorious views and the sun was streaming through the windows. Food was generous in portion, very fresh and very tasty. Couldn't fault any part of the meal from entrée to sweets. Reasonable price. Charming staff that are obliging and ready to help. Will definitely be going back.
Perfect Wedding. My sister got married here just yesterday. What an amazing wedding the incredible owners and staff put on! The food was delicious, appealing and plated beautifully. The staff were lovely too. The owner was around ensuring the bride and groom were happy and looked after the whole time and always available and very approachable. A great time was had by all, and I could not find a single fault with this beautiful venue if I tried. Thankyou so much for making my sister and brother in law's day so special.
I attended a wedding here last night, the ceremony and reception were both held down by the lake. I couldn't be more impressed with this place! The venue is incredibly beautiful, it was set up perfectly. The food was amazing, the service great. A big fuss was made over the bride and groom by the lovely owners who continually made sure everyone was happy. It was the perfect venue for a wedding. Absolutely beautiful. Thankyou!
It was real hot and we were out on the veranda for lunch last Saturday. My advice is that you ensure you're inside unless you know the weather is sunny and in the low 20's. Food was great, service was okay, nice views. Not bad.

The restaurant overlooks a lovely pond and has lovely gardens. Inside the restaurant is quite spacious (room for a pram) and has enough natural sunlight to give it an alfresco feel. Our waiter was polite, friendly and prompt on arrival and throughout our lunch service.
Food:
The platter we ate for lunch was part of our Swan Valley cruise chartered tour which was shared between two people. It included a glass of wine with platter of Warm Chorizo Sausage, Marinated Olives, 2 Lamb Koftas, 4 King Prawns, Salt and Pepper Squid, Chicken and Mushroom Vol Au Vents, & a delicious capsicum dip with flat bread. The lamb kofta was very tasty and squid cooked just right.
Overall:
I would like to dine here again for an a la carte meal.
Excellent lunch experience. There were 12 of us in our party and we all agreed that the lunch-time experience was excellent. The food, the service and the ambiance were all first-class. That and the welcome we received from the owners added up to a day to remember! Anyone that writes a bad review about this place has to have an ulterior motive!!

Spot on food & service!. Six of us went to this lovely place yesterday for girls' lunch and had a great time once more. Very busy on a Sunday lunchtime and therefore a bit of a wait for meals to arrive with several large tables around us (hens' lunch; big family birthday parties). The owner/manager and various wait staff however made a point of checking regularly on our drinks, topping up our water and assuring us that we hadn't been overlooked. This is a small gesture that makes a huge difference if there's a bit of a wait, and we were all impressed. Meals were well worth the wait: generous servings; great presentation; lovely fresh salads with tasty light dressings. My lamb skewers (recommended by a friend who always orders them when she goes) were scrumptious: beautifully tender chunks of tender charred lamb over salad greens with pine nuts, cherry tomatoes, risoni and gorgeous light tasty dressing. Friends had barramundi, (thick & juicy); and calamari (tender, light crispy coating) and all were delighted with their meals. Saved room for desserts and glad we did: crème brulee (yum), lemon meringue, apple & pear crumble and sticky date pud. Although fairly run-of -the-mill standards, these were all beautifully executed and presented. Lovely individual small pots or tarts meant that we came away feeling comfortable & happy, not uncomfortably full!
Wine list is small but adequate and the house wines by the glass were very nice. I would definitely recommend Mallard Duck as the go-to place if you're wanting to show off our Swan Valley to visitors: beautiful setting overlooking large pond with ducks, greenery and the odd alpaca across the water, and of course lovely fresh tasty local food beautifully presented.
Do your self a favour - come here. This is not your typical Swan Valey novelty restaurant. This is a very good value, well run 'good' dining experience.

We had our wedding reception there (20.10.12) and we couldn't be happier with how it went. The owners were very friendly and did everything that we had planned. The food was beautiful, the staff were lovely and the room looked amazing! The gardens are spectacular and the restaurant caters for all (children and wheelchair friendly) I would HIGHLY recommend the Mallard Duck! :-)
Excellent meal and service. We were recommended to dine at the Mallard Duck and were nor disappointed. We enjoyed entree, main and dessert. My husband and I both ordered the lamb kebabs for the main and we both agreed they were melt in the mouth delicious! The staff were attentive and the service was extraordinarliy efficient. The attention of the proprietor to all the patrons was impressive. He was very friendly and anxious that our needs were met. We also enjoyed a bottle of local wine which complimented our meal. Altogether an enjoyable and delicious end to our week and first visit to the Swan Valley region. Highly recommended.
It has it all. Both my wife and I have eatern at the Mallard Duck for breakfast lunch and last Friday for dinner. The transformation that as taken place from the old Mallard Duck to the present one is quite marvellous. the inside is clean and bright and during the day you have a great view of the lake. whilst most of the serving staff are young they have aways treated us with the upmost respect and politeness. The last main meal I had at the Mallard Duck was a sirlion steak which I requested to be cooked medium when I recieved my meal the steak was perfect and also the vegetables. At the end of the main course the owner came up to us and asked if everything was alright. Well in my opinion this is the best way I can answer that question . One last thing on the meal the deep fried camembert is to die for. We have treated 2 of our eastern state friends to experience the Mallard Duck they also enjoyed it. Please Alain & Julie keep up the great work .
Amazing View of the lake. As we walked into this restaurant i thought very out dated old cafeteria chairs like i was in a bowling club just plain boring, in saying that the outside area is very beautiful with a lovely view of the lake.
The food is amazing! which was a big surprise as i was expecting from the decor frozen food but it was far from it very fresh and tasty.
this place could do with a revamp of the inside and some nice back ground music wouldn't hurt other then that view of lake and food 10/10

Great atmosphere. Very inviting after the redevelopment. Food was nice. Good wine selection. Was 42 degree day so i will excuse the hot glass of Pinot I was served (which still tasted great once it cooled down)
Popped in on a Friday for lunch, staff were all very friendly and service was very quick. Had a variety of share plates, standouts were definitely the Pork Belly Bites and Scallops. Korean Hanger Steak was ok and Croquettes were tasty. Was disappointed with the Rosé Spritz but the Rosé was nice. Will definitely be back.
I love this place. Highly reccomend you visit it for a meal during the summer to enhance your experience.
We saw turtles swimming, a llama grazing, ducks around.
On to the food, we had stuffed mushrooms as an entree. Wow! I highly recommend it loved the taste and the bed of sauce it came with.
As a main we ordered;
Fish of the day, that was baked to perfection and presented with sauce, potatoes,carrots and asparagus. Divine is the word I would describe it as.
My husband ordered the duck confit which he described as lovely and that the meat just falls of the bone and is tender.
All in all beautiful restaurant, lovely view, good service and lovely food.
Beautiful location, great spot for a Sunday session. No kids allowed on the weekend so it was a very chilled vibe. Service is quick and friendly as well.
