Great little burger joint. Burgers were juicy and great value. The John Wayne Hot Dog was nice with crispy bacon. Good service and a little extra touch by giving the kids a couple of Hot Wheels cars was great.
Thank Dave!
Love this TOP value shack in the middle of Moorabbins Industrial heart. DJ's would definitely win the Moorabbin burger war if the food was the sole item being judged.
It's true: the burgers are ginormous. My personal fave is the 'Double Dodge' a egg-bacon-meat-repeat feast big enough for a small family ($20 at time of writing, including Fries and a small swimming pool of ketchup. See pic) . It took me two attempts to put this sucker away solo. Everything about this burger was spot on. The accompanying fries were perfect, the beer cold and, well, beery. I know that large meals do not appeal to everyone, but if you take a moment to appreciate the care and effort that 'DJ' has put into creating this concoctions, including the handmade patties, you'll realise that it's not Quantity Vs Quality here. The two walk hand in greasy hand.
The shops fitout is a little less polished than 'Fat Bob's down the road, and best 'go before you go' if you know what I mean (You dont? Well, the outside toilets are hysterically bad). The decor at DJ's is one mans' love letter to his childhood, and the owners own memorabilia collection (Model cars, licence plates, old tyres) makes up the bulk of the stuff crammed into the diner. He's not trying to impress anyone, just to share some of his passions with those lucky enough to walk through the door. If it's Thursday, this includes live music, although I haven't been able to make this event yet.
The staff have been very attentive on our couple of visits, although this may be partially due to the low turnout on a Sunday evening. We bring our young son, and he always walks away with a couple of free matchbox cars from the owners personal stash.
So c'mon eastern suburb dwellers. Help this place take flight and go grab a stonkingly huge burger. I'm starting to get cravings just driving past this place now.
PS To the 'Mack Truck' burger, I'm taking you DOWN next time!
Really liked this little diner, looked the decor and the staff were lovely, we all had burgers of course and they were MASSIVE!! Burgers could have been a bit more seasoned but still very good. Go in hungry and don't expect to eat again for the rest of the day!
Good value and a pleasant experience...... My kids loved the hotdogs so that makes dad a happy man. Will definitely come again and try something else.
Had a great family dinner there tonight. Went early with young kids and the staff were lovely and food was amazing! Great place to go if you're hungry as the servings are very generous and so delicious. Highly recommend!
The first time I went here I had the most amazing burger, but they were still finding their feet with customer service, tills and menu accuracy. They would benefit from experienced front-of-house staff to help maintain their American diner vibe. Excellent place to go if you're hungry because their portions are huge.
Great service and burgers. Burgers come with fries. Beautiful buns and patties. We went in at about 9:30pm on a wet and cold night it was pretty quiet.... Still really good. I got the Ferrari burger which was yum and my partner got the double patty burger. Great kids menu too, next time we'll take the kids. Def go back.
Had an amazing experience! Walked in for a quick feed with 12 friends and we were all satisfied. Great food and service was second to none. Highly recommended to anyone who wants a taste of America!
DJ's Diner and Bar what a great place to eat, the wonderful decorations of memorabilia everywhere you looked something new and exciting. Arriving to a busy period of the night and having to wait 10-mins for a table was worth it! OMG what a burger! I had a Holden burger the flavours were awesome and by the end of the meal I was definitely full to the point of explosion!! I will seriously be back and hungry for more!!!
This is an awesome late night option, when you are feeling hungry, looking for a place to chill out with mates or to have a drink and when we say late night option: this place can stay open until 2am every night (depending on how busy it is).
It was around 9:30pm on a Sunday night when normally most kitchens have been closed for the night, this place was bright and buzzing so I decided to check this place out with a few of the boys.
The interior of the venue is a classic throw back to an old school diner with vinyls and jukebox's as the main theme. The menu is basically American styled burgers named after cars and American styled hotdogs named after famous American celebrities.
We all ordered the regular size burgers, the Holden, the double Dodge and the Lamborghini which all comes with chips!
The double Dodge being so massive with its double beef patty, my mate didn't even attempt to finish it and the chef was very understanding and happy to provide a takeaway container to mate!
The Holden was nice and filling, one of the more simpler burgers on the menu but still very tasty and the Lamborghini is similar to the Holden behave expect for the ranch dressing and the avocado.
This place is a great late night spot, when you are looking for a feed or a place to catchup! It's awesome to see some solid direct competition to Fat Bobs!
My Burger was delicious! A huge beast! It looked as good as it tasted, home made patty lovingly assembled. The kids burger was tasty too. Would recommend to steer clear of the kid's nuggets.....looked like processed stuff.
The chips were well seasoned and yummy, the Hot Dog good a good review too.
The decor is fun too. Much to look at!
We will be back for sure.
Loved it! Finally a place to rival Fat Bob's down the road. I'd go so far as to say it does a better job. I actually felt like I had stepped into Jack Rabbit Slims from Pulp Fiction.
Had the Holden Burger, was great. Menu has everything for everyone.
Been there twice now and both the service and the food has been great. Only tried the burgers so far, but they are quite delicious. Has a nice american diner style atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out if you are a local.
Great food, great decor. ( restrooms need attention )
DJ's Diner & Bar, all I can say is WOW.
The atmosphere here was just phenomenal, the food was absolutely beautiful (however...very big so make sure you bring an appetite, the "Holden" burger was my weapon of choice) and the staff were just lovely.
The Owner has truly thought of everything, including awesome mini juke boxes on the table which my 6yr old daughter just loved.
Fabulous Restaurant...we will certainly be back.
The food was awesome the portions were truly American size and tasted great, the service was great with the owner explaining the theme and all to us. Also the décor is amazing, I didn't even come across such a well themed diner in America!
Great place to eat before dancing. Meals are huge good value for your money. Pleasant atmosphere famtastic music.
I am giving a five star review on behalf of my friend who doesn't have a google account.
Question: can you dance here? What kind of music is planned?
Awesome atmosphere with a great display of collectibles and a working arcade machine the burgers were great and the waitress was very friendly we loved our experience we will definitely be back
Love this place! Have been twice now. Food is great. Owners are super nice. And the place is decked out incredibly! Super atmosphere.
