Been wanting to try HB for a while, so many of my friends rave about how amazing it is! Today. Point proven I had the Queen B with a side of bacon mmmmmmm yum!!!!! Very excited to go back and try something else from the delicious menu
Love the story behind the shop and loved the friendly service, delicious food and coffee just as much. Next time we're in town we'll definitely be returning!
I had the Blonde Panookie. Man am I glad I found this place! I had no idea what a panookie was (it's a cookie in a mini skillet, heated, served with other delicious things, like ice cream, on top).
I'd definitely go again.... In fact, I think I might as I only have one day left in Tassie!! Don't think I can get a panookie in Perth
Wonderful ambiance, great food, friendly staff, didn't have to wait too long for our food!
One of the better cafes I've been to :)
My favourite cafe in Hobart; extensive menu, lovely staff, and just all round gorgeous place.
First time visit to Honey Badger and we loved it... beautifully presented and lovely fresh fruit. The blonde panookie was good but expect a sweetness overload. Lol. Coffee was smooth and creamy. If you are tossing up between San Churros and Honey Badger... for me Honey Badger hands down.. yum yum yum
Amazing food, and fast service! The staff are all so lovely too, highly recommend!
What an amazing atmosphere, staff were fantastic and food Devine can’t wait to meet friends there again
Thank you so much it was great we really enjoyed and highly recommend
Blonde panookie and sticky date yum yum yum!
Excellent desert and food.Artistic decoration and very delight atmosphere
A must do if down Salamanca way. Simply superb food and beverages with fast and friendly service.
Great staff very friendly- Fabulous Deserts and coffee.
Will definitely go there again.
Absolutely loved this place...best apple crumble ive ever had
Great hot chocolate, breakfast pancakes, desserts & coffee!
Great place for some good waffles. Lovely ambience with great and attentive staff! The waffles were pretty good; soft yet had a good bite to it, and had a lovely buttermilk taste. The ice cream was the sticky kind which I liked, and was not too sweet, pairing well with the fruits and the waffles.
We were seated promptly and the waitress let us know when a table was available inside. Friendly service all around, and very pretty desserts!
A spontaneous trip to Tassie, we only had little time to get around the food scene. Feeling peckish for a dessert, we popped into Honey Badger and what a fabulous decision that was.
What we ordered:
New York Cheesecake
Panookie (cookie in a pan)
The New York cheesecake was a decadent cheesecake full of chocolate without the sick cheesecake feeling. It is a dessert we’d fly back for.
The Panookie was delicious! A cookie lover, I couldn’t fault it! The marshmallow on top gave the cookie a softer texture & provided that sugary finish.
We’ll come back one day!
What a pretty sight! I ordered the Kyoto Holiday which was Belgian waffles, Japanese red bean paste, Matcha custard sauce, whipped cream, green tea ice cream, sesame and green tea cookie crumbs. I even tried Black Sesame latte, which came with soy milk, for the first time. It strongly tastes of sesame and was a good experience.
I ordered one Queen B which included a set of pancakes (up to 3 pieces) and fulfilled with fruits. Very tasty. Can fulfill up to 2+ people for this dish.
Price: A$18
This place is just such a treat to have in Hobart. All the people who run it seem to love what they are doing and it's great to have a non-alcoholic place to hang late night. Would love to see a few more Breakfast/Brunch options eg Eggs Benedict then I would eat here every week.
We went to Salamanca Market and found a cute dessert shop. It was very colorful and perfectly located close to University where students can hang out and do their assignments.
We ordered:
Kyoto Holiday - Belgian Waffles, Japanese Red Bean Paste, Matcha Custard Sauce, Whipped Cream, Green Tea Ice Cream, Sesame & Green Tea Cookie Crumbs $17.50
Banoffee - Deconstructed, Caramelised Banana, Chocolate Toffee Sauce, Oats & Nut Crumbs, Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, Mascarpone & Caramel Cream $12.50
Banana Roti - Caramelised Banana, Pan Fried Butter Roti, Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, Sea Salted Caramel Sauce, Condensed Milk, Toasted Coconut $14.00
Forbidden Cheesecake - Baked Chocolate Cheesecake, Mascarpone & Caramel Cream, Hazelnut Toffee Brittle, Chocolate Sauce, Chocolate & Salted Caramel Beads $14.50
The highlights were Banana Roti and Banoffee, they were tasty and had rich taste!
It wasn’t too sweet
Forbidden Cheesecake and Kyoto Holiday were not our liking.
We couldn’t taste the creamy taste from cheesecake and Red bean didn’t work quite in the Kyoto Holiday.
It’s slightly pricey for a considered small portion; desserts were nicely presented and the customer staffs were friendly.
Great spot for a dessert lovers!
Taste: 3.5
Service: 4.0
Trip to Tasmania meant trying this dessert bar out! We tried the skillet cookie- so rich and decadent, but insanely good. Everything balanced each other out, truely an amazing meal.
Cosy and warm outside next to the gas heater. People everywhere - this place is popular. Menu looks delish! Sadly only got room for one dessert. Several GF options so I am happy.
Stopped by for dessert after dinner, our friend who lived locally took us and we enjoyed the panna cotta Kyoto holiday and sticky rice as well as the sesame latte. Great selection of desserts, be sure to check out the specials board at the counter.

We enjoyed Honey Badger so much, that on our weekend getaway to Hobart we had to visit twice! The dessert dishes were presented in the most lovely, instagram-worthy manner, yet they also tasted delicious! The fruity french toast was packed with an assortment of fresh fruits which provided a tangy break from the sweetness of the berry covered ice cream, cream and maple syrup and the whipped feta proved the highlight of the savoury pancakes! Definitely worth a visit whether it is for breakfast, brunch or dessert!

Perfecto.....the chai custard...to die for, The waffle and pancake...perfect, The black rice..yummm, Lady serving...omg super patient...amazing dessert experience
We had the vanilla Panna cotta with berries. The Panna cotta had a really nice wobble and the berries complimented it perfectly thus not making it an overly sweet or heavy dessert. It was quite busy on a Sat night but the service was still quite fast.
Indulging dessert parlour at Salamanca Place with cozy ambience. Hot choco came with 2 marshmallows. The Blonde Panookie was a warm choco chip & peanut butter cookie, baked toasted marshmallows, caramel fudge ice cream, orange blossom fairy floss, and salted caramel beads. Worth a try!
I would say this is my favourite place by far in Hobart for desserts. Best thing about this place is it’s open till late so you don’t have to rush. The desserts we had were outstanding. We visited this place twice while we were in Hobart. It is situated right behind the main Salamanca street and is lovely. A must visit place while you are in Hobart.
Service - 4/5

Foodwise, it was amazing! The brownie itself was soft and gooey and the chocolate sauce surrounding it was to die for. Not too sweet but rich enough as a perfect pairing with the brownie. The matcha waffles was also another hit. The matcha ice cream is one of the best we've ever had - even comparing to those in Asia! The red bean was a bit too sweet for our taste but not enough for it to be overpowering. Matcha latte, as expected, was also great! It was strong in matcha flavour with a slight bitterness that defines matcha.
Also we greatly appreciate the staff's welcoming and kind service. There was a misunderstanding with one of the orders but they were happy to immediately change it and it came out very quickly too. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Hobart!
My friends and I visited Hobart and we were searching for a place to have a dessert. Then, we decided to visit this lovely place, Honey Badger. We ordered the panookie and waffles. Both of them are so delicious. We really love it!
We also love the ambience and the interior of the cafe. This place is definitely a perfect place for a dessert stop!
Over indulged to the max here but it was sooooo good. Ordered a mocha and a big waffle dessert to share. Big portion sizes and reasonably priced. We went out for dinner and came here afterwards. No regrets 😎
A friend and I decided to have brunch here after out visit as Salamanca Market. We shared the Queen B pancakes and the Badger Balls...both dishes were of generous portions. I found the meatballs slightly dry for my liking. We got a matcha latte and a honey bush tea. Lovely cafe to chill in a casual setting just in front of Salamanca square.
The best sticky date pudding of my life. The ginger really added to it. Wish we were staying longer in Hobart so that we could come back! :)
So beautiful and delicious. I like all of the dessert I have ate. Especially the first one. It's light and delicate. Highly recommend this dessert shop.
We've ordered Mushroom Ragu, Ham & Cheese, Tuna Melt and Caprese, and they're absolutely delicious! The toast was very soft and the portion was generous! I will definitely recommend this cafe to anyone visiting Hobart, the rating should be at least 4.5+
If the savory menu is this good, I look forward to trying the sweet ones! Very friendly staff, love the environment too! These are just bonuses when the food are so good :) keep it up!!
A lovely place to stop by for a sugar hit. Visited Honey Badger with 8 people and they were happy to accommodate us. We ordered a wide range of food and drink between us and everyone was pleased with what they got. The sticky date was hard to finish as it was so sweet, however the panookie and matcha panna cotta went down a treat. The matcha panna cotta in particular was the perfect balance of sweet and bitter, with every piece of garnish a little surprise to each mouthful. We also ordered some of the popping sodas which were tasty but just way too sweet, although this could have been because it was paired with desserts.

Honey badger gets full points on location, service and ambiance. The simplistic yet stylish cafe is very welcoming and serves some delicious looking desserts.
Unfortunately couldn't try a whole lot of food but did stop by to try their black panookie! A little overpriced but delicious never the less. The brownie was well cooked albeit a little too sweet. Loved the way the panookie was served.
This a a lovely place to be especially on a cold night where you really get looked after with good food and the staff come out with blankets for everyone and turn on the gas heater they make you feel at home well done guys.😀
Food 2.0: sooooo good! Love love the matcha waffles! Not too sweet & not too bland. Waffles could be crispier! 😋
Decor 1: cute modern decors
Service 1: not a table service but overall is good 😊
Amazing place for a delicious dessert. Staff so nice apart from make you feel just a tad unwanted it you walk in 30 minutes before their kitchen closes. However their desserts are great and have so many options for all people with allergies and dietary requirements.
If you want dessert- this is the place to go. Interesting dessert menu.
I got the white bookie which not only looked amazing but was so tasty and despite what you might think was actually quite light and not a really heavy dessert.
Great service and staff, would visit again.
I love coming here when I'm traveling to Hobart. Great location right in the beautiful Salamanca. All the deserts I have tried are rich in flavour but not sickly rich. It is a very busy place however.
Can't wait to come back here.
Ate lovely desserts here on 3 visits, for dessert and breakfast ;)
I'm a sucker for a creme brulee and the matcha one here was very good. The sticky date was just as it should be, lathered in decadent dark sauce. The smores dish was extremely hot but once it cooled a little the moist choc cookie base was delicious and went so well with the icecream and toasted marshmellow. For breakfast it was waffles with matcha icecream, matcha dust and matcha sauce with red beans - the red bean was fresh and so delicious. Service is efficient.
Went around the last hour of the day, and it was still pretty crowded! It was a chilly night and we had two desserts. Lovely presentation and I'm a sucker for sweet things so it was amazing!
Great dessert - somewhat slow coming out but it was very busy. Also, doesn't do lists so be prepared to wait if its crowded. Great location in a very picturesque town square.
Popped in for afternoon tea.
Cool and calm decor. Yummy deserts.
Got the banana roti.
Bananas were caramelised with a crispy toffe crunch.
Ice cream was delicious.
Could have used a bite mire condensed milk.
Also while the roti where nice and flaly they were more like puff pastry layers than fall apart roti layers that weve had at some other cafes.
Overall lovely place and food
Stopped in for a coffee and ended up staying for lunch. The food has a bit of a hipster vibe about it, but oh your god it's delicious. If you're watching your weight, prepare to watch it increase just a little bit. I promise it's totally worth it. Service was the friendliest we experienced in all of Tasmania, and that's saying something, as it's probably the friendliest place on earth.
Matcha latte had a good flavour and was not sweet nor too milky. Blondie panookie was good too; the ice cream didn't have a strong peanut butter flavour but overall the sweetness of the ice cream and torched marshmallows complimented the cookie batter.
Among the things we ordered, the matcha brûlée is hands-down the best🙌🏼 I've never tasted a matcha brûlée done so well before so if you're a matcha fan pls do order this! The matcha latte was not bad, as well as the dark hot choco. The 'sugar and spice' waffle was alright. Would love to come back and try more but unfortunately we're just here for vacation. Overall great experience and a lovely desert place in Hobart.
Excellent dessert. Very unique and I love it. The coffee is good as well. Combine the dessert and coffee? It make the day.
Staff were really nice, service was quick. We had tapioca pudding, banoffe, berry bang bang, and kyoto holiday. Our fav would be the tapioca pudding. This is one of a good place if you are looking for a delightful dessert in the heart of the city
Another little bite from the archives, back when in Hobart land and I needed a sweet treat in the early evening. Honey Badger is right next to Salamanca Place and has great hours for an otherwise sleepy town and it had a youthful buzz about it as well with modern and clean lines in the fittings. A sweet little spot for a rest stop for sure.
Didn't except Tassie has such an amazing cafe where located in the heart of Hobart
As soon as I walked into shop i loved it so much as staffs were so friendly gave us a warm welcome and service was efficient
Food was delicious with great presentation
It's totally complete my trip in Tassie
The Panna Cotta was amazing & a must have dessert. It was relatively cheap & great quality. The service was also super fast. Would definitely recommend.
Upon arrival my initial impression was relatively good. Although there was a line and no available seats inside the waitress was very friendly and helpful in finding us a seat indoors.
Ordered the 'Happy Tummy' which was essentially waffles, icecream and fruit. Overall, I was very impressed with the appearance of the dish and taste. I was rather disappointed with the price. The dish only came with 2 tiny pieces of waffles. Definitely not worth $16, unless simply paying for aesthetics.
Serving is big and I do recommend to
share one between two as serving is quite big and sweet too. The banana roti was a hit. Suitable for any gathering. Great service.
Travellers all must visit! We went to Hobart for a three day holiday and visited Honey Badger three times! Twice for breakfast and once for dessert, it was that amazing and so were the staff and the whole decor and atmosphere of the place, just made you want to keep going back. They're queen B stack is definitely a must as well as the home made ice tea! I wish we had a honey badger in Victoria!
Honey Badger is an awesome place to enjoy a treat. :) The tapioca pudding is AMAZING! So delicious. Wish I could have another right now!The pancakes were lovely and fluffy.
I'd like more fruit with the pancakes and pannacotta, but still good.
Sometimes a little loud inside because it's usually full but worth a visit. :) Coffee is okay.
We were here after dinner yesterday for some desserts, it was my first time and I was surprised to see the amount of crowd this place attracts on weekends. Place was bustling with people all age. Since it was my first time I wanted to play it safe so I ordered a brownie sunday and it showed up minutes after the order well yes it doesn't take much to scoop out ice cream on a brownie but given that the place was so crowded I was impressed with their speed of service. But the brownie was tough and dry and the plate too hot that it turned ice cream into milkshake as soon as it fell on the plate and it had a very small amount of chocolate sauce or may be the dry brownie absorbed it all. Over all not very happy with the dessert but might go back to give them another shot.
Went to Hobart for a little holiday with my family and I wanted to find a nice place to eat dessert after our dinner. After finding out this dessert place was nearby we had to give it a go! The environment was amazing, the staff were so friendly and happy to recommend what to order and the vibe was just perfect. EVERYTHING we ordered was amazing! 💯 Definitely wish I could go back.
We also got a serve of the Kyoto Holiday waffles, that came with green tea custard, sweet red bean paste, pistachios, cream and green tea ice cream. Absolutely completely delicious… It was really hard to narrow down the menu to this one, and I have no regrets! I’d highly recommend it!
During my recent long weekend trip to Hobart with my mum, we stayed in Salamanca Place; a charming precinct filled with sandstone buildings which have been converted to restaurants, galleries and shops. On Saturdays, it's also home to the famous Salamanca Markets. . One place I kept walking past and just had to check out was Honey Badger, an adorable dessert cafe. A casual spot with plenty of outdoor seating and cute furnishings; it seems to be a popular place to get dessert after dinner.
Came here one night for emergency desserts and was super impressed by the amazing array of tooth-decaying treats!
Had the pannacotta which was light and absolutely divine with a surplus of berries showcasing the famed Tasmanian local produce! Also nicked a few nips of my friend's white chocolate cookiedough based dessert, not too much, just about I dunno, half of it while she was in the bathroom.
As usual, signing off with no regrets whatsoever. I'll definitely be back for more!! !
Not too bad. Good range of desserts, and the drinks aren't bad. Between us we had most of the menu, and it came out very well presented. Price wise it was reasonable.
Afternoon stroll around Salamanca, found this awesome spot for a refresher.
I had the Hello Grumpy smoothie, my counterparts had an iced choc and a Passionfruit Pop Soda- all amazing. The staff were incredibly friendly!
Now, to return to try the food....
Amazing! Chocolate is delicious. Nuff said. Some quirky desserts available. But the hot chocolates are excellent. Chocolate heaven was mouth-wateringly good. Service was great
Fantastic food, great range of desserts that are very reasonably portioned and priced! A must visit if you are ever in Hobart! My favorite was the brownie, see picture :)
Located at Salamanca Place near Smolt, this cafe serves brunch as well as dessert menu.. Went here after a light lunch, we decided to order their Thai Tea Panna Cotta.. It wobbled like a jelly but the texture was so velvety smooth. The thai tea flavour was strongly infused to the coconut and cream panna cotta.. Each spoon was silky and went so well with the creamy coconut fudge ice cream and the crunchy peanut and cashew crumble
Nice place in Salmanca Square. Was Friday night and Saturday night, quite busy. Had the bread and butter pudding on Friday night and the sticky date and apple crumble on Saturday night they were outstanding. Decent prices too!
Lovely cafe. It is a perfect way to finish a date or girls night. All the desserts we saw looked amazing, and the bread pudding was delicious.
Delicious deserts!!! The banana roti was awesome - very sweet. We got a few deserts to share between four people and left happily satisfied.
Honey Badger desserts are plain and simple comfort food. They're not high end restaurant and neither are they pedestrian cake. The menu is a combination of American traditions and some Asian-inspired creations. Plates are good old fashioned fun, enjoyable and beautifully constructed. They also make everything in house including the fluffy pillow-like marshmallows and brownies.
First stop in Hobart. We were looking for good coffee and a nice #treatyoself breakfast. And this place hit a home run!! The bacon maple pancakes were to die for. Luckily we fit in a few hours of hiking afterwards!!
Good place for a nice quick breakfast and is open quite late, perfect for those looking for something sweet after dinner. Workers here are very friendly.
Somewhat limited menu but everything on it sounds incredibly appealing. I had a Hello Grumpy smoothie and matcha brulee. Both were great, every bite of the brulee was smooth and creamy. The portion sizes are quite small for the price. Great atmosphere with modern décor.
Had both the Banana Roti and the Chocolate Heavan.
Banana Roti: the pan fried banana roti goes really well with the coconut fudge icecream. Definitely worth the price.
Chocolate Heava: definite must try for chocoholics!
Grapefruit Green Tea was the perfect drink to wash down everything. Not very expensive... awesome food.. and good service! A solid 5 rating for sure!
I know this restaurant from instagram! Then I had decided to visit this place during my vacation in Hobart. I was lost in Salamanca, but I was glad I finally found this hidden restaurant. I went here for breakfast, and I cant decide what to eat. Then, the friendly staff suggested me to have Queen B pancake which was awesomely extraordinary delicious. The fruits were really fresh. The strawberry was sweet and not sour at all. I really love it. Moreover, the hot chocolate was warmed me in the cold weather. The good thing about this place is that it opens until night, so you can come here at anytime, unlike any other brunch restaurant in Melbourne which closes at around 4pm. Hopefully, someday I'll be back to Hobart and visit this place again :")
Went on wednesday night, place was really Busy. The staff were really cheerful and smiled throughout, providing good customer service during the process. The berry bang bang had many elements to it, very intricate and tasty. The green tea sesame roti was pretty good too, if you like your green tea. Coffee was ok and iced coffee was strong flavoured. Good find all in all.
Visited on a Saturday night, very busy and had to wait a little... But you can't blame a restaurant for that. The brownie and the "blondie" were both pretty good, the brownie was quite good actually. And all of the desserts that were carried past also looked rather appetising. There was a bit of a wait for the food given how busy it was, but the staff were apologetic and friendly.
After my first visit to Honey Badger and the discovery that there was more than one hot chocolate on offer, last Friday I went back. It was a very late afternoon tea plan that turned into dessert before dinner (what an awesome idea!), mainly because Honey Badger do not open until 5pm and because sometimes you have to turn things upside down and shake them a bit.
Hobart has a great new dessert café tucked in Salamanca Square, Honey Badger, and it’s exciting! After dinner on Friday night, rather than sticking around the restaurant we were at for dessert, clever Kathleen had made a booking at Honey Badger for dessert. Such a great idea – have dinner then walk to dessert (if only our restaurant had not been just around the corner this would have been just the exercise we needed to ‘make room’!). Although we were about 45 minutes early for our booking, we were able to get our table early and warm up inside (must have been a balmy 3 or 4 degrees outside, so it was not like we were freezing or anything).
Totally loved this place! Their matcha is to die for. We got the Kyoto Holiday and the Apple Crumble and they both were so delicious! A must have in Tassie.
There are so many delicious things on this menu that I didn’t know where to start! The Choc Chip Panookie was great and can be shared if you don’t want to eat too much. The service was quick and the staff were very friendly!
Beautiful desserts. Shame they have removed a few things from the menu but there was still plenty of delicious items to choose from.
Food was nice. Good menu. But a bit disappointed with staff that day. But totally understanding of short staff these time. Will come back
The best Apple crumbles and beautiful brownies. Had to fly from Brisbane to try them. But coffee back home is still unbeatable.
Lovely place to enjoy a coffee with a waffle or pan cake, food is well presented, cool atmosphere, they have few savoury dishes too which are served all day. Service could get pretty slow during the day .
Get in my belly! Terrific spot for dessert. I had the 'Oh my Pumpkin!' (pumpkin pudding, coconut bechamel & sesame praline) and it was sensational. Do yourself a favour . . . 😋
