We called in fior a late lunch on Thursday. It was beautiful! Wonderful service with friendly staff and the yummiest seafood. My husband enjoyed their stout too. Will be returning 👍
Barilla Bay Oysters is a must to come when we're around Hobart.
This was our 3rd time to visit it.
I believe their signature dish is Chillie Mussels.
Freshness, quality and good service are the features of this restaurant.
You're doing great!
We had our wedding there on the weekend. The staff, food & venue were absolutely incredible. We had so many comments! Highly recommend. Brogan, Kayla & David are AMAZING!
creamy, fresh and sizable oyster with a very good price, probably the must-visit place in tasmania....
Very lovely place with an easy distance from Hobart. Would be even better if we can get into water to feel the oysters. The oysters was good. Taz Oysters better than Sydney Rocks.
Oyster with shallot vinaigrette was one of the best oyster dishes I ever had in my life.
Amazing experience, staff very friendly and the oysters where delicious!!
We loved the oysters and couldn't get enough! The staff were lovely and welcoming. Would highly recommend this place!
OMG those oysters were sensational
Recommend this place to anyone visiting Tassie.
I don't like oysters, but I loved it here!! Great food and great staff who know their stuff! A+
Would highly recommend this place. The food is fresh and beautifully prepared. Fantastic service!
We went on a very interesting tour and learnt a lot about oysters and abalone. The oysters were delicious!
Can't speak much for the restaurant upstairs but we got the dozen pack of oysters for $16 takeaway and they were absolutely delicious! Would absolutely recommend giving them a go.
Restaurant upstairs was lovely.
The food was delicious and the staff were very attentive and accomodating regarding slight changes. good wine list.
ordered the seafood chowder as a main and oh my lord it was amazing 🙏🏻 . oysters were also amazing, really fresh and creamy. Would definitely recommend if in Tassie 👌🏻
Oh my word Oysters Galore!!!!! What a beautiful way to enjoy an Oyster or two!!!! And please please try the Affogato this hands down has to be the best ever I have had absolutely to die for. You can see our friends enjoyed the flounder
Service was a wee bit lacking so hence the score but so very glad we went here to celebrate hubby’s birthday !!! Would definitely recommend!!!!

Seems to be a must go to place in tassie. Oysters are amazingly fresh, good variety of sauce. I was pleasantly surprised by the chocolate brownie, crunchy out, nice and moisted inside, perfect way to complete a nice dinner upon our arrival.
I always come back here when I visit Tassie because it's too good to miss. Sadly I never come on time for the bistro upstairs. The oysters are the star of the show here.
Tasty fresh oysters straight from the bay. Nice views from the restaurant, eat in or take away your fresh oysters and enjoy! Say hello to the rooster while your there
Saturday lunch. No booking but promptly and politely shown to table by window with magnificent outlook over the water.
Short but thoughtful wine list showcasing some of Tasmania's great wines. All very affordable.
Started with oysters which were excellent. Sword fish and the Whitebait for mains. Beautifully prepared and served.
Friendly and courteous staff.
Located close to the airport, it's perfect for a quick meal prior to your flight. Oysters are cheaper downstairs in the cafe if you want it natural, upstairs restaurant provides options of dressing/cooking.
The only place that sells a dozen of Tasmanian oysters for $12.90 (that we know of). In town, we asked locals where they get their oysters and they would tell you to buy them from the dock, but they are $14 for HALF dozen!!! They also say that they don't have a fish market that they buy the (overpriced) fish from the dock- really? Anyhow their oysters. I guess its to do with being shacked already and lost most of the sea water, we thought coffin bay oysters were so much nicer😆
'Best & freshest oysters I've ever eaten in my entire existence' is how good these oysters are. Have tried out a few seafood restaurants that offer oysters and this was by far the freshest and juiciest oysters me and my family have had. Much regrets for not ordering 3 dozens which costs you $79 only. Besides that, the fresh & big scallops were fried to crisp perfection, alongside with tempura battered oysters which were seasoned and fried really well. The risotto and seafood chowder were great but slightly too salty to our liking.
Good service and great ambience - you get a beach and mountain view at level one. Overall great experience and think it's a must-go when you come to Tasmania.
First stop from the airport. Dozen oysters $17.50 downstairs serve yourself. Plastic plate plastic forks. If you don't mind the presentation and lack of service. It's good value for fabulous fresh oysters. Double the price upstairs with a couple of dipping sauces and waiter service. Washed down with a glass of crisp white.
Surrounded by water, Tasmania is renown for its seafood. Tasmania’s first people gathered shellfish of our beautiful coastlines: abalone, mussels and oysters. Abalone on a menu is rarefied. Mussels usually come with pasta. But oysters, oysters you’ll find on any self-respecting menu in Tasmania.... The restaurant has a modern bistro feel. There’s no great intimacy but there is a 180-degree view.Hooray! There’s a lot more than oysters on the menu. Lovely chose the grilled squid salad for $16, an attractive and contemporary take on a restaurant standard with the addition of the striking squid ink aioli and pickled golden baby beet.
A delicious experience!! Googled oyster joints in hobart and this was the first place that popped up on google. Further research i found that they have a restaurant and retail-store where you can buy local produce and oysters to packaged for your flight back home in our case Melbourne!
Restaurant - service was good. Could be a little bit better perhaps a smile from the girls? Food wise delicious! We ordered the champagne oysters, pork belly and scollop pie. Good size serving and decent pricing. We were recommended to make a booking but there wasnt that many people when we were there so perhaps just a slow day due to it being winter and all..
Retail store - we got there around 2 and they only had about 10 dozen oysters left and we managed to grab 8 for $11.90 a dz and a $10 box to checked in to our luggage. Oysters were fresh but a but on the small side??
Unfortunately we were unable to see the aquarium due to it being non peak season... Hopefully next time we can drop by again!!!
If it's oysters you're after it's oysters you'll get. Fried, natural, killpatric, they've got it all! The oysters were not the greatest I've ever eaten but the chowder was very satisfying. The service was fine and the atmosphere was ok too. Nice for a change and a stop in the highway!
We ordered the oyster platter for the two of us which was an awesome way to taste different toppings with our oysters. We also got the wonderful chowder soup and fries as a side which was crispy and delicious. Would recommend it. Price was fair and we were happy customers
Saw so many different ways to prepare oysters that I cannot imagine, even though I don't agree with 'water melon & vodka' but still the platter worth a try
BEAUTIFUL :). Wow , what a beautiful restaurant , great views with brilliant service and the freshest best quality food u can imagine at a fair price . Wld highly recommend this restaurant , enjoy :)
Best oyster kilpatrick in Australia. The fish and chips were average and look better than they taste but these guys really know how to do oyster kilpatrick. The balance of flavour is just spot on.
FRESH OYSTERS. Barilla Bay, they specialised in fresh oysters, I'm not a fan of anything raw, but I must admit these Oysters were sweet and fresh from the shell. I recommend getting the dozen in the box as it was only $11, the other dozen with lemon & sauce on a plate was about $17, why would you pay more for the same thing?
Oysters like no other. The "Shucking Awesome Oyster Platter" is a must for anyone who enjoys slipping down those creamy little blobs of goodness. Can't stop bragging about them. Their house made sourdough is divine, went perfectly with the oysters and wine. Nice view over the water too. Service could do with a bit of polishing, as our waitress spilt the wine down both our glasses and onto the table...
Can't wait to come back for the seafood platter!! (*_*)
Great oysters!. We had the 30 oysters and they were so yummy!! Best I've ever had!
Mussels were good, nothing special, and the entree scallops ok, but not something I would recommend
Yummy Gnocchi. It's at a convenient location close to the airport. Seems it's easy to bring home some fresh oysters.
The food are OK, they nail the gnocchi which is excellent !
The fish, mussel and oyster are on par but not really standout for me.
FInally, if the staff would smile more and showing enthusiasm then I would more appreciated. Also suggest them to clean the window more often as it's not nice to have lot of bird's dropping just close to your table.
DELICIOUS. We had the oyster platter and really enjoyed the variety of toppings.
Beatiful corn bread with oil. This was a filling meal for two!
Menu looked fantastic but had heard about the oysters so our minds were set.
Window table looking over the water.
Service was very good, young women doing a fine job.
Gourmet shop attached with great Tassie products.
Great oysters. Very enjoyable. Good to stop on way to airport.
Good but not great - definitely go here for the oysters, they were worth the trip on their own. The rest of dinner was not up to that same level. Salmon in Asian Broth was very nice but fish of the day was a bit basic and nothing to write home about. Service was friendly, efficient and helpful.
Fantastic setting and oysters were delicious. Service was fine and the waitress was attentive. Clearly they have improved service from the other posts. Highly recommend.
Good lunch. The restaurant seems to need some love and attention as the site is great and the food is very good and the wine list satisfactory. Hooray, no musak!
What a treat.... Instead of heading straight into town after alighting from the airport - make a detour to Barilla Bay. You will not get disappointed. It's barely 5 minutes from the airport and they renovated the whole place compared to what it used to be. A shed to buy the freshest oysters straight from the farm. Yep you are at an Oyster farm and they have decked it out and the food is fantastic. By that I mean the Oyster Platter. Wouldn't eat anything else when at an Oyster farm just much on the freshest oysters. The service was great, so was the view from the restaurant and the morsels were delectable, uncooked and cooked to perfection.
...I'm not a fan of anything raw, but I must admit these Oysters were sweet and fresh from the shell. I recommend getting the dozen in the box as it was only $11, the other dozen with lemon & sauce on a plate was about $17, why would you pay more for the same thing?
