Review Mother India - Hobart

A nice Indian restaurant in Tassie! As a vegetarian with dietary requirements, I love restaurants who can cater to this. We ordered their Kashmiri naan, aloo baigan and veggie masala. All came out delicious and nicely seasoned. The staff were also very friendly and attentive.

One of my friend suggested me to try out this place. So, thought of ordering food here and has experienced one of the worst feeling ever. I have placed a pick up order for Goat curry which is dry and sour. In addition to that, I have called them to ask the goat curry ordered was not spicy at all and the veg- Manchurian is tasteless, the chef started yelling out at the front staff who picked up my call, that I am covid positive and that’s why I couldn’t get the taste of the food. This is ridiculous and I have never seen such a kind of management, if they want the customers to be repeating and happy with their service they need to change their attitude towards the customers and then try to make food which is delicious. I recorded all conversations of that . Not going to recommend at all. At last I felt I they deliberately want the customers to be unhappy with their service.. Don’t ever try this πŸ‘ŽπŸ»πŸ‘ŽπŸ»πŸ‘ŽπŸ»πŸ‘ŽπŸ»πŸ‘ŽπŸ» Thanks

My experience with mother India Restaurant is really good. I visited this restaurant so many times and every time I felt highly satisfied from the food and the service they provided was excellent. Last night I organised my birthday party in this restaurant and everyone praised about the food it was really awesome. I want to say it is the best Indian restaurant in Hobart. If you guys want real taste of Punjabi food please go there. Highly recommend to everyone.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Sadly no accountability to mistake. I was on a road trip and decided to order to some takeaway. Reached home and found the order was wrong. Called them immediately which was 15 minutes before closing time. No one picked up the call. Next day I was on my way to the next destination on my trip and threw the wrong order in bin as I'm vegetarian. Called them and all response I got was bring back the food which I did takeaway the day before and take the right order. I mean you're kidding right we're not talking about a physical product here it's food that stinks if left in car. DISAPPOINTED is an under statement here. And since the order was mixed up it is beyond me how you guys didn't know about it bcos someone else would have got a wrong order as well. Lost $70 and didn't get what I paid for.

The type of Indian food that makes you fall out of love with Indian food. The Naan was bland and burnt. The Beef Vindaloo could easily of been mistaken for Bolognese sauce. Barely a hint of spice in a curry that is supposed to be the hottest on the menu. It was extremely bland, lacking backbone and had chunks of un-chopped garlic the size of an almond throughout. To really send the horrible experience home, I paid $5.50 for 2 (yes 2) stale poppadoms. The chefs obviously don't care and I don't see why they should expect their customers to. If you go here you are wasting your money.

Mother India has some really great staff and an amazing owner. It’s also one of the most underrated Indian restaurants in Hobart. Parking is available off-street 1. Haryali Kebab- HIGHLY RECOMMENDED- This dish was too good, nice, soft and all things green. 2. Vegetable Manchurian- RECOMMENDED- this dish has little gravy but nice covered in it. 3. Malai Kofta: RECOMMENDED- The kofta’s are soft and loaded with paneer in spicy orange gravy, which was perfectly thick and delicious. 4. Dal makhana: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED- I loved how thick the dal was. 5. Breads: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED we ordered garlic butter naan and cheese naan, they are nice and soft.

A diverse vegetarian selection and various types of curries. A range of strengths were available, adding a further variation, and not heavy and fatty sauces. Altogether, a really good meal.it is definitely Hobart 's finest Indian cuisine. We have been and are never disappointed several times.

We decided to walk to this restaurant from the CBD, which was a bit of a hike, but we were not disappointed. The decor was plain, but it was clean and airy and the service was friendly and efficient.

The vegetarian menu was extensive and the curries had distinct flavours. There was a choice of strengths, which added further variation, and the sauces were not heavy and greasy. All in all, a really nice meal.

BYO wine.

Worst Indian food I ever had in Australia. When complained to the chef about the same, he replied very arrogantly and didn't even accepted!!! No value for money at all.

As a Brit, I've eaten in a lot of Indian restaurants. The food here is exceptionally good: varied, flavoursome and spiced with care and refinement. Honestly some of the best Indian food I've eaten anywhere at this price. Highly recommended. I will return often. A real find!!

A great experience. Our first time here was a great experience, we chose from the vegetarian section of the menu and every dish was beautifully prepared. A quite subtle and well balanced use of spices (the veg special rice was both fragrant and generous with ingredients), really nice naan and roti breads, generous servings and helpful service.

Great food and amazing service. I went to mother India with my friends. I saw the restaurant was well presented and the staff was friendly. The menu offered all traditional curries and also quite a variety of veg and non veg curries. I ate chicken vindaloo, butter chicken with naan bread. All my food was really really great and delicious, I never eat in Hobart before. I will go back again and again. If anyone try, hope they will enjoy the dinner at mother India.

Very disappointed by the manager/owners attitude of having no respect for its customers . With a huge party going on and a few tables fr other customers it was total maheym jst gt bck with a terrible headache nd average food . I feel every owner should respect te space of every customer who walks through their door unfortunatley it was not the case here nd i would never go back to that kind of attitude again .

Dont bother.. especially if there is party going on.. just had experience of kids popping balloons with knifes, running around throwing papaddums while others suffered the mayhem quietly.. could not withstand it nor anyone can or should, it is supposed to be shared space, unfortunately no respect. Had to takeaway food on top of which we had to go back since starter was forgotten .. food was very average at the best and few reviews here are posted by the chef himselves.. disasterous.

Awesome Food & Excellent Service. Highly recommended!!! The food was great and the service was top notch. This was our first time in Hobart and found this place c/o Urbanspoon reviews.

The restaurant was very clean and the staff went out of their way to really give you an excellent service. The nan bread was soft and tasty and was in great abundance.

Hats off to the chef and his staff. Hope you can bring this to Brisbane!

Yum!!!! Better than any I have tried in Brisbane. I was visiting family in Tassie - i am actually from Brisbane. I was so impressed with the freshness and quality of the food and oh so reasonably priced. Please open up a restaurant in Brisbane!

Nice food, not too spicy. The rice was oily though, 2 separate serves. Would be better if it wasn't fried.
