Absolutely love this place - hands down the best breakfast, view and ambience in Hobart. A must do for visitors and locals alike! I had eggs florentine and my dining partners eggs toast and bacon and hash browns and we loved it so much forgot to take a photo! Always great to dine in Scott's establishments (patria della pasta in sandy bay also is really great) - relaxed, humorous and a lovely 'home' feeling - if you had a hilarious guest visiting your home and your home had the best restaurant, best view in Hobart and top service :) thanks!

A kind lady sitting next to me recommend Seafood chowder and a friendly German staff recommended us to have a scone. The super cool owener swung by our table a couple of times to make sure that we were having great time there. (He also played piano - Beethoven for us too). We got the best view, foods and the best service in that place. I will go back next month for dinner again.

We went as a group of 9 for Afternoon tea. We had a booking for High Tea at another establishment that was cancel 18 hours before hand. We frantically called most places and couldn't find anywhere else to accommodate us. From the moment we walked in ( early ) the staff went out of the way to make us feel welcome. While they don't do High Tea as such, we had cheese platters, antipasto platters and dip platters. We then finished with a Devonshire tea. The bubbly was flowing and we stayed way past there closing time. There was no pushing us out the doors and when our husbands arrived to take us home, they were even happy to get them drinks, even though they had closed. All the food was delicious, scones were huge and the coffee hot

A lovely cosy place, with fantastic views on a clear day. The food is great - whether you decide to have a feast or afternoon tea and a cheese platter - and the service is excellent. The staff are particularly welcoming of and charming towards children. I can't recommend this place highly enough.

We had an absolutely fabulous breakfast, the poached eggs were perfect, the coffee was excellent , the service was great and the White chocolate peanut butter truffles at the counter were scrumptious! I don't think you can get a better breakfast with an amazing view to top it off! A must do, 15 mins from central Hobart...

Another amazing meal and tremendous views, the best in Hobart, yes better than the Mountain. Love the Staff, their wit and coolness in the face of a busy morning, and changing orders! Cheers, thanks again.

Not sure where some of the previous correspondents visited. I found the staff welcoming and efficient, the food well prepared, presented and tasty. And did I mention the spectacular views? Highly recommended.

Dropped in for a glass of Wine the other day and once the wonderful man who seated us at our table realised it was my birthday, he served me the best glass of Red available (and only charged us the house-wine price). The food is incredible, the service is second to none and the VIEW is picture perfect. I absolutely adore this place and I am looking forward to visiting you again when I'm back in Tasmania. Thank you so much, you really made my day :)

I’m an idyllic location what used to be the signal mans cottage is now a cafe.
It’s an odd set up a bit casual, a bit formal.
The welcome was curt and oddly stilted,it felt as if we were intruders rather than valued paying clients.
Let’s be honest the views are the only reason to go to this cafe and the table arrangements are odd to say the least.
But
There are so many gluten free options that all is forgiven and the gluten free scones- OMG!!!! Fresh, light, delicious. Raspberry jam and fresh cream oh my!
The coffee is very good too.
Overlook the service which is sited and strange and go for the scones!!! And the views of course.

I really enjoyed the view, the friendly staff and other customers who were also in awe of the view, food and a rainbow that graced us today. I had scallops and sesame buttered greens a glass of 42 degrees sparkling and my friend had a house red and lamb tacos $91

A perfect rest stop when reaching the peak of Mount Nelson: views, food, drinks and a bathroom. I was recommended the lemonade scones and this was so warm, fluffy and lemony, it was so lovely to just sit, relax and enjoy the peace and beauty of Hobart with something sweet. There is indoor and outdoor seating available but fingers crossed you get seated near the window!

Our recent visit to the Signal Station Brasserie was at morning tea time. It was a cool autumn morning and we were delighted to walk in to a country-style lounge room complete with a fireplace. The place was very inviting as it was warm and toasty.

When visiting Signal Station Brasserie ensure you allow plenty of time. This is a great café where you just take your time and enjoy the good views. This family-friendly café is full of fresh air and gorgeous sunshine. It is an ideal scenic place for visitors and it is definitely high on my list of places to return to with friends.

I couldn't speak for the main dishes here, but can certainly vouch for a Devonshire tea or muffins on a lovely sunny afternoon. Lemonade scones hot out of the oven just like nan used to make, with deliciously bright raspberry jam and cream, are a real treat and becoming rarer these days. Coffee was, however, a bit weak (I'd go for an extra shot), but the staff were very warm and attentive.

The signal station has a chequered history like so many historic buildings converted to restaurants in Tasmania. The last time I visited it was a simple cafe with pies and ice creams. Now in this latest incarnation they've created a stunning verandah area with seemingly invisible glass looking out upon the spectacular Derwent Estuary. The aim seems to be more up-market with limited seating space, and while you'll pay a few dollars more than some other Hobart restaurants, those who've been to 'Sky High' on Mount Dandenong will laugh at how much better placed this city is to offer such experiences.

Had Brunch yesterday with friends from Melbourne, the missus had booked a table on the glass enclosed verandah and the views were outstanding, the service was enthusiastic and attentive and the breakfast menu was varied enough to suit most palates. All ordered meals were spot on with a special mention going to the eggs benedict with salmon and the coffees
It was a very pleasant morning and looking at the views thru visitors eyes really brought home how lucky we Tasmanians are. Will definitely return

Cute little place with an amazing view. If you just want to waste away a Sunday afternoon, come up here for the spectacular view, enjoy some scones with Jane & cream, and maybe also grab a hot chocolate. Sit out on the balcony and watch the world go by with the Kenny G style music playing in the background.

Been here a number of times for lunch since moving to Hobart. First off, the views are amazing and definutely worth popping up to see them if you're new to town. As for food; the traditional Caesar salad with chicken was lovely and fresh, presented in a modern deconstructed style. I'm not usually one to like Caesar salads due to the heavy dressing but I would recommend this one.
Morrocan chicken quinoa salad: first time I had it, WOW. I finished it and was left wanting more. It has a subtle savory morocon spice on chicken pieces and olives, counteracted with sweet explosions of dried cranberries and roasted pumpkin. The quinoa bulks it up and is a popular ingredient in restaurants these days, however, the last time I had this salad it was 80% quinoa and my companion had the same issue. Maybe just a bad day but it completely ruined the dish for me. This salad requires the right balance of all the ingredients to really wow you, but if you get that, it's a definite must pick.
I have found the staff to be lovely each time I have visited. They do seem run off their feet though and I have had to wait quite a while for them to take orders or particularly for food to arrive. Lucky for them I used this time to sample the sparkling whites which I thoroughly enjoyed. Over all, perhaps hit and miss with this place but you need to try it at least once for the ambiance!

This place is worth visiting just for the view! It's unreal. The poached eggs were pretty enjoyable, the cured salmon was bang on. Judging by the rest of the menu I'd say the food is all pretty decent, honest food. Nothing that will blow your socks off, but it's only a casual little place. Staff were quite friendly. Definitely worth checking out.

Another superb brunch at this delightful, friendly & professional restaurant. The food was beautifully prepared & presented. I had poached eggs on some delicious toast with a side salad. My partner chose the savoury muffin. Both dishes were adorned with fresh rose petals on top of the perfectly fresh side salads. Both dishes could not be faulted - neither the attentive staff. We felt so welcomed - from start to finish. As to the views: they are breathtaking. This establishment deserves its accolades. It's even dog-friendly (outside tables). There are some lovely walks through the reserve too!

Superb location with panoramic 270 degree views over Hobart. The cafe offered a huge range of desserts very nicely presented. We will definitely come back to sample the lunch fare next time. The scones were particularly good!

Unbelievable. Great view. The food is a bit deceiving my expensive, as they offer traditionally cheap foods (breakfast burger, savoury muffin), but it’s worth every penny, it’s these breakfast classics but turned up to 11. Staff are a bit thinly stretched, but they are good at what they do. Would recommend.
