Woow place amazing food. We ordered banquet menu. We cudnt finish. Amazing portion size.very nice staff.. our experience was really great. Starting from entree till dessert it was great. Size of samosa we hug and filling was really nice and spicy. Chicken 65 great and the wait staff suggested for chicken 65. My wife doesn’t eat chicken. If she eats that then just imagine it was that good. Main course was huge. Portion size of chicken curry and daal was to big. We cudnt finish it. And at then end we had mango kulfi, which reminds me of india. Wooow.. 5 out of 5 for food and service..
I was a regular at this restaurant till 2017s but over the past few years the food quality has declined and sometimes its good and sometimes it feels like a waste of money.Probably they have a different chef during weekdays when its okay food but over weekends its not that great food.
Delicious food. Loved the aloo tiki chat and chicken curry. Very courteous staff. The girls made sure to take care of us. I’ve tried this place 4 times and was never disappointed.

Nice and neat place. Authentic Indian curries. I like hot and spicy cuisine. I ordered Chicken Chettinda which is chef's special item on the menue. As mentioned in the menue, the curry was supposed to be very hot. Chef not only met my expectation but also did justice to the name of the restaurent. You can also see that they use literally thousands of spices in their curry. Service was quick. The instrument only melodious composition of classic bollywood songs on the background complement the restaurent ambient. You will definitely stay extra few minutes just to listen to the slow and melodious instrumental music. The portion was good. I heard complain about customer services. However, I found staffs very friendly and caring. Notably, I visited during quiet hours. Good place to visit with friends and family. Couples friendly.
They definitely add thousand spices to your food. Even the regular Butter chicken was o full with intricated spices, let alone the lachha parantha and naan. Wonder where do they get their collection of spices.
I am going there again once I am done trying food at other places around it.

Was finding a indian cuisine with authentic taste which was 100% fulfilled by the team I felt lack of attention of the staff towards the customer. Other then that we ordered Malai Kofta and garlic naan which was pretty good in taste but the quantity was not that great and later we ordered daal and rice which again disappointed us in terms of quantity the rice was in good quantity but to compliment that the daal was just one very small bowl. I would still recommend to atleast taste the food they serve. The taste is very much maintained.
Tried tawa paneer and really liked it. The flavour and the consistency in the gravy was on a upside. Found the mild one bit spicy though.

Away from home you struggle to find food that is actually close to what home food is. They serve real indian food with the proper indian taste. Completely authentic. We had the papdi chaat. It was great! It was loaded with the right amount of everything.
The non veg thali is a must have but please remember the quantity is a lot more than what you will be able to handle. It's a perfect meal for 2 people with average appetite.
The staff is friendly and the service is fast.Edit: Management has changed, staff is not as nice/fast. Average in terms of menu. But the taste remains great!

Very nice food. Had pudina chicken, Malai kofta, chilly paneer and in the end Kashmiri naan as sweet dish. All of them were nice. A nice place to have Indian food
Lovely setting, yummy complimentary nibblies to start with, and friendly service. I had a thali and it was generous and delicious! I would like to come back and try other dishes too!

Who doesn't love a decadent Indian feast. Authenticity and a thousand years of tradition are layered before you in a spread of classic dishes. We dived right in. Yes we can use all the little satchels and jars Woolworths can provide, but the flavours just cannot compare. There is definitely something for everyone. The menu provides a massive range for those with dietary requirement and preferences.
Our favourite? The butter chicken. Everything was incredible, but you can't beat the aroma and balanced blend of spices in a good butter chicken. It was amazing!
Buyers beware! Some dishes are not for the faint of heart. They are definitely a little spicier than you're use to! Just how we like it 😏
Great tasting Indian, with genuine service and at reasonable prices.
Stumbled across this restaurant at lunch time and we were happy with our choice.
At the time of dining there were not many people in the restaurant so it was very quiet. Quite a variety of items on the menu. Food service was really quick.
Staff were friendly and had a chat with us at the end.
I would definitely come back here again if I was in the area.
Throughly enjoyed the dining experience at Thousand Spices. Being newbies to Indian cuisine, my group asked for the chefs recommendation and ordered 5 different curries with garlic naan & roti. The food was amazing and the fish curry and papadoms are not to miss!
Best biryani I've had in years! It's a bit on the dry side but it's so rich in flavour and the goat meat is very tender.
Rogan josh is tasty, with the meat very well done.

The only place in Sydney serving the closest authentic Indian food, in mid-range prices. I've referred it to everyone I know. The moment I have cravings for Indian food I make a booking. If I lived anywhere closer to homebush I would definitely have picked dinner from here everyday.
I must have tried everything on the menu and I have never had a complain. DISCLAIMER I am a big critic of bad Indian food, it burns me if people slay the Indian culture by nasty "curry". Thousand spices is one place that never disappoints.
Plus the owner/ manager he looks after his loyal customers.
I've been there with my friends for lunch a while ago. Many of my friends who are into Indian food recommended this place. They make flagrant, fresh and spicy (not too hot) dishes. They cook traditional and home-cooking various different kinds of food. I've never heard or tasted some of the dishes so naturally I enjoyed new discovery. The restaurant is right in front of Homebush train station.
This place is very near to Homebush station. Good Indian food . Over crowded on weekend.

Really attentive staff and service. Dishes came out pretty quickly and staff would always walk past to check if everything was ok. Amazing Murgh tikka masala (all the dishes were pretty good) and the naan and breads were very good!!
Good location right opposite to Home bush train station. Good place for fine dine dinner and take away for arvo. Staff was pretty helpful. Good environment. You need to book a table on weekend coz this place get busy.
Good chat and food overall! This one is a local hangout and one of my favourite places to frequent :) must try is the dahi Puri. They have been kind enough to accommodate my dietary needs as well!
A neighbourhood Indian restaurant that delivers in spades. Big flavours, personable service and a bill that won't break the bank. There's no beef on the menu but you won't miss it with a good range of lamb, chicken, seafood and vegetarian dishes.

I often go to 1000 spices for dinners and breakfast on Saturdays. The food quality and service good. The staff is friendly. Got a chance to peep in the kitchen and was happy to see out was clean and maintained which added to my appreciation for this restaurant. Came here on a Saturday night with a reservation. All the food was delicious, save for a few dishes which were average - the Paneer Tikka was not amazing, while the garlic and cheese naan could have used more garlic and cheese. The butter chicken was wonderfully fragrant, with tender pieces of chicken, in a creamy tomato based sauce.
I also tried rasmalai for the first time here, which consisted of springy cottage cheese balls in a sweetened condensed milk- amazingly delicious. We also had the falooda kulfi, which was average.
It cost us $100 for two entrees, two lassis, four mains, and three desserts, so it was good value for money. The service was polite and friendly, although some of the staff looked harried. We left feeling stuffed and well-fed, satisfied with our delicious meal.

Thousand Spices is right opposite Homebush, the flavours are really good but not considered spicy for an average Indian. The service was okay, could have been faster, the staff isn't as trained as they should be. The curries were really good, we ordered the Panner Tawa Masala and Channa Masala. Paneer was soft and the curries were tasty, I wasn't disappointed by the food unlike other Indian restaurants in Sydney. The naan was soaked in butter, they had thumps up. However, they did not have any Thali's available

Thousand Spices is our local go-to Indian restaurant. Introduced to us by a family friend, the food is home-cooked, authentic Indian fare, served in generous portions at affordable prices.
The modest, homely restaurant sits unassumingly right across the road from Homebush station. Alongside the usual Indian dishes like Butter Chicken and Rogan Josh are more intriguing curries, side dishes and snacks that are well worth a try.

Great food, quick service, great ambience... All in all great value for money. Definitely try the tandoori chicken!! It's one of the best in Sydney.

I have tried almost everything on its menu and was happy with the quality of the food they serve.

This is such a popular Indian restaurant in the area. People travel quite a way to come here too. Located right outside Homebush station, it's the perfect place for a great meal.
I usually have the one staple dish I order which is the butter chicken. I know, it's so not adventurous of me. I usually order that and then we order something else we haven't ordered. I have to say though, all the curries are great here. If you're not sure what to choose, the staff is more than happy to help. On my last visit I ordered the tamarind prawns which was sooo good! I recommend you order this one.
The portions are smaller than other Indian restaurants but I find its still decent. The prices are probably a tad more pricier as well, but you'll get quality meal you won't regret.
Great little Indian restaurant. Pay no attention to the photos though as they have recently gone through and completely revamped the interior. Huge brick feature wall complemented with deep reds and hanging light globes gives the place a very modern/ industrial feel.
Loved the Palak Patta Chaat, that was a definite highlight of the meal.
The lamb was so tender it practically fell apart once it hit the tongue and all of the curries were packed full of meat. Naan bread was hot and fresh and everything came out in great time.
It's also reassuring eating at a Indian restaurant and noticing over half of the customers are Indian themselves.
Overall great experience. I will be back.

The place has been renovated, a little dark for my liking though.
We had chicken tikka, butter chicken and yellow daal.
Chicken tikka and butter chicken was delicious. Can never go wrong with these two dishes. However, the daal was a little let down today. It was under seasoned and not as enjoyable as usual. We mentioned it to the staff who greatly appreciated our feedback and provided us with some dessert to take away, which took us by surprise.
We'll be sure to return!
Service is always great IMO, and waiters always friendly. They could use more seating and value is good (but not incredible), but it's easily one of the best indian restaurants in the vicinity. A 'must try' if you're nearby.
I come back to my local Indian in Homebush - A Thousand Spices.I have been to A Thousand Spices many times as I always enjoy the food, the customer service is great and it's packed full of customers which makes for good ambience. Check out my previous blog post here where I tried different dishes. For Entree, I order the paneer tikka (above, $8.90) which essentially is baked cottage cheese with a minty, yoghurty sauce. It's quite nice but a but naughty if you are counting calories.
It is just the opposite of Homebush West station which makes it a great place if you don't have a car and want to have a descent Indian dish without breaking the bank.
We love their Naan and tried a few of their curry dishes.
Service is okay. We heard microwave's "ding" a lot and we prefer our Indian dish heated up the traditional way. This is probably why we have not been back as often.
This place is a gem! I find that Indian can be hit and miss but this has got to be one of my favourite Indian restaurants in Sydney. Rich creamy sauces and great portion sizes. It's good value and nice cuts of meat. It's a definite must for any food lover. The service was speedy and responsive (which is a must for me). I've heard some celebrities have eaten here but alas no "star" gazing tonight! Try it out :)
Their Butter Chicken is really great. even Rara Gosht is mouth watering. Just perfect tender mix of Gosht and spices. When served with Indian Naan, tastes heavenly.
Staff is courteous too. Quantity is a little less than usual places. it would be great if they offer a bit more quantity for the price they ask.

Ate at thousand spices recently in August 2015 for the very first time ... A lot of people in my office have been praising it so it was on my radar for a long time ... We ordered around six different things ... Chinese was 6.9 on a scale of 10 ... Curries were 10 out of 10 ... The reason why I give 10 to the curries is of course because of the taste but also due to the fact that we did not feel the spices had caused any acid reflux overnight. Could improve the size a bit but it wasn't disappointing. Service was attentive. However despite all of the above, there were some concerns:
All cutlery spoons knives glassware were dirty and we had to get them to change it.
It is an area of hygiene which has the potential of loosing a lot of customers like me.
Hygiene out in front of the customers = Reflects ur personal hygiene in the kitchen.
However once pointed out, the staff was swift to change it without any raised eyebrows.
We would perhaps try them one more time but we would not go back again if hygiene remains an issue.
Apart from that the taste is pretty good and you will not be disappointed.

My good friend who is Indian suggested that the Thousand Spices was her "go to" Indian so I brought it upon myself to check it out. She is right on the money and now the Thousand Spices is my favourite Indian. I order the Bhel Puri, which is the Crispy Puffed Rice mixed with sweet and spicy condiments ($6.90, above). It's a mildy spiced puffed rice dish with lots of textures of nuts, onion, tomato and spring onion. I like the crunch from the nuts among the other crunch of puffed rice.
Good food..Good location.Parking is also present.
Pocket friendly.Serves Indian beverages and drinks.
Loved their paranthas, but Chowmeins were pathetic.
A popular choice for mass dining with friends.
Service was also OK.Went couple of times.

I love Thousand Spices! Ever since D* and I were introduced to this place by some of our friends a few years ago, we fell in love with the food and we have been loyal customers ever since.

Overall good local Indian food, good value. Last Friday night the quality, the range, taste and price of Indian food at this casual eatery was overall quite good (majority of customers were Indian to confirm it!). Also having Chaat, Puri, Marsala Dosa, Sambar, Iddly, fried and battered greens, several kinds of goat, tandoor chicken, butter chicken, different biryani, paratha etc, lassi, masala chai etc was very pleasing and all that we tried was well made. Chilli level was mild to moderate so well suited to local tastes. But finally the sweets eg Falooda (disappointing), Kulfi, Rasamali, Jamans were barely OK - and no halva offered at all etc - perhaps the chef does not make their own kulfi and regards these sweet foods as afterthoughts, just quick thrown into a small dish, and so these are definitely not to better standards as found in medium restaurants in India and not matching the nice quality of their spicy food. Restaurant and staff were busy, slightly slow service, but helpful attitudes. Summary: enjoyed it, we will go there again.

After writing a rather critical review last time, I noticed that the owner of the restaurant replied to it and had apologized! I decided to give this restaurant another go and was very pleased with the service and the food was as always outstanding! I'm glad that they do value their customers and so I have been spreading the word to all my friends! Thank you Thousand Spices for the fantastic food and warm, hospitable service! Will definitely be making regular trips to your restaurant once again!
Every single time we come here we have excellent food. We tried the dosas once and they were also yumm, but all time favourite is the goat byriani :) good price for quality as well
The best Indian. We have been coming here for over a year now everytime we get that craving for good Indian food. Always happy with the service and everything is reasonably priced. I love their Chicken Tikka and Butter chicken. Definitely a favorite and we will be back many many times

Great food, great service, great price ! A varied menu selection, from street food to modern selections with indian flair. Went fri night and was busy when nearby restaurants were empty, bookings advised. Will go again .

Have to say that I love this place. Indian is one of my favorite meals to go out for because I can't make it taste 'right' at home. No matter where I go out to I keep coming back to this place. It is one of the best Indian places ever!

Being Indian I am very critical when going to Indian restaurants, this place however feels like a home cooked meal. Fantastic food, however, service needs to be faster, because by the time the food arrives, although excellent, your appetite is going but I still highly recommend this restaurant.
