Review Jiminis Cafe - Hornsby

Rajni Bhatia
Hi Team, Few weeks ago I visited Hornsby shopping centre with my son(have medical condition). His glucose level started dropping. Was my first time I forgot his emergency kit at home and all shops were closing. I asked one shop for hot chocolate, they said they are closed already. JIMINIS Cafe was also closing, but they understood my son's condition and made hot chocolate him, they didn't even charge for this. Thank you so much to that kind man and the whole team for your help that day. Kind Regards

A great place for coffee and cakes with very efficient staff that is totally interested in serving the best quality service. Lots of local love it here .

Coffee and food were great but what was also brilliant was seeing how friendly and happy the staff were and how kind they were some little kids.

There is no reason this amazing Cafe should be less than 4.7-4.9 stars. The food is healthy and DELICIOUS, try their fish or pulled beef nachos, astounding chefs and food and staff are always amazing.

First visit: The food was absolutely amazing! We had the Halloumi burger and Buttermilk Chicken burger with sweet potato chips. They were both fantastic! The sweet potato chips were amazing! The bread was so soft and the chicken was delicious! Service was great and super friendly!

Masala tea was weak and watery, no flavour Sausage was served as half a sausage. Looks like someone ate half of it Eggs were well done, overcooked and tasted rubbery, I ordered eggs benedict Scrambled eggs were cooked as an omelette and not seasoned at all I was recommended to come here but it was terrible. Would not recommend and won't come here agajn

Coffee is great, staff are friendly and it is a convenient location. I had a big brekky and coffee and the place is chill and nice. Esp. Liked the choc flakes on top of the coffee...

Amazing coffee and a great place to eat. The food of this place needs more attention, it is great and decently priced. Services in good in speed and attention.

Have been pretty regular in this place and happy. Even took my parent visiting overseas to this place. It was good.

2 last visit have been dissapointments, and giving 1 for them. In the past easy 2-3 points more.

Last two reasons why won’t visit them anymore.
1. After having dirty glass, mentioned it.. glass was taken back and wiped with table cloth used to wipe tables?! and given back. No no...
2. Today our order was served to the wrong table and when people sitting in that table said its not theirs, waitress just put that then to our table. We asked new as it was there on other table for a while.. (hey covid?!) it was taken back, barista, cheffs all stared us and there were laughing and it was just replated and we got it back in 2-3 minutes.no no, will take my money elsewhere.

Came here for afternoon coffee.

Place:
Located on second floor on Westfield shopping centre, love the window decor surrounding coffee machine!

Service:
Pretty standard, nothing special, but waitress that took our order very friendly and bubbly.

Food & Drink:
Ordered coffee,
Mocha, bulletproof for my self and cappuccino.

Bulletproof coffee is hardly to find in regular coffee shop, but surprisingly I found it here.
I did asked about the butter that barista put on my coffee, I was explained that 12.5 gram of butter added in my coffee.
It was a pretty smooth and creamy taste, I do love it and not the first time I tried this in Australia.

Menu is never been renewed. Service is poor. They do not care about customers. Especially the bald guy behind coffee machine. Not worth to go there.

I went for breakfast with my hubby. I had peri peri burger with chips. Burger was very salty and burned chips were soggy. We had cappuccinos it was average.

I was pretty impressed by this place! Nice, relaxing ambience, good food, friendly staff and quick service!

It was a lazy Sunday afternoon, and I was just out of the cinemas after watching a movie. Naturally, I was famished! Jimini's cafe caught my eye.

It appeared to be full, but thankfully there were still some unoccupied tables inside. I was attended to by a friendly waitress, who patiently explained the vegetarian choices available to me (since it isn't very clear from the menu). I decided to go for a Bocconcini and Tomato pizza, along with Diet Coke.

The pizza had a unique shape, and looked inviting! It was quite filling, and tasted good as well. In fact, I ended up not having dinner that night, since I felt too full! The sift drink was served in a unique looking jug, which I felt added to the overall dining experience.

The cost was around $18, which isn't exactly 'cheap. But considering the overall quality and the service, it was money well spent. No qualms there!

I certainly recommend this place, and I'm very likely to go back and try their other offerings.

Food - 4.5/5
Service - 5/5
Ambience - 4.5/5
Value for money - 4/5
Overall - 4.5/5

nice relaxed environment. The food here is quite nice but basic. I got the pumpkin risotto which was lovely and creamy and my friend got the veggie big breakfast which was nice. Overall for the price its good! The only negative was the wait time for the waitress to come over and take our order and the wait time for the food to come out.

Is this place worth going to? The answer is - maybe. There have been occasions where the service is good, the food tastes good, and the place is buzzing. There have been times where the scrambled egg taste like a salt lick, and the response from the waiter was "well, might be something wrong with the egg mix" and wandered off with a shrug. The chairs spill into the middle of the shopping centre and so you're usually eating with shoppers wandering past and lingering around chatting. If you want a coffee and cake, try Pattisons. If you're after a quick snack, it's probably not the worst option.

This Westfield gem is growing on me. food here is amazing. there are many options for special diets and an interesting menu that never fails to overwhelm me with too many choices! lives up to it's reputation as best coffee in Hornsby. It is however often slow if you are in for a quick hot drink. baristas take a long time to make even takeaways.
Otherwise service is efficient and outstanding. two long haired girls served us and were both very accmodating and attentive despite being bombarded with requests (super busy even on a monday). Mothers with small children are always welcome here but can definietly make the customers and staffs lives harder. Floors and chairs are'nt totally clean, there is a grey colour to them if you inspect. prices range from reasonable to mildly expensive. otherwise i recommend as i have yet to gave a complaint about the taste and friendly atmosphere. looking to make more visits.

This place needs a bomb to get it into shape. The service is shocking. They hire young girls to greet you with a smile but they couldn't work in an iron lung! They also need to learn how to keep it clean. Tables are always dirty and I don't know why I have been back 3 times. That's it!

Okay food, okay service. On the day before Easter, this cafe in the midst of Hornsby Westfield was very busy, which may explain the distraction of the staff although the staff at the counter were very nice.
I ordered the banana bread with ricotta and honey ($10.90) while my friend ordered the carbonara ($15.90).
The banana bread, toasted, came out dry and without butter- but butter was provided on no extra charge once I had asked. The slice was a bit thin, the honey barely there and the ricotta added nothing. Ultimately I found this dish over-priced and rather ordinary.
My friend's carbonara was very soupy. The serving size was large and the taste was nice.

I probably won't be rushing back.
Little Eats Sydney
A great little cafe located just near the free soft play area within Westfield Hornsby. The little ones are entertained so you can relax with one of their delicious single origin coffees. The all-day breakfast is also a winner.

Westfield Hornsby has plenty of cafes scattered around the concourse areas and its difficult to know which ones are best for little ones. Jimini’s offers great food and is in the perfect position for families, located just near the free soft play area. The staff are friendly and there are plenty of highchairs. The all day breakfast is extensive; from a variety of toasted options to a big brekky or the Jimini’s Benedict ($4 – $16.90). For lunch, you are spoilt for choice. Choose from salads, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, pasta and mains such as salmon and barramundi ($12.90 – $21.90).

The coffee served here is good. The service is prompt, friendly and efficient and its a pleasant place to sit and watch the busy people rush by! Jimini's is a better than usual shopping centre cafe and we'd certainly eat there again.
Penguin Says Feed Me
Around a corner on the Aldi level of Westfield Hornsby is an unexpected little cafe away from the busy-ness of the food court area. Jimini's serves cafe-style food with friendly service and good coffee.

I could have made it myself. I ordered the bacon and eggs and what i got in return was something poorly put together that i could have made myself. The bread was soggy, I was given two slices of tomato that cost me an additional $3 and the avocado cost me the same but it was brown so I couldn't eat it. Finally the bacon is just packet bacon from the supermarket, not the fresh stuff. If you want to eat in Hornsby I recommend BlueWater Grill as this place is just way overpriced and little thought is given to quality and presentation.

Slow mo coffee. IF you need a takeaway coffee is less than 20 minutes and a little side of courtesy steer well clear.

Great Food. Jimini's is located inside Westfield, and not near any sunlight, so its atmosphere suffers. The service, however, is friendly enough and relatively efficient. One barista in particular is very smiley.

Interestingly, the negative reviews are about foods that I haven't tried. The only disappointing dish I've had from them was the Chicken Cordon Bleu which, although it was excellent paired with other flavours, was woefully dry. Their burgers are great, and their sweet potato fries come with a saffron mayonnaise—delicious. Unfortunately, they have recently reduced their portion sizes (no price change).

They also have a great range of “chunky” shakes and make a good coffee. I live close by and always enjoy coming here.

Decent but lacking in some parts. I visited Jimini's Cafe in Westfield Hornsby for afternoon tea with my mother. Our experience was generally decent. As we walked in, there was a waitress ready to greet us at the door and show us to our table. They had a nice selection of cakes and desserts on display and a variety of food on the menu. I ordered a Mars Bar Cheesecake and Iced Chocolate while my mother ordered what we think was some hazelnut strawberry slice. It would have been helpful if they had labelled the display.

We sat down and did not have to wait too long for our food to be delivered, but the man preparing the cakes, in full view of the customers, chose to appear as if he did not want to be there and took quite a bit longer than he needed to to slice two desserts. The drinks arrived within a minute of the desserts; I find this quite important at a cafe as I want to enjoy them together. The presentation was neat and not over-done. The Cheesecake was tasty, although I assume it was not store made, and the iced chocolate was made well. I do like it when they mix the chocolate and milk so the cream does not have to be destroyed by the customer, but I suppose that is just personal preference.

The store was generally tidy apart from tables with leftover coffee cups which were attended to when we were almost finished, even though their consumers had left before we arrived. The desserts were overpriced at $8.50 a slice. I do not expect to pay that much at a suburban cafe. The whole cake probably cost that much, so a markup at around 10 times the price is inappropriate. I will not be returning for more over priced cake, but the drink was enjoyable. Not the best iced chocolate I've had, but also not the worst.

Overall, an average experience, but nothing overly exciting.

Simply awful. BLAT was just a stale piece of bread with bacon (barely cooked), lettuce and tomato chucked on. Forgot the avocado. Peri peri burger was ok but sweet potato chips were soggy. Not worth the ridiculous prices considering the amount of care gone into making the dishes. Also, staff appeared put-out when asked for ingredients forgotten. Not going there again!

(one of the) Best of a Bad Bunch. The standard of cafes in Hornsby is low. Different cafes for different things. For example, the only other place in Hornsby I've tried (AND I'VE TRIED A LOT) that makes a decent Iced coffee is The Shingle Inn. The other great thing about Jimini's is the sweet potato fries. Generous and delicious. The remainder of the menu is overpriced. Eg. Order a sandwich on Turkish and you only get one piece of bread.. come on!! So now I won't have lunch there at all. Service is good and plenty of room for the prams.

-----08 Nov, 2013-----

Great service, they know how to make a proper iced coffee and do delicious sweet potato chips with aioli. My favourite Westfield cafe. My favourite mall cafe is thyme square.

The food and the coffee are quite good. Service is patchy with poor attention to detail but staff are pleasant enough. The blue paper menus are currently visibly grubby and frayed which I found really offputting.

Waitstaff just walked past me until I decided to go to counter. Coffee was ok, the cake was great.

Not value for money. It's nice food, but very overpriced and the coffee was awful. Had to tip it down the sink. Good location in shopping centre, but don't recommend for a takeaway coffee.
