A very typical country Australian bakery. Very popular at 6:30am in the morning when we arrived there was a queue out the door. We had some pies and a coffee. The pies were great with generous filling and very flaky pastry. Lots of sweet options!
We have travelled almost all parts of Australia and I can hands down swear that these guys have some of the nicest baked goods we've ever had! The pastry is light and crispy and the fillings are generous and tasty ๐ very friendly service indeed. Do yourself a favour and head on down, get in early to
Their fresh cream Apple Turnovers were to die for, the prices were reasonable and the lady was very friendly. Unfortunately we found that the pies and sausage rolls let them down. The ones we bought looked and tastes as though they were a couple of days old even though they apparently bake in-house
Delicious cream apple turnovers and custard tarts. Nice soft tank loaf. Friendly service and only a short walk from the RV park. Also open at 530am - very convenient!
Get there early as all the good stuff goes quickly.
My husband had the curry pie and I had half the bread loaf. Diarrhoea kicked in an hour after, had to take gastro-stop. The next day my husband and I finished the remaining loaf and we felt sick in our stomachs - this to confirm itโs the loaf. Def will not come back.
Only 2 types of pies- mince or chunky beef. Not much flavour, I don't think the lady behind the counter new how to smile?
Sorry
Pies and sausage rolls seem to be the main items here, but they do sell cold drinks and make coffee as well. My skinny cap was good. Air conditioning inside shop was welcome. Couple of tables and chairs outside for convenience, but, although in the shade, still quite hot. Hughenden is hot. Nice lady
