Decent eatery providing some authentic flavours of Malaysia and Singapore. Now this is not Arthur too end of scale of some of the well known establishments of the city or Parramatta but it gives you enough at reasonable prices.

We’ve had the laksas here many times and the soup with its fishy sweet oiliness with generous dollops of laksa paste and fried onion, make it all the better to slurp up with your preferred meat ( chicken or prawn). There an uncommon combo of Hainnanese chicken (rate it here as well)and laksa, for those that cannot decide between the two. Personally I will take it the other but never both. Oily enough without the chicken skill. All laksas best with nice noodle, egg and vermicelli.

Our vegetarian in the family gives the Tofu and vegetable option the thumbs up too.

Skewers are Ok but just not Smokey enough.

All up there’s enough here to bring you back!

Had a cosy experience here with some great dishes. Had some beautiful bites starting with the Malaysian Classic Dry Noodles with KL bbq pork. The super tender, moist bbq pork was sticky and sweet with a hint of saltiness. It was actually a different taste to the traditional way Chinese make bbq pork (Char Siu) taste but in a good way. Its always good to try something similar but different with slightly different flavours. Next step was mixing the pork with the sticky thin noodles that had a little crunch to them and the perfectly cooked vegetables together for a super flavoursome bite and I was not disappointed. It was extremely tasty and gave me a warm and homely feel.
Crispy Curry Fried Chicken you could really taste the curry powder in the batter and the smell overwhelmed me with warmth. Crispy but still tender and juicy. Love the Kaffir Lime Leave, it gives it a certain zing.

It's pretty good here. Service was good. Hainanese chicken rice was ok. The soups wasn't the tastiest but wasn't too bad.
The satay tasted good. The sauce was different to what I'm used to, like there's soybeans in it.
The ice kachang was ok. Not amazing, missing condensed milk I think.
Overall, isn't too bad.

I love this Malaysian restaurant! It's at the end of Forest Road restaurants, close to Queens Road. It's very tiny, but food there is always good.

It's recently renovated, and it's neater and brighter and there is now more seats.

They don't have a big menu, but what's on the menu are the classic delicious Malaysian food.

Service and value is quite good here. I ordered the laksa and some satay for about $15. Food here isn't too bad I wouldn't consider it amazing but a great alternative if you can't be bothered driving to the city for good laksa or satay.

It's the only place in town that serves Malaysian and it provides all the favorites from a country that is the melting pot of several of its neighbours.

I just adore the SATAY BEEF & CHICKEN STICKS - like old street snacks you found in Malaysia, except their Satay dipping sauce is mega chunky and extra nutty which just adds that tiny bit of oomph to this oh so popular dish! The FRIED PORK CHOP LAKSA is a spectrum of tangerine, which isn't as heavy and oily like many Laksas I've had at some other places. I love the mix of textures with the crunchiness of the crushed biscuit coating the pork to the fresh bean sprouts! Have to say as good as the ASSAM LAKSA (Mackerel Fish) was - I definitely liked the pork the best. The slow cooked BEEF RENDANG passed my meat test. Running the knife lightly along the grain of the meat. It falls apart like a sandcastle being washed away by the surf and tastes a million times better with the coconut flavour and mix of spice paste being completely absorbed by the meat! Amazing.

The small casual dining space is comfortable and homely as though you're stepping into the homes of Chef Wayne and Co-Owner, Amy who treat their staff like family and their clients like guests in their own home. A great little getaway from the strip dominated by hotpot places and yum cha where you are completely immersed in the real cuisine and culture of Malaysia!

A small and humble restaurant with really good service. The food is traditional and pretty good, just a bit stingy with the amount of meat been given but other than that I'd recommend this place for cheap authentic Malaysian food 👍🏻

Apparently Kampong Boy has been sitting in Hurstville for a while now. Located towards the library/north end of Hurstville, its right on Forest road - an area which used to be quite dead, but lately has seen a huge number of new restaurants open up, which hopefully I'll get to try at a later stage. Walking over, I can see that Lim's charcoal BBQ - an old familiar is still around but there's also some new Chinese, Korean and Taiwanese restaurants opens around there.

Malaysian food is one of my all time favourite. KampongBoy is a little restaurant to quench your thirst and fill your tummy if you are down in the St George area. The Lemon Milk Tea  was extra lemony and very refreshing, while the 3 layer milk tea  was a little sweeter than expected. The bottom layer was extremely sryupy. Hainese Chicken has always been a well loved dish. The chicken was tender and flavoursome when dipped in the chilli and soy sauce.

Welcome to the buzz of Hurstville in Sydney's south! It's not as far as the Shire so have no fear... I live fairly close to this place and have worked, shopped and eaten here for over 40 years! Prepare yourselves for countless reviews on this 'magacity' of Asian delights and mystery foods. Here, there are literally dozens of great "hole in the wall" restaurants (my new favourite saying) including Chinese, Malaysian, Korean, Vietnamese and even more Chinese. My bet is that this is the biggest concentration of Chinese people in Sydney and competes with Campsie and the likes of Cabramatta for this trophy. I go for lunch on a cold Wednesday with no set plan. I was going to order the famous Kampong Boy which I have heard so much about. But decided to leave that for another post and when I have company! Stay tuned. I am greeted with a friendly young team of girls dressed casually in jeans, t shirt and runners. I was seated immediately (being the first one there didn't phase me) and given the

There's much to love about the belacan fried eggplant, a contrast of sweet and creamy eggplant batons stir-fried with a fiery belacan shrimp paste mixed through with nuggets of pork mince.

Prawn noodle soup, $12.80. Nice rich prawn stock base with hokkein noodles, a few prawnies, fish cake slices, chicken slices, kang kong, bean spouts and half a googie egg. We enjoyed this immensely, though it didn't blow our minds as did the har mee from Singapore Shiok! in Eating World which has a much richer stock, though some folks may prefer the Kampong Boy version as it tastes less like prawn heads.

I have lived in Malaysia for over 5 years and I have to say the food at Kampongboy is better than I ever had in Malaysia! We had the nasi Rendang, the Claypot and mixed satay which were all delicious and made us leave with smiling faces.

I went with 3 other people and we all really enjoyed it. If your looking for fine dining this isn't the place.
But kampong boy has tasty food and priced very well. For 3 dishes, an entre, rice and roti for all of us + corkage it was 74. So under $20 each. We were very happy.
The satay chicken skewers, roti and mee goreng were great.

Marvellous Malaysian. Hopefully KampongBoy is part of a new wave of suburban restaurant-strip eateries bringing Malaysian food to the people. If this restaurant is a sign of things to come, then get excited. The rendang is delicious, the charkway teow is terrific, and portions are generous, as proven by glimpses of what is easily the Warragamba of laksas. Satay sticks were subtle and nicely cooked, their perfectly adquate size leaving plenty of room for some serious mains action. The menu was a bit sparse in describing what protein elements go into what dish, which was a little challenging for the non-porkers and non-prawners (hello!), but some helpful negotiations with the very attentive wait-staff had the details quickly explained. There's a sense that dishes could be easily modified to in- or exclude ingredients. Also, if you do not appear to be Asian, your spice levels (less, more) will be enquired after for adjusting (I no longer take offense.) As for other menu mysteries, roti does not appear in writing, but can be ordered under the counter, as it were - but don't waste stomach-space on what appears to be the untrained understudy to the headline acts (the delicious mains.) Grreat value, tasty, and a little bit classy, this reliable spot at Hurstville's food hub is definitely worth return visits. Plus, it can save you a train trip when you don't feel like trekking into town (or north) to that other Malaysian 'mecca'.

Service was fantastic, the waitress was very friendly and helpful in explaining the dishes to us. we had the Rojak, a BIG service of pineapple, cucumber, sprouts, tofu, fried dough, egg and satay sauce. it was nice, but I thought the satay was a little sweet...

main we had the bak ku teh, good flavour. but not really my type of meal. We ended up being full and took home 3 boxes of food. not as good as mamak but would go back again

Finally ! M'sian food in H'ville. Chicken rice chili was great, satay was good but a bit small. Kids liked the laksa and char kway teow. Nasi lemak rice was good but sambal not spicy enough. Will definitely go back to try the other items on menu.

Maybe I was hungry but I liked the food here. Char Kuey teow was nice and the satay chicken was nicely marinated with a nice peanut sauce. Everything though is in take away containers though eating in and it was a little pricey for the portion size. Also to eat indoors it a small venue

Here's the best authentic Malaysian restaurant you'd find in Hurstville. The interiors remind you of the rustic feel of an olden day hawker centre. The menu looked great and I had the prawn laksa where the laska soup was tasty, not overly heavy and the prawns were delicious. The Milo dinosaurs are a great touch as well!

Good Malaysian restaurant in the seas of Chinese food at Hurstville. Their Char Keow Teow was very tasty and authentic. Their Hainanese chicken rice, not so much. Price is reasonable, but there is a bit of wait time since they don't have that many staffs.

My best friend and I were looking for a place to eat, and it was getting late. I did a quick search on google and this restaurant came up. I called in ahead to ask if it was too late for us to come in, and the lady was so sweet so we rushed over. We were greeted the moment we entered the door. We were seated and served. Everything was simply delicious, the food was gorgeous both in presentation and in flavour. Our service was excellent. Very warm, friendly and inviting which is exactly what you want on a cold rainy night! I will most certainly be coming back to Kampong Boy again, and I'll be bringing my family with me! ^_^

Great service, authentic Malaysian food - yummylicious! All authentic Malaysian food especially the delicious Hainanese chicken rice, satay, nasi lemak, char koay teow and so much more. Been an ardent customer for the past 8 years at least. Even the drinks are authentically Malaysian - dinosaur Milo! You were expecting me to say teh tarik right? These are all real Malaysian taste. There're street parking right outside the restaurant - convenient.
