My dad stumbled past this place many times after getting of the train at Hurstville and walking home :).
He stopped to look at the menu and saw they served Jabbies and was super keen to try this place with the family :).
I checked it out on yelp and saw the 2 1/2 star rating so wasn't sure what to expect but then again i have been to some fantastic 1 star places hahaha!!
We went here sunday arvo at about 6:30, it was 6 of us with no booking and we were lucky to score the only 6 person set up table in the place :).. only haf an hour later the whole place was packed out :D, luck was on our side :)!!
We had the veggie spring rolls, mushroom dumpling & pancakes with pork peices, wow the mushroom dumplings never had that before, damn was good too & the pancakes with the pork were on point tasty :D, the spring rolls were spring rolls haha!!
Dad got an entrée to himself which was fish with "Secret" sauce.. dad said it was so secret the fish tasted like meat lol really tasty sauce aswell :).
I have to admit 90% of the food on the menu was stir fryed or deep fried ... I didn't want anything too heavy so settled with a plain noodle soup with braised meat ball, mum got deep fried king prawns in duck egg yolk, cousin had sweet & sour pork, dad got the Yabby meat rice, sister got salt and pepper prawn & friend ordered stir fried chicken with peanuts & chilli sauce haha was a proper spread of tasty food :D!!
Mum loved her king prawns:), i personally thought they tasted a bit powdery but there was a good taste to it, the Yabby meat rice was hands down "fantastic :D", my noodle soup with braised meat ball was definitely a tasty light option for me.. can't go wrong with noodle soup :), sweet & sour pork was like any other sweet and sour pork :D, sister's salt and pepper prawn were tasty but more on the average side and last but not least my mates stir fried chicken with peanuts & chill saucewas oh so good but me personally needed a water on the side the wash down the spicyness lol.
When going to any ethnic restaurant if it's packed out with the restaurants ethnics its a safe bet its got qaulity food :D!! We were the only white folk in the entire place and when we walked out at just before 8 there were another bunch of people waiting for a table .. they can't all be wrong with this being a good place to eat :D!!
This place was an easy 4 stars for me :D!!
P.S. to the waiter that served us and then brought our food to the table and when we asked what each dish was he replyed again and again that he didn't know haha and checked the menu each time to tell us ;), probs new to the place but he was super friendly & it wasn't a fuss just a tad bit funny :D.
I loved the noodle soup there. Noodle was freshly made and the soup was just delicious.
Dumplings were okay, you may have to season the dumpling soup yourself sometimes...
Best spring rolls and wonton soup that I've had. Ao fresh and tasty. Definitely will go back.
The soup had so many different flavours and the wonton was juicy and fresh. Service was quick and friendly. A great experience for my first meal out in the area
Haven't ordered anything but noodles and throughly enjoy the low price, reasonable servings and taste each time. Service is speedy and seating is ample so you don't have to wait around even in the lunch time rush. Would happily go any time I'm hungry and in need of a hot meal
Like noodles is an ideal restaurant for a perfect session of enjoying some Shanghai signature noodles. Personally, I had been there numerous times, once for dinner and most of the time lounging around during lunch. The dishes ordered for dinner were all scrumptious however the noodles had won this round. (For a must try, order the meatball noodles.) Although on the other hand, the atmosphere and ambience was appalling. There was head-splitting chatter and deafening laughter coming from a nearby table. During that time I was at dinner with my family and I couldn't even have a 2 minute conversation with them when all I could hear was roaring chatter. The service was alright except for once when an extremely rude waiter came with our food and then spilt the bowl of noodles soup onto the table. What then was worse was, he didn't even bother to clean help clean it. This made me very irritated but overall like noodles displays great mouth-watering food.
The noodle soup is delicious, one of the best soups in Hurstville, the noodle texture is perfect, xiao long bao are a must as well! Try the meatball soup or the pork intestine.
Like Noodle has become a staple for my husband and I, the food is consistently fresh and delicious! Our go-to dish is the "Shanghai famous noodle soup with stir-fried pork, potato and tofu in hot & spicy paste". The hand made noodles have a lovely texture, the 'spicy' is not too overpowering and you can really taste the garlic and ginger in the soup. Last night we also tried the "Shanghai famous duck in special soy sauce" and the "wild vegetable and pork won ton" and we chose the sesame sauce option. The duck was very meaty and the sauce was so much nicer than the standard over-sweet hoisin you get from other restaurants. The won tons were very delicate, not too porky and the freshness of the coriander and cucumber that was sprinkled over the top went perfectly with the nutty sesame sauce. For less than $40 for the two of us (including tea and soft drinks), we always leave very happy and full :)
First time trying and I liked the meatball noodles soup here. The price’s reasonable given the portion is huge. Will definitely come back again and try different dishes.
Good noodles, a variety of other food.
