Review Antica Pizzeria - Hyde Park

We were a group of 7 and the booking process was easy. Antica Pizzeria E Cucina is very popular so booking are essential. The service was prompt and friendly but an earlier reminder that our table was re-booked after our session would have been useful as we were busy catching up rather than focussing on the menu. The food was all delicious and we really enjoyed our meal. Definitely ask for extra truffle cream to dip your pizza crusts in!

Nice spot for any meal. Liked the variety of vegetarian & vegan options on the menu. Staff is courteous and helpful.

This place is odd .. it has really good food however they have no idea when it comes to customer service. Tonight we order our entrees and a bottle of wine. Then about 35 minutes though eating the entrees and drinking the wine the waitress rudely says " You are only booked in for one hour and have to finish up". I was like what do you mean ?? .. How are we going to finish our entree and then order pizza and eat it in 1 hour?? I think about it for a bit and then complain to the waiter that comes to our table next and say is this true? .. do we really have to be out of here in 1 hour?? How are we supposed to enjoy this dinner ?? we were never even told about this?? He says you have to be out by 7:30pm . yep you read correctly 7:30pm! on a Saturday night with no notice!! So if you are thinking about eating here .... I would strongly recommend asking what time they plan on kicking you out before booking!!

Absolutely beautiful. The food was amazing, tasted just like nonnas. The service was great as well. Will be coming back!

Takeaway pizzas from @anticapizzeria: great selection and great tasting pizzas 😍😍. Crust was soft and fairly thin, and the toppings were excellent. Can't complain!

Absolutely loved the food but the customer service from the staff was a little offensive. Both staff huffed when we asked if we could get lunch when there was no one in the restaurant and from then on the waitress was short, abrasive and uncourteous. Not at all what you expect in Hyde Park and sad given the food was amazing.

I like the pizzas. The base is fluffy, thin and has some chewy bite. The pizzas also have a good amount of toppings. Among the ones we ordered, I would recommend the Diablo, Margherita and 3 Cheese. The prawns on the Gamberi weren't generous. The seafood gnocchi was on the salty side and the gnocchi wasn't pan fried for extra bite. Tiramisu was great but skip panacotta (it's not jellied like other pannacottas I've had and tasted way more like mousse or cream, pistachio flavour was weak). The rocket, pear and Parmesan salad was a nice side to add to your meal. It was really noisy inside so we were glad to eat outside.

Table service was great for such a busy place. Our pizzas, pastas & wine was fabulous. Cocktails and desserts limited but also great. We dined inside on this occasion and unfortunately the noise level was horrendous, couldn’t hear ourselves amongst the fully booked restaurant, spent half the night trying to lip read amongst our table. Staff were quick to clean table and pack takeaway pizzas for us at end of dining.

What is the point of offering gluten free pizza bases if it's going to be contaminated with gluten. Not all of us are trendy where it doesn't matter if it's contaminated. Extremely embarrassing to then have to sit there while my friends eat dinner and I go hungry. Go and educate yourself on gluten free and Coeliac Disease.

I have decided to post this on your page after you didn't have the decency to reply to my private message days ago. To whom it may concern, myself and three friends dined at your restaurant and honestly I am utterly disappointed in the service that your employees find acceptable. Firstly when I phoned up to book for tonight I felt that the man that spoke to me was rude and disinterested in actually getting a table to accomodate our size as we wanted more people. The antipasto was delicious and met the expectation of dining at your restaurant. Main course was a bit more disappointing to be honest as we had three different meals that were all quite bland and watery. However, we were quite excited to return to try more of your delicious antipasto. But, when we went to pay for our meal our experience rapidly went bitter - when questioning your staff about the splitting the bill they said that we were able to spilt it three ways and directed us to the bar however, when arriving at the bar, the bar staff became hostile towards us, rolling his eyes, mumbling under his breath before confronting the waitress about having to split the bill. Your waitress then rudely called me a liar and said she didn't say I could split the before yelling to me that I would have to pay in full. Quite shocked I obliged and payed in full, and when being asked my method of payment being savings or credit, I said savings to which your staff then tried to pay pass my card, after me correcting your bar staff he then put it though without asking if I would like the receipt as I would now have to split the bill myself. For the high total cost of our meals and the service and our experience should have been greater.

Easily one of the best pizza's ive had outside of Naples itself. Despite some of the rewiews i have read, every time i have eaten here the food & staff were perfect. Dont change a thing guys, no matter how much those Unley snobs complain.....thats all their life revolves around.

Antica is my Italian heaven. The menu is full of amazing Italian delights, but the pizzas are a dream. The hospitality & attentiveness of the staff is fantastic, & they always make me feel so welcome. I'm fussy & always want to add, or change something on the pizza or in the pasta dish! Staff have always accommodated my needs without hesitation. Antica is one of my fav restaurants - weekend dinners spent here are always a winner - keep up the good work guys
Karina Pascoe
Would highly recommend Antica! Absolutely delicious food! Especially the calamari! Cocktails at the bar are also a must!

My favourite resturant in Adelaide!! Always good friend staff and amazing food. Cant go wrong!!! Highly recommend!!!! :)

Seriously the best pizza I have ever had. The base was crispy and the eggplant was cooked to perfection. Definitely coming back!
Jacqueline Pirgousis
Went here after I came back from Italy and the pizza made me feel like I was back there again. Great staff, innovative fit out ans reasonably priced. Highly recommend for authentic Italian flavours :)

My family & I visited this Italian restaurant last night for my birthday celebrations. We were extremely disappointed with our meal. The waitresses were very helpful & friendly, however the tall wood oven pizza chef was very unprofessional! Our reserved table was near him & we witnessed him arguing with the waitresses on several occasions. He looked like he just didn't want to be there! We were given complimentary green olives as our meal was delayed. The olives tasted disgusting! Not the pleasant memorable experience we were hoping for!!! The foot long pizza had thin thin thin crust & minimal topping. The pasta gnocchi looked like an entree serve rather then a main. Disappointed!

Have eaten here a few times and never disappoints good is amazing and the staff are awesome will do everything to make sure you have a good experience! Highly recommended.

Awesome place awesome staff awesome food! 🍤 🔥❤️

Terrible terrible service. Booked a table for 9 people, got there and they gave our table away telling us we were booked for one hour earlier. Definitely don't recommend, no point booking either!!

Had a lovely birthday dinner at Antica last night. Staff were very accommodating to us as it was raining and helped us move tables even though they were fully booked. Our waitress was excellent and patient with us as we took a long time to order! Polenta chips, Arincini balls and a couple of real pizza's, to top it of with dessert pizza and Nutella calzone. Yum :) next time I'm hoping to try the 1 metre pizza!
Bianca Jane
Had dinner here last night he service was less than impressive.... we had to ask multiple times where our drinks were.... the wait for our mains were looooooong considering we had to be out by 8.30. I was so excited to try the pizza but despite the delicious toppings the pizza base was super soggy from the very watery tomato sauce base. To top it off at 8.10 we were all ready for dessert......we were basically told we had no time and were asked to leave as the 8.30 guests had arrived. Thanks but Have no interest in coming back!
Kelly Miller
Pretty disappointed with service. Had booked a table outside as we were told if we sat inside we would need to be out by 8 but if we sat outside we could stay on as we pleased. Large group of us catching up when the waitress hurried us along to order (at 7pm) as she told us another table would be replacing us at 8pm! We told her we had not been told this and she finally said we could stay and the other booking would just have to wait for us to leave!!! Way to make us feel pretty uncomfortable and unwelcome. When gluten intolerant member of our group wanted to order gluten free pizza we were told "we don't do gluten free pizza"... umm its on your menu!? "Oh we used to do it, not anymore". Well don't advertise it! It was quite a shame as the food was quite good but I won't be returning in a hurry
Kate Wood
The waitress knocked over a glass of wine which landed all over my dress and a lot of our food. The wine wasn't replaced and no apology, she actually blamed my husband! Then to make matters worse the chef knocked over a bottle of oil will landed all over my beautiful leather hand bag!!! Again no apology!! They reduced our total bill after I refused to pay! I am now trying to get compensation for my ruined handbag. Terrible service all round. Don't go to this restaurant!!!!
Peter Akiki
Very cosy and comfortable restaurant. Staff are friendly and the pizza is so authentic and original and flavours are nice.
Georgieenjoysafeed
Excellent pizza, plenty of cheese! The Gnocchi Quattro Formaggi was sensational; perfect combination of fluffy and creamy. The rocket and pear salad was fresh and perfectly complimented the Gnocchi, would recommend these two together!
Asha
Nice casual dining ambience ...friendly staff..pizzas were good .. all in all a great spot to catch up with friends.... Advise to book on a Friday or Saturday night

I enjoyed the food, wine and ambience at Antica. Service was alright. There was no kids menu so we ordered 2 plain pastas for 2 toddlers. The plain pasta was the portion and almost the price of a main pasta. We would have been better off ordering one plain and another main pasta. It took the staff a while to clear away the plates we were done with. I really liked the rocket, walnut and pear salad, gnocchi and mushroom pizza. I would recommend the place.
Lawrence Pelekanos
Great staff, always friendly and on point. Our waitress the night we had dinner went above and beyond. I could not have asked for a better evening.
Despina Gatsis
After having greatly anticipated my visit to Antica, the night finally came. Upon arrival we were greeted by Fabio (who's hospitality that night was outstanding), we were then sat outside which was small but had a very homey feeling about it. The menu is presented well, working in hospitality and at an Italian restaurant myself it was quite easy reading through the menu however others without the knowledge might struggle. We ordered the 1 metre pizza with the toppings diavola, magherita and the special of the night which was mozzarella, fior Di latte cheese and prosciutto. Thin but wow it was full of flavour. Our pasta dishes came out shortly after the pizza, I ordered the spaghetti vongole and I couldn't fault it apart from me wanting more!! You can really taste the homemade fresh pasta, it was amazing! Highly recommend Antica!!! Everything hit the spot, 10/10 food and service.
Leticia Azzollini
Excellent food and great service! The pizza is a must have- genuine wood oven makes it one of the best pizza places in Adelaide! Great vibe, would definitely recommend!
Daniella De Pretis
Would give it a 3.7 if I could!!Pizza was delicious. Had the 1m pizza with a salad and two antipasto and it was enough for the 5 of us. Was a little bit disappointed with the price pf the antipasti and salads which were high for the small servings you got. Still prefer Sunny’s and Pizzateca as my best pizzas in Adelaide however this was almost up there too.
Famished
Great pizza and divine Nutella Panna cotta. We could have had a wonderful evening out if it weren't for the service and atmosphere. The guy at the front counter was cold (much like the interior, which was freezing with the door left open on a Winter night). Our waitress was warmer, but too desperate to interupt my dining buddy and I mid conversation, and clear plates immediately. I wouldn't have minded so much if the restaurant was packed and we had to be out to make way for another group. Antica's city eatery is nicer.
Emily
Came here on a Wednesday night and was surprised by how packed the restaurant was, all tables were full but the one which we took. Despite the busy night, service and food both came quickly. The pizza was a little overpriced for what you're given. It was good but not excellent. A nice chewy crust but base was too thin, a bit burnt and sauce was missing something. Garlic bread was tasty and generous. It was fun to be able to watch the pizzas being made as the kitchen is open, especially the famous 1 metre pizzas which looked very impressive being brought out by staff. Overall I enjoyed the experience and the pizza was fairly good, I would happily come here again.
James Warner
Went there with a friend and got a pizza each to eat. Both cooked well and had a nice crusty and crunchy crust. They were so filling that we ended up sharing a Nutella Pana cotta and had a coffee each. Absolutely loved our meal
Elizabeth Roney
I never thought dominos would have been a better option!?!

Quality or value for money is not something this restaurant was striving for tonight.
Admittedly Uber eats was the vessel for transportation. However, stone cold pizza and a large ($26) calamari consisting of 7 "gigantic" pieces of cold squid can't be attributed to the delivery man.

On complaint to the restaurant, we were met with a rather lacklustre and absolutely dour response. The person spoke to was absolutely uninterested and advised that "large" portions were at the discretion of the chef and there is "nothing" he can do.

We were told the pizzas left there hot...

No apologies and no assurances this was an isolated incident.

What a rip off, what a waste of money, what horrible customer service and what substandard food.

Avoid this place.
Danny
Just ate here on our last night in Adelaide and definitely the best meal of our five night stay. Food was authentic Italian and spot on, service from Serena and ambience exceptional also. Was recommended to eat here by a local and it topped our stay!! Definitely worth a visit.
Matt Lynch
Nice decor, friendly staff. We ordered the arancini balls and the diavola pizza. The arancini balls were spot on. The pizza was simple and delicious however the thin crust was a little soggy in the middle.
Angie-Marie Piantadosi
One of our go-to restaurants when we are looking for some yummy Italian food! the wood oven pizzas are amazing (they do a 1 meter pizza) and the pasta range is great too, my favorite is the baked gnocchi! highly recommended and the staff are great, I would suggest booking as it gets very busy!
Kumal Prahat
Ordered a take-away pizza on a Saturday night in peak period and was ready within 15 minutes. Probably the best pizza crust I have had and gentleman on telephone was friendly. I feel a relationship blooming. Regards, Mr Prahat

Hands down best pizza in Adelaide! This place was buzzing on a Friday night, with bookings a must! Wow.... these pizzas had the most perfect crust, toppings were traditionally restrained but packed with flavour, cooked to perfection, indeed taking me back to Italy! Yummmm!
Dani
The best arancini balls ever! Great atmosphere and Love the food, pizzas can be a little thin at times but flavours are there and are beautiful :)
Secret Squirrel
Pizza place. It's on average I would say. Been here few times over the past year, depending on the time you come there can be long waits. Pizzas are simple, tasty, but still something missing. Polenta chips, eh, it's polenta how much taste can it have. Service friendly. Don't bother booking as they say they have booked your table but when you arrive they will not find it, it has happened twice over 6months.
Trevor
Dine here for the first time and we had the zuppa di cozze (mussels), gnocchi quattro formaggi, Margherita pizza. All the food was well good and tasted nice to me. The pizza may be bit bland for some people but I thought it was nice. Service was good and staff were friendly. Only bad point about this restaurant is that one of the cutlery was dirty.
It did get fairly busy later on the night so booking may be required. But overall everything was good and will dine here again.
Kryssyann
Antica maintain great social media accounts which pull you in but my experience was unfortunately pretty ordinary. Too much oil on top of the pizzas made for a soggy base and the crust was badly burnt. I was also unable to hold a conversation with my dining partner because the place was just too noisy!
Amanda Shepherd
We dined here on a Thursday evening. The pizza and pasta here was amazing! Keep up the good work. We will definitely be back for more :) Very handy to know that you also do take away as we have been struggling to find a good take away pizza place in the southern parts of Adelaide!

Went on Saturday night for a friend's 50th birthday - we had a booking at 7. I dropped in at 5:30 with one single helium balloon to ask if it could be tied to the chair. After standing there for 5 minutes trying to get the guy behind the counter's attention (when the restaurant was basically empty) I was told the table was being used! So no he doesn't say to me let me take it and when they leave I'll do it - I have to ask is it possible for him to do it when the table is clear to which he replied "tie it to the door" and walked away . I knew as soon as I walked out there was no way it was going to make it the 2 metres from where I'd tied it to the door to the chair! Surprise surprise when we arrive at 7:15 (15 minutes after our booking) it is still tied to the door handle!! After trying to get his attention again for another 5 minutes to thank him for taking the 30 seconds it would have taken him in the nearly 2 hours he had to do it he tells me he was "too busy" and that the table had only just been cleared (even though we were 15 minutes late and it was obviously clear when we arrived). His attitude was appalling - no sorry, or even acknowledgement that he'd genuinely forgotten. I know it's only a small thing but seriously these restaurants need to understand how important customer service is - it's how you get repeat customers!!! The food was nice but very rushed - we were literally putting the last of the starters in our mouth when our main courses arrived. Maybe your front of house staff (particularly the big guy with glasses) need a refresher course in customer service!
Poppie
Poppie thoroughly enjoyed his pizza at Antica king William road. Poppie ordered the Quattro formaggio on a tomato sauce base plus casalinga salami. It was sublimely delicious. The punch of the blue cheese, the crunch of the crust cooked perfectly. Went down nicely with an Aperol spritz. Very good wood oven pizza and friendly service from the trendy Italian waitress 😀. Having said all that, poppies first visit when he ordered a calzone was shambolic. It was incredibly dry and needed a lot more sauce. Alas, thumb up, definitely worth an eat.
Sweet Teeth
We attended Antica on a Friday evening with a group to celebrate Mr Sweet Teeth's birthday. It was a warm evening and dining outside made for lovely alfresco dining.

Since there was a group of us we opted to try the Gnocchi share platters and a couple of 1 metre pizzas. We were a little worried that perhaps this wouldn't be enough food but our helpful waiter reassured us it was.

The two Gnocchi platters we got were the Pesto & Macadamia and the traditional Napolatana. They were pretty big in size and everybody got a generous scoop of each. The gnocchi were soft and melted in your mouth but both sauces were lacking seasoning. Everyone on our table reached for the salt. Nonetheless they were quite enjoyable.

Next up were the pizzas that ran the whole length of the table. Although metre pizzas are a bit of a novelty, it's still quite exciting to see the big wooden boards being brought to the table.
With the choice of three different toppings per pizza, we got the chance to try 6 different types. Antica's pizza selections are quite traditional and there is the option of a tomato or white (minus the tomato sauce) base. My favourite was the Prawn and Zucchini pizza and for something different the egglplant parmigiana pizza (though there could've been a bit more eggplant.). The dough was puffy and chewy around the crusts and soft without being too soggy in the middle. Shamefully, I am yet to travel to Italy but have been told by those in the know that Antica's pizzas are pretty close to the real deal.

For dessert, and because the carbocide was not yet complete, we ordered the dessert pizza with Nutella and berries. This pizza was a delicious mess and did it's job of assuring every body had surely eaten enough.

Definitely a memorable birthday celebration!
Daniella Isabell
The pizza was really good but service was disappointing. Were presented with the dessert menu and were really keen to order one but then no one turned up for another 15 minutes, despite several attempts to get someone's attention. Ended up skipping dessert and just getting the bill. The bill on the other hand was brought over within 30 seconds.
Buongustaio 091
I am italian and I can guarantee Antica produces the best and authentic pizza in South Australia. If you people are looking for a piece of Italy in Adelaide, you'll find it definitely in there.
Good place for families with kids
Aunty Ol
Totally underwhelming service with barely any eye contact. I kinda expect a restaurant to offer me a glass when I order a beer rather than place the bottle on the table & walk away. The antipasti was really tasty but a pet hate is when two people go out to dinner & need to share 3 zucchini flowers. Really, just give us 2 each. The funghi pizza was nice but not great. With top service & way better pizza at Melt just a few doors down I will not be returning.
Suzanne Sweaney
Dined here yesterday.pizza was boring and gnocchi with Napoletana sauce was bland in flavour.dont mind paying a bit of money for decent food but this place not worth the price.may go back but not in a hurry.
Vivienne
This is a gorgeous restaurant with very authentic Italian pizza (thin dough, not too much cheese). The pizza base was beautiful quality with a lovely crunchy crust and delicious sauce. Everything we ordered was excellent. I highly recommend the dessert pizzas, especially if you're in a big group! We got the Nutella and berry ones, which were insanely good. Most of the mains cost about $25-$35 not including drinks or sides, so it's pretty pricey. But it's worth it for the quality of the food, the atmosphere and the wonderful service. If you're okay with spending around $40-$50 for dinner, I'd definitely recommend this place!
Ling Tan
I truly have no idea why I haven't written about this place sooner. We've been there a good few times, went there on my birthday last year and even stopped in late sometimes just for dessert. Because we felt like it. Antica Pizzeria on King William Road is easily one of my favourite overall pizza restaurants. Whether it's alfresco dining on a warm night, or inside watching the chefs do their thing, I've always loved coming here.
BJ
Good wholesome flavours in pizza. Rest of the menu was a bit bland & lacking 1) moisture and 2) seasoning.
Great décor, cool vibe. Bit pricey for what it was.
Eating Adelaide
Went here for lunch for a family function. Interior was lovely and staff were welcoming. We started with some entrées to share. The burrata, prosciutto, rocket and semi-dried tomato dish was absolutely beautiful- fresh ingredients and they really shone, the perfect way to start a meal. We also had the polenta chips and arancini which were also lovely. On to the pizzas for main! The bases were thin, just as they should be and covered with generous toppings. Tidying up some of the waiting would make for an even better experience, but a lovely day out nonetheless.
WhySpeakWhenYouCanEat
First time I was here the food was great, I came here a few weeks ago and it was horrible. Pizza was so soggy, could barley pick it up and the service is horrible. I was really disappointed, will not be returning
Pungeanello
Went here with my wife and friends, was looking forward to coming here for awhile.
The service was quite good and quick, the food was a bit mixed.
Entree we had a few different types, standout for me was the zucchini flower, was so yummy and full of flavour an cooked perfectly
The arancini was a bit mushy an bit bland.
I had the salumi pizza, was a bit disappointed to be honest.
Was very oily an soggy, salami didn't have much taste as did the pizza sauce base, found it very bland, but then again they do Naples cuisine whereas I'm used to calabrese which is traditionally a bit stronger in taste.
So in all it wasn't a bad night at all,the food was good but could be a lot better in my eyes, others may disagree but everyone's different
Adrian Porcaro
Antica is a traditional Napoletana pizzeria and Italian restaurant. It's a great place to grab some simple, familiar comfort food with family or friends.
If you've read any of my other reviews of pizzerias you will know how passionate I am about the topic. Antica do a great job of recreating the glory that is a traditional Napoletana pizza, however, for those like myself that are constantly searching for the closest thing to Napoli - there are better.

Food:
On our most recent visit we tried the special fettucine bolognese. The pasta was homemade and really, really nice - only seconds away from being 'al dente'. The bolognese sauce however was lacking a little bit of depth - perhaps needing to be left to develop for a little bit longer. Probably could have used a little more mince meat for flavour and texture too.
As for the pizza - it's great. I had a margherita with buffalo mozzarella because that's what a pizza should be. The highlight here is the sauce - the tomatoes are really tasty. The dough is cooked well in the oven, nice and fluffy with a few beautiful charred spots, however the dough itself is lacking in a little bit of flavour and could probably be stretched a little thinner. Perhaps just a touch more salt, or more resting time required. The buffalo mozzarella is a good quality but was torn into chunks that are slightly too large - which means you don't get that delicious melted tomato/cheese soupy run-off in the middle. Don't get me wrong though, it's still a really delicious pizza. I am only critical because I love pizza so much!
We also had the pear and walnut salad which was nice, but was a little smaller than expected for the price.

Service:
The staff were friendly enough. One of the waitresses was a little pushy and blunt but that's not something that's uncommon in Italy.

Ambience:
Antica has a nice warmth to it thanks to the wood oven. The decor is nice and there's plenty of outdoor seating too which is great for the warmer months.

Dish to look out for:
Obviously Margherita with buffalo mozzarella!
Billy Raditya
Absolutely the best pizzas in Adelaide. After having experienced great traditional pizzas in Italy, we were struggling to find a pizzeria to offer the same quality pizzas. But alas, we have found it.
Thin, light base accompanied by beautiful produce and cooked in a wood oven. Many places offer similar style pizzas but the pizzas at Antica seem more rustic, more homely. Toppings are kept to traditional styles (no tandoori chicken pizzas here) but the Margarita pizza is still a standout along with the quattro formaggio, diavola and the salsiccia.
DO NOT FORGET ABOUT DESSERT. I don't strongly recommend this enough. For lovers of Nutella, you may rejoice, a Nutella calzone and a dessert pizza is to die for.
They also offer BYO to bring your own bottle of a nice red Italian wine if you wish or they have a great (small, but still great) selection of wines.
And best of all the staff was absolutely superb. Very accommodating with that casual feel.
All in all Antica has become my favourite pizza joint in Adelaide.
Shirani Shaz Williams
This outting was a gathering of 15 friends in this restaurant.
The service of the staff were superb and the evening went off with a bang.
The food was more or less delivered at the same time considering the group size we were in quality of the food was first class and it was reasonably priced which was impressive considering the area we were in.
Would definitely return! Perhaps in a more intimate group though.
Try a metre long dessert pizza with Nutella filled crust.... I dare u!
Carmel
We went there for dinner one night and were seated outside with large heaters surrounding us. It was a lovely night which set the scene beautifully. We ordered the metre long pizza which was just amazing. We felt as if we were in Tuscany enjoying pizza al fresco style. The service was good too. We are going back to try the metre long dessert pizza next.

Absolutely frightful. Arrogant, unhelpful sevice. Dreadful food. Do yourself a favour walk right on by and go further up the road to Melt!!!

Best pizza in Adelaide!. Best pizza in Adelaide , we had the margherita and the funghi , even better than most places in Italy i would say , having been to Italy a few times. Keep it up the good Work guys!

Great pizza, magnificent Italian base.
Friendly staff and nice ambience .
Keep those beautiful pizzas coming!!
The cat

Dinner out with family. Very disappointing from the moment we arrived, very poor customer service from waiters with a bad attitude to boot.
The pizza's were burnt on the crust and soggy in the middle, we were not even able to get cold water.
Overall over priced and very unwelcoming, do not recommend this as a place to dine.
MD
MR T
It's ok but nothing to rave about!. We recently went their with the family and got the 1 metre pizza and entrees. Entrees were very very average and the polenta chips tasted like they sat in the deep fryer for 2 weeks prior. Pizza was a tad on the soggy side with a bit too much oil than I like. The toppings were a bit light on also but it did taste ok. Service was good but not great.
Emma.toker
Best Pizza in Adelaide. Love this place... by far the best pizza in Adelaide. Traditional Italian thin thin base with only a few toppings. For those that comment on the 'soggy' or 'thin' base..... go back to Dominoes where you can get your fat fluffy dry pizza base.

My husband can not get enough, it's our regular lunch go to destination

Oh and the desserts are to die for, especially the Nutella calzone, they certainly don't hold back on the Nutella goodness.. YUM! Before and after pic of my latest Nutella calzone has been added to photos

Ahhhmazzzing. The best food i have ever had. Authentic and very tasty. Service was great. I will definately be coming back and telling everyone i know.
Not a complaint just a suggestion.. some Italian music would be nice. See you again. Ciao

Best pizza in Adelaide. Had the Margherita and My friend the Gamberi pizza, absolutely delicious ! If you looking forma a real italiano pizza well this is the place to go !
Luciop1954
Napolitan pizza not. Today I visited the antica pizzeria for the first time. with me was two local friends and a visitor from argentina.we ordered the traditional margherita, to my disappointment the pizzas were ordinary and cardboard like .the waiter or partner was trying to find excuses. Authentic not , i'm from Napoli and speak from experience @
Jason Buchmann
Bad choice. Pizza bases were soggy which was massive let down. Waiters werent too poilite either including spilling drinks all over one of our tables.
Tjames
Pizza and service ordinary at best!. Had heard much hype around this place. Liked the look and feel of the decor but the pizza was second rate. Soggy base, crust was okay as were the polenta chips. However hospitality must be number one with any restaurant and Antica's service was ordinary at best.
S.cav
Delicious traditional pizza. With italian heritage and family from Napoli, I can honestly say that the pizza from Antica is just as delicious as it is over there. The base is perfect, I love that it needs to be folded up to be eaten and the Margherita can not be turned down. I have visit on several occasions and I'm on my way there again now.
Caro
Soggy pizza. This was our fourth visit to Antica. The first three times the pizza was great but this time although the pizza crust was great around the edge it was extremely soggy in the middle, middle being the majority of the pizza. We will give Antica a break for a while and maybe try it again in a few months hoping that the issue is sorted.
Dani
Loved it.. Stopped in for coffee and dessert this afternoon. Amazing coffee and the best tiramisu I have ever had! Very friendly staff. Will definitely come back and try the pizza.
Crab Cakes
This is THE BEST PIZZA IN ADELAIDE. Some people in Adelaide are just stupid and don't appreciate proper Italian food. You will only find authentic Neapolitan food here.

The food has been good on the 2 occasions we've been there and some of the waiters/waitresses have been very friendly and professional. One waiter has no social or communication skills, and abruptly decided to move us to another table with no prior notice or niceties after our main course. This was to the embarrassment of other staff, as well as to our discomfort. No apologies were offered.

Went in for dinner last night without a reservation. They were happy to sit 6 of us outside with heaters which we were more than happy to do. We were a little undecided on what to order as everything sounded delicious. Upon asking the waiter for his recommendation he rudely let us know the popular dishes. Heaven forbid we ask another question!! For entree we ordered arincini and a selection of cold meats and roasted veg. The rice balls were beautiful, crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. Had a beautiful stretchy cheese in the middle and lapped with a delicious tomato sauce on top. Very nice! Unfortunately for the cold meat platter being almost $30 we thought we would get more of a selection. 3 horribly thick pieces of mortadella, fatty pancetta, two slices of cheese, some olives and and overly garlic roasted veg. Tad disappointed there. For mains we were looking for gluten free and the waiter assured us they made gluten free pizzas. In terms of the base, top notch guys! It wasn't dry or grainy or like some places- like cardboard. It was beautifully crisp with the perfect amount of chew. The prosciutto and rocket pizza was by far my favourite. The saltiness of prosciutto combined with the pepperiness of the rocket and sweetness of the cheese. This was a huge hit! Great little addition was the E.V.O they had on the tables for us to pour over our fresh pizza. Instantly lifted the flavours. Great pizza! Second pizza was the vegetariana pizza. I found some of the veg undercooked, I'm usually all for undercooked veg but found on the pizza it didn't work. It was beautifully flavoured. Had the right amount of seasoning, just a shame about those undercooked veg. Lastly we had margarita. Pleasantly surprised it wasn't a traditional Australian margarita with sliced tomato. Instead beautiful sauce with a few fior di latte pieces. As a whole think it lacked a bit of flavour. Some fresh basil and drizzle of oil would have really lifted the simple flavours. Immediately after dinner we were asked if we wanted dessert. There was no rest. No break they clearly wanted us out fast! We asked for a little break to digest and according to the waiter it was a little much to ask for. He was Not happy. For dessert we had ordered a Nutella pana cotta and a mascarpone mixed berry pizza with Nutella stuffed crust. Being a Nutella freak had high expectations. The Nutella pana cotta was smooth and nutellary. Very nice along with the biscotti. As for the pizza it was nothing special. Just as the menu describes pizza with mascarpone, berries and Nutella stuffed in the crust. Tad undercooked in areas was no wow factor. Overall, the food was good, fresh and tasty. Just a pitty about the poor service. Seemed as though all the happy waiters were inside and the poor diners outside got mr grumpy pants. Sort him out and I'll be back again!!

Ok Pizza. The pizza was ok, the service was terrible. Had my hand up in the air several times trying to order dessert pizza. Always has to ask for water, had to again wave down someone interested to get the bill. They do two sittings here, 6 and 8. We were the early sitting, generally people don't need two hours for pizza, so between 7-8 most people had finished and left the atmosphere dead, and most of the tables empty.

Meant to write a review a few weeks ago but was reminded to when I went back. Decided to go last minute and was booked out but the staff were very graceful about it. Very sad to miss out after my perfect pizza last time! Absolutely incredible margeurita with added buffalo mozzarella, simple but delicious and a generous size that spilled off the plate, great service from some lovely Italian girls and a warm atmosphere with beautiful decor, despite being full last night I will head back and be sure to book first!

Pizza was nice but service so bad. Had to waive frantically for anything and ended up walking to counter to ask for anything and dessert.

Popped in for a quick Sunday night meal and was transported back to Italian for an hour. Service was brilliant, pasta al dente as it should be and pizzas delicious. You want inches of topping try Pizza Hut. All meat freshly sliced paper thin and bases full of flavour. Aguri and we wish you all the success, You deserve it

Love Antica pizza. Had a Boscaiola & Margherita today. If you know pizza you know this is authentic Neapolitan pizza. Beautiful crust & not over crowded with toppings . Delicious and love the beers & decor. If you want pineapple on your pizza or a "meat lovers" with BBQ sauce go somewhere else

Nice place. Funny how everyone is Italian and it is like they have just docked off the boat into Adelaide!! Food was great, service was honest. Set up was smart too.

Authenticity & Intent. At Antica it's easy to see that the food is being taken seriously, one look at the steely resolve on the face of the pizza chef in the open kitchen tells you that this is indeed a serious business. More than that one gets a sense that all of the ingredients have been seriously considered too. The intent is to create an authentic experience. Initially you may baulk a little at the prices; after a short wait you may gasp in horror at the lack of topping on your pizza but wait, forget your preconceptions, just eat and experience. Less is more, truly taste the food, don't expect to be slapped in the face by flavours. If you're still unhappy well, you might just be hard to please but the way I figure it if you take the time to really experience Antica you'll walk out feeling pretty good. Recommendation: Say, four people, a glass or two of wine each, two pizzas to share, two desserts and plenty of conversation. Don't go expecting a buffet, go to enjoy good food and good company.

Base was dry and horrible. Pizza was scabby and had hardly any toppings!
Having been to places like Atica and goodlife in adelaide this is way under standard and no way worth the money!
Save yourself the bother and book at any other place!!!

Fantastic. I was in Napoli last February to watch some good Soccer while I was there I frequented quite a few Pizza Bars, They were great, Antica matches the best of all the ones we visited. I have been back to Antica 5 times and they have never failed to deliver great meals, great service and the staff were all friendly and knew their products I give them a rating of 10 out of 10 and I am going back wednesday

This is EXACTLY how the pizza in Naples is. I read the other reviews and the ones that knock it just don't get it. This is pizza the italian way! Unfortunately we've been brainwashed into thinking that loading up a fat base with so many toppings that you can't tell what your eating is "real pizza"- don't think so. Pizza is fantastic, fit out awsome and real Italians serving you! If you don't like it stick to the crap Pizza Hut or dominosis serving!

Okay but.... It was okay, we had the Eggplant & Mozerlla dish for entry which was nice. The pizza's though were nice werent anything special.
The pizza's are better than your average pizza shop but in my opinion dont compare to the pizza's that come out of Etica & EST. The base was to crunch and there wasnt enough sauce so it was a little dry. Also the sauce just didnt have a unique taste to it. However the pork sausage on it was delicious.
I will give it a crack again though because they are new and like i said wasnt bad just wasnt great in comparrison to other places.

Best wood oven pizza in town, authentic and beautifully made! Defiantly worth a visit. Staff brilliant

Worth a visit ?. Nice fit out and good use of pavement area. If you can sit outside on a warm day it's got a good atmosphere. Food tasted good. Wine by the glass seemed a bit mean - looked more like a 100 ml for $8, better off getting a bottle. The pizza base tasted great - made in a big wood fired oven, but the mushroom pizza had just mushrooms and cheese for $24, though the wild mushrooms were tasty. The affogato we ordered without the frangelico - just coffee shot and ice-cream was $10 - overpriced. It's good to get a new restaurant with authentic Italian food, but wasn't convinced it was good value.

Love it.... Best new restaurant to open on King William Rd in a long time. Beautiful fit out. They've made great use of the prime location with outdoor seating right in the street. I love the atmosphere of the place, and the wood oven is incredible! And most importantly they deliver on service and food! Definitely coming back soon, can't wait to try the dessert calzone!

Don't bother. Very disappointing vege pizza- unless you think a few bits of a mushroom, pickled capsicum and three bits of eggplant with two bits of cheese makes one ! Will not buy again. Think they are taking the Mickey.
Mark Robinson
Takeaway vegetarian pizza was very poor indeed. Very spare topping, mostly just bland cheese, half a full mushroom across the whole pizza, maybe 5 olives and a couple of slivers of eggplant. Will not be going there for takeaway or sit down again. I should have checked the pizza B4 I left - make sure you do.

Antica Pizzeria is set amongst other popular shops and eateries along the busy King William Road cafe precinct. Finding out what was on offer from their website indicated they had both a lunchtime and dinner menu. The lunchtime menu consists of a selection of antipasto, piadinas and wood oven pizzas with either a tomato or white base.

We ventured out for a birthday at the newly opened pizzeria on King William Road in Hyde Park called Antica Pizzeria. This new pizzeria opened their doors for the first time just after Christmas, so it had only been operating for a week.

After a much needed catch up with friends, I (Mirko) decided to visit Antica Pizzeria with friends Lynda, Linda and Hieu for a nice dinner catchup. Antica Pizzeria has been open for some time now, but I just haven't had the chance to visit. When it was suggested that this is where our dinner catch up was to be held, I jumped at the chance to try it out. Upon arrival we were seated at our table and presented with menus. Given that we hadn't caught up for some time, it took us a while to look at the menu items and place an order but we finally decided on one pasta dish and two pizzas between the four of us.
