Review Yum Cha Cuisine - Indooroopilly

The food was absolutely delicious! I didn't mind the robots bringing out the food, I suppose it saves time, but it is very impersonal! Also the dirty dishes were not cleared from the table! If we were supposed to do that ourselves, we should have been told, so we knew to do it!

the food was very yummy and staffs were lovely, even though it was very busy today, they still took a good care of me.

Had a wonderful family meal together , great service ,food , staff friendly helpful. Definitely coming back

If I could give no star I would. Overpriced, terrible service, and awful old food. Nothing tastes fresh. Our waiter delivered the soy & chilli at the end of our meal. Had to ask staff for napkins. The greens tasted old & overcooked. Dumplings tasted like they were frozen and had been sitting in a warmer. Fried rice was below average… I have been here many times in the past with a good experience however after today and my most previous visit the quality has declined 100% and we will not be returning..

The dishes are quite good. I've had better but one of the better ones I have found in Brisbane area. They are quite large dishes compared to other yum cha restaurants so pace yourself when ordering. There are also robots delivering some of the food which the kids like.

Excellent Chinese restaurant. Have been coming here for yum cha for about 18 months. Quality is always great, staff are always friendly. I am yet to find anywhere better in the Brisbane area and I have tried many.

Great food and good service despite having only 2 people on for lunch service. Food is tasty and well priced, winner would be the bbq pork pastry which is limited and was unable to get as sold out at 12:30

Had a huge yum cha craving and decided to go back to Yum Cha Cuisine because last time is was really good. Fast forward a year later and it was so disappointing. Nothing tasted fresh and the chicken legs lacked flavour and felt like poor quality as well. Service wasn't great either especially since they won't even that busy.

Everything is just okay. I’ve been three or four times and it’s always the same. There are definitely better yum cha options in Brisbane.

We visit this Yum Cha restaurant as it is close to home. The service has improved markedly and I see the Owner/Manager helping out the wait staff. The Dim Sum from the uploaded photos is regular Yum Cha fare. Prices for these dishes were $6.30, $7.30 and $8.30 which is steep compared with Sunnybank restaurants.

We enjoyed our meal in this comfortable restaurant and the the improved service is a plus! Thank you Guys!

Visited here last night for dinner and had Yum Cha, we ordered a number of dishes including Prawn dumplings, steamed BBQ pork buns, spring rolls, bbq pork, Asian greens and rice fried.
I thought the food was pretty good, in particular I really enjoyed the prawn dumplings, bbq pork buns, greens and fried rice. These dishes were cooked very nicely and had great taste.
The spring rolls weren’t great, they were very crispy but the filling wasn’t particularly nice.
Definitely up there with some of the places I’ve visited for Yum Cha in Sunnybank but it is a bit more expensive. The air con is also super cold so just be aware of that. Worth a try if you like Yum Cha :)

The food tasted okay, staff not unpleasant but did not respond with any "you're welcome" in response to thanks. We were served a steamer basket with a little squished cockroach on the rim. I brought it to the managers attention and they were very nice about it, but it hadn't been very appetizing to have it sitting on our table for half the meal (they're not particularly quick to clear empty plates) and makes me feel a bit worried about food safety that this made it out of the kitchen.

Edit: so this place has moved to the other side of shopping town in a nicer spot with a revamped menu that is actually quite improved with a lot of new prawn dumplings options. My only complaint now is that prices seem a bit too high for me to make this place a regular fixture.

I've been here a few times and if you're an experienced yum chaee and know what to order this place is quite decent but the menu really is a minefield for newbies. If you stick to the dumplings and duck it's always pretty good. A lot of the more exotic dishes never go well with my Aussie palate and stomach.

Some days you just feel like yum cha, but without traveling to Sunnybank or the Valley. These guys have been around for a while and today we went to the Indooroopilly one.

Plenty of tables if you get there before lunch time say noon, seated and greeted quickly. Table and menu service before lunch time carts, service was friendly.

We know what we want went we visit, we ordered when they took drinks order, pork and prawn dim sims, wet rice paper rolls, steamed veggies with oyster sauce, braised chicken feet, beef tripe, and of course orawn dim sims plus lunch time special of beef fried noodles.

What happens is we usually over order and this time was no different. Food comes out pretty quickly once you order. And they will help clear dishes that are finished. Food as always tasted good, with a touch of soy and chilli sauces that comes at your table. Some other places charge extra if u ask for extra but this place is no charge so far.

Nice place for a quickly lunch time meal.

The food was really great!!! I loved the variety of dim sum available and the custard bun 流沙包 was amazing!!! It's a convenient alternative to sunnybank and I'll definitely come back again when I'm craving dim sum but lacking the energy to travel to sunnybank.

We went there for yum cha at around 11 am and was offered a table straightaway. The waiter instantly took away a seat from the table to give room for our pram. We ordered some dim sims from the menu and they arrived within minutes. Great service and good food highly recommended

I always love the food at this restaurant. We had their chicken and salty fish fried rice, BBQ pork buns, Chinese broccoli and other small dishes from their yum-Cha menu. The food was hot and tasted good, however some of the dishes took a while to come out. The staff were not attentive, so the service wasn't the greatest. I do love the food though, there wasn't anything bad I would say about that but I think service is really important and if they trained their employees to be more attentive and friendlier I would give Yum Cha Cuisine a rating of 5!
CL
Went there for lunch, had their steam pork rice, food is ok, but their staffs were not very polite, it wasn't busy as there's just a few customers in the restaurant, there was no smile, no greeting, nothing. Personally I think customer service is very important, and that's the reason I don't think I will go back. Rated it 3 points just for the food I had, I'd rate more if they had a decent service provided to me.
Brendan
Substandard - the steamed rice noodle was served cold, and the salt and pepper squid is now served with half as much squid and twice as much batter.

A surprisingly nice dinner option, in a little hidden corner of the shopping centre. We ordered turnip cakes, roast duck, and chinese brocolli with oyster sauce were all good renditions of yum cha staples. The stand out dish was chicken lettuce cups which are a play on san choy bow with diced chicken and mushrooms. We have previously been for Sunday lunch but found it a little noisy crowded with the yum cha trolleys clanging around. But at dinner time it has a nice atmosphere and you still having the freedom to order from the yum cha menu, the alacarte menu or mix and match.

Awful food. I ordered $88 special weeks ago. Including fried rice, it's too oilly and burned, tasteless. Soup tasted like water but very salty. Roast duck, it was cooked without seasonings, really tasted boring Definitely never go back again.
Tony
It was a terrible experience this time than before, tasteless food and no service. The manager told me they changed a new chef a year ago, I ordered couple stir fry dishes and taste like been boiled, it's better get take away instead. I won't go back again!

Went with the family and, like any good Yum Cha, there is something for everyone. The service from the staff was excellent, and we felt really well looked after.

The food was delicious, and the kitchen and general dining experience was excellent.

I particularly enjoyed the a la carte portion of the yum cha and was able to order my favourite Yum Cha items.

The price was comparable to Chinese restaurants outside shopping malls and a real surprise.

Went with one of the $45 voucher for 10 courses as recently been flooded in Groupon. I have to say the deal is very good value and give u the taste of half yum cha & half lunch. Good for people dunno what to order. Food are delicious but far too much to be honest (we have to takeaway 1/3 of it). Conveniently located in the new extension of Indro Shopping Centre (opposite Coles), modern decor & reasonable standard price,

This place has become a weekly dine in experience for my wife and I the food is excellent and we have never had to wait long for our food.

Green tea should probably be cheaper but hey the food has decent pricing.

It was my first time here and I came with a friend. We were looking forward to trying yum cha as it had been a while since we last ate at a yum cha restaurant. Unfortunately we left early, disappointed in the service and quality of the food that was given to us. Food took ages to arrive (my friend and I spent at least 1 hour waiting for food), and the waiters often ignored us when we tried to reorder more food. Other tables which arrived and ordered after us managed to get their food quicker than ours- despite our table ordering the same dish and much earlier. The food and presentation itself is average but in combination with its high price and poor service; I don't think I will be returning here.

N/B: I wrote this review while waiting for my food, but ended up leaving as half of my order didn't arrive. Definitely will not be returning here.

It used to be my favourite 5 stars Yum Cha Restaurtant ...But it is now only 1 star if I am generous.
I arrived the restaurant at around 11:00am and the first dim sum they served seems like reheat from yesterday leftover and just taken out from microwave....adding to this, the beef rice noodle is the worse I have ever tasted, the texture is weird and doesn't taste like beef. It tasted like a "fake meat" !!!!.

I used to go there for Yum Cha because of the convenience, but now I would stay away from it!!! I knew they change owner recently because they sold it to franchisees. But they should at least make sure the franchisee keep the basic quality! It really bring down the whole brand name. What a shame !!!

It was a very horrible experience. My family used to love this place as it is very convenient for shopping afterwards.

But today it was a very horrible experience. First the trolleys never come to our table. The staff kept chatting with each other and the manager was not even looking when we have been raising our hand for like 5 minutes for service!

Then we got our dim sim Siu mei, it did not look good in its appearance and it tasted not good too....

Then we got the steam pork ribs, the meat was pink so I spit it out and I asked the manager to cancel it. The manager said ' oh maybe I need to show the pork to the chef as sometimes it can look pink even cooked'. Then we just said no we did not want this dish anymore no matter what the chef was going to say as it tasted undercooked! Then the manager reluctantly cancelled the dished for us.

All the other dishes we ordered tasted really horrible and we decided not to even finish them and leave!

The cashier just told us they did change to a new chef recently.... It was very bad food and very bad service.... We are not going there anymore as it is always overpriced compared to the yum Cha places in Sunnybank anyway!

Brissy friends brought us here on our recent stay. This is one of their local faves and I can see why. Being from Melbourne I wasn't expecting good yum cha in Brisbane, especially since this place is in a shopping centre in the burbs, but it did surprise on a few levels. Firstly, great friendly service. The staff could not be more helpful which is very unexpected for any Chinese restaurant ;) We didn't have to wait for trolleys, but simply ordered our choices from a menu with pictures. Very convenient if you are not a yum cha officianado. Disappointingly there were no more egg custard tarts left or dau fu fa (tofu dessert) the day we visited, but all the dishes we ordered were good including the chicken sticky rice, steamed prawn dumplings, rice noodle wrapped barbecue pork, deep fried minced pork packages (we call them footy's as they are shaped as such), steamed barbecue pork buns, steamed custard buns, steamed pork dumplings, deep fried branched wrapped prawns and Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce. The kids also enjoyed HUGE bowls of mango pudding for dessert. The only dish that was not up to standard was the steamed Shanghai juicy pork dumplings (xiao long bao). They were a bit bland and overcooked. But overall this place is good with some big semi private tables in the back for large groups.

Really delicious yum cha with lots of options on the trolley! Quick lunch if you need it to be. The pork and prawn dumplings were delicious!

Worth a visit. We came here for a yum cha lunch. For four people the bill was only around the $60 mark so it was pretty good value (and we ordered a lot of food). We had no complaints about the vegetarian or seafood dishes, but I would've liked to have seen more meat in the spare pork ribs dish (the sauce in that one was quite moreish though). The service was quite good and the staff were very helpful in deciding dishes, though we did have to ask a couple of times for water. All in all, this place was a very good choice for lunch.

Going Downhill. This branch of Yum Cha Cuisine was a long-awaited welcome to Indooropilly as there weren't any good Chinese joints within a 2-mile radius. When it first opened, food was on par with that of good yum cha places in Sunnybank. We were thankful then that we didn't have to drive to Sunnybank anymore for yum cha.

In the last 10 months though, the food has been going downhill at a very fast rate. Food is salty, laden with MSG and ingredients are very, very poor, using MSG and salt to mask poor quality meats. My last visit there this month, every yum cha dish was appalling. Greasy, salty, meats tasted old and the prawns in the dumplings were decaying.

Sigh, so much potential but sadly, I won't be back now.

Poor Management, False advertised menu. Ordering a live Coral Trout which cost $88, we expect some type of fine food but we had to wait for more than 1hour to be served with an uncooked frozen coral trout???? We did not even eat the fish after the first try because of the terrible smell and taste of a frozen fish. No explaination from the staff and management team ?? Got charged full price ?? Would never go back there again

Don't come the raw prawn. Oh dear. Raw prawns in the fried rice. Told by polite young gentleman that all the dishes look like that...hmmmmm. Draw your own conclusion from that. Paid $4.50 each for two cans of lemonade....and the staff looked at me like I was getting a bargain! Unlikely to go back. Will head back to the reliable Fortitude Valley yum cha.

Been twice and will go again. Food was good, a tad salty, but very Chinese. Service was impressive.

Clean warm fast authentic yum cha. Comparable to sunnybank or Melbourne. Great service too. Try the duck and prawn dumplings or prawn har gao

Authentic Cantonese Yum Cha but... This is one of the places in Brisbane that serve very authentic tasting yum cha dishes. Their yum cha dishes like siu mai - pork dumpling, har gow - prawn dumpling and chicken feet taste like they should do unlike many of the places around Brisbane which I describe as serving imitation yum cha.

The downside is prepare to be charged excessively for Chinese tea and be forced to leave your table once you look like you have finished eating - they will start taking away not just the empty yum cha baskets but your cutlery and then guilt you to stand up and leave.
R
Overpriced yum cha.
Andrew
Food is only barely average. Much better yum cha at Sunnybank, and cheaper too. Don't expect to sit and linger after your meal, because as sure as day turns into night, you'll be given the big hint to get out. This restaurant is just concerned with table turn around, and doesn't care about customer experience at all. Much better choices elsewhere!

Great Place for Dinner. I ate at Yum Cha Cuisine last night, and I thought it was fantastic! Fast and attentive service and the food was yummy. We got a honey chicken to share the chicken was really high quality which you don't always find with honey chicken dishes. The dumplings and pork buns were huge and very tasty. I will be going back.
Sharon
Love it. Quick service, food is hot and the restaurant clean. We are regulars!

Great service and staff are very friendly. They definitely get points for that however their chefs need to improve ion their dim sum. Their siew long pau is the worst I have ever had. The dough was gluggy, clearly undercooked and there was hardly any liquid in it. The dishes are very westernized, not the ideal place if you are after some authentic dim sum.
Vinh Nguyen
Sunnybank/China Town is better. The service was good, the place looks nice but the food isn't up to standard.
The food was far too salty and portions were very small for the price.
Better off making the trip to either sunnybank or chinatown

Diner Review. How much a head for yum cha can we get people to pay? We had a dinner with 4 small dishes but the bill was $70 for 2 people. I'm so angry.. because I came from Hong Kong :(The food is not good enough to charge that much.Remember do not go there have dinner.. It's just bloody expensive!!!

New local. Great to have authentic dim sim in the west, pleasant surrounds and great tasting food, service well above other yum char restaurants, Asian restaurants are not renowned for there service the only exception i know of would have to be " The Flour Drum" in Melbourne. try $200 per head !
Some folk on this site simply have no idea about today's modern restaurant struggle, spending less than $30per head in a sit down, table service restaurant ! What do you expect ? there first born child! $30 is cheap! how much do you think Westfield are charging these poor people to occupy this small spot?
It is painfully obvious that Management needs to maintain a high occupancy to pay, what I imagine to be an expensive rent.
YES, Maybe they could be more diplomatic in there request to vacate tables during peak demand, I will continue to support this restaurant and wish them every success,

How much a head for yum cha can we get people to pay? We had standard yum cha fare, but the bill was $89 for 3 people. $2.20 charged per head for tea; never been charged for tea at yum cha in that way before. Our happiness at having a local yum cha was short lived. Back to Sunnybank. The food is not good enough to charge that much.

An unexpected find hidden at Indooroopilly shopping centre. The first dinner we had was duck with orange sauce and a beef with black bean sauce. The duck was exceptional and highly recommended. Hard to beat finding yum cha food at night in the burbs! A shame that it is only Sun - Wed. The steamed dumplings are delicious and the variety just right. Best new food is the flower jelly - yum!
The Food Oracle
Very good service and delicious food. The roast pork is hit or miss, sometimes amazing and sometimes old and a bit dry.
Satay squid is also a favourite along with the corn and prawn dumplings.

We went there for lunch, I was not happy with the service. The staff were very unfriendly and unhelpful. They served us hot tap water, when I asked for some ice the waiter got very upset and didn't bring me any anyway. The service was inconsistent with how they treated other customers from different nationalities. To clear up my partner and I are both Australian and we were not treated very nicely at all. Will not be eating there again.
Cyril Deault
The food was great. We felt a bit rushed . We ate and we were out within 45 minutes. So if you want a fast meal , this is your place. This is definitely not a place to come and mingle.
Rochelle Cote
After reading the reviews, we were a bit skeptical but I can say that the food was fantastic! However, if you are expecting a very relaxed, social setting, this is not the place for you. The food came very quickly, which was great and we were done in 45 minutes and stuffed. Kind of like the fast food version of dim sum. I would recommend going for 10:30, and ordering off menu. It took about 5-10 for dishes to appear and then the carts started coming around. Were frequent and staff were very friendly. Did feel a bit rushed but, we weren't waiting for anything. Will be going back for sure! Maybe even next weekend.
Chloe Wang
Poor management. We ve been waiting more than 1hour after ordering the banquet for 2, only been served with entree. What pissed me off is other customers who ordered at the same time with us have almost finished their food! Very disappointing, never go back again!
Huhucat
I went there for three times and have to say every time I go, I feel more and more disappointed. The only reason I went there is because there are not many decent Asian restaurants in this neighborhood. Maybe my expectation is too high. However, the food there does not worth the money. Will not recommend this restaurant to my friends.
Lol King
Steam pork chop has no flavor, neither as steam chicken feet. the owners has to train themselves to service customers better instead of how to make money more efficiently, coz business success will follow after the customer satisfition.
Maria Star
As an Asian the food was nothing special . It was just way too expensive for that meal!

Decent food BUT HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT. Short version

decent food, well-trained staff, but rude, obnoxious, arrogant, and condescending managers/owners.

Long Version

The Good: The servers were patient, courteous, and quite professional despite the fact that establishment was fairly new. I have to complement Clement, one of the servers that stood out as an all-around great chap that was one of the very few bright spots of our meal there. The food was not too shabby. I enjoyed the beef intestines and radish cakes.

The bad: Hands down one of the most obnoxious, arrogant, and condescending managers/owners I have had the displeasure of dealing with in my 4 years of dining in Brisbane. 70 minutes into the meal, we were informed rather sternly by the owner that our booking session is over, and that their bookings were for an hour at a time only. We were still eating and ordering food at that time, and that really struck me as unusual. Annoyed, but understanding (a really long queue was forming outside, we get it), we tried to flag down a server to take the last round of orders. A server came, took our orders, upon which he was reprimanded by the owner. He then gave us the most menacing look and told us to leave as soon as possible. He then stormed off. Drama drama. After that, someone we presume to be an administrative staff came to our table, and apologetically told us that they were really busy, and they would appreciate it if we could finish off our orders and clear the table. We explained that we were never told of the one hour limit, and there was a little back and forth between us. It was then that some another manager came over and screamed at the admin staff, you didn't tell them! you didn't tell them, did you! Drama drama. After that, we gave up, finished our remaining orders and left the place, swearing never to return until they get their (expletive) together. Have to admit, I have had the pleasure of dining at a lot restaurants all over Brisbane. This is the first time where I was chased off while I was still eating and ordering. Ridiculous.
Jik_94
Bad customer service. The food was good.the waitress and waiters were friendly. Big disappointed to the person in-charge's attitude. He was extremely rude!
AP
Poor management. First of all I have to compliment for the great tim sum offered here and the friendly waiters and waitresses. Unfortunately, it was also the most stressful dining experience I have ever had. One of the in-charge 'informed' us how we had to finish the meal within an hour for our booking and before we could understand the whole situation, all of us were absolutely appalled at his rude attitude. I was completely sure that we were not told of this when we arranged the booking via phone i.e. it is certainly not our fault that we had exceeded the hour. Instead of being apologetic for the confusion, it was out of the imaginary thereafter. Supervisor reprimanding the other on top of her voice questioning repeatedly whether she had told us there was an one-hour limit, attracting all unnecessary attention and tension among the others in the restaurant. I am unsure if there is any other better way to tarnish your branding like that. We wanted to make our last orders as quickly as possible to finish up for the other customers because prior the knowledge of the strict one-hour time limit, we did not complete our orders as much as we wanted to. Isn't it a basic courtesy to wait for the customers to finish their order before chasing all of us out? It was supposedly a beautiful sunday morning spending some time with the loved ones but this is far beyond any of our expectations. No matter how tasty your menu has to offer, without any proper 'customer service', it can taste and feel worse than anything else, just fyi. Good luck for the rest, as I have said the food was sure awesome but something is definitely lacking there.
Jamie
Awesome! Finally a great yum cha in the west! Fast, fresh, yummy

One of the great additions to the development is the Gourmet Fresh area on the bottom level. Housing supermarkets and fresh fruit, fish, meat, a deli and a bakery; it is also the spot to find lunch or dinner. We chose to try Yum Cha Cuisine, which was surprisingly busy for lunch on Monday. The trollies were piled high and came around very regularly. We chose a range of their dumplings and a plate of their deep fried squid. I recommend the steamed duck and prawn rolls, which were moist and stuffed full of meat. Yum Cha Cuisine is open daily until 9pm and is fully licensed. Look out for other dining options in the centre too – Hakata Ramen upstairs in the food court and soon to open Harajuku Gyoza and Nantucket Kitchen and Bar. Level 1, Indooroopilly Shopping Centre
