Great authentic thai food with fast and friendly service. Portion size is fantastic. Chicken cashew nut is highly recommended! 💯
A little known gem in the heart of indro 💎💎
Visited this restaurant for dinner. It’s a lovely little restaurant with a simple decor. Very cozy. Staff were very lovely too with quick service.
First they offered us vegetarian crackers which were nice, warm and crunchy. We had a kind of vegetarian noodles, Fresh ginger with coconut rice. They both were very tasty. I loved the coconut rice.
We will definitely visit again
Love this place! A great local gem. The spring rolls are the best we have had for a long time. Regularly get the green curry and pad see ew. Only recommendation would be more vegies in the meals, but a common issue across most thai restaurants.
Super delicious food and very reasonable price! Will definitely be back, the only downside was our curry was mainly liquid with not a huge amount of vegetables or meat in it. I know it's curry but it felt like they were just a little bit more frugal than necessary.
Love the sticky rice with mango and the curries, especially the massaman. They're also very nice in adjusting the spiciness so even finicky kids will eat their food.
I love this place but last time was a bit average. The massaman especially disappointing. Lacked flavour. Watery coconut with a couple of horrible bits of beef and way too many potatoes.
Delicious food at affordable prices. Friendly, timely service and great atmosphere. I will definitely be back again and would recommend this place to friends and family.
Have been a patron here for years!! Even before I was old enough to be adventurous with my food. They never fail to deliver an incredible meal and the prices are friendly for students. Can't go wrong with Thai Aroy!!
Yummy!. We are visitors from Melbourne. Wish this gem of a place was my local. Friendly staff and quick service. We sat outside and ate good food, it was perfect. Took me back to Thailand. Good, fresh, reasonably priced food. Go!
Finally got my fix!. For the last few months I had been craving some amazing authentic Thai food. Over the years I've had so many misses, paying decent money for something that I could have possibly outdone in my own kitchen.
So, early in the week the decision was made to give Thai Aroy a crack. Upon arrival my heart kind of sunk, I was hoping for a slightly more intimate restaurant setting, but I put my expectations aside and took a table out the front. We started with the fish cakes which were light, yet filling and had a nice fragrance of lemongrass when broken open. My partner and I ordered a main each to share with a side of coconut rice.
My choice was the Red Curry w/ Chicken - HOT-, and my partner opted for the Basil Leaves (stir fry with beef) - Hot
The beef and basil dish looked amazing as it was placed before us, the green beans were aplenty, still green with a good fresh crunch from not cooking the life out of them, fresh chopped chilli of various colours, and the bright reds of the capsicum gave the dish a whole new appeal! It was seriously tasty, fresh and spicy like I had hoped.
The (Hot) Red Curry with Chicken was also amazing and fresh, fantastic balance. The heat was perfect, almost ready to break a sweat but not quite, the heat just complimented the freshness of the ingredients.
What was noted after was that the heat is just perfect in the way that it quickly subsides to leave almost a clean fresh palate.
We actually spent the last part of our meal trying to pencil in a return date in the very near future.
After so many average thai meals in Brisbane over the years, if there is consistency here I can safely say Thai Aroy will be my new go to Thai restaurant.
*Due to the limited seating and size of the venue I would recommend booking ahead if you are a party of two or more.
Very nice try the red chicken curry hot!
Consistently delicious, reasonably priced authentic Thai cuisine. Recently moved out of the area and would make the trip back to eat here!
Consistently delicious, authentic Thai food. Always open and always quick and friendly.
Great Thai take-away. Had thai take away from this place a number of times, it is always great! Yum yum yum! Great fish cakes, thai green curry, pad thai and more!
Incredibly friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Food was fast, fresh and delicious! Will make this a regular eating place for sure. Great gluten free and vegan options and other allergy options.
Drunken noodles!. Went on a quiet day where we were the only ones in the restaurant. We ordered the drunken noodles, massaman curry and pad thai. All dishes were in generous portions; the noodle dishes were definitely better than the curry. The noodles were slippery, well-balanced and the drunken noodles had a good kick of chilli. The curry was a bit too sweet for my liking, and could have done with some more veges. Will definitely be back for drunken noodles though!!
Mmmmm Thai. If you like Thai food, this is the restaurant I would recommend for Brizzie's inner Western Suburbs. It's always fresh, with lots of veggies, and some good authentic flavours.
Thai Aroy - Indooroopilly, Brisbane. Thai Aroy is a fantastic find, located in a place that is actually not too inconvenient or unfortunate for business. That does not mean it is particularly inviting - just a short dash from the train station it is amongst a small number of shops and boutiques next to an apartment block. It is the originial hub of the popular restaurant with such apparent popularity and there are many reasons why.
It has a definite cuteness to it without going over the top. Inside is well decorated and lit with a fish tank which always is a welcome sight - it can make a person relaxed just by looking at it. Having the al fresco tables is always a welcoming option; in spite of it being right next to the car parks - probably because of a barrier - it did not feel uncomfortable.
The service definitely showed signs that the lady was trying and being friendly not to mention really competent. Her English skills were a bit hard to understand both over the phone (I booked a table for two) and in-person; however English is quite a hard language to learn especially from an Asian langauge perspecitve.
It was first time for an appetiser; my friend thought some fish cakes could be good. These were quite good, being pretty hot thermally making them a little hard to eat at first. They were served with some sweet chili sauce. A simple and familar fare but a good one nonetheless.
After much weighing up in deciding what to order, the first main I attempted to get was Kai Tod Had Yai with Sticky Rice - sort of a Thai-style fried chicken. They did not have any of some ingredient (I could not catch what she said) so that was not entirely possible. However, I inquired of their specialty: soft shell crab.
It is not on the menu that they give you, but all you need to do is ask and they will bring out a board with the flavour options - I went with the garlic and pepper flavour. On the side, I got coconut rice - always good and with a lovely little flavour to it.
The soft shell crab was delicious - the sweetness of the meat was divine and the simple flavours of garlic and pepper were an astute combination that went brilliantly. The crab was served on a bed of carrot and cabbage, making the dish have an odd duality of simple asethics and gourmet presentation. It could be cut with the side of a fork indicating just how tender it really is.
Soft shell crab is one of the most delicious finds that could ever be discovered; it is just a perfect way to prepare the ever-popular shellfish with none of the elbow grease from dealing with a hard shell. It is versitile.
To drink, I decided to have a Thai iced coffee without milk. Being used to the espresso kind of coffee this was a little unusual. My friend said it was almost like a Coke and I can see why. It was really sweetened and not overtly strong in the sense I am used to having.
It is quite refreshing once you get over the shock of how different Thai coffee is to Italian coffee - I quite enjoyed it.
This place is really good, fantastic even. The food is deliciously flavoured, it is non-pretentious and authentic. I can picture home-sick Thai students going here for their familar home fare.
Regardless though, it is hard to find Thai as good as this often and I much recommend that anyone in the neighbourhood - visiting or living - outght to try it out.
I get takeouts here all the time. It's always a lot of food for your money, and above all the food - at least everything I've tried - is delicious. Staff are friendly too :)
Cozy little place near Indooroopilly train station, the staff are friendly and the food is very good value for money. The meals are inexpensive for the decent portions. Just good Thai; would recommend but perhaps go on a cooler night as it can get a bit stuffy.
The staff were very friendly and polite. The appearance of the food wasn't the best but the taste definitely made up for it! I really enjoyed eating here. Overall it is a very well priced Thai restaurant and I would really recommend coming here!
Fresh, tasty, fast and value. No salubrious surroundigngs but good fresh food. Not every dish to our liking but it was what they siad it would be. We will be back
Pad Si-ew was nice. Not as much kick as a traditional Thai dish but it was still nice.
Cheap and cheerful. Absolutely love this place. Very good value for money.
Fantastic Thai. Had red chicken curry an coconut rice
Curry yummy!. Slipped in tonight for a quick curry. Service was efficient and friendly. Food was so good! Going back again.
We are regular customers of Thai Aroy and have never been disappointed! My favoirite is the drunken noodles with beef but the chicken cashew nut comes close. Staff are always friendly weather it's dine in or take away!
Tasty food more home cook style then a restaurant. Had the cashew chicken on rice was impressed at the taste. Tried the pad Thai as well not the best but certainly above par. 7/10
Fresh ingredients, but small things let it down like the spring rolls had no veges at all in them (even the vegetarian ones) and the Tom yum and Tom kha soups were extremely creamy. Otherwise, good value for your money.
Healthy, tasty and well priced. The service is good, the food is great and the price is even better!
two criticisms are dead flowers on the table and bad parking
Delicious food, cheap price, excellent service! 10/10 :)
Cosy, Cheap and Delicious Food. One of the cheapest thai places around Indooroopilly and a menu with a variety of delicious offerings. The place is clean and cosy, away from the hustle and bustle of the main street. Also most of the orders seem to be take aways, so the place is great for a quiet romantic date.
Awesome Food. We love Thai Aroy! Its our local Thai place that we frequent. Their pad se ew & pad thai are delicious -- anytime I go elsewhere, the pad se ew is just never the same/never as good as at Thai Aroy. The staff are friendly and are great for either take away or dine (we do both). And I think they still home deliver too...
Not a huge amount on the menu and not a "fine dining" environment but food is absolutely delicious and so cheap. would recommend tom yum goong, drunken noodles, sticky rice with mango and chicken cashews. if you're dining for 2 one main and one entree is usually enough for 2 to share, and works out at around $20 for the whole meal!
Good food, great price. Takeaway and delivery in local area. Chicken with cashews is amazing!!
I must have driven past this little restaurant hundreds of time but never really bothered to go in or take a look at their menu. My thai interests were previously loyal to another local. Sorry Bangkok Delight, you are now dumped, I have found someone better.
I don't usually like thai but went out on a limb when I saw it on ubereats and oh my God it was delicious. So glad I read the reviews and got the coconut rice. Definitely ordering from here more often
My favorite Thai restaurant in Brisbane. Although some meal is little bit different after the owner changed. The new owner offers the very good service.
Went here with friends on Sunday, food is nice especially coconut rice. And waiter is friendly and nice. I'll come next time
Chicken cashew nut and coconut rice was amazing. Other dishes okay. Nice and quiet around indooroopilly area.
Good Thai curries here. Food portion could be more.
Just like to update our review of this treasured restaurant. We dine here every week with friends and with our dog who is unconditionally welcomed. The food remains superb and the service likewise. The restaurant is a family affair with the mother, a fantastic Thai cook from Bangkok, who takes a personal interest in our group - offering new dishes at times for us to comment on.
This is a gem of a restaurant - great fresh food and friendly service. Have just returned from 6 weeks eating out in Europe and, for value and Thai taste, his restaurant wins hands down.
Very good food and great service. They went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcome, and the red curry was superb. Garlic-prawn fried rice was also excellent. Top notch! Aroy maak 🤤🕺👍
