How was my Special $3.5 Tuesday?. Got to say, was good & fine, fair enough. Neither excellent nor awful, but really good compared to the $3.5 price.
I quickly grabbed seared scallop & salmon on the train when I was there (my fav), then I tried salmon & avocado rolls (a slice of avocado on a slice of salmon sashimi on rice, almost forgot, drizzle of mayo) but didn't really like because of mayo, too much, too creamy to me that I could barely taste the naturally fresh creaminess of avocado & salmon. The last dish I got was grilled salmon rainbow rolls (grilled salmon although looked like seared salmon, wrapped 3/4 outer side of a roll with egg & crab stick & cucumber, if I'm correct), was a bit amazing, why a bit? It needed to be rolled a bit tighter, the end of sushi wasn't stick tightly so fillings were almost fallen out when I picked up with chopsticks and as I know, sushi supposed to be fit in a-bite, and that was absolutely more than a bite, so hard to enjoy full taste of it. For dessert, I ordered green tea mochi ice cream, to be honest, it was awesome to be, I had been dreaming of eating mochi ice cream for a time. They didn't disappoint me, mochi skin was fairly chewy enough while green tea ice cream, got to tell you, flavorful, you can taste and feel a bit of green tea powder still in there with amazing aroma, differently from Western ice cream, Japanese green tea ice cream isn't as creamy nor sweet, just a hint of sweet enough to make it ice cream with green tea taste & flavor & smell, not like Gelatino in CBD where green tea ice cream is sweeter and creamier and you may barely be able to taste the green tea powder, neither the taste, flavor nor smell. Oh, one more thing, there was raspberry sauce beside, about a teaspoon, I didn't think they are well corporate but anyway, sauce was quite ok, not really sweet so kinda like it.
** I paid around $14 for 4 plates, $3.5 each except black dishes (paid attention, people, small word line beneath the promotion poster or ask them the condition so you won't feel like you are tricked) and $3 for a green tea mochi ice cream. In total, $17.5, fast payment.
It was lunchtime, lots of people came, there were 2 waitress and an owner (I guess), they tried their best to serve customers as quickly as possible. Though sushi train, they did pay attention to each dish, variety dishes were on train and you can order any sushi from the menu if you don't see it on the train, still $3.5 except those are black dish $6.5 which are sashimi.
Gonna come back soon, 4 plates made me full, still want more but it was enough for a lunch, tasty & delicious
