Review Estia Cafe Restaurant - Inglewood

Just love this place... great food, service and ambience... we’re always made to feel so welcome when we go there... I was not a great lover of dolmades and never have been until I tasted theirs... Omgosh... they are delicious ... the crispy calamari is perfection as is all the dishes... great value and amazing portion sizes and reasonable prices...this place is a gem

Not really happy with this cafe-restaurant everything is literally drowning in oil including the pita bread.... poor quality of food, warm beer was served and soggy potatoes.... if you can't get right potatoes than something is very wrong !.Me and my partner ended up being very sick after having dinner. ..I have had visited this place previously once and as far as I remember it was a lot better more variety on the platters and now not even something simple as dollmades and that price of 52$ per person I think it's way too much for what is served and with no quality at all.

we had a great midweek dinner here. weekday specials are good value, tasty and sizeable. friendly service, cheap drinks, fun setting, really enjoyed it :)

We had a lovely impromptu evening here last night. It was pleasantly busy without being crazy and noisy. The owner and staff were so welcoming of all - families, couples, groups. Friendly and efficient service. It is always like this here at this long standing Inglewood Greek restaurant. If you are looking for an easy night this is your place! We had the simple souvlaki plates - beautiful fresh produce, perfectly seasoned and cooked.. All of food coming out the kitchen looked wonderful. It is difficult with the huge portions and great food on offer but try, try and leave room for their desserts - all are fabulous but you will be fighting with your table companions over those honey donuts. In a city with a whole lot of average Mediterranean style food, Estia is proof of how wonderful it can be. Thanks for a great night Sir and your lovely staff.

Beautiful authentic Greek food, the lamb is to die for! Very generous portion sizes, we shared the platter for two and brought home the left overs, it could have fed about 3-4 people easy. The owner was lovely and staff very efficient and friendly, we will definitely be returning in the future and recommending to our friends!

OMG the service is top notch and the chef comes out to check on you and make sure the food is good for you. They even help me wrap up my food and put in the fridge when i cant finish it so i can bring it home fresh. Great food, price is reasonable, very friendly and understanding waitresses and chef. Feels like family here! Seriously anyone in the area must try out this restaurant. They're greek coffee is very refreshing! Chicken burger is juicy and doesn't feel dry when you eat. Dessert is really delicious too!!

A lovely restaurant with very friendly staff and an open and comfortable setting. I went for a late lunch on a Friday and there was a great selection from both a main menu and a lunch specials menu. I had the vegetable stack which was great and I also saw the chicken burger which looked great too, both for a great price and with Greek authenticity. I would highly recommend.

Each time amazing food, and really friendly and helpful staff to navigate and select something we'd both love as we're unfamiliar with authentic Greek. I know it rarely pays off, but the Risotto was one of the best things I've tasted this year. My wife had meal choosers remorse after having a taste :D
Carol Kirby
Great staff and excellent food. They should've warned me not to eat too much of the starter plate - could hardly eat any more when the main sharing platter came! One of the best coffees I've ever had anywhere!!

Beautiful staff, amazing food, great friends and family for our group of 6. Have been twice now and definitely not disappointed......tried the Greek donuts....definitely a dish to share between 3-4 people they were really nice we will be back

Great location, great food and staff. The food was A1 and the staff were also very friendly! I’ll be back

Great food but the waitress was pushy in taking orders, interrupting people in mid conversation and at the end of the meal plates were taken before some of us had finished our dishes.

Have been going with my Partner for a number of years as I love my Greek food. On all occasions the food, service and the welcome has always been wonderful. For a lovely casual dining experience, I totally recommended Estia. Yia Mas!

I posted this on my page today: “Been a very long time since we went out for a Greek meal. Used to go the Mykonos near the Queens years ago. Tonight we went to the Estia in Beaufort Street. It was terrific. 5 of us and we ordered a few tasting plates of dips and olives, haloumi and feta and various other bits and pieces. It was all very very nice and definitely a place I would go back to soon. Most enjoyable ”

Went out on Anzac Day to celebrate my sisters birthday! The food was beautiful & staff very professional

Great restaurant! Being Greek I would recommend the music being a little louder to have the authenticity of a Greek restaurant, and more lemon/olive oil on the dishes!

Very happy with the food and the service was very good!! The owner comes to the table and actually cares about his customers. He treated my mum in law beautifully and we apreciate it. We will be back for sure!!!

Used to come here a lot. Classic owner who is very welcoming and dishes you decent food. Not sure it is worth what he charges but he seems to pack the place out fairly often so is doing something right.

Having previously had a great family meal here, I recommended Estia to a group of our friends. As a mixed family group with 6 under 10’s we settled in for what we hoped would be a repeat of our previous experience. Instead however within 5 minutes of ordereing we were horrified when the owner bellowed accross the restaurant for our children to shut up! Now our children were not sitting silently but they where by no means making an unacceptable amount of noise. Even if they had been, the polite and professional thing to do would be to mention it to the adults at the table and I’m sure we would gladly have controlled the situation. But to scream like a banshee across the restaurant was nothing short of disgraceful behaviour and cannot be justified under any circumstances. 3 of the children were under 5 girls and were terrified. Needless to say we left the restaurant immediately and will never return. Indeed we recommend That anyone with a family avoids this place at all costs.

It would pay the owner to take heed. people rarely share a good experience. But they will always share a bad experience and in this case the worst experience.

We, a party of 5 adults and 6 kids, just walked out of the restaurant extremely humiliated and very angry.
We got there, got seated and started ordering our food. The kids got a little noisy and someone seems to have complained. The owner then screamed out from across the floor - “This is not a playground. Quiet!!”.
He should have spoken to the adults if there was a problem, not yelled at the kids from the other end of the restaurant.
Stunned, we walked out.
Extremely rude and uncivil. If you are taking kids there, be forewarned.

Just been there, worst food ever. The Moussaka was a bowl of tasteless mush. Obviously microwaved and grilled on the top. Greek salad - 2 pieces of fetta and 1 olive. What a joke of a place, overpriced and self indulgent. Many better places to eat in Perth, with better price and food with flavour. Had to go to MacDonalds on the way home. Save ur money and go somewhere else. I was not the only one at the table with the same thoughts.

I have been trying to find a fun, family Greek restaurant since the demise of Mykonos, opposite the Queens, some years ago (Does anyone know if the owners popped up anywhere else?). Anyway, one of the marks of a well-run restaurant is how they respond to their own mistakes. In this case, they mucked up both our entree and two of the mains. Three of us decided to share an entree of squid; advertised as being served with crispy capers. What arrived was a plate of very nicely cooked squid, sans capers. We let it go. For mains, one of us ordered the veal rib-eye special and two went for the kebab platter. This was supposed to be one skewer of barbecued chicken and one of beef, along with Greek salad, pita and tzatziki. We hoped it would be up there with the aforementioned Mykonos' lamb platter. However, both serves turned up with just chicken, which was a let-down as it was the beef we were looking forward to. We decided not to let this one slide and asked the waitress what was going on. She listened politely and hurried off to the kitchen. Within moments, the owner arrived. A genial, loud man, he advised that the beef he had bought that day was no good and he refused to serve it (he later offered up the raw, vacuum-packed meat as evidence). He asked if we wanted anything else. I said that the platters themselves were great. Is there any red meat we could have on the platter? Minutes later he turned up with a full meal of lamb on the bone (massive), lemon potatoes and more Greek salad. It was delicious! Pleasantly, he still apologised when we came to pay and there was no charge for the extra meal. The decor is as you would expect - mediterranean and scruffy but comfortable. It is BYO and the service from both waitress and owner was pleasant. We will be back - possibly with a jar of capers!

Service was excellent.. friendly and efficient! Mez Platter is excellent and the Pork Belly is possibly the best I've had. It had almost no fat and was so tasty!
Ness
Popped in for dessert and coffee. Service was really slow. Dessert was nothing special and the 3 cappuccinos took forever and I mean forever (we had finished dessert and still waiting). When they arrived so hot that we couldn't drink them. Sorry but we won't be back.
Pig Chunks
We had a booking but still had to wait 20 mins. Pretty annoying but what ever. Food was average. Bit over priced. Honestly the worste part was the waitress stunk of b/o. Almost spewed when ever she came near me

Possibly the worst dining experience we have ever had.

A couple of years ago we had a terrible experience here whereby my husband chewed into something hard in one of the platters, broke his tooth, brought it to the attention of the owner who literally yelled at us and called us pests, and had subsequent expensive dental treatment to fix. The owner also accused my husband of having “weak teeth” which the dentist later confirmed not to be the case. Anyway, we swore off this place and planned to never return.

However, a couple of weeks ago I found myself at a friends birthday lunch here. I was interested to actually taste the food properly and see if my bad perception was just down to rude staff. This time, staff were fine(fortunately did not encounter the rude and aggressive owner), but I have to say the food was absolutely nothing to write home about. The food was salty, and the prices were quite high for what you got.

If you want delicious Greek food, try eat Greek in east Fremantle where you can have both all you can eat options and a la carte of higher quality for less money.
Wonderful family owned restaurant. The owner is vibrant and welcoming as soon walk in the door. The food is no nonsense traditional Greek fair, packing in lots of flavour with dishes that will suit most tastes. My personal favourite is the baked prawns with halumi and in house made flat bread. BYO for wine is an added bonus to the lovely good and atmosphere.

I have only three letters to describe this place O M G.
Food is jus scrumptious! Service by the wait staff is amazing! I had the dolmathes and the lamb moussaka wished i had more space in my tummy to have tried more food! Will be returning for sure!!

Overall excellent quality food but pricey

Starters

1) Had the platter PIATELLA which is essentially a greek version of antipasto. Excellent quality ingredients. The olives, artochoke were fresh as was the anchovies and octopus. The pita bread was nice however had too much oil. I would have preferred a bread that could absorb the flavours and the oil like you normally do with antipasto. The dolmathes were unfortunately were bland. Feta beetroot ad sausage also top quality.

Mains

2) The lamb cutlets were cooked right through whilst also tender -an excellent cut. Small serving for a main. Roast vegetable in my opinion were average. Broccoli and red jus really non show. Little side serving or harissa and what I think was a fancy mash potato was really tasty but quite small again

The SPANAKOPITA which is essentially filo pastry was way too oily and average. That is a bit expensive for $30. The moussaka was average as well really just like a vegetable lasgne with mince meat again a bit expensive for $30 odd. The chicken breast was good but not amazing a tad dry. The pumpkin and spinach accompaniment of risotto was good but not amazing.

Dessert:

Both desserts I found to be almost sickly sweet.Beautiful flavours but both LOUKOUMATHES and the filo pie were to sweet for my palette. Unusual. The ice cream made it that much better :)

The restaurant is on a busy road and it is a bit confusing if it is a restaurant or a cafe. A put off for some. But I don't mind.

Would I go back again? yes- but not out of my way

We went here for dinner during the week. Food was only average. At the end of the meal we were asked if we wanted desert or coffee which we advised no. Just the bill please. Then two glasses of euzo were brought out. We said we don't drink spirits and I was also driving so just the bill thanks. Nor did we order it. On our bill appeared an $18 charge for the euzo that we hadnt ordered. Disgusting!. We paid the full bill including the $18 and just left. Congrats on your $18 tip. We will never return and recommend all others do the same. Overcharging for items you dont even order is really disgusting service.

Came here Thursday night with a group of over 30. We weren't told until we got there that the group was too large and had to have set menu. At $50 a head it was a bit pricey. There was 2platters to 9 people. I said I had coeliacs- at first the owner was reluctant to accomodate my coeliacs and a friends allergies but was possibly just stressed as his attitude soon changed and was lovely and pleasant. Food was good but overpriced. Service was lovely in end. Pretty fuss free and uneventful. Let us all pay separately as well- extra points for this. Can byo but $6 per bottle.

We were a large group booking of 30+ people for a midweek dinner last night, and despite several conversations with the owner before the night, the person who made the booking was never told we had to have a set menu. So it was a rude shock to be told by the owner, once we were seated, that we all had to have the $50 set menu. There was plenty of food served on the "mezze" trays, and the quality for some items like the pita, dips, fried squid and chicken skewers were good, but other items like the pickled octopus, lamb and meat balls were poor. I prefer quality over quantity any day! I don't mind paying that sort of money for a set menu, but we were never offered dessert or a coffee! What sort of set menu is that! Complete rip off! The irony is that most of us would have spent around $50 ordering off the a la carte menu, if we had ordered 2 courses and a coffee, but as we felt cheated from the start, none of us bothered to order dessert or coffee at the end of the night! We didn't say anything, as we didn't want to spoil the night, being a farewell dinner for a work colleague. Next time, we'll take our business elsewhere!

Great Greek food at affordable prices. Staff are friendly and Vasse the owner is a typical Greek, warm, welcoming and friendly. We have been there over 40 times and keep going back as happy customers. Greek food is meant to be shared, Mezes in the middle, experience all the flavours.John & Sue

If you want terrible service, this is the place to go. Under staffed, rude boss just sits at the corner picking his nose. Absolutely disgusting food. Octopus was... yuck. The pasta was bland, the pork ribs... just avoid. Never again.

Went with a group of 13 for dinner, ambiance was nice food was nice all though a little pricey some of the portion sizes were a bit hit and miss some of the staff need a attitude adjustment one member was a little put out with having to serve us

Cannot fault this place. Dining here will remind you of Europe if you have been. Very warm & welcoming, the owner even gave us a lesson in speaking Greek! We ordered the mezze platter for 2. Starts you off with pita bread, dips, halloumi, feta, olives similar to an Italian antipasto which is then followed by lots of meat & seafood. Food was of very high standard, everything was well seasoned, cooked & presented perfectly and delicious and we left feeling nice & full. The traditional Greek music was the icing on the cake, all round amazing evening will be back very soon. Bravo Estia!

We came here as a last minute decision and I'm so glad we did! Being first timers we ordered a couple of tasting plates that were fantastic. Pork ribs, full of flavour, lovely and tender. The squid also, fresh and cooked beautifully. We also went with potatoes with a crumbled feta crust which were very nice too. Great service, full flavoured fresh food in a casual relaxed atmosphere - I just know we're going to be regulars trying to get through so many fantastic sounding menu items! Best of all we got a parking spot right out the front and you can't beat that 👍

Estia has that home made feel when you eat.Lots of flavours combined into one like for example honey and uzu glazed pork ribs are really nice.My favorite is grilled haloumi (Fig compote) with the crispy bread. The fig added a sweetness to the salty haloumi.
The best greek food I have ever had!
Baby munchkin,

Fabulous venue for a Christmas party with work friends. Food was superb and such generous servings. Staff were friendly and attentive and we all had a fantastic time. I loved the lamb!
Thank you for your hospitality Vassili

Average food, Very overpriced for the quality of food you get. Very rude owner. We had been once before and enjoyed ourselves however, after our most recent experience will definitely not be returning.

This was my third time to Estia as we had previously enjoyed the last two times and the food was fantastic. Unfortunately the service this time around was appauling - there was none. After waiting for ages and seeing other tables that were seated after us being attended to we needed to try and flag down a waitress to place our order which also took a long time as none looked in our direction. The food was fine but nothing as memorable as previous experiences. No one came ever came to take our plates after mains or offered us the dessert menu so we just got up to pay and left. Also they tried to charge us for a bottle of wine when my husband only had one glass and I'm 38 weeks pregnant.

Highly recommended Greek restaurant.

A very nice lunch before the Cup Final at Inglewood, really friendly owner which was the icing on the cake.

A little taste of Greek/Cypriot hospitality and the food was of a fantastic quality.

Definitely worth a visit

Best Greek in the world.
Live music & occasional plate smashing always creates a wonderful atmosphere.
This place is one thousand times better than the heavily marketed Brika restaurant. There is no comparison when it comes to value. Good value.
Proper Greek owner. Chef and staff are all Greek .. as it should be, you can tell.
My favourite is the various styles of Gyros & the wine list is affordably spectacular.

We went on a Friday night, it was rather busy and the waitress didn't seem to understand that we had booked so we chose a table, then realised there was a table with a reserved sign on it which must've been ours. We had brought some beers with us as Zomato states that the restaurant is BYO only and there is no bar available, this is not true, the waitress advised us that we were not able to drink our beers at the restaurant, you can bring wine only, they do now sell beer and wine. We weren't the only customers who had made this mistake, it's a shame their website doesn't work and we might have been able to figure this out. Anyway, we ordered drinks from the menu and after waiting around 15 minutes, decided we would order them again as they had clearly forgotten.

After a bit of a shaky start, we ordered the meze for two. The starters and the mains each come on a large serving dish and you just pick from it. The size was quite generous for the starter and everything was fantastic, particularly the grilled haloumi and fig compote. The mains arrived and the offerings were very generous, it is a lot of food! Again, everything was really tasty and you get to try a wide variety of meats etc. We had to pace ourselves and by the end of it we were far too stuffed for dessert. The only thing I would've liked is perhaps some lemon potatoes as I always enjoy these when in Greece, the meze platter came with wedges which are a little less 'restauranty' and didn't quite match the rest of the food.

The ambience was good but I think it could be given a bit more of an authentic Greek atmosphere. I could barely hear the Greek music that was playing but it was so busy and the background chatter was very loud. There was was one gentleman who I presume was Greek and he was very chatty and entertaining with the diners with his typical Greek charm as you normally encounter in Greek tavernas. Unfortunately the rest of the staff seemed a little cold but they were really busy.

We don't have a lot to choose from for Greek restaurants in Perth, this one is pretty good overall and is reasonably priced. But if you've been to Greece before, don't go expecting to get the same atmosphere you might have enjoyed over there. I would go again perhaps when it is less busy to see if the atmosphere is a little better and I'd leave my beers at home!

Hi all
Went here for dinner last night very average
We booked for 9 people they say us at a table for 8
Service was minimal
The food presented well but was a bit lacking in flavour...
We were enjoying a catch up dinner with friends that we hadn't seen in a long time and as you can imagine things got a little excitable but not out of hand or to the detriment of other dinner but the owner was not impressed...
I wouldn't rush back
Comment Mike
My wife loves this place .... but I've got the pen. Not for me at all. I get dragged there screaming probably 3 times a year. Don't go in Summer as air on is non existent. Food is not to my taste and I like the style but not the execution of it. Maybe it's just me but on this my wife and I disagree.
Vanessa
Great food and awesome service. Our great little local Greek restaurant with more than the typical menu. Lovely share plates with everything from seafood to slow cooked lamb, these plates definitely get us back for more! Plus the added advantage of byo. We go here regularly and this Sunday we tried it out for a late brekkie with our two fur babies. The owner even made up a little complimentary brekkie of egg, sausage and bacon for our dogs! Now that is service! Highly recommend!
Michelle
Most Greek restaurants are on the expensive side, but Estia seems more fairly priced. The food is good and the service is friendly. It's never empty, but also never too packed during the times I have been.
Truth Inc.
Your typical Greek restaurant from the dècor to the staff and the food is substantial and yummy :) with lots of other cuisines in close proximity it's always on my mind for last minute dinner

Authenticopolous. My second visit to Estia and I was as pleased as with the first. The salads were great and I found the mousakka really yummy. All the dishes at our table were enjoyed - the lamb dishes looked really tasty and were generous. Coffee's made greek style over hot coals, baklava was sublime. Had to have an ouzo - just because. Front of house staff were very pleasant and well managed. I'm actually a little surpised by some of the negative reviews I read - place is always packed on weekends with a convivial atmosphere - place must have turned around from last year. I just don't know what more you could ask for from a Greek restaurant.
Michael Schneider
Great food. Value. They always cook the fish perfectly. Management and staff always helpful and friendly. We keep going back.

Excellence. worth my time to write a review.. The service was excellent. I'm no expert on Greek food but the waiter was and he was really helpful and upbeat. The food was great and the serving was large. The venue is a bit old fashioned but that sort of adds to the character. As we were leaving they even offered to call us a cab if needed. We had the Meze plate for 2see photo good luck finishing it all. Good to excellent on all levels.

Scotty and I strolled along Beaufort St in Inglewood on a quiet Tuesday night, bottle of vino in hand from the excellent local De Vine wine store. We had no plan, and had decided we would settle for whatever appealed to us on the night. We reached Estia, and our search was over. We’ve been several times before and loved the food so we were confident we were in for a pleasant evening. Greek food is the name of the game at Estia, and its menu features dishes of calamari, octopus, roast lamb, moussaka and enormous mezze platters.

Service was very quick and friendly. Food tasted really good, fried squid, soft shell crab and octopus were standouts. The roast lamb was not to my liking, as it seemed to be boiled then roasted, but the lamb cutlets were cooked to perfection.

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!. This is the 2nd time I have been here & I have to say that the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. We ordered the Mezze Platters for two people (paying on a 'per person' basis) & I noticed that there was only 1 x chicken kebab & 1 x lamb kebab...I thought this seemed a bit odd given that there were two prawns, two fish etc (one per person) & thought that perhaps there had been an error....so I tried to flag a waitress down to ask how many kebabs normally came with the platter. The young waitress finally saw me at the same time as another table tried to flag her down so she notioned to us that she would come over shortly. However, after taking the order of the other table, she went out the back & was nowhere to be seen. So I headed over to the counter where there was another waitress standing. I asked the question regarding the kebabs & before she could answer, the old man overheard & angrily replied that the platter for two only contains one of each kebab. I replied that I had thought there were more than this in my last experience at the restaurant so that's why I had just wanted to double check. Well, this just made him even angrier. I thanked him & walked back to my table. Absolutely disgusting customer service. I had simply asked a question & deserved a diplomatic & reasonable response. We finished our meal & got out of there and do not plan on visiting again any time soon. the food was pretty good but we did find some of the meats a bit dry & the fish was overcooked. And I still can't quite comprehend why a platter designed for two ppl would only contain 1 x chicken kebab & 1 x lamb kebab...Two smaller servings of each kebab would make much more sense for a two person platter!!!!! Anyway....

Exceptional service, friendly and attentive. Food was very tasty!

Amazing food and very generous portions. The ribs are divine as well as the platters for a little bit of everything. Will be returning again very soon! Thanks for the full bellies and happy taste buds!

Amazing , cultural dining. We have been here a number of times now and feel confident to be able to rate. This is a lovely family restaurant where you see father in front of house and son in the back of house. Have tried the platters when with a bunch of family and what a wonderful food selection that covers all - vegetarian , meat and seafood. The Greeks certainly have a great way of dining. When just the hubby and I with an entree platter , he had a steak and I had the lovely veggies . Struggling to fit in the desserts they very kindly packed them to take away.. They are very knowledgable on the food and alcohol selections and a great time was had by all.

The WORST Greek restaurant ever. The food is disgusting. Quite simply, it looked and tasted like something out of a supermarket cann. Excessive use of salt and uncooked pita bread.

Very pricey for below average food.
Owner/waiter guy is nice enough but i don't thing he knows what real Greek food is. The tiny portions of meat were also uncooked. Terrible

You MUST AVOID this place, its an absolute waste of money.
Anastasia Lambetsos
Pricey but Nice. It's not the cheapest place for what you get, but it's the closest you would get to traditional Greek food in Perth unless you're blessed enough to know a Mediterranean Mama. I would only go back for special occasions.
LAS
Salt, salt and more salt. I know salt is used more heavily by chefs because it brings out the flavour. However, there is a limit. This is our second visit, we are desperate to find good Greek food in Perth. Our first visit we splashed out for the seafood platter...spent all night awake, with a raging thirst. Tried Estia for lunch, for a souvlaki plate. For $18, nicely presented, but two skewers, with three small pieces of either chicken or beef. The beef was chewy, and surprise, salty. It came with a pitta bread that had also been liberally dosed in salt. Haloumi (is also naturally salty) and yoghurt sauce. $18 I think is quite expensive. There won't be a third visit.

Estia restaurant. Greek quisine at its finest. My wife and I have frequented this restaurant many times and hav never been disappointed. We went for lunch on Wednesday only to find the place packed! No problem, they found us a corner and our lunch was as always beautiful!!! We have had breakfast, lunch and dinner at Estia and the quality has been excellent each time. Fully recommend this as a "next on your list" you won't be disappointed.

Consistently good. Most recently went here for lunch and had the most incredible salt and pepper squid salad. The batter was light, the salad was crunchy and delicious, with fennel and radish making it a little more interesting. The service is always friendly from the older gent (the owner?). While it's out of my budget to visit regularly, we've been to Estia several times for special occasions and it always delivers.

Let Down. We had a booking and were seated promptly. The waiter was attentive to start with and suggested a wine for me. However it was flat when it arrived. We ordered the meze platter. The first plate came out and we ate not much of it, we ordered the platter mainly for the meat plate which was the second part of the meal. Our waiter seemed to forget about us and a table across from us that ordered after we did received the meat platter before we did which was a bit annoying. He finally came over and we told him that we were finished with our first plate and he said he'd just leave it on the table til the next plate arrived.. Okay then..? The next plate finally arrived after a long wait. Sad to say it wasnt really worth the wait or the money. The lamb was nice, rather salty though and needed taziki to balance out the flavour but there wasnt any. There were 2 tiger prawns, some over cooked chicken skewers and over cooked fish fillets and chips. The waiter arrived a while later and took the plate away and I requested a dessert menu. He came back with one and then forgot about us again for about 20 mins. He went over to a nearby table and checked on them so we were surprised when he didnt come over to us considering we had our menus still in front of us. A waitress then noticed our bored expressions and came over to take our order. It took another 20 mins for our Loukoumades to come and they were a bit doughy and weird. Our forgetful waiter then came back to clear our plates and we asked for the bill. He forgot us again for another 20 and then finally brought it over. All in all a pretty crappy night for the amount of money we spent.

Disappointing.. Very disappointing. Ordinary food, average service and over priced.

We booked last minute for seven on a Saturday night. First visit to Estia and couldn't be happier. The owner was a friendly gentleman who looked after our table and made sure we had an enjoyable evening.
The food was fantastic. The calamari entree was one of the best I've ever had. Every meal that was ordered was commented on its deliciousness...

An old school friend took two of us for lunch today, and it was great! We chose a few starters to share - delicious and filling. Waited quite a while before ordering dessert - salted caramel slice with baklava ice cream, that came with a dainty little fruit salad.
That dessert was to die for! Just brilliant!!!
Service was pleasant, helpful and not rushed, so we all thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon of great food and great company!

Delicious. My sister and I have tried to dine here before but it's always busy on a weekend so Saturday night we decided to go with the takeaway option. The menu is varied and although it's a bit on the pricey side, we figured we'd take a chance as we usually favour Asian cuisine.

Ordered the chickpea and lentil balls, dolmathes, spaghetti thalassina and the mousaka and waited 15mins to pick it up. The total came to $90 so we had high hopes that the food would be as good as we were expecting.

All in all, delicious and we were not disappointed. The chickpea/lentil balls were served with an olive dip and yoghurt and the vine wrapped mince and rice which also contained pinenuts were all fresh and tasty. The spaghetti had lots of seafood mixed through and the mousaka was a good size serving. There was more than enough food for two and we also enjoyed a Greek salad which came with the mousaka.

The only let down would be the food wasn't piping hot due to being a takeaway order so we said we would definitely eat at Estia again however would make sure we booked early to dine in.

Looking forward to eating Greek again soon.

Decent. After going to Mez and Brikka in the same month it's hard to say which is better? (All were worth the visit and going back). The lamb here was exceptional (best of the three), Brikka was good & Mez was a little dry. Serves here are similar to Mez, Brikka is half the size for the same price but I prefer the look of the Cafe (Brikka), especially the lighting. Dips here are far better than Brikka. Mez has the best salad (Cypriot). Everything else is in par except I didn't like the seafood here but then again both Mez and Brikka's squid was undercooked to the point of being almost raw (Simple mistake as no one wants overcooked seafood). Would also be good to see Greek waiters here or better educate the current staff.

YUM!. Went to Estia on Thursday night for dinner and it was lovely! The food was full of flavour. I shared one of the platters with a friend which was $50 a head (well worth it), you get an entree with dips, bread, olvies cheese ect and then main is a platter of salad, prawns, squid, fish, lamb, chicken and beef scewers and potato wedges and it was divine! also, we did not have to wait long at all and staff were lovely.

Awesome food!. Nothing ever changes at Estia and that is a good thing as every time we go there for a meal the food is AWESOME and the service is AWESOME ...don't change a thing!!!

I've gone to Estia on a few occasions and must say I have never been disappointed. Massive platters of yummy food and the loukamathes are to die for! Service is always welcoming and friendly and they are happy to accommodate for dietary requirements. Would highly recommend for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

A 'pleasurable' evening for some. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal, but more so enjoyed the pleasant surprise of observing my local clergyman entering the property across the street.

Beautiful food and dining experience.. Came to Estia on a Sunday night with a party of three and were promptly seated and attended to. The waitress was very attentive and friendly which is always a bonus when dining out. We ordered the bread basket, mousaka, prawn saganaki (oh my lord, so flavoursome!), psari and the taste of aphrodite. The desserts looked wonderful but did not arouse our tastebuds like the main meals did, though overall a wonderful restaurant with a great ambiance which we will make sure to revisit.

Disappointing!. Estia has been an old favourite for a while, however, this is the second time that I have been disappointed to have been served reheated lamb, oily potato limonates and a forgettable salad. My slow roasted lamb was well cooked and coming off the bone, however it was cold and left an oily film all the way down my throat. I think the love has gone from this place and I am so disappointed!
Estia is missing the energy and passion it used to have. I want to support the local guy, but I also expect good, honest food.
Aussie Anth
Awesome. Love this place, been back about 7-8 times.
Wife always gets the moussaka and I try to mix it up. Always a pleasant experience.

Royal Seal of Approval. The best Greek restaurant in Perth.

Great experience with great food. We walk in and the staff are extremely friendly. The vibe of the restaurant is lively and the service is fast and efficient. the food was also brilliant and fresh. great greek experience
Regular Diner
Great Traditional Greek Fare. I have always liked Greek and Turkish food and people so when I drove past Estia I had to stop. On a Friday night with no reservation I figured there could be a minor problem but the opposite was the case. The owner greeted the three of us and made us feel completely at ease. This was further reinforced by the young waiting staff who were exceptionally helpful. Our entire meal consisted of starters. We had soft shell crabs, Greek sausages, a trio of dips, Mediterranean vegetables and lamb cutlets. Every dish was excellent with the soft shell crab being outstanding. The price was quite reasonable, by Perth standards, and we could not have eaten more.

This was Greek food par excellence and I would highly recommend it to anyone that likes Mediterranean food.
Dylan
Good food and plenty of it.Four of us got the mezze platters to share. The best dips I have had and the lamb on the main platter melted in your mouth.
Would definately go back.
Laurel
Dislike! My partner and I ordered the share platters and the food was very average, the meat was dry and lacked flavour. Definitely not good value for money for $50pp when I compare it to other restaurants at a similar price. Only positive is the customer service, all staff were very friendly.

First time visiting last night and was very impressed. The fantastic service started when I left a message on the machine earlier in the week and received a timely and encouraging return call confirming the booking.

Table service was faultless and friendly. The food was delicious! We had a few different dishes between us and all were thoroughly enjoyed and well presented. The homemade ice cream was a particular hit.

The small touches, such as a cold bowl for the ice cream and the personal goodbye, including remembering my name, were icing on the cake.

Definitely recommend it and we'll be returning!

Modern Mediterranean - loved it!. I ate lunch at Estia twice last week - in the area for work. What a fabuolous surprise. I would not prevously have rated myself as a big Greek food fan - but I am totally sold and will be definately back again with my husband and friends. The place is light and airy, the servings were very generous but notover the top. Great menu with lots of choice. Day 1 I had the souvlaki plate which was absolutely divine, and day 2 the squid salad. Perfectly seasoned squid filets on a bed of shredded greens with a light, tangy Greek dressing ... YUMMO! The service was friendly, selection of wines looked good too although I didn't get to try ... YET! We live up in the northern suburbs but will definitely make the drive to Estia for a long Sunday lunch soon.
Marcel
Really liked it!! Went to Estia on a Wednesday night with my family and had a fantastic meal. The host, Vassi is a class act and the head chef, Paul, loaded up our platter with delicious meats and fish. Can't wait to go again!!

Nice. I have been wanting to try this place for a long time. Took my family and mother and brother for a birthday. We liked it!.. The food was good, the service was good, and it actually reminded me of going to smallish European restaraunts as a kid with the family where the owner was present and able to give menu suggestions. Pleased to have a bit of old school food and service in Perth.
Alexandros
Nothing discernibly Greek, bland flavours including taramasalata that has much more to do with puréed potato than fish roe - also terrible value -- platter for two offered 2 small prawns one very small skewer of chicken and one of lamb and two tiny Cypriot sausage-cum rissoles -- flavourless food, chewy lamb and this food in general would not be received well anywhere in Greece/ Cyprus -- Perth is dying for a good Greek restaurant.

Dined here last Sat for about the fourth time. Food was very tasty and fresh. The owner is always very friendly as were our waitstaff. We will be back for sure

We visited here this evening for a group dinner. The young guy who was our waiter was amazing, informative, helpful and friendly.

I would have recommended this place until the owner had a go at his young waiter in front of his customers. We were totally shockes as this waiter had gone above and beyond for us throughout the evening.
It was ashame as the waiter made a simple mistake and not only did the owner yell at his staff but also us as customers!

Food was great but I would never go back due to the way he treated us and his staff!

Choka Blocka. My Fiance' & I booked into Estia for a Friday night end of working week dinner and WOW...what a bonza decision that was. We started off by walking in the door and we were greeted with the most authentic , huge punsa greek sized owner that had a sile on his face bigger than Guy smiley from Sesame Street! He even brushed me aside to pull out the chair for my fiance as she was being seated...I nearly breaka hisa necka!! We both started with a shared platter entree..it was delish! Follwed by the Pork Belly...which mind you as as big as the owners :)..and the Greek style spaghetti marinara (forgot the authentic name..sorry) Both were superb!!! get those greek style doughnuts too,,,they are the ducks nuts...not literally , only as a figure of speech. This is the very first time we have been here and we were not disappointed by far! Estia is by far a place to pig out and before you know it..you roll out of there looking like you own the place too. Saboo & Tinker will be back for amore'.

Favourite local. I've been eating here for a couple of years now and have yet to have a bad meal. Meals are consistently of a high quality and they cater for gluten free diets as well.
Staff are friendly and attentive and the owner always has time for a few friendly words.
It's pretty kid friendly as well.

I'm a big fan of the Baked Psari on the breakfast menu. It's a great choice for something a different for breakfast.
The Meze platter is the way to go for a large group at dinner but beware the size. This is a gigantic serving of meats of all kinds and 3 portions will normally do 4 of us. If you plan on getting an entree then plan on rolling out the door. It's too good to leave, particularly the lamb on bone which is so tender it comes apart at a gentle prod.

We enjoyed the fresh and tasty food but we really disliked the unwelcoming reception and continued 'attitude' of one of the waitstaff. Will go back but will hope to be served by one of the other friendlier members of the staff.
Sookie And Boohoo
Bad service and worse food. We booked a table for 9 for an early dinner on Saturday based on very high Urbanspoon rating of 88%. We phoned to ask if it was byo and were told that it was fully liscensed. It is BYO. Deliberate? To kick off we ordered a round of Ouzo and we're served vodka by mistake. Oh dear! The night got worse. Very pleasant staff doing all they can to avoid eye contact. You have to call them over. Amazing Perth service here! The food is worse than the service. Overpriced and a mish mash. Not authentic Greek food. Horrible.

Every time we come here it just keeps getting better! The food, the service and the general feel of the restaurant. We had the meze platter tonight and it was so delicious and generous! The prawns need a mention as well, superb! Service was really great and so nice at the end to be thanked and addressed by name by the owner!

Love it! Having eaten at most of the top Greek restaurants in Melbourne we can't wait to explore the rest of the Estia menu.
Kat
Amazing. The mezze plate was one of the most glorious things I have encountered in recent times. Very generous portion sizes too.

Had dinner with 4 others on Saturday night, we ordered the Mezze platter for 5, which was awesome! It consists if 2 courses, dips, olives, octopus etc followed by the biggest platter of prawns, sausage, lamb, fish, kebabs & chips I've ever seen for one table! The flavours were amazing, my only criticism was that the lamb was a little dry. We were completely stuffed afterwards! The ambiance was noisy and very cheerful, highly recommend for celebrating groups of 4 or more, will definitely return :-)

Absolutely delicious !!! Lovely service and well priced ! Such a great family restaurant, definitely worth a visit !

Amazing as always. Time and time again this restaurant is amazing from the great, friendly service to the mouth watering food. We keep returning to Estia as we cannot get enough of the food and find ourselves constantly comparing other restaurant to it. Great portion sizes with delicious flavours. The chicken Kotopoulo, barramundi and Mezze platter being our favourites although we do miss the Salmon with beetroot risotto since the menu changed.

One of my faves!. I absolutely love this place!!

Been a few times now, and I am impressed every time! The desserts are to die for, we had one called "Aphrodite", it was 3 desserts on one plate and all were so unique and so delicious!

Today I had the best veal of my life there- cooked in a sweet ouzo sauce, it was awesome! They also make a special, traditional Greek coffee, which is slowly heated in really, really hot sand! It's so yummy!

The owner is always there and is so friendly and accommodating.

Love, Love, Love Estia!

Best greek in Perth. Great service, huge portions, reasonable price and tasty food. Can't really fault Estia Cafe.
Rebecca
Just not my cup of tea. Estia has great service and a good atmosphere but I don't love the food. I am a huge fan of Greek food and love the family owned vibe of this restaurant but after dinning here twice I am still luke warm on the food. The first time dinning here our party of 3 shared the mezze plates which we were all underwhelmed about, mass produced and greasy masses of squid, chips, lamb, veg etc. Our second dinning experience we thought we would try the la carte menu as all our friends raved about this restaurant and we wanted to give it another chance. The simple entrée of pita bread and dips with fetta and olives was very nice. The Pork Belly was lovely but I hated the greasy strange tasting potato and sauce it was served upon. The Moussaka was on the cold side and bland, the Prawn Saganaki was generous but lacking...something. The desserts were nice but not amazing, the highlight being the Coffee Crème Brule. 3 out of 4 of our party were not overly impressed. I know this restaurant is very popular but I'm afraid I find it just above average in relation to the food and value.

-----29 Jun, 2013-----

Will give it a second chance. You are made to feel very welcome when you enter Estia by the owner and his staff. The atmosphere is open, busy, informal, friendly and loud, I generally perfer more intimate dinning spaces but I enjoyed the vibe. Numerous friends had raved about the food so I was sadly disappointmented by the main mezze plate, it seemed a little too mass produced (chips, deep fried squid, underwhelming lamb) rather than authentic Greek food. I will be back again and this time order from the main menu as surely there is more to be tried as we are the only one of our friends who didn't love the food.

Great service. Great food! Meze platter was amazing and heaps of food! Donuts for dessert were AMAZING! Crunchy and not doughy at all!

Solid.. Went in a group of 4 and we shared the Mezze platter... plentiful, well prepared and great variety of traditional Greek / Cypriot fare. Would recommend it.
Candi The Cacker
Dinner here on Friday night was a rather noisy affair. However, the service was efficient and friendly, entrees were divine, mains were delicious. Dessert was less than ordinary. Would come back here, but wouldn't bother with dessert. Good value and large serves.

This place is awesome! I have been here three times now and the food is always amazing and good portion sizes. Soft shell crab is the best I've had. Staff were very accommodating to gluten free requests from one of our group. Great atmosphere and staff are very friendly. Will definitely keep coming back!

Excellent!! Was there Friday night!! Buzzing atmosphere with great food :) owner very kind and entertaining, lovely atmosphere!! Certainly recommend it and will be heading back

My husband and I headed out to dinner on Good Friday to realize that most of our usuals were closed. we stumbled across Estia and it was amazing!! We had the moussaka & stuffed chicken with risotto. Both were so tasty and great sizes (was so full!). We then shared the donuts in honey and rose water syrup with pistachios & ice-cream. It was so delicious!! The staff are so friendly and attentive. We will be back, after we work that meal off at the gym :)

Visited this restaurant last weekend, serving sizes are sufficient but food average.

I didn't really enjoy the Mezze platter, and the mains were so-so. For the amount you are paying it isn't worth it. I highly recommend the nepalese restaurant next door instead.
Ebeenie
Yum!. Had the generous Mezze Platter for two between three of us (with some extra pita bread), which was delicious and very filling.
We would roll out of there again any time.

Sunday evening dinner. Delicious Greek food very reasonably priced. Huge servings. Lovely service from a very cheery host. We left full and were made to feel like VIPs. BYO is a huge bonus. Great place..... Would happily recommend.

The entree Calamari is the best....

Friendly atmosphere, all waiters are efficient and presentable.
Menu was short and sweet but that's how they should be.
Water on arrival and clean cutlery after each meal! Positive for a Perth restaurant!!

Tasted three different starters all of which where full of flavour, the seafood was perfectly cooked. Fresh vibrate flavours!
Mains - moussaka tasted very good, had depth on your palate, traditional style flavour and the salad was fresh.

I highly recommend eating here.

Nice local. Living close by, we decided to check this out on a Friday night. We made a late-seating booking (8:30pm) and decided just to go with the Meze platter as we were starving and couldn't make up our minds. The food is definitely value for money - in fact my partner and I couldn't even finish the 'mains' platter!! I particularly loved the grilled fish. The only fault was that the 'entree' platter came out extremely fast and was ice cold as if it had been sitting in the fridge - the salad leaves were limp and dehydrated, the olives tasteless (because of their temperature) and I didn't really like the cold octopus... however I would definitely come back again so all good.
