Review Finlay & Sons - Inglewood

Hieu Huynh
Really chilled cafe. Got some takeaway from here and was super impressed by the food and service. You order at a doorway for takeaway orders. I ordered the bacon and egg ro with hash brown. Both were amazing. The egg yolk was still runny and ran everywhere! The hash browns are quite unique here. You'll need to try them to see what I mean.

Went there for a quick take away snack, easy parking, love the outside seating area. Great service and coffee are great, not too mention the avocado toast. I would give it 5 stars if the staff did not stuff my mate mocha order.

We had brunch at Finlay & Sons recently. Even though the restaurant looked busy when we first arrived, we were able to be seated at a table inside. The service was quick and efficient, which surprised us considering the amount of customers. The food & drinks came out quickly after ordering and was hot, delicious and tasty. We will come back for the amazing hash browns and banana blueberry bread - thank you and our regards to the chefs.

Super friendly and welcoming staff. Plenty of seating inside and outside. The bacon and egg roll is super tasty, yummo!, and the coffee was great as well. A dog friendly cafe with water bowls located out front.

The food was absolutely amazing! We ordered the corn and potatoe cakes and an avo smash. I cannot rave enough about it. The only downfall would be the friendliness of the staff. They weren't the friendliest and it showed when they came to take the order etc.
Mladen Mrvelj
I absolutely love my local and its friendly staff. The coffee is always great and the smashed avo is the best I've ever had (and I continue having). Lots of options are available for those with dietary requirements, as well as colouring books for kids, water bowls for dogs etc. A separate takeaway window makes it really convenient when on the go, too.

Amazing eggs Benny on fresh hash browns the hash browns are delicious and crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside combine that with two perfectly poached eggs with hollandaise sauce and your onto a winner, but then add the beautifully seasoned spinach with a delightful tang that leaves your mouth watering for the next bite. washed down with great coffee that has a gentle aftertaste of the beans was very grateful that we booked a table online as this place is absolutely pumping, it has a great fresh vibe with everyone enjoying great food and great service.

I went to Finlay & Sons for few times now and I absolutely love this place. Terrace is nice and offers some shade or sun depends your mood and the weather. Coffee is good and food excellent! I had a Goodness bowl the first time and Oh my Goodness it was delicious then this morning I gave a try to the smashed avocado and I wasn’t disappointed! It’s plenty of avo and goat cheese, and other good stuff. I was full :) if you have the opportunity to meet the owner you will have a lovely chat with him as he is carrying a lot about his clients, staff and shop. Staff is multicultural, polite and friendly too :)

I've visited this place for lunch, breakfast and take away coffee and it's quickly becoming my favourite dine in place. The fit out is incredible and every detail clearly thought out. From the beautifully crafted spacious warm wood tables and chairs, to the great big monstera inside, the Robert Gordon water jugs, Japanese tea pots, pretty and big ceramic cups and saucers and French glassware really gives an authentic feel to the place, then you get the delicious food! Generous sizes, interesting and tasty. The burger is the best I've had and the salad was just so fulfilling. Amazing coffee and the staff are all attentive and carry warm smiles and offer you a blanket if you are sitting outside. If you're lucky there may even be some ripe strawberries for you. This place ticks all the boxes! So refreshing to find something this cool down the other end of Beaufort st. Thanks!

Happy to recommend very best gluten free place to eat...Food always soo delicious, great coffee, friendly staff and table service!

Went for breakfast yesterday for the first time! Inside was way too crowded so we sat outside once our table was cleaned! Ordered coffee which arrived luke warm in a small cup! Ordered poached eggs, chorizo & bacon! The bacon was cut thick (says on the menu) but was all fat!!! The chorizo was not nice! The only good thing on the plate were the poached eggs! The top of pepper mill was not on properly and my husband ended up with a plate of peppercorns! Wasn't feeling too good for the rest of the day! Overpriced $52 for a not nice breakfast & Luke warm coffee! Thank god I had a voucher! Won't be back or recommending!

Probably one of, if not THE best breakfast out I have ever had. Everything was incredible. Highly recommend
Donna Lea Joncevski
Always love it here, the staff are lovely and friendly and the food is amazing. There’s always something unusual to try for breakfast and the atmosphere is fabulous too. We will definitely be returning time and time again! Ps the coffee is sooo good too 😀

Fantastic breakfast! Wonderful staff and excellent meal options. My breakfast of soft boiled eggs with truffle oil was divine. My partner says his avocado smash was the best he's ever had. Will def return!
Chris Clements-Shepherd
Love this local spot for breakfast and lunch! Food is always excellent and the team is so friendly and helpful. So lucky to have such a great venue in Inglewood.
Melanie Hannah
We had a wonderful breakfast with great coffee. To top it off the service was great and friendly. A place that cares about its customers. We will be back!
Mir Faris Mahmood
Everything was very scrumptious and delicious but the French toast was to die for! I recommend it to everyone out there!
Natalie Sherie
Always excellent service no matter how busy they are, the menu options are really varied and the best coffee in town!
Jenny Hitch
Best brekkie we’ve had in years! Great food, coffee and staff were super efficient and friendly

My partner and I frequent here! The food, and beverages are absolutely delicious and the staff are just beautiful. We love this place, it's a local gem. With huge thanks to all the amazing people who make this place what it is <3 :)

Went there for breakfast. Scrambled eggs were very oily. Coffee bitter. Went to pay with a pram, made it almost to the counter to be told prams aren't allowed inside to pay outside. Then had to wait to be served again. Certainly not rushing back.
Bryce Steele
What a great spot, always busy, but always so welcoming! Food is great and service is A class!
Gaëlle Houdy
I regularly go to F&S and they are so consistent. The service is always great and prompt. The food is always fantastic. Coffee and other beverages are as good. I'm not one to always go back to the same place but I do there. Great outside area and dog friendly.

First visit yesterday. Myself and a friend both Coeliac were very well looked after. Food was delicious, great coffee and service was top notch. What a great find :)
Richard Thomson
Great atmosphere ... great food .... turmeric latte a winner ... topped off with staff that actually enjoy their work. Finlay & Sons ticks all the boxes.
Hamish Forrest
Great food and vibe. Food came out promptly. <br/>Really let down that the owner abruptly cleared the table and told us we had to leave as he had someone waiting. <br/>We were waiting for coffees so cancelled then paid and left. <br/>Won’t be going back.
The Chefs Wife
We all know the city end of Beaufort Street gets a lot of attention, but I keep finding myself drawn to the quieter, leafy Inglewood end of the foodie street. It’s a good excuse to pop into the brilliant Black Pig Deli, and there are excellent cafes in this neck of the woods too. One such spot is Finlay and Sons!
Hannah Brockway
I heard such good things about Finlay, but my omelette this morning was very disappointing. The eggs were dry and tasteless. Is an omelette that hard?
Tayla Jayne
Went here for breakfast, it was extremely busy. We were seated quickly. I had the scrambled eggs and I found them too be undercooked in some parts. My partner had the hashbrown Benny. The hashbrown was so thick and it made the meal unpleasant, the eggs looked great though.
Kezia
We were searching great brunch place on Zomato, and this place came up. Very recommended! We ordered sausages with salads, juice and matcha latte. They are all very delicious!
Joss Monnock
I believe F & S has Perth’s best hash browns!! The omelet was also very delish. A bit too much celery in the beetroot juice so that’s why I could give 5 stars... I hate celery 🤣<br/>Fabulous service to boot!!!
Frosty29
Great service and lovely staff! Happy and friendly atmosphere but not much variety in food and a bit too fancy and overpriced for where and what it is.
Courtney
Our favourite local go to! Great service - super helpful and accomodating with having a pram, beautiful food consistently, my fav place to go for a coffee 😍
MissFoodie
The food here is average and tastes okay. I've tried quite a few selections from the menu such as their chicken salad, scrambled eggs on toast, chicken burger, homemade cereal, etc. The chicken salad was alright, the chicken itself was good but I didn't like the haloumi salad so much. Avocado on toast; good. Scrambled eggs on toast; nice. Chicken burger was okay. The worst dish was the homemade cereal as it was overly sweet which made the dish barely edible. Their juices and smoothie are amazing though, especially the banana smoothie!
Jess
Always my favourite place for a weekend breakfast and coffee. Love the range of vegetarian options on the menu. The eggs are always cooked perfectly and I'm always so full when I leave. I've never had bad service and I've even had a chat with the owner about their secret on how they perfectly cook their mushrooms!
Tanya Evans
Lovely service! The owner/manager came over for a chat when we were pondering what to order, which is so rare and such a great idea to make customers feel valued. Food was amazing! I had the smashed avo with a poached egg. I have never had an egg so perfectly done. There was chilli jam added to the avo smash and I was dubious at first but it was so delicious! Gave it a tiny bit of zing which was offset by the cheese. My partner had the chicken burger which came with some delicious hand cut fries. The chicken was super crispy and the chilli mayo gave it a little kick. Perfection. We can’t wait to come back.
Monique Pauchnik
Got th iced coffee which ended up being quite weak and bland. The food, however, was lovely. The eggs were cooked to perfection, wonderful choice of bread accompanied with plenty of butter. Chorizo that I tried from a friend’s meal was wonderfully cooked and the hashbrowns were great. My one complaint was that the bacon was more like a cut of roast and tastes like a bush fire. Staff were amazing, all very friendly girls. Great atmosphere, loved it.

Came here on a busy Saturday morning , drinks and food came out quickly. I had the zucchini fritters which were very delicious , although the fritters were small and served with some leafy salad so it wasn’t very filling . My partner really liked the chicken burger, said it was one of the best he’s ever had. The chocolate brownie was amazing , that strawberry frosting on top went so well with the brownie. I wanted to try the turmeric latte as I’ve never had one before , it was quite yummy 👍🏾 customer service was amazing , I talked to a few of the girls who worked there and the service was great
Spoonful Of Em
This place did not disappoint and I could not fault a thing. I was promptly seated in a spacious dining area, but there are also numerous tables available outside. Table service is a rarity at morning brunch spots these days so that was a big tick. The waitresses were on the ball and so was the kitchen. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast at standard prices. Will definitely recommend this location to friends and family.
Frankie
Very nice coffee. Great place for breakfast. We got there at 12 and I had the sausage burger and my partner had the chicken tikka burger. Was delicious and the chicken burger was massive. Very friendly staff 👌
Kerryn
I could not fault this place today. Tea pots are a decent size and I had the chicken salad which was delicious. Generous portion, great flavours & something I couldn’t create at home. <br/><br/>Plenty of parking near by but this place does get busy which can make it hard to get a table.
Mmmmmmarsha
Hard to select what i wanted to eat as the cafe has a great selection of food. <br/>We choose the smashed avo, mushroom omelette and the muslie.<br/>Staff were very friendly.<br/>Can't wait to go back and try more food.
Tanya Davis
Staff were friendly and incredible. They all worked like a well oiled machine during the busy breakfast time. Food was incredible. Absolutely loved my omelette!

Hands down my new favourite breakfast joint. The coffee was amazing, especially for almond milk drinkers like myself - Their milk is made in house and it's actually so good. My friend and I shared three dishes and they were all phenomenal! The food is so fresh and you can tell it's made with love. Speaking to the manager, the menu changes often, which is a good thing. They use the thick cut bacon which is such a nice change from normal rasher bacon! The service was really good and the owner is so nice and was talking to his customers...Good to see that kinda thing in hospitality. I will be back many many times

Came here for breakfast with friends on the weekend. Had high hopes but was sadly disappointed. The coffee was fairly standard but nothing to write home about. All the meals had to be added to, if you wanted eggs you had to order toast as a side and bacon etc so it becomes quite expensive. My breakfast came out once I started eating noticed it had a hair in it. I called the waitress over who said nothing just took my breakfast away. My friends by this point all had their meals and where half way to nearly finished as I sat waiting. Only for another meal to be placed in front of me. I did say that I didn't want it as my friends had finished eating and the mere fact that I wasn't even asked if I wanted another meal which I didn't. I found the whole scenario quite lack lustre from start to finish.

Finlay & Sons would have to be one of my all-time favourite local cafes! Everything on the menu is delicious and there are so many gluten-free options!. This isn’t just a review of one visit to Finlay – I have been multiple times and tried many dishes. I apologise in advance if anything below is no longer available when you visit as they tend to modify their menu quite regularly; but this is another thing I love about the place – you’re guaranteed to be able to try something new every time you visit!

Great little local place. Love the fit out and decor. Muffins are always awesome, coffee can be fantastic but it depending on which barista is on.
Ryan.perreau
Really great variety of food choice, have tried most items and enjoyed them all. Great customer service. Prices are pretty steep and coffee isn't the best. Atmosphere is great and I always enjoy my experience so I'll keep coming back

This morning was our first visit at Findlay and Sons and it certainly won't be our last. Arrived here at 7.30 when it was nice and quiet. The food was delightful - we had no criticisms at all. I just want to add that their gluten free toast (which is homemade) was absolutely scrumptious, best I've ever eaten. Everything about our breakfast was perfect and the waitress friendly and helpful. We are looking forward to our next visit - it's not easy to find a place that really does such a good job all round. The only reason I don't give a rating of 5 is that it is our first visit - just in case it is just pot luck that it was so good.

Awesome with a capital A!<br/>Had brunch here last week- had heard it was a nice spot. It has such a clean, comfy and chilled out vibe. Fun decor- and the type of place you can sit down and sip coffee for ages.<br/>The food. delicious; had such a good variety for their brekky menu- the chefs clearly know what they are doing...and their coffee is oh so satisfying!<br/>Highly recommend the zucchini fritters, were delish!<br/>Will be returning for sure
KAlTa
Service was excellent but the most disappointing food. Worst French toast I have ever tasted. Portions were small hence the cheaper prices. Bacon was overrated. Thick but overcooked and nothing special.<br/><br/>Other than that, the service and ambience was excellent. But sadly I will not go back for the food.
Jonnie Bee
Table service with attentive, friendly and super quick service! I had the maple bacon with beans, perfectly poached eggs and pork crackle - pretty good especially if wanting gluten free! <br/>Not bad coffee either - cheers
Rosie Baker
The interior is super classy yet comforting and feels like home. The incredible staff somehow remember my name even if its been a while. And the coffee is delicious 😍 lunch is my favourite!
Caitlin Taneal Capes
Awesome little cafe. I had the zucchini fritters which are amazing!! The fried chickpeas was probably my favourite part of the dish, they are surprisingly juicy and full of flavour. Would definitely recommend as your weekend brunch spot.
Carl
Popped in here on a Saturday afternoon. Didn't realised they closed so early but they still accommodated us. I had their chicken burger. The buttermilk crumbed chicken was tender and flavoursome, but the outstanding aspect of this meal was the Asian inspired coleslaw with ginger and coriander.  Simply delicious - my mouth is watering as I write this up.  Definitely worth a visit.
Poohbear
Decided to try for the first time. So glad we did! The food was amazing. The zucchini fritters with pumpkin hummus were so good. The best part was the crispy chickpeas sprinkled over the top. The chorizo omelette was awesome with the best chorizo we have had in a long time! The atmosphere was so cool and relaxed even if it was a bit noisy inside. We will definitely be back!
HollyDolly
Don't get the fuss about this place<br/>Coffee is nice but about 2 mouthfuls in a serving size. Food is expensive and boring. <br/>Says it's kid friendly but small amount books/toys are right in the middle of a busy walkway

It was the 12th of November, an awesome day which we started heading down South for three days camping. This time, we decided to be a way more relaxing! So, yes! You are going to see more food pictures and reviews in these coming days. Finlay & Sons is always a lovely one for starting off a beautiful day like today. They never disappointed us whenever we paid a visit. This time, classic dishes were still staying on the menu but with more new dishes came in sight.

First visit for breakfast this morning. Had the avocado with goats curd, really enjoyed it and good size portion for price. Only issue was the price of sides, $6 for one piece of bacon, very yummy but not worth $6!<br/>Great coffee and atmosphere, lovely spot for brunch with friends
JM
Almost fancy, Almost Hipster, Almost passable<br/><br/><br/>A bit disappointed to be honest:(<br/><br/>Had the zatar burger, pot of tea and carrot cake.<br/><br/>WALNUTS in carrot cake were black!!<br/><br/>Why?? <br/><br/>Disgusting <br/><br/>Carrot cake was small, dry, not refrigerated and had warm sugary icing from the hot day. Terrible for $7.5<br/><br/>Tea was bitter, not fresh. Tasted like it had been brewed too long. But pot and cups were pretty. <br/><br/>Water had coffee grounds in it. No apology from staff. What the hell! <br/><br/>Zatar burger patti was beautiful. <br/><br/>like a cross between kfc and indian patti. Crispy on the outside and moist inside<br/>A hint of spices and pickled veg to cut through the meat. <br/>Delicious <br/><br/>The bun was a let down. Too sweet and processed. Fried/ toasted bun was to oily and also too small. <br/><br/>The chips were too oily and average. cut too big. Only 5 chips.<br/><br/>Serving size was small especially for price.<br/><br/>Funky plates and different menu trying to be hipster. But failed..<br/><br/>Cmon we expect better for a restaurant of this class and price. <br/><br/>However overall service was great.
More Than Nourishment
The menu had a couple of interesting sweet dishes that I was keen to try but given it was lunch, I went for a savoury dish instead. I asked for the staff's recommendation which was the egg and bacon brioche charcoal burger with tomato chutney on the side ($15.50). I decided to go with his suggestion along with a turmeric latte ($6). The latte wasn't very hot and average.. I've had better. I was VERY disappointed with the burger. It was TINY (slightly larger than a slider) and left hungry (and I don't eat very large portions). For the price, it was a total rip off!! What made it worse was the super thick bacon which meant I couldn't even bite through it, resorting to using a knife and fork.. I really don't like having to use cutlery for burgers. Will not be returning!
Girlcaneat!
Beautiful breakfast spot. We will definitely come back here and wish we lived closer, I prefer this breakfast spot to many overrated spots around the city.. great coffee, cute little tables outside, great staff, but most importantly great food! Small menu but great quality 😊
Renato
Nice cafe on a picturesque corner, despite the traffic of Beaufort St. Very good coffee and food served with a smile. Looking forward to another meal.

My second visit to this local cafe and it didn't disappoint. The service is prompt, helpful and polite. The food offering is interesting and the dishes are fresh and tasty. And most importantly, the coffee is good! I'll definitely be back to try more dishes.
Richard
Had a lovely brunch. Fresh and delicious food, good variety on the menu and nice vibe. Always popular and a great local place. Will definitely come again

Hubby and I dropped in spontaneously this morning. We had our dog and were so happy to see others there with their dogs. As dog owners are aware, there a few cafes in Perth where you can bring your fur bestie. The waitress also happily brought us a bowl of water for pup. Big tick! <br/>We both ordered a long black each which was perfect temperature and well made (not bitter). We also both ordered the scrambled eggs on five grains and the eggs were the best scrambled eggs we've ever had. Very Generous portion and included 2 very generous sized pieces of toast. A very enjoyable experience on a beautiful perth winters day. This place was very busy and we were very lucky to get a table almost straight away.
Bottomlesspit
I was delighted to see this cafe on moving back to Perth. It was busy and had a good ambiance. However, the coffee was not great. I ordered a latte and it was definitely a flat white and quite watery. My friend ordered a cappuccino and when it came out with no chocolate on top my friend mentioned she had ordered a cappuccino so they said they would "fix it up" which involved them tapping some chocolate on top what was definitely a flat white. The food was nice and good serving sizes. My friends pumpkin bruschetta looked delicious and I was happy with my toast and jam, the bread was nice and thick, however, I feel like the jam was more of a coulis. I wouldn't come back in a hurry but I would still like to try more of their food!
Lin
Delicious food. Ribs for breakfast? How can I say no. Didn't realise the salad for the ribs would be like a side salad size so I didn't end up finishing it. Friend had the French toast and was also delicious.

There was quite a lot of hype about Finlay & Sons when it first came on the scene last year. I too have planned to go many times but only recently have gotten around to it. On advice from a friend that Finlay & Sons was rather busy over the weekend, I took the rare opportunity to visit midweek with Mr. T. It was still quite busy but we easily got a table inside. I found it very cramped and extremely noisy in general. We found that it was very hard to have a conversation across our table, nevertheless, we stayed anyway and had to look at the menu.

Quite a good breakfast on a Sunday morning. A busy place, we were lucky to get a table for two handily positioned in the doorway of the shoe shop next door, and the funny little seat that is more like a stepping stool than a chair was about as comfortable as sitting on a stack of bricks. Perhaps they want a high turnover of customers. And busy Beaufort St wasn't exactly restful. All good news from then on though. The coffee was good, good enough to please She Who Must Be Adored, which means it was very good indeed. She was also pleased with her poached eggs with spinach and asparagus, but my waffle with caramelised bananas, maple syrup and mascarpone cheese was just downright sinfully delicious. All right, it wasn't health food. But who would possibly care? Heaven on a plate. We might try inside at a slightly less busy time for the next visit. We might even get a comfortable chair?
T-M@c
Came here for a late brunch and tried out the sausage and potato dish while my other half tried out the bacon and egg salad. Both dishes were average, nothing special. The coffee is also ok.

Was in for breakfast on the weekend, granted it was a little busy but it was very poor service and our experience was tainted by that. Coffee and food was below expectations. Will have to give it another try in the future.

Absolutely adore the green breakfast here. Love the layout and the staff are gorgeous. One of my favs. Would recommend to anyone easily, if haven't already give it a go!

Came here for brunch. Heard good things. Ordered the Pork toastie and a mocha. Food was fantastic however had to wait about 15 mins to order. Food came out in 30 mins after ordering. Downside is time but the food is fantastic! Worth a try if you're in the area.

Same old story for Perth Cafe'!!<br/>My partner and I went today for lunch because for the first time while driving past it didn't look too busy. <br/>The atmosphere was nice, but the food was average and expensive.<br/>The presentation of the poached eggs with toast was horrendous and $7 for a small piece of salmon...Really?<br/>I'm not even going to start talking about my dish which I couldn't eat.<br/>Sorry I won't be coming back
Littlekat
Love this place! The service is great, prompt and friendly. The coffee is the best in Perth and the little takeaway hatch is awesome for those in a hurry. The food is delicious and healthy, the crumbed chicken is very tasty. New favourite brunch place!
What Bek Ate
Lovely food, great service and a cozy, inviting space to chill. Came for Sunday breakfast, had the French toast with marscapone and fruit, and my husband had the waffles with coffee marscapone and banana. Both amazing, my French toast could have done with a little more marscapone, but otherwise a really fantastic place for your morning brekkie.
Koren Bryan
Been here a couple of times, coffee is good and the waffles with caramelised bananas, coffee marscapone and maple syrup is yummyyyyy and very decadent! The waffles were caramelised and you can order it in three sizes according to your appetite. I wouldn't recommend getting the large unless you have a big appetite or you are going to share it with someone else.

We go here at least 3  or 4 times per week and just love the whole experience every time.  We normally pop in for takeaway coffee but usually would get breakfast once a week - the service is always fantastic and very quick the coffee is great and the food is awesome.  I always eye up the cakes but haven't tried one yet but they look fabulous also -So glad a decent café has finally opened up in the Ingelwood area- we used to always go to Mia's but due to new ownership that place has really gone downhill thank the lord Finlay has come to the rescue :) Oh and I love the décor too- so cute!

3.4rating <br/>Service was excellent - they gave you space to order and then turned up just when you need them. Smiley, helpful and bubbly service with food and drinks that came at a great pace. It gets packed but never too hard to grab a seat. I used to come here when I worked nearby to grab a smooth flat white and a cupcake. Cakes/slices get sold out most of the time. <br/><br/>My office favorite is the carrot cupcake which is never too sweet and has a great amount of cream cheese. Today we had an apple slice which was not too sweet: cream cheese on a bed of cinnamon apples and a slightly salted coconutty cake layer. It was ok. <br/><br/>Green breakfast (asparagus , poached eggs on bed of blanched spinach and breakfast muffin with hollandaise was quite ok $22 , ordered out of necessity because we had a large portion of sticky Ribs and potatoes with Apple slaw $27 to share). Ribs were a good size for the price tag and we enjoyed it though it was slightly too sweet. It had a lot of sauce too which was good to dip crunchy potatoes with. <br/><br/>All in all, a good neighborhood breakfast place with nice food. Great alfresco spot too. <br/>
Kelli
Small venue. But lovely sitting outside in the shade, not so much for those in the sun. Seems they have gone trendy style over function. The toast is the size of a brick and about as easy to cut. It ok, they give butter to soften the brick toast, unfortunately only enough to cover a corner of the brick. Bacon.... Delicious, shame it doesn't actually come with the meal it's an extra cost.. Wired that breakfast has no bacon. Staff very accommodating and willing to please. It's disappointing that coffee is small but tasty. Mocha, yum... But cup way to hot to handle. Whatever happened to handles on cups, did I miss a memo??
Kermit
Had Sunday breakfast here. Waited 15min for a table, while there were a couple of empty tables-Was abit annoyed. Place was small, nice decor tho. Got a bit stuffy. Service wasn't too bad. I thought paying $7 for 200mls of watermelon juice and a piece of mint abit expensive!! The Carmel banana waffle was delicious!!<br/>Overall nice hunt..
THE ILLUSIVE FEMME
Visited with friends this morning, had to be added to a list for a table as it was super busy. Only waited about ten minutes for a spot outside. Menu is good, really different. One of my friends asked is they had hollandaise sauce and the waitresses response was "yes, but our chef can't be bothered making it when it is busy" - that was a bit awkward. Sassy chef! Tried the Salmon Taco - it was beautiful. The salmon was moist and well cooked, the pita bread was crunchy and the salad and guacamole were very fresh. Yum. Really enjoyed the juice too.
Fooodmachine
I liked the atmosphere, trendy vibe and rustic decor. However I found the food to be overpriced typical brunch fare. 7 dollars for an extra side of smoked salmon is ridiculous. Very long wait for food. Unattentive staff, need to use their brains more. However the food was good - i had the ribs which was a good portion and the sticky ribs were delicious, and it was well balanced with an apple slaw. Others around the table had the French toast and bratwurst and found these to be alright. If the prices were more reasonable I would come back more often.
PBtraveller
As a local I now come here a lot, because I've never really been disappointed with the food or service. Great menu, food is beautifully presented and cooked, coffee is up to standard and the interior is suitably Inglewood-y - they also allow dogs on the outside and split billing. Rivals the Sayers siblings IMO.
Lifelovetravelfood
We came here for a mid-week breakfast and had a lovely experience. Staff are friendly and service is efficient. I love the tableware, copper accents and decor. Coffee is pretty good - interestingly a long mac topped up take away tastes a lot different to having one in the cafe - much more milk in the takeaways which I prefer but I adore the fact that they have Pure Press almond milk - my favourite in Perth!<br/><br/>My Mum had the French toast which looked rather small but she assured me was a great size and really delicious, not too sweet. I had the big green brekky which came with two perfectly poached eggs, English muffin, avocado, spinach, lots of gorgeous asparagus, hollandaise sauce and shaved cheese. It was much better than I was expecting it to be! Everything was perfectly cooked and I loved every bite. The asparagus was divine - it's one of my favourite veges but so many places get it so wrong! <br/><br/>As it's an all day menu, some of the choices do seem a little odd for breakfast but there are plenty of breakfast options to choose from. I was surprised to see very few meat options (not a criticism) you can add bacon or smoked salmon to a dish but it does get a little expensive to do this.<br/><br/>I really liked Finlay & Sons, I'll be back!
MmmFood
Dined here today for breakfast and could not fault them at all! The food was delicious, the service was friendly, and this has to be the best cup of coffee I have had since moving to Inglewood.<br/>The inside was a little loud, but it was a great atmosphere.<br/>The food was very delicious and I can't really fault anything.<br/>
Happy Diner
Sunday Breakfast.<br/>The place was packed.... good sign, we got a table with 5 minutes, yes it was outside with a chance of rain, but i put my trust in the large eaves to keep me dry.<br/>We ordered 2 cappuccinos, 2 orange juices, coffee was great and the orange juice was freshly squeezed which is a good start as i means they are aiming in at quality. <br/>I ordered the waffles with coffee mascarpone with banana and maple syrup, with a side of bacon.<br/>Where do i start... Bacon was perfectly cooked "DO NOT CHANGE THE SIZE TO CRAPPY SLICES... " i loved it even the wife who is not a huge bacon fan agreed it was awesome.  The Bananas were almost caramelized and dripping in maple syrup went perfectly with the waffle and mascarpone, the bananas reminded me of the Chinese desert of deep fried bananas. The wife has two poached eggs and sourdough toasted bread.... <br/>We will be back, sons is already planning to go next week...<br/><br/>Plenty of parking to the rear of the building.. Oh thanks to the person who opened the door on my red range rover and left their white paint but no contact details....<br/>Service 9/10<br/>Food 9/10<br/>Ambiance 7/10

2pm Sat. Poached eggs w/toast. Bacon & smashed avo side. Macchiato.<br/>Nice vibe, attentive staff. Only minor gripes. Will be back to try out rest of menu, lots of good healthful options. <br/>PROS: cool menu, excellent produce sources, tasty food, yoghurt in avo for perfect tang, eggs poached just right, bread toasted right, coffee spot on<br/>CONS: bacon served in unappetising slab - crispy thin slices wld be nicer, knives aren't sharp/sturdy enough to cut thru toasted sourdough, staff cldnt answer on the spot Qns about menu items <br/>SUGGESTIONS:<br/>1. replace bacon slabs with slices (I know I know not as trendy)<br/>2. provide sturdy/sharp knife option amongst cutlery<br/>3. ensure staff have seen every dish & are able to describe elements without constant 'I'll have to ask' answers (better to ask than make things up obviously but knowing menu wld be even better)

Enjoyed this place with my mum this morning. My highlight was the peanut butter and jelly time cupcake! Yummy! My lowlight was that we sat near the counter where the waitresses were emptying left plates of food into an open bin about a metre away from us... This could've been done elsewhere out of customer's view.

Worst service! Over priced food! Average coffee. Trying way to hard to be a hipster Melbourne cafe and failing. Was crammed onto a communal table. Then made to stand so the waitress could serve a table behind me. I asked to move but after much was refused because "other people might come in" food was tasty but small and expensive portions. So many nice places on Beaufort won't bother with this one again.<br/>

Excellent Service - delicious food ! <br/>Arrived there just before kitchen was closing <br/>(2:00pm) food came out quickly - was well presented and Very Tasty ! Will definitely be going back !

Great coffee (apparently using the same blend as nearby Bossman), good music (mostly 90s alt-rock like Third Eye Blind, Matchbox Twenty, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers et al) and some absolutely amazing banana waffles with coffee mascarpone, bacon and maple syrup. <br/>(Pro tip- if you're thinking of going large, try having the medium first)

They've only been open a few months, yet Finlay & Sons have already changed their menu. That's a bummer as I was hankering for the mushroom bruschetta with goats cheese and it's no longer available. It's been replaced by a mushroom fondue. Now I like a good old fondue in winter or when I'm holidays in Switzerland, but on a 34 degree day in Perth it is just about the last thing I would order. <br/><br/>Friday lunch time was unusually quiet. It was stinking hot and maybe folks had stayed home where it was cooler. I couldn’t find anything savoury on the menu to tempt me, and finally chose the French toast with mascarpone and vanilla syrup, something I wouldn't ordinarily choose for lunch. The presentation of the dish was pretty, though the toast wasn’t soggy all the way through as I like it, and the blobs of mascarpone were less than generous. Plenty of syrup though, and overall it was a pleasant enough dish without being anything special. My latte wasn’t hot enough or strong enough, and that was the same when I popped in a few weeks ago for an afternoon snack. <br/><br/>The service here is really friendly and efficient, and I love the décor with the rose gold lampshades, exposed brick, distressed timber tables, fresh flowers and pots of greenery. There is a good selection of cakes and sweet treats too, and the slice of gluten free carrot cake I had a few weeks ago was really good, with yummy cream cheese icing. I love that you are given a jug of water as soon as you are seated, and that there is a mix of indoor and outdoor seats to choose from. On this hot Friday though, some air con would have been a very welcome respite from the heat, but at midday the windows were wide open, and it was damn hot. Whew! I’d hope they would crank up the air con in a week or so, otherwise mornings look like being the only comfortable time to visit.

Went for Brunch this morning and was impressed with an upmarket and funky cafe. The place was pumping, with alfresco tables outside on the Beaufort St strip and a modest sized dining room. The food coffee and food was delivered quickly and delicious - nicely poached eggs, thick toast, and a beautiful chia pannacotta with fresh mango and passionfruit. Really good coffee! Pricewise, with four of us having a meal and coffees, it came to just over $85 - so not overly cheap, but it was fine. Happily come back to Finlay & Sons.

My hubby and I went for breakfast on a Thursday and found this place to be ok but not amazing, as a few friends had said it was.<br/>I had the omelette and hubby had scrambled eggs on toast. Hubby, liking no frills with his meal, was not impressed to have spring onions covering the eggs and found the eggs a bit too underdone. The omelette I had was delicious however we both ordered a side of bacon at $5 for one piece and half of it was fat!<br/>We found the staff to be brusque and had to wave staff down to ask for pepper to be brought out, which when you've ordered eggs I think they should ask if you'd like some straight away. They also didn't ask how our meal was or thank us for the business when I paid so I felt they could do with a bit more customer service training.<br/>Hubby was unimpressed that he couldn't order a plain OJ or a soft drink but I liked their OJ infused with ginger and my coffee was delicious. <br/>Although I wasn't that disappointed, we wouldn't go back here due to the limited selection.

Sunday lunch with hubby. Instantly fell in love with the decor. Exposed brick, rose gold light fittings, railway tiles... Very funky. We ordered the crumbed chicken and the bratwurst. Both were amazingly delicious and filling. We were also really impressed with the friendly and fast service. Grabbed a cronut to go, can't wait to try it!!! Will definitely be back!

One of the best chicken schnitzel i've ever had. The portion was huge and they were using chicken thigh instead of breast and it was crumbed with corn flakes. The corn flakes crumb gave it a very crispy outside and the meat was still juicy. <br/><br/>Coffee was good too, service was friendly too. <br/><br/>Went back for the 2nd time and I had the bacon & corn fritter. They were using the same corn flakes crumb, which was very nice and the fritter mixture was made of bechamel. It was rich, but the accompanying salad and dill yoghurt balance it well.

The place is picture PERFECT and the food albeit erring slightly on the side of expensive is undoubtedly delicious. You won't get a meal that will make you bloated coming here, nor will you get burnt coffee, nor any rude staff. But for those looking for a cafe experience that is well developed, you will not find it here just yet (personal opinion) as the staff are all young, and the cafe IS still only several months old so there is still development that needs to continue. But from what I've received so far from my two visits to this place are friendly service, absolutely DELICIOUS food, a reasonable bill and a very nice, cosy and relaxed afternoon in a nice setting where I can both enjoy my privacy on my table yet be in a bustling cafe. Keep it up guys!

The interior of this cafe is nice and the staff were friendly however that's where the positives end. The staff were just not on the ball, had to wave a wait staff down twice to try and get their attention to order. Our food came out with no cutlery. The long mac topped up may as well of been served in a shot glass. The food was okay but could have been better.

Three of us went for breakfast and it was truly amazing. Can highly recommend this place if you want a good selection of breakfasts with a fantastic vibe. Very friendly service. Only downer being the coffee could be better, the barista appears to be a little bit arrogant concentrate on the coffee!!!

Enjoyed our visit here this morning for breakfast. The cupcakes are a gold coin donation towards heart health (lol) but are lovely fluffy and not too sweet. Not a fan that they oil the toast which I normally don't prefer, and especially so since it tasted a little like there was some kind of savory flavors that came with it :/ which didn't quite mix with the jam I had. The croque monsieur with pastrami and brie was nice and a pretty big serving, but also really quite rich.

This is a remarkable place<br/>I've been here a couple of times and it just keeps on getting better and better. The food hear is outstanding. I had the bratwurst and it was simply delicious. I the only fault was when I ate it all, there was no more.<br/>So here's my review<br/>FOOD:5/5 absolutely spectacular<br/>SERVICE: 4/5 service has been good on busy and quiet days<br/>VARIETY: 5/5 great choice on the menu<br/>VIBE:5/5 nice feeling place on a beautiful street<br/>LOCATION:4/5 however may be a bit tricky to find parking and a table depending on what day.<br/>23/25=4.6<br/><br/><br/>

Now I've only had takeaway coffee from here, but the experience left me not really wanting to return.<br/><br/>We stood at the takeaway window as I had my dog, and were not sure if it was the correct place to order. It was busy, and I accept that sometimes you just have to wait. However, a blonde woman (who just seemed to be hovering uselessly while the staff looked industrious) stared at us several times, without saying anything. A reassuring "We'll be with you in a moment" or "Sorry, could you come over to **correct place to order**" would have been appreciated, but nope, open-mouthed stare. Eventually a lovely staff member said that she'd be with us soon, then took our order. It was a little bit of a muddled event, but hey, they'd only been open a week or two. It all culminated in unremarkable coffee. Maybe I'll try it again sometime, but I hope goldfish mouth has stopped staring at customers.

Chai latte was average, can't remember the name of the dish but the bacon corn fritter was dry. Not a good first impression!
Queen Of Bad Timing
I ordered the goats curd baguette with roasted mushrooms ($19.00). I chose a side of the smashed avocado with yoghurt ($4.00). The presentation of the dish wasn't quite what I was expecting, but I enjoyed this dish - there was a nice selection of different mushrooms which had been cooked well, offering a little resistance still to each bite. Shavings of sharp parmesan were mixed up with the spinach leaves and sprouts on the board.

This place is terrible. Cold coffee and tea, not only us but the people either side of us. They were hardly busy but the waitresses couldn't even find the time to show us any hosting skill. The real shame is that almost no waitresses in any perth cafes have any hosting skills... is that not it why we go out. If I wanted to be ignored I'd eat at home. I also don't appreciate it when the waitress feels the need to play with her nose ring while taking our order... gross. Food was average and badly presented. Overall, never going back, plenty more places around.

Great coffee and latte art. I had poached eggs on sour dough toast delicious.<br/>The service is great and the waitress brought a bottle of water to my table without even having to ask.

We went for lunch when it was first opened all seemed ok & I think the owner? was there doing a good job trying to accomodate his new customers and food also nice, so thanks for that time! But now second time return visit for a Birthday lunch we were caught at the front before even entering the doors by a female waitress on 9/9/15 around 1pm and asked in a abrupt way if we were only just having coffee or eating and then starred at our pram as we have a baby and was just focused on that saying you can't sit inside because we have hot coffee inside never have we been told this anywhere in Perth... So you will have to sit outside  in 30 degree heat with a baby? basically just turned as away with a bad attitude! There is so many choices around now that is not the way to treat your customers. Not returning again!

After working in a cafe I have a certain expectations. The vibe and atmosphere was great all staff are warm and friendly. The coffee was simply warm milk and my long black had cold water mixed in which I had not asked for. The poached eggs were over done almost boiled and my banana bread was very boring. Service was extremely slow taking about 15 minutes to even take our order and the waitress who asked how my meal was seemed uninterested when I told her I wasn't happy. Definitely will not be returning to this cafe.

It was the mention of goats curd and roasted mushrooms by Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want This Time .... DELETE THIS ACCOUNT. that saw me visit for breakfast this morning and I'm so glad I did.  The cafe feels warm and inviting and I was lucky to get a table.  Two thick slices of toasted baguette slathered in goats cheese were lightly grilled and accompanied by perfectly roasted and seasoned mushrooms on  a bed of tatsoi - it's a flavour combination that's hard to beat.  Couple that with a hot and strong cup of tea, the sun streaming in on to my back through the window and the cryptic crossword and I was a very happy person.<br/><br/>Some very tempting meals passed by me (I almost wavered when I saw the thick cut bacon land on a table next to me) and I was seduced by the array of cakes on the counter.  Sadly, the caramel slice was not a success (the base was rock hard) - it seems I chose poorly.  <br/><br/>Plenty of enthusiastic young wait staff.  I have the feeling I'll be making this a regular for breakfast.

Visited today for a coffee and a salted caramel Cronut (homemade too). I had a really nice coffee (luck of the draw maybe after reading the other reviews), I guess it helped that they were not overly busy and under the pump - I was there after 1pm. Really nice vibe and very hipster like, so nice a great cafe is opening up in the burbs! Well worth a try.

Lovely cafe and the waitress who served us was friendly. It took a while for the food to be served but all dishes were nice. The only downfall is their coffee isn't very nice and is very small
The Breakfast Confidential
When was the last time you went to a cafe where every single staff member you encountered genuinely smiled at you? For me, it was last Friday when I visited Beaufort street’s newest addition – Finlay & Sons no 917. Besides the super friendly staff, it has all the hallmarks of a successful cafe – exposed brick, filament lights, a large communal table and instagram worthy bits and bobs on the table that make for the perfect styled food shots. But looks aren’t everything and I’ve been fooled by shiny things before.

This place has a lot of potential! It's in a good location and already busy.  The coffee is great and the staff are warm and friendly.<br/><br/>However I found the food a bit unremarkable. I went during the first week and tried a muffin which wasn’t cooked in the middle, and a cinnamon scroll which was a little bland.  Unfortunately the baked goods on display at the counter remind me of those you find at a hotel buffet breakfast or conference lunch...<br/><br/>Went back again last week and ordered the truffle eggs and baked beans from the menu. Eggs were well cooked. Beans were house made but the texture reminded me of canned beans. Having said all that, some of the other dishes I saw coming out of the kitchen which looked pretty good, so I’ll be keen to give them another try.

I love my coffee. I drink coffee once a day, and I want to enjoy that coffee. I went there to try the coffee and it was very good, not to hot and the taste was just perfect. I went there again the next day and, coffee was out of balance. I felt so disappointed, it tested very bitter and very hot, after I asked them to be not to hot. I thought I'll try the next day. I ordered the same coffee but I got cold, bitter coffee AGAIN! It was the last coffee I'll have there. So now I go Mary's Bakery for a coffee, it always the same. It is a shame, I thought it could be a good cafe for coffee and close to me. They seem very friendly there, but coffee fails.

Super delicious place for breakfast/brunch. Very welcoming interior and their cutlery is super cute aswell! I ordered the bratwurst with spinach and potato hash which was delicious. Would come back to try out other items on their menu.

Finlay & Sons no 917 is the latest cafe to hit Beaufort Street in Inglewood, and it is certainly making an impact after only three weeks. We noted that they open at 7:30am for coffee but the kitchen doesn’t start for thirty minutes, so we arrived right on 8am yesterday (Saturday) to find it just about full. They’ve managed to squeeze a lot of tables inside, and there are tables outside and some shared seating, but it’s worth noting that it’s pretty cramped.

This is my new favourite! Lovely local brekkie/brunch place opened up just last week. We tried it out Sunday for a late brekkie and it sure does impress! The green breakfast with asparagus, spinach, smashed avocado, poached eggs and toast is just what you need to start the day! Lovely hint of truffle too. The salmon wrap hubby had is also excellent, packed with flavour. I love that this is my new local and the coffee is great too! They welcome your fur babies if you grab a table outside and have a coffee takeaway window too. Inglewood needs more places like this!

Latest addition to Perth restaurants, just opened recently (last week?) Coffee order starts at 7.30am, food order starts at 8am. We arrived just after 8am, cafe's already half full of (also curious?) customers. Hubby ordered Bratwurst with Spinach & Potato Hash. I ordered Green Breakfast comes with Asparagus, Smashed Avocado, Wilted Spinach & Poached Egg. Both food were tasty, but quite small. Bratwurst somehow looked and tasted more like mini Meatloaf, but we liked it😋 For drinks we had Mocha & Chai Latte (powdered). Chai Latte was nice, unfortunately Mocha was out of balance😔 Decor was done nicely, very modern. Service was good too, not too much hassle. Hope they will improve coffees quality and food serving sizes. Looking forward to visit this place again soon.
