Review Saffron Indian Restaurant - Inglewood

Food is always super delicious. Customer service was great. Great experience in every visit. Must try….👌😊

Easily the best Indian restaurant in Perth. Have been eating here since 2014 when we lived in Inglewood, have since moved further away and still make Saffron our go-to. Consistently great food. Amazing naan and If you dine in, the onion bahji. Delicious.
Garima Demble
Paneer karachi was good. Samosa's look a bit burnt or dark in colour but tasted good

First time visit last night. What lovely, attentive service by all staff, and the most delicious food. The onion bhaji is crunchy, and so tasty. The dhal and palak paneer flavours are amazing. The serves are plentiful and flavours are spot on. A very delicious dinner, and so much positive feedback for your lovely restaurant. Thank you so much for a fabulous evening. 🙏

We order take away from Saffron regularly, its the best indian in Inglewood. Tonight, they made a mistake and sent our food to the wrong address. Its not the mistake that matters, its how you fix it. Within ten minutes, we had freshly cooked food, an extremely apologetic delivery driver and a complimentary bottle of wine as an apology. Can't ask for better than that. Bravo Saffron - bloody brilliant. :)

Been there a few times already. Food is really good but customer service has ALWAYS been bad. Staff are rude, start up unnecessary conversations, look annoyed whenever we ordered. Restaurant ambience is alright.
Anna
We have ordered from here on Menulog three times now and it's consistently good and authentic flavours. The lamb vindaloo and butter chicken is great 👍🏻
Rihaan Choudhary
Very bad experience. We ordered Aloo tiki, kadhi paneer and butter roti, food was very bad, not even worth one star. Aloo tiki was too salty and there was no salt in the kadahi panner. Very slow customer service and front staff had lots of attitude and very rude. Waste of time and money. Could not even finish one roti.
Margaux
Food was below average, chicken was still pink and onion baiji was lots of little pieces of onion loose in a bag with no flavour. Overall super disappointing

Best Indian restaurant I’ve found in Perth besides two fat Indians. Saffron is affordable and the food is delicious. Closest Indian we have found compared to the ones we have in the UK. highly recommend.

Great service... Normal food
The saffron starter platter was a bit cold and below expectations
Beef vindaloo was tasteless
Prawns jalfrezi is my favorite. I highly recommend.
Butter chicken again below expectations.
Hands down the best Malai Kofta I've had anywhere. I've moved interstate and it's ruined it for me, nothing can compete. Takeaway has always been quick, nice and hot, servings are a great size and it comes with free poppadoms. The restaurant is a lovely setting, the servers were friendly and brought around complimentary desert tasters. Sorely missing this place, and visit every time I'm back in Perth.

By my family's favourite Indian joint! Portions are good and the food is tasty without being overly salty and oily, like many other Indian restaurants are. I've been here around 5 times and the quality of the food is consistently good.
Tayla Jayne
Went here for dinner with some girlfriends. We ordered the butter chick, satay chicken, samosas, white rice and garlic naan. The meal was enjoyable. The portions were large and tasted very authentic. The staff were very good, making sure we were happy and had enough drinks. Portions were so large that there was enough left over for the next days lunch

Hands down the best Indian in Perth! The curries are full of beautiful flavour and the service is excellent, too. Quality is consistent whether dining in or ordering on Uber. Can't wait for more!

Such a lovely place with great staff! We only went in there to pick up takeaway after ordering over the phone, but we were handed our meal without question of payment and was farewelled by one of the female staff members. We could of easily walked out but I turned to a male staff member behind the counter and told him we hadn't paid yet. He nodded and smiled and turned to the fridge handing us 2 cans of coke and said 'thank you for your honesty', before taking our payment. What a lovely gesture for something he didn't have to do :) Thank you Saffron for making our night.

The korma is absolutely amazing, but their other curries, such as lamb vindaloo and palak paneer, are great as well. They also have a unique onion bahjii which is incredibly moorish. Highly recommended.
Renato
Our first taste of Saffron was fantastic, albeit after a shaky start. The service was friendly and welcoming and was very professional when taking back undercooked lamb. The replacement dish was impressive and so was the rest of the meal. Will be back.
Frankie
Top butter chicken and lamb Korma. The Kashmir nann was one of the better ones I've tried. Mango beer which is definate a plus. Would come back for sure

The place is so cosy, very easy to bring your family and have a chat and service was really friendly. The food came out quite quickly and we were impressed with them. We ordered chicken briyani and aloo kulcha to accompany our curry dishes and they're really good! The curries we had was the lamb korma and beef vindaloo. The food was excellent that we can't help but finish them all between the two of us.

Don't bother.
We went on a Saturday night and was very disappointed. Our order was taken and the starter served but no sign of our drinks. Only after going to the bar to ask for our drinks were they served.

Several tables were not cleared after the guests had left despite people waiting to be seated.

The staff was friendly but over worked. The restaurant is very under staffed given the size of the place.

Until the manager/owner increases the staff levels I would not bother coming here.

Just bought takeaway.. Food presents well.. although samosa stone cold, mint chutney seperated & naan bread chewy. Rice was ok. Biggest problem was the cold lamb roganjosh. It was all sauce !! There was only 5 little cubes of meat.. I called the restaurant and was told this is the size of the serve for $20.. For a combined bill of $40 it was a waste of money.. Essentially my wife and I ate cold Indian sauce with cold soft samosa, we had 2 1/2 little cubes of meat each and mopped up the sauce with the rubber garlic dusted frisbees. Never again saffron. Worst value for money ever.
LittleMiss
We were impressed with this restaurant! The decor was nice and clean, ambience was also lovely with the music. Waiters weren't overbearing or pushing us to order drinks.. Food came out in good time and with 2 mains and an entree between 2 people we could not finish the food! Good serving sizes compared to other Indian places we have been to in Perth. Will be back!

Decent Indian on the Inglewood/Bayswater border.
For me it is hard for Indian food to stand out but I do like it. For these guys the garlic naan was as good as I required. It was good. The grilled chicken tikka very juicy and tasty. The mango lassi very nice. the lamb sikh (kebab) and mint sauce needed more kick. The Goan Fish curry was nice. Good sauce but at home you'd use fresh not frozen fish and that makes a difference. Restaurant fair standard style (but nice and creamy and tomatoey) butter chicken. So good stuff and for a light dinner a couple can happily order a curry and bowl of rice to share (or two serves of naan) and that'll cost about $30 plus drinks. I expect their takeaway business is pretty strong. They do do a decent job. Personally I prefer a butter chicken which you can tell is made from left over tandoori chicken and there is an Indian restaurant in WA which does it that style. I prefer that style. Apparently the chef is from North India so I expect the biryani to worth a try next time.
@Foodieguide_lily
Having had a couple of local friends tell me this place was good, I decided to try it with my Entertainment book - but found the food to be very bland and the staff very rude. I ordered biryani takeaway and showed them my discount - only to be told it wasn't valid. I'm getting quite accustomed to dodgy operators try and rip me off with the book in Perth so I simply challenged the basis for this and they tried to tell me it was only for dine in. As I have the app I brought up the terms and tried to show them their voucher specifically stated it was valid for takeaway, then they changed their story saying I had to spend $30 or more. I again patiently showed them this was not the case and why on the app, and so they changed their story again.

I was fed up so I asked for the manager and the girl who had been quite petulant and rude offered to speak to the Chef (who knows why). She came back and said it was fine but then proceeded to ask me if I had dined there and lecture me on how it was better value to dine in with the discount - I said again 9
patiently that this was incorrect as it was the same rate of discount regardless and she seemed to be looking for ways to add more snide comments to me with the second waitress then ignoring other customers to chime in and gang up on me. I'm not sure what the heck was going on and why a simple 25% off was so hard and why they were looking for multiple ways to put me down but I certainly didn't appreciate the attitude.

I wouldn't have felt quite as tipped off if the biryani had been good but it was quite bland and dry with barely any chicken. I notified the Entertainment book people of the issues with the card and they had also gotten a rude response and the owner lying to them about what had happened. There are many other Indian restaurants nearby that are so much tastier, cheaper AND value their customers. I will not be coming back - there is enough bad service around but this was quite deliberately rude and based on their very polite treatment of Anglo customers I can only put it down to race issues as I was very polite and nice to them right up to leaving. Disgusting attitude.

Saffron has proven time and time again that it is an amazing Indian restaurant.
After eating here on multiple occasions and even utilising Uber eats I can say that I am very impressed with the food. The chicken Tikka Masala is my go to dish at Saffron and one I highly recommend. I am a big fan of beef vindaloos and although Saffron's is not the best I have had it is certainly very tasty.

One of the only let downs of Saffron is the speed of service, in saying that it is made up for by the quality of the food.

Considering that I can walk to Saffron I will be returning here very soon.

Have had quite a bit of Indian in Perth and tried this for the first time tonight (found out about them in the Entertainment book). The lamb and chicken we ordered was tender and full of flavour. Would definitely go back!
Little Aussie Epicurean
Second visit to Saffron Indian. As with all good Asian restaurants the customer service is slow but is compensated by the quality of the food. Would go back just for the pistachio Kulfi (think ice-cream with way more effort). Don't normally eat meat curries, however really enjoyed their beef vindaloo. Also recommend the Aloo Gobi (potato and cauliflower curry)

Indian cuisine encompasses a gambit of regional and traditional cuisine, influenced by climate, culture, religion and ethnic groupings. The Saffron Indian restaurant tries to homogenise all these factors resulting in a culinary parody they call Indian food.

This is evident by the falsities in the menu, Butter Chicken originated from Glasgow, Chicken Vindaloo from Goa (does not exist, only made with pork). That homogenization continues in the sameness of taste in multiple curries we tried. There is a blandness of flavor which permeates through the menu, such a shame to have the opportunity to present authentic food, but instead deliver this sham. With a menu consisting of so many curries, it’s evident that curries are not prepared individually, but rather made with a common stock sauce, and then modified to the type of meat ordered.

As with most Punjabi restaurants The Saffron is halal, its owners have renounced the Sikh Rehat Maryada, the BJP, and Modi and swears allegiance to the paisa (भारत के दुश्मन)

The Saffron Indian Restaurant best left to the unwashed and culturally naïve diaspora

Went out last night for a casual family dining experience. Firstly it took 30 minutes for anyone to take our order. We then waited a further 35 minutes for our food - this after 2 tables arriving after us were both served and had their meals before us. The food itself was lovely - could have done with a few more meat pieces in the sauce - had Lamb korma, butter chicken and the prawn curry. Then waited again - no clearing and no offering of anything further. Decided to head elsewhere for rest of the evening. On paying, was asked if everything was OK - I said food was lovely but the service was terrible. Was then told they were down 2 staff. I own my own business so am fully aware of what levels both product and service need to be. A simple attentiveness to us RE the situation up front would probably have sufficed and gone a long way to us understanding the situation. Unfortunately explaining this to us on exiting and paying did little to turn my experience around.

Been to Saffron around 10 times now, had takeaways tonight. From the top...the restaurant is clean, organised, and well decorated. It's well lit, and not too loud. Good drinks. Prices - great. Dishes are from 12 to 18 a dish, tonight 4 dishes served 4 adults and 2 kids. The food - love it. First, it's consistently excellent. Second, it tastes AMAZING. Tonight, we went western style Indian - butter chicken, lamb korma, beef vindaloo and malai kofta, rounded with steamed rice, spiced rice, and butter and Kashmiri naan. All was awesome. All were different in flavour, texture, aroma, appeal...together, it was just amazing. Hard to choose a best bit - maybe the Kashmiri naan, best I've ever had? The malai kofta, in that so good cashew sauce? The slightly charred chicken in the butter chicken sauce? Only criticism tonight - the lamb in the korma was slightly - and I mean SLIGHTLY - tough. Another awesome thing? It's on the gold card - and after that, tonights total was $60. Crazy good value. I strongly recommend this place, for a nice meal out, or just awesome takeaway...

Lovely quality, cheap Indian food. Takeaway delivery is $5! but the resturant is well worth a visit. Clean and great service. Highly recommend Malabari dishes ! Bon appetite! 🌈

We haven't been to Saffron for a while. Although I've always enjoyed their food, it was especially great on Saturday night. Every dish we had was perfect, I could not fault anything. From the bahji, samoosas, tandoori, and tikka to the malibari and naan. It was fantastic.
We had one of those discount vouchers, but I felt too guilty to use it. The food was so great that I paid full price - silly me :)
Mrs_ox_qtn
Ordered takeaway through eatnow app. Amazing menu and delivered fresh. Absolutely delicious, I think it is our new number one. We will definitely be ordering again, especially if it's another stormy night!
Sharon
The food was decent. Although the beef was kinda tough and not soft like it should be. However what was really disappointing was that they purposefully overcharged me for drinks once they knew I was using a dimmi voucher. For example, they charged me $9 for a lemon lime bitters when it was $5 and the two waitress's started whispering together. For that reason would probably never go back for the dishonest service.
InMyFaceHole
Had a lovely meal here. Interior is really modern and sleek, service is super quick and friendly and the prices reasonable.
We had the mustard beef curry and the vegetarian balls in cashew curry sauce. Both were really interesting and unique flavours which we enjoyed. We also had the plain naan, steamed rice and raita which were your usual tasty sides. Definitely will return to try more of the menu!
KYS
Fast service, great food.
The Tandoori appetizer was perfect.
The staff was reserved which I suppose is expected for Indian people.
I would not hesitate to recommend.

Curry sauces are delicious, but not much meat per dish. Only 6 pieces of meat. The mixed entree was ridiculous, 1 Samoa, 2 pieces of chicken and a lot of deep fried onion. Naan arrived flat and without life. Overall, ok but you'd have to be pretty drunk to forgive them.

I got the Chicken Jhal Frezi and it was sublime! I called up and placed a phone order the lady said 10 minutes which was really prompt, got down there, beautiful restaurant, but the food just speaks for itself. Lucious, full flavours, the aromatic spices, the chicken really takes on the flavour of the sauce. I can't recall the last time I enjoyed a dish this much. Thanks guys

We have been to Saffron a number of times. Barring for one very average experience, this restaurant deliver great food and service. The curries are consistently good although the medium could do with a little more chilli. I remember commenting on three occasions that the "medium" was more like a mild.On a few occasions the lamb was a bit on the tough side - certainly more like a beef.Have been there again on Saturday and had a fantastic lamb vindaloo. A great choice if you are in the mood for a chilli hit. The wife's tikka chicken was apparently great as well. The BYO is also another reason to go there.

Came here for dinner during the weeknight with my partner. I booked the table through Dimmi which made things easy for me. There are plenty of parking on the street in front of the restaurant. The restaurant also does BYO so we took our own bottle of wine.
We started off with Shahi Prawns to share and then pappadums, plain naan, Saag Gosht and Beef Malabari. The pappadum ($3) came in six large pieces while the naan ($3.50) was just one single serving. We ended up ordering another serve of the naan because it was so small for the price. When we originally asked the waitress how many serving size it was she said it was for 2. Not sure how two people could share one piece of naan and be satisfied. Saying that I thought this was one of the best naan in Perth.

They curries were both tasty with lots of meat. Beef was a little tough but both curries had a great gravy. I will definitely be returning soon.

I didn't score 5/5 because the waiters didn't clean the table after diners left so we were surrounded by dirty tables. The place wasnt even full so I'm sure it cant be that hard to wipe down and clear the tables.
SunnySideUp
Great honest little restaurant. First time trying Chicken Malabari and it was divine, came back twice just for that curry. Great garlic naan and good service.
Tara Hill
Do not order take away from this restaurant. It takes for ever 1 hr later from phone call. Not the first time but definitely the last. They don't start cooking till you turn up to pick it up.

Simply Devine. Best buttered chicken I've had in Perth!

Highly disappointed. My partner, I and a friend ate at Saffron last Tuesday. It was an informal night out, so just a main course for each of us and a shared entree.

Now, the place was empty, there were two couples in the restaurant most of the time we were there.

We waited 15 minutes before one of the staff, who was talking to a colleague even brought us a menu, and a further 10 minutes before I asked to take our order.

The entree was a shared plate, which consisted of onion Bahjee, battered prawns, spicy meat balls and spicy chicken. It was oily, looked to be re-cooked and we all felt it was tasteless. Not a great start, let's hope the mains were better.

They weren't...They came out after I asked where they were. Only 1 rice was brought out, so we had to wait for the second to arrive. That took another 5 minutes, by which time our food was cold. Well, the cold food was no different to the entree. Tasteless and really not worth the $21 to $25 per dish.

Upon paying the bill, I complained. The waiter did not ask us how the meal was, nor took much notice when I went through the experience we had. He pretty much told us in a nice, low voice, we were the only people to have ever complained and he would speak to the chef. He did not offer to remove any part of the bill and cheekily told us the food would be better next time.....shame as there will not be a next time Saffron.

My advice, find somewhere else. Jolly good Indian is just up the road, try them, they are great. And no Saffron...I have no affiliations with JGI, they just cook very good, Indian Cuisine...something I think you ought to find out how to do.

Jamey
Lifelovetravelfood
Decent Indian meal. We enjoyed dinner on Saturday night and the staff (for the most part) were very friendly. The samosas were really good, however the onion bhajis were VERY oily. If you love a good onion ring, these are right up your alley!

Our order got mixed up, however they were quick and polite to rectify it. The rice and naan were really nice, our two dishes (chicken madras and beef saag) were good but not amazing.

Great to have the BYO option.

Great value, awesome food & terrific service. I know no other restaurant in town where value is better than at Saffron. I meet a friend here regularly for lunch; & sometimes for dinner. The restaurant offers a $50 dinner for two meal on non weekend days. This includes entrees, curries, naan bread, rice & a glass of wine. The special lunch menu is even better value! My friend & I visited the restaurant for Sunday lunch ordered a meat Taali. For $16.99 pp we were presented with individual portions of curry - one lamb, one chicken - raita, dahl, rice, naan bread and a jalabi! The service genuinely warm, welcoming & attentive without being obtrusive. The food was freshly prepared & steaming hot - and as flavorsomly delicious as good curries are! Amazing value that I couldn't help comparing to the coffee shops that I regularly visit. At Dome earlier in the week I paid one dollar less for a spectacularly frugal (& spectacularly bland) chicken wrap served on a plate without a sprig of garnish.
Saffron restaurant is licenced but you can byo (wine only) for a small corkage - which is what we did. A very satisfying lunch, dessert & wine $38 for two people. Truly the best value in town.

Good food. Great food

Not good for takeaway. Ordered three dishes to be picked up tonight from Saffron. We were told it would be ready in 25 minutes. We left it an extra 15 minutes as we have had takeaway from here before and they are never ready when they say. When we got we still had to wait and then when the food was ready they had forgotten one of the dishes. No apology for having to wait and really didn't care about the missing dish. We didn't want to wait another 15 or 20 minutes for the dish to be ready. We have been using this restaurant because it is close to where we live but the takeaway service leaves a lot to be desired and doesn't seem to get any better. That will be the last time we go there.

Love Saffron;-). I am a big big fan of Indian food, Saffron is one of my favourite restaurants in Perth. My friends and I just went there on the Valentine's day. Service was great as always, I love the fact that there is no minimum spent on such a special night (most restaurants would tell you once seated). I also like the new new decoration, especially the back and outdoor area. Food is fine; we had prawn, fish. chicken, veggie dishes, nahn and rice. More importantly, the price is very reasonable;-)
Jade
Love it!. Been to this restaurant 3 times now and always had a great experience! Food is beautiful and staff were nice, not intrusive. Good portion sizes and not too costly. Love that they also do takeout. Will always come back to this place!
Flyeflye
Just fine. Went here during the week and they were renovating, so we were taken around to their function room in the back. Couldn't hear any of the work going on so this was fine, however the booths were a little tight. Staff were friendly and not intrusive. We shared the mixed entrees which were tasty, very nice onion bhaji in particular. For mains the two of us shared a Lamb Korma and Biryani rice, both of which were flavourful but not stand-out. There are better options at the same price point.
Kate Foy
Amazing. Every curry we try is fantastic! we eat here on a regulsr basis and they deliver too!love thos place!
Lisa
Big greasy ball. I have friends that rave about this place, however when I ordered take away recently I was pretty disappointed. If I hadn't heard how great the food was my expectations wouldn't have been so high, so perhaps I wouldn't have been so critical of the food. We ordered the chefs platter, beef vindaloo and malai kofta. The curries were okay, although I wont be going out of my way to go back there. The chefs platter included onion bahji, which is basically deep fried onion. By the time we got home it had been sitting in a paper back for at least 10 minutes and was horrible and soggy. The sheer quantity of it was almost shocking, with far too much deep fried onion for two people to eat, even as a meal (as if you would want to). It may have been good to have dine in, but having it take away just results in a big greasy ball. I personally think they should take it off the take away menu; it was quite off-putting having it sit on the table, looking at us, while we ate.
Grrlfrommars
Reasonable Indian, but not worthy of such high ratings. Saffron is a perfectly acceptable Indian restaurant to dine into or take friends. The decor is comfortable, the service friendly and fast, and there are plenty of options on the menu to keep most happy.

I don't think the food is quite up to the expectation that the currently high urbanspoon ratings may give you though - the food is by no means authentic so if you're searching for standout Indian, this is not it. It's a good neighbourhood option, but I wouldn't advise going out of your way to come here.

Highlight dishes include the Saag (delicious) and Goan Curry (most authentic). Lowlight is the Bhuna Masala (tastes like salty gravy).
Biker8337
Superb food. We discovered this restaurant quite by chance a year ago and have been back half a dozen times since. The food is superb (mmmm, goan fish curry), the serving sizes are quite deceiving (doggy bags on request - a late night snack make these disappear) and the service is always with a smile. Pricing isn't too bad either. Give it a go, you won't be sorry.
Coulinjo
Service with a smile. We went for dinner last night (Weds 30th) and were just blown away by the wonderful service that never flags. It's always so welcoming and lovely here - it's warm, the staff stand make sure one is comfortable. We had the vegetable byrani and vegetable curry - just delicious. I'm not sure why their onion bahji are so different to other places, but they're still freshly cooked and lovely and salty. The staff listen to how you'd like the meal served and have no problem bringing out things separately or together. I wish I could afford to go once a week, it's a great place to eat.
Lovesfood
I've travelled all around the world and this is the best Indian I've had. I'll be back.
Paulkrowley
Great food and friendly staff. After 14 years in Perth this is the Indian restaurant I was looking for. We will definitely be back.

Good Food All Around. Saffron has never let us down. Excellent food. The curries are very flavoursome and a delight to eat.
Have tried multiple dishes and none of them have been a let-down. Hopefully they keep the flag flying high. cheers

Get takeaway home delivery via eatnow from Saffron at least once a week and it's ALWAYS amazing!

Went last night for dinner and the food was superb!!

Party of six, we had five main curries (fish vindaloo, beef vindaloo, beef malabari, chicken mumtaz & lamb rogan josh), dal makhani and chicken biryani, and all the flavours were distinct and delicious! Some of the best curry we have had (and we have a lot).

The naan breads (kashmiri, butter & garlic) were OK, but not the most flavoursome.

Definitely recommend Saffron for the curries!

Entertainment Book voucher make this restaurant a must.

Great Indian food. The service was faultless and very courteous. Food which was cooked to perfection, was served graciously and with a smile.
We enjoyed our experience and will certainly return.

Excellent Food, Excellent Service. Onion Bahjii - Never tried before, but will be back for more
Meat Samosa - Absolutely stunning
Chicken Tikka - Brilliant
Lamb Rogan Josh - Always my favourite, but have to say this is the best I've had in Perth
Aloo Gobi - Yum, Yum, Yum
Plain Biryani Rice - Can't go to wrong here and Saffron did not let me down
Paratha - The only let down, not to dissimilar to shop bought.
Service - Service was exceptional.
Deborah Russell
Terrible service. Actually went up and complained that we hadn't been served and they still took another 15 minutes to serve us with no apology

We keep coming back! The food is the best!

Authentic Indian food.. Absolutely delicious... Great service... Highly recommended.
Stevojay
Very highly recommend & friendly staff. We don't eat much Indian but when we do its from here. Chicken korma is the best dish by far, we love the garlic naans as well.
Every dish from here has an authentic traditional Indian taste...

Looking elsewhere. Took advantage of urbanspoon's 50% off food offer to try this restaurant out.
Off to a bad start. On being seated we were told we couldn't BYO wine with the food offer, and they 'thought' it said that on the offer. It didn't.
No worries, we ordered a beer,ok, and a glass of white wine which arrived barely chilled. Tried some staples of indian cuisine,Tandoori chicken was not bad, garlic naan was good with plenty of garlic. For main Vegetable curry was nice, but not outstanding, and Beef Masala. The beef was chewy and not nice at all.Masala sauce was ok.At $21 full price, a fail.
Sorry but there are MANY better indians around.
Lora Harle
Waited for the entree plates to be cleared for more than 45 mins. Slowest service!
Loretta's Kitchen
Excellent food & service. We've been here a few times and it's always been wonderful. This is a great local Indian restaurant. The service is fantastic, food excellent and prices are good.

The garlic naan is one of the best around perth, and if you like your vindaloo extra hot then this is the place for you. I'm a fan of the vegetable curry and it gets two thumbs up from me.

Definitely would recommend this place to anybody.

Went to Saffron last night and had a fantastic meal. Didnt book but felt very welcomed. Staff were lovely and the food was very fresh and flavoursome. We will be back for sure!
Dan
My take-away order was ready except for the onion bhaji - I don't know if they had ever made it before, because after ten more minutes they gave me a bag full of deep fried onion and sent me on my way. Average performance, given they knew I wouldn't see it till I got home.
Christine
Prices up.... Quality Down!. We used to be regulars at this establishment. This is by no means is good Indian food but it is OK for Perth standards (thin kid at fat camp). They used to offer us free delivery for orders over $40 (we live less than 1km away). We were on holiday so we did not order for about 6 weeks.
Upon our return we placed an order for delivery. We were told it wont be free delivery as delivery is only free for orders over $45. Then the man on the phone calculated the bill and realised that it was actually more than $45.
The food quality was not the same as before. The curries were rather deficient when it came to the quality and quantity of the meat in the dishes. The chicken was fatty and gristly. The Korma was rather watery and it tasted very sweet, like it was cooked in syrup. The biriyani was essentially rice flavored with chicken as there was hardly any chicken to be seen. We did not raise the issue with the establishment as we thought the kitchen had an off night (and it was really late by the time we got around to eating it).

We decided to order again after one week as we were loyal customers. We were surprised when we were told that the curries were now a dollar extra and there was no free delivery. We told them we wont be ordering from them again. They did not seem concerned.

The price is not really the issue but the principle is. Saffron is a victim of its own success. This food would be considered average at best in Melbourne or Sydney. But I guess it says something about the quality of the subcontinental cuisine in Perth, when a restaurant such as this can drop their quality and service but still increase the prices. We have spent many hundreds of $$$ at this establishment but we feel like their modest success in Perth has lead them to drop their standards and yet still focus on maximizing their revenue.
We long for the day when there is an Indian restaurant in Perth that can do justice to the cuisine it claims to serve.

Pollyanna. We got the butter chicken takeaway the other night for about 20 people...... Everyone raved about how lovely it was. The meat was beautifully lean , and the sauce was sublime. Everyone wanted to know where the restaurant was ,so they could go for a meal and check out their other dishes!

Wish I lived nearby! (I'm in Woodbridge), I would be there at least once a week!
They have a great variety of vegetarian and non veg dishes, my favourite so far would be the chicken Jalfrezi, I'm pining after it......

Great Indian. We have been there twice in the last month. Left both times after eating the most amazing food and thinking there was a mistake in the bill!!!!!!! It is just fantastic value. The service is relaxed and friendly. We will definitely be back.
Highly recommend a visit.
The lamb korma is a knock out and the malai paneer (might have to check the spelling on that one) is to die for.

A tidy Indian!. Can't really complain much about this one. Nice place , nice staff and and most importantly nice food.

One of the things I look for most in a curry is of course the flavour but also the quality of meat. There is nothing worse than a gristle rogan josh. You needn't worry in this place, its great.

The last time we went it was a friday night in the middle of summer and the waitress led us through a maze of rooms to a court yard at the back. It was such a great spot to sit and enjoy some great food.

Whilst the waiting staff were very nice they were a little slow on the uptake as far as empty glasses were concerned. If you ask me to, I WILL drink more beer!

All in all 8/10

My partner and I are big Indian fans. We have eaten at a lot of different Indian restaurants around Perth. Although this wasn't the best, it was definitely up there with the best. Good job Saffron! Would definitely recommend.

A local favourite. The lovely and friendly staff, along with the good food, makes us keep coming back for more. The vegetarian kofta balls and dahl are particular favourites.

Best Indian in Perth. Great food, reliable and friendly service at a reasonable price. Lots of variety on menu. We have returned time and time again and are yet to be disappointed! Fully reccommend!
Rosie
Good food. We went on a Saturday night and the place was practically full. It also does a very busy take away trade and the constant ringing of the phone is quite annoying, while the bright lights and zero atmosphere mean that this is definitely not the place for a romantic dinner!
The food is however very good and the menu extensive. We had the mixed entree and a lamb and a prawn dish (can't remember the names and the receipt didn't list our choices). We also had a garlic naan, roti and steamed rice. The food was all very tasty, however, we didn't got anywhere near finishing it & the waiter offered to package it up for us to take home.
We had a Matso's beer to start and the whole thing came to $92, which we thought was pretty good value. (It is licensed but you can also BYOB).

Love this place. We have been here half a dozen times - always friendly service which for me counts for a lot these days! Food is always delightful BYO which is a big plus compared to another Indian restaurant up the road which charges $4.50 for corkage per bottle! Always leave with left overs and enjoy everything we have tried thus far - highly recommend!

One last try (for the third time). Saffron used to be my regular, i used to go every week. if we didnt go for a couple of weeks the waiters would always ask where we had been. i recommended this place to countless friends and workmates. this was two years ago. about a year ago things started going downhill, mainly because the staff seemed to be overworked. my family stopped wanting to go after the service became awful and the food was unreliable in terms of quality. we tried again a couple of times and it wasnt up to scratch. friends started telling us that they were having negative experiences too. last night we had booked for 6:30 for my birthday dinner. we were the first ones there, said our names and took a seat near the window. on the windowsill there were ripped up bits of paper and dirty rings from glasses, no biggie i gave one of the waitresses the paper and asked for a sponge to clean away the dirty marks.

we settled in and were working out our orders when another waitress came over and asked our names again. she then told us that the table was booked for someone else in an hour and we had to move (there was no sign on the table and we had given the name of our booking, had the area cleaned and were ready to order). we refused to move and said that we should be gone by then anyway. the girl seemed nervous and kept trying to get us to move.

we had fantastic, but overly salty, onion baaji for starters. when the mains came out one was wrong so it was re-done...no big deal. the rice was perfect and the naan was nice. i had the chicken tikka, unfortunately it didnt seem to have been cut or cleaned at all. every bite was full of gristle and other awful bits. less than half way through i got sick of trying to cut all the bad bits off then having to spit most of it out anyway and gave up. i understand it would have saved the chef prep time but this was terrible. the lamb was also tough and my grandmother tried to chew it for quite some time before having to spit it out.

my grandfather went to pay and the waitress was apologetic about the chicken and said next time they will try to do it right. it should ALWAYS be done right, no excuses, and there will be no next time.

on the upside: we were long gone before the next booking...and this time we will stay gone.

Fantastic atmosphere and service. Only slight hiccup was the waiter forgetting about our paratha, which came quickly after a friendly reminder. The food was sublime and definitely worth the price.

Went to the saffron last night with a group of 9 guys and we all loved it.
We started with the mixed starter of onion bhaji ,chicken tika, samosas also shish kebab you would think a wild pack of dogs had passed right over our table all gone in a few mins.
We all had different meals I had the chicken masala it was stunning not a drop left in the dish and it was a great size even for this fat Scotsman .All the other guys loved theirs too .
Two garlic nanns,2 Kashmir ,1 plain all gone the stunning looking girl that served us could not believe her eyes that we had eaten that .

Couple of small things no coffee what !!!no coffee and ran out of beer lucky for me I hate coffee and I drink cider.

Great place for a meal super staff we will be back soon.

If you like Indian food then you will love this place. Great atmosphere. Family friendly but still great for a couple. Highly recommend.

Very Disappointed. The Butter Chicken was sickly sweet and inedible. The Chicken Jalfrezi which we asked for hotter than the advertised Mild/Medium was totally devoid of flavour and heat
Kristi
Wow!!! Bloody good Indian!!! And it delivers....

Dont tell anyone how good it is. I don't want them to be too busy that my orders are not delivered on time and so yummy....sssh lets keep this place quiet

Tasty. Great Indian Restaurant. We usually order take out but have dined in also. We have never had a disappointing meal from here, the food is always tasty, good quality and keeps us coming back for more. Too many good dishes to recommend one in particular. The service is generally friendly and 'not too in your face'. Relaxed vibe when dinning in but still has a restaurant feel, good for a group of friends or a couple.

Tasty and great service. We wanted to try somewhere new and this looked like a good bet - with such positive reviews. We weren't disappointed. Staff were attentive and accommodating. Food was tasty, if somewhat rich. We had the mushroom curry and the black lentil dhal, as well as onion bhaji to start and accompanied the mains with delightfully well prepared 'plain biryani' and some chilli & garlic naan. There was a great abundance of the bhaji - perhaps a little too much! There's a new outdoor area at the back where it would be good to dine on a summer evening with friends. We intend to be back to do just that! Feb 2016: We went there again recently and the food was again delicious - even better than last time. Great service. Good prices. They also seem to have improved the decor inside, though we were disappointed that the outdoor area at the back wasn't open as it was a warm evening.

Yummy food at reasonable prices. Butter chicken was fantastic. Vindaloo lamb was a bit chewy but flavour was nice. Was quite spicy for us and we like chilli... Friendly waitstaff and good service esp with them being one staff down. Could have dimmer lighting as was very bright in there.
Fooodmachine
Lovely dining experience. Staff were really sweet, good atmosphere, decent prices, food was delicious (but probably a bit too oily) curries were flavoursome with soft tender meats. kashmiri naan was surprisingly good with the curry. will be back!

Always great, frequently Fantastic!. Its on our regular list as we can walk in (as long as its just the two of us). We are a Mexican and an Aussie and we are not afraid of chillies, however we prefer flavour to heat given the choice. Indian food as with any other spicey food is not just about heat. There are more spices in existence than chillie! If you want heat order the hot dishes and ask for them to be extra hot if you really want to feel the burn. If you just want some really spicey flavoursome food order almost anything on the menu. We always try to have something different but love the sizzling and the flavour of the tandoorie chicken. We always get pretty fast service- except when we had a large table of friends, I recall it being a bit slow that night but it was very busy. I have eaten all over the world and at my Indian friends house. She is a great cook, but dont tell her that Saffron is better. We will keep going back.
Dineatnite
Indian at half the price. This is a great restaurant, the curry is great and you get a load.
Try their most requested entree - you won't be disappointed, especially with their tandoori chicken.
Plus they may not be speedy in service, but they try their best and they are friendly and helpful.
I love coming here - hats off!
Don't bag this place its the best in Inglewood and Mount Lawley if you count value for money and no pretence.
Gbug
Very poor, unauthentic curries. A big disappointment after the rave reviews on here. The mixed starter plate was decent but the curries were the worst I've had in Australia and in the top 5 worst I've had in the world - and I've eaten a lot of sub-continent style curries in a lot of countries!

People on here say it is authentic but nothing could be further from the truth - this is curry at its most bastardised for the Australian market - the chicken sag was way, way too buttery, did not taste of any spices at all and bizarrely used tandoori chicken pieces. The lamb in lentils also was way, way too buttery and did not taste of anything else.

Both were allegedly "medium spiced" (with only vindaloo coming in as "hot") but basically just tasted of butter. If I ordered butter chicken then kind of ok. But I didn't.

Very disappointing.
Deadly Smedley
Well above the rest. With the plethora of below par Indian Restaurants around now, it was refreshing to dine here late on Sunday evening. Clearly the team here are really putting their hearts into the food. It was not a speedy place but suspect this was because menu items were being prepared lovingly.
The Lamb Korma was exactly how it should be with the curry being mild and creamy. My friend was enraptured with the Vindaloo dish which was rich and spicy. The Naan Bread we were told was baked using a Tandoori Oven, but it was on the skinny side.
The Wine List looked to be a work in progress but with some tweaking it too will be as good as everything else here. This Indian Restaurant deserves every success on their efforts to date as a lot of the saturated competition is an embarrassment to Indian cuisine.

Lovely food! Just moved around the corner an cant wait to make it a regular dinner spot!
Laura
Great food and service... Was a bit sceptic when we were the only couple in the place... But food was amazing, and big serves compared to a lot of the other places I've been! Definitely go again!

They take a little time to serve, but if you are a bunch who don't mind having chat and want to enjoy a leisure dinner then it's a really good thought to be there. Being a veggie, i can only review the vegetarian side of the menu, the samosas were ok with nice chutney. Palak paneers were nice. Rotis, Naans were made quite neat. Fruit juices didn't seem so natural. Overall, it can be a simple pleasant place to dine in.
Customer service not so good.
