Review Thirty Seven Cafe - Ipswich

Roel Tenorio
Had morning breakfast here last Sunday. Very friendly and attentive staff. We ordered eggs Benedict and a hamburger with sweet potato fries. Beautiful and generous meals. The eggs were poached perfectly without any stringy bits. The place had a warm atmosphere with plenty of seating. Parking was a bit limited at the back but there is ample street parking. Definitely coming back here 😊

As a long returning customer, im disappointed. We went out for breakfast this morning and everything was normal. Our food was served promptly, however I decided I wanted a touch of salt. Used the provided cracker and WITHOUT even cracking it once the lid fell off and unloaded a whole cracker full of salt over my plate, on inspection the lid was broken. I brought it up to staff, then even tried just scraping it off, but it was hardly salvageable. I asked for a new plate and the staff member just brought me out a clean plate??? Why? At no point did they acknowledge blame for their dodgy salt cracker OR offer me a replacement. What can I say? there are plenty of other cafes in Ipswich and I doubt I'll be returning anytime soon. Poor service. Disappointing way to start a weekend.

Vietnamese fusion cafe. Modern contemporary decor housed in a renovated cottage in Bundamba with open plan seating. Their menu offers all your favorites like Eggs Benny, Classic big breakfast, toasted sandwiches, fish burgers, pork sliders plus Asian classic flavors like Banh Mi and Pho in winter. Good Vegetarian options too. In summer I love to buy a sweet Vietnamese coffee over ice. Always fast friendly consistent service and quality. Merlo coffee. We shared a toasted sandwich for brunch because it was so large. Portions are generous here! Followed this with a selection of cakes from the cabinet. The carrot cake was so big it had to be taken home. Thirty - Seven has maintained and delivered the same standard of fresh quality food and service since opening. One of my regular breakfast stops in Ipswich. Did I mention it's so reasonably priced you can shout your grandma!

Very nice cappuccino and breakfast burger. The burger was large and generous with bacon. Looks neat so the staff are vigilant with clearing and cleaning tables. Cold water served with my meal. Cute little veranda with ramp access.

For $17.50 the Vietnamese Salad is very small and doesn't have many noodles. Also the noodles were hot which is not normal for a salad. The sauce was very small too. Any Vietnamese restaurant in Brisbane is better than this cafe. There are better value cafes in Ipswich.

Very nice, excellent service, lovely coffee and the meal was lovely, I enjoyed using the chopsticks to eat, took a while though, admittedly. You don't have to use the chopsticks, just in case it puts someone off. Pricing is pretty much on target for meals and coffee. Menu is reasonably limited, but some regular breaky favourites are in there. Thanks, I enjoyed my meal tremendously, I'll be back!

This place continues to go downhill and it's the front staff taking orders every time that stuff it up. Asked for a large flat white today, get handed a regular with an extra shot made warm? When I show my credit card transaction and go that's not what I paid for, the prices don't line up, I get an order docket waved in my face with the barista going "that's what it says, that's what it says!" Like, how do you screw up taking an order that badly? This isn't an isolated incident for me, I stopped coming here for about a year because it was on the decline with my orders coming out all wonky. Good to see it hasn't hit rock bottom and were still approaching escape velocity. The only time it goes smoothly is when I'm served by the owners (who are great, but clearly have a vested interest in quality).

We have enjoyed the occasional coffee here but yesterday was the first time we came for breakfast. Well without a doubt we will be back. The drinks and food came out very quickly and was all wonderful. Hubby insists it was the best avocado smash he’s ever had. The kids devoured their bacon and eggs and I had the breakfast burger with chilli jam and it was amazing. Thank you for the lovely service and amazing food

The staff are always very friendly when I have been here for breakfast. The service and the food is always of a high standard and you are never waiting long for your food. I would recommend to anyone to go and experience the food and service.

This place is over priced for food that is extremely average. Charges $4 for mushrooms that clearly come from a can, even though the menu states they use fresh ingredients. All the food was bland, the coffee is average and I asked for an extra cup for my long black as it was hot and leaking, they refused. We won’t be coming back nor would I recommend this place to anyone.

First time eating here with my parents. Had two fish burgers and eggs Benedict with salmon. Food was good enough but it was overpriced. In total cost $67 for 3 meals and 3 drinks. $6 for a milkshake served in a tiny jar. Fish burgers were dry due to very little tartar sauce. Chips were average with no salt. I was told the coffee was good. Would not return

First visit Saturday. So much food on the breakfast platter, 3 of us couldn’t get through it. Great coffee, friendly service and home made potato scallops. For a Cafe on a busy road it’s really a nice place for a family feed.

Upon walking in my partners son decided to stick his hand into a random cup on a table just to fish the ice out. One of the staff members noticed and very quickly took away the cup and immediately brought out a fresh cup of ice for him. The food and drinks came out quickly. Coffee was bloody brilliant. The bacon was perfect temperature and perfectly crispy, our fussy little eater ate his entire toastie, and the fish burger was honestly SO good!! I’m upset I don’t live in the area!

This place is a favourite for me every time I visit my mum from Melbourne. They have the best bahn-mi and delicious drinks (my favourite is the iced matcha). Their spring rolls are pretty great too. Always the loveliest service too.

My brother didn’t pass on the message that i’m allergic to chilli, and my meal came out with chilli as a garnish, but staff were happy to make me another without the garnish. Very nice place, and the big breakfast was huge! Coffee was ok (but my brother ordered the wrong one 🙄) and i’m sure the correct one would have been brilliant

I had lunch with my Mum there yesterday. We both LOVED it. We thought the food was absolutely delicious, fresh with large portion sizes and was served with a lovely presentation. The staff are an attentive, sweet, hard working and time efficient bunch! The prices reasonable. The decor, funky! Thank you very much for the experience. We will be returning for sure and spreading the word. This place needs a rather cosmopolitan café around! K

Great eggs, deep fried then reheated warm bacon?? Lukewarm coffee, I hope they were just having an off day but who does bacon like that??
Monique Morgan
Friendly staff, consistently great service and the best traditional style iced coffee I've had in a long time. 5 stars :)

Lovely staff but totally over rated food... didn't finish it. Below average. On the up side .... partner said at least the coffee was good.

The best sweet potato chips I have ever had. You must try them for yourself. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Very disappointed with my experience this morning with my family. Food was nice which was good but milkshake was flavourless and tasted horrid, was not chocolate. Asked for another shake and she said no and asked for another $6 from me, unsatisfied with their efforts for treating their customers with the best and making sure they are happy.

This place looks nice the coffee is acceptable. But when told by who i can only assume is the owner told us that all food is made in house then to receive a chicken bahmi that had chicken on it so processed Macdonalds would be ashamed of it, then when we tried to return the dish to be told it is that we are wrong, (i have been a professional cook for 14yrs) and if we cant afford to eat out we shouldn't have gone there...and the waitstaff were both under 11yrs of age. So the negatives are 1. The owners are abusive and rude 2. The food is the cheapest frozen crap you can put on a plate. 3. The owners lie to yor face and claim that it is made in house. The positives are.. 1. Coffee was ok 2. The fit out is nice 3. The very young and illegal wait staff were very polite and efficient

Came because we heard u were great! Mum thouroughly enjoyed her pho as did my daughter her burger.

My big breakfast was dry and seemed pre cooked which is odd for eggs and bacon as they cook quickly!

Asked for mayo was told we don’t have any. They put mayo on their burgers lol! They didn’t have worcestshire either, so over all ruined the experience as my food was lukewarm and dry.

This is given in the hope you will improve and continue to serve the Ipswich community. At least 3 staff would improve customer satisfaction as the young lady was run off her feet and her attitude showed that, I felt sad for her as she is very young and probably her first job.

Had brekkie there last week with a friend. It’s a cute little cafe with a nice set-up and atmosphere. The food was average. I would go there again.

Excellent cafe that is consistent with their food and coffee. I frequent here most weeks as the food and coffee is great and the staff and super friendly

The cafe is tastefully decorated with a clean and simple feel. The original old stove is a perfect feature at the heart of the cafe. You can sit indoors or outdoors, including on the deck to the side of the building.

Once we realised we had to order at the counter, we did so and the food and drinks arrived promptly.

I had the avocado on sourdough with feta, rocket, balsamic reduction and lemon. It was exactly what I had hoped for, and was affordable. My dining buddy had the big breakfast which was nice enough but underwhelming. The biggest let downs were the baked beans (just from a tin) and potato scallop (just the classic frozen kind).

Coffee (Merlo) and chai latte where lovely.

The service was friendly, but could have been more cheerful, or added extra touches such as offer cracked pepper, or check if everything with our meals was ok.

I would love to come back for lunch as the menu had some delicious looking lunch options!

Trendy little store, loved the coffee and the food was cooked to perfection, a little crowded when we went. Would like to see more smiles behind the counter

Been feeling for waffles/pancakes the past several days but never got around to it - Thirty Seven Cafe was on my bookmarked list and scrolling through their photos, their waffles looked appetising. So I decided to make my way there :)
(It was further than I anticipated...)

Making my arrival here around 9:30am, the place was partially full (inside and outside seatings). I took a seat inside near the windows and was presented with menus and water. Flipping back and forth, I was contemplating if I should get the Avocado&Feta or the Waffles. The more I looked at the menu the longer it took me to decide. At last I went with their Avocado&Feta and a Flat White coffee.

The coffee came and the froth seemed smooth. However, the coffee wasn't hot enough (just about warm) and the brew wasn't strong either for me. That's okay, because to compensate that it was nice and relaxing to watch the world go by whilst sipping on my flat white :) My main was finally on the table - looked nice and simple. Took a bit of strength to cut into the toast, maybe next time I should use my hands instead. The BBQ sauce gave an interesting taste to the dish.

Now, I realised I was half full and to be honest I still had my eyes on the waffles... so I went to grab the waffles as well 😬 The dish came 10 mins later - I love a dish with colours, as per taste? It was just too sweet for me. The waffles were soaked into maple syrup and I had to flip it over to remove the excess. The dish itself only consisted of 1 waffle cut into 3 pieces. Therefore, I did not think it was worth the price I paid for. The fruits were a refreshing touch though :)

To sum up, it was a relaxing experience despite the unexpected long drive. Friendly staff :)

Easter brekky date!

Other half picked our cafe this morning. This is our second time here however, the first was a quick coffee stop. This time - it was all about FOOD!

Food - scrambled eggs on toast with haloumi, avocado and potato cakes. My eggs were quite nice, the sourdough was good too but it wasn't very well toasted (if it was toasted at all). The avocados weren't quite ripe yet and the potato cakes were a little on the heavy side. I was expecting potato hash of some kind but it was potato scallops. Everyone who knows me knows that I am a haloumi fiend. For the first time ever, I did not enjoy my haloumi. It had a strange taste/texture that was far from enjoyable. So I handballed it over to the other half to finish - we hate food being wasted!

Coffee - my usual mocha. It was delicious! Merlo coffee beans I find to be really strong so I tend to ask for extra chocolate sometimes depending on the number of shots in a mug. There are 1.5 shots of coffee in their mug and it was perfectly balanced with the chocolate. Smooth and delicious.

Despite not being blown away by my brekky this morning, I will definitely be back to try their waffles and brekky platter for 2!

Ive had the pleasure of enjoying great takeaway coffee from Thirty Seven Cafe but today was the day I enjoyed a breakfast and coffee from this Vietnamese twist cafe.

Very bustling on arrival and suprised to find an available seat. They offer one of my favourite coffee's which is Merlo, and it was just as if not more amazing then the takeaway coffee. I had the eggs on toast with extras of - Tomato, Mushrooms, Haloumi, Avocado and Baked beans, the mushrooms tasted very good and had alot of flavour, I was extremely pleased with the Tomatoes, not only were they bursting with flavour but the size of the these Tomatoes were spectacular, I've never been served brekky with tomatoes the size these were. Both coffee's and mains arrived quick and tasted great, only down side was the Haloumi which was tastless and inedible by my partner- so I ate it hers and mine, the Avocado wasn't ripe yet and it wasn't as spreadable as I'd liked it to be for my toast- such minor things but that aside a fantastic experience and a must for anyone driving out that way for both takeaway or eat in meal. I'll definitely be returning.

In Bundamba, five minutes out of Ipswich, Thirty Seven Café is well worth a visit. Owner operators Anh and Hien are charming hosts and the café is spotless. Blending their Vietnamese culture with Aussie favourites, the menu is divided into the source of the food: From the Grain, From the Chicken, From the Pig, From the Cow, From the Farm, From the Garden and From the Sea. There are lots of vegetarian and gluten-free options clearly marked, as well as a few traditional Vietnamese items, to which we gravitate. As pho in on the winter menu, we choose a traditional Bahn Mi and Spring rolls, served with Nuoc Cham sauce and lettuce leaves for wrapping (by request), washed down with a good Merlo and a Viet iced coffee. We’d love to try the lychee tea another time. Anh tells us that she’s a boat person who came to Australia 10 years ago, spending four years interned in a camp in Malaysia on the way. While the pain of the journey is obvious, she is eternally grateful that her whole family (her parents and their eight children) arrived in Australia safely, each one now either in a profession or their own business. There’s a quiet deck at the side of the café under the shade of a fig tree. With such congenial service and interesting food, Thirty Seven Café is the perfect place to stop on the Brisbane-Ipswich journey.

My husband and I had lunch here today and thoroughly enjoyed it! The service was fast and the food was amazing!! So glad we popped in 😊The coconut bay drink was delightful and oh so refreshing, I could have drunk about 4 of them.
