Review 116 Laneway - Ipswich

Zia Rahim
Ok so this place is our most favorite. I'll let my photos speak for themselves. If you are on the lookout for the best milkshake in town than 116 laneway is the place to be. There is a slight wait on these shakes but who wouldn't wanna wait for them. Now the Fish and chips are pretty amazing. That salad tho. And while u are there pop over to Ipswich art Gallery which is literally next door. Perfect outing for the Lil ones and young at heart.

Milkshakes look amazing! Very well priced and great quality coffee. The breakfasts looked really good and will be back to try them next time.

Great, quick service, delicious breakfast menu and fantastic tasting coffee. Milkshakes are next on the list.

Food was amazing and we all had a fabulous breakfast. Kids enjoyed the sugar, adults enjoyed the sugar, carbs and caffeine. Seating around the back by the gallery entrance was quite nice with plenty of tables varying in size spread out. Great atmosphere. We can't wait to come back.

Service was a little slow. The milkshakes that brought us there were actually decent and nice to look out. I would try them on an empty stomach and on a day you wont feel guilty about the calories.

Tough one. First time we went food was great, milkshake was good. Coffee was just ok. We went back for the food a 2nd time. Was a warm day and the bins are obviously not cleaned or emptied regularly enough. Plus they walk your food directly past the stinking fly swarmed bins. We didn't eat. Fix that problem and gain customers.

Food was nice bit very small portions with half of the menu unavailable. Came to experience the hype of their milkshakes to wait to receive them well after finishing our meals. Luckily the kids loved the shakes or it would have been a disappointing birthday treat for my daughter

Would have been a 5 star rating if not for the horrible attitude of the waitress. Felt very unwelcome and other customers received even worse service and attitude. Such a shame one woman can ruin the entire vibe of such a beautiful wee cafe and after reading the reviews clearly this is not a once off.

Fabulous cafe. Great location. Our group of 11 were well looked after this morning for a family breakfast at this cafe. The staff were charming, efficient and couldn't do enough for us. Staff 10 out 10. Food excellent we all enjoyed what we had ordered. The coffee/hot chocolates were steaming hot, just what was needed on this very cold and windy day. We can thoroughly recommend this cafe . Will be returning very soon. Great place to seat and relax with friends. What a gem for Ipswich. I would like to recommend to the owners that a children's menu be greatly appreciated. As we had 4 young children with us today and there was no child's menu to choose from, but that will not stop us from visiting again in the near future.

Went there the other day with my son and his girlfriend. What a gorgeous trendy little place. Absolutely love the vibe. The marshamallow overload was to die for and the oreo iced chocolate was as my son the best iced chocolate he has ever had. Love the blankets on the chairs and found it came in very handy as it started to get a little chilly while we were there. the service was very friendly, and quick... will definitely be coming back to this little gem... Well done on such a trendy little place.. Love it.

I liked what I had seen at first but then couldn't order what I wanted yep ok so one of the appliances broke down yes it happens ! Ordered a caramel milkshake with a donut on top at yep it looked quite nice love caramel well for $13 the donut was stale and the milkshake itself was like water and no it wasn't the amount of caramel on the plate ,nice spot but it needs to be looked at over priced milkshake and what ever else yep won't be back 😳😖😭

I took the kids about 4 weeks ago to get one of the milkshakes and it was great. Decided to take them back yesterday for a treat and I nearly died $52 for 4 shakes, so in a matter of 4 weeks they have upped the price of each milkshake by $4, they were $9 each now they are $13. When you are taking the family for a treat that is a bit rich

First time we have visited this very trendy and up market coffee shop! Really enjoyed ourselves. The coffee was great as was the amazing strawberry muffin that I ordered. Thank you 116 Laneway! You are really unique!

Enjoyed a Reuben bagel at lunch today, washed down with a glass of Pinot Grigio (only $5). lovely setting for a catchup with friends. Loved Sunday breakfast here under the trees a couple of weeks ago. Lovely service and good prices

The Laneway crew are always inviting not just for me but also my Toy Dog Henry. He loves his bowl of water from the girls...while I love a hearty breakfast washed down with some amazing drink from the menu. Thanks Laneway...I spend more time here at 116 now than I do at 1116 4BC.

Extremely disappointed. We go online and check the opening hours, it says open until 2pm. (Which by the way is what it says in their menus). When we get there a handwritten sign out front says close at 1:30pm. When we go to order the milkshakes at 1:07pm we are told they stop selling the milkshakes at 1:00pm and point to a small sign below the counter. And the lady I spoke to was rude. I can see why they have a number of low rating for bad service.....

Poor Customer Service!!! I only have 30mins work break for lunch. I ordered a simple salad. Surprise..surprise! They've taken not only my 30mins break but additional 10mins of my day on waiting for my "Salad" to arrive. How much more if I ordered a hot food that requires cooking? Is it worth the wait? NO, the taste was average and the worst was, they gave a little amount of salad, it couldn't justify the price I paid for and the time I've wasted.

Wandered into The Laneway with pooch & a couple of friends in tow. We were delighted by the colourful array of plants both real & plastic & the retro seating. Bright, colourful chairs & stools completed the picture book look. The coffee was also a winner, I ordered a double shot flat white & it came out perfectly presented with a pretty daisy on the top. My friends cappuccino was the same, but the daisy was done with piped chocolate & looked so cool. Flavorwise the coffee was spot on. Thanks for the review MB & it was pet friendly too

Brekky date! MB's choice this week and what a find! It is cafés like 116 Laneway, that we search for every week. A very hipster, earthy cafe found in the older part of Ipswich CBD.

The menu is great - simple and fresh dishes with plenty of coffee, milkshake/smoothie, tea and juice options to pick from. For me, I ordered the Croque Madam with a side of haloumi. 116 Laneway's version of a croque madam is served like an open sandwich rather than the traditional 'toastie'. It came served a wonderful chutney and very light drizzle of oil. It was delicious! The portion at first seemed a little small but it was a comfortable size. My eggs were a little over cooked, my yolk wasn't as runny as I would have liked and my bread wasn't as toasted as I would have liked. With that said, they were only minor setbacks and my brekky was freaken delicious!

I ordered my usual coffee and I asked for their largest size - a bowl! My coffee was exactly how I like it, chocolatey goodness with a smooth coffee taste following through. For all your milkshake lovers - 116 Laneways milkshakes definitely bring all the boys to the yard! Although I didn't order one - every person that came after us did and they look delectable. Definitely on my must have list when I go back!

Prices were great and definitely somewhere I would visit again and again. Definitely recommend!

Ipswich continues to shock me with places like this, another place I didn't expect to find here but so glad i did. 116 laneway is well hidden and one of the blink and you miss it places. With two entrances we came through the back and went around the corner to just a magnificent sight, this redeveloped laneway is a great hub for all ages, well catered to kids also it has a cute little kids area so the parents can enjoy some peace and quiet haha they have the perfect combination of flourishing plants and a unique mixer of furniture to lighten this wonderful little cafe up, all this together makes for a relaxing start to the morning.

Now the Coffee and food, these guys have bowls! So if you like your coffee in a massive mug then go for the bowl, with it already coming with 4 shots I didnt have to make any changes to my coffee order, good coffee. The food puts the cherry on top, I ordered the breakfast board, I thoroughly enjoyed this but the standout was the Bacon that just melted in my mouth, now ive had good bacon but this awesome, crispy with fat that just melted, the Avocado didnt have alot of flavour to it and the Feta had little salt in it and smooth great taste. Im definitely returning.

The worst service I've ever experienced. The young lady who served us made A SERIES of errors on our order, tried to take away our table number when we hadn't been served anything, and then was rude to my children! There is a kids area, so I thought it would be child friendly, but wow. My kids were trying to watch as staff cooked things in the kitchen but this rude staff member told them to move along (by flapping her arms at them, like they were ibis). They walked near a second time and she screeched at them! NEVER again. This staff member should be fired. I'm happy to provide further details to any management that read this.

I came here for breakfast last Sunday first time. My personal opinion. Meals & drinks are a reasonable price. Staff friendly. Good vibes & a place to chill out. The cafe played acoustic versions of songs which was really relaxing. Food really presentable & tasty. Would come back again. Images: Zuchinni Fritters & 2 x Milkshakes.

Enjoyed a leisurely Sunday brekky under the trees behind Indian Mehfil today in the new Laneway 116 cafe. Took the Sunday papers with us and started with a good flat white. From a very well priced menu I chose the Housemade beans with sourdough, ham and poached eggs. Tasty beans arrived in a little cast iron pot, topped with 2 big soft poached eggs, a slice of ham and buttered crunchy sourdough. Hubbys big board breakfast was a feast of bacon, eggs, feta, avo, sourdough and he added a side of wonderfully smokey mushrooms. we will be going again next Sunday with visitors from Toowoomba. Also want to visit for lunch under the trees with a glass of house Sav Blanc for only $5.

A pleasant spot for some great coffee. Seriously nice coffee. Also enjoyed a beautiful breakfast of perfectly poached eggs with bacon, avocardo, fetta, roast tomato and sourdough toast. Went the extra mushrooms and what a treat they were with a lovely smoky flavour. Most enjoyable would be happy to return again.
