Review Yamanto Tavern - Ipswich

DAMN Beauty / Dustyn McNichol
Desserts were $10 and delicious, we had the poached pear (needed a bit more poaching but tasty all the same) and the creme brulee (yum). The weekly special was a fish dish with pea puree, it was nice but seemed to be lacking something just not quite sure what. The boys were happy with their steaks, my in laws happy with their fisherman's basket style meal, my nephew happy with his chicken king avocado dish, and the kids loved their burger kids meal and nuggets kid meal (usually they don't eat as much of it!) With their chocolate frog in a jelly pond dessert they were stoked. The fruit tingle cocktail was delicious. I will say just one thing non food related - the automatic doors right nearby had us all wishing we were dressed for sitting outside as, with a massive 13th party booked outside, they were opening and shutting constantly and it was COLD. I don't know if there are heaters for the outside booking but wow the breeze coming in constantly at the doors was awfully chilly and not ideal for our baby and I. Kids didn't get to go to the playground as it was too cold but it looks amazing. Staff were lovely also and plenty of parking. We were placed a couple of steps up however so with the pram had to carry it up, I'm sure wheelchair access would remain on the lower seating. Thanks Yamanto!

We had our Christmas Function at Yamanto Tavern last year and had an amazing time. The chefs were very accommodating with dietary restrictions and the food was amazing. The events staff even decorated the area for us and bar staff were fantastic. 2 months on and everyone in the office is still talking about what a great night it was. Will definitely book again.

Very nice Seniors steak, chips and salad, the only thing we all agreed needing work is their online ordering app. It's slower than ordering at the bar and they've no idea who's meal they're bringing to the table. Why they don't I've no idea when they get your name as you order, but the food was very good.

Love the yamanto tavern! Great food at reasonable prices and incredible cocktails. (Cocktails are a little pricey though I feel). I love the staff - super friendly. Very prompt at service and food orders. Huge playground outside for the kids to enjoy just can not access it while raining - it seems to be closed. I have a 2 and 9 year old that it keeps entertained. Great kids menu! πŸ‘ This place will always be one of my favourite go to's!

Highly recommend this place. Kian was incredibly helpful with fixing a table we booked and moving me and my family to a table more suited to our preference. She also provided us with exceptional customer service. After we enjoyed our perfectly cooked meals, we got cold and requested the gas heater be turned on. Leah went to turn it on for us and found the gas was empty. She then went out of her way to take the empty gas bottle across the road to exchange it for a new one, paying out of her own pocket just to ensure our family was warm. We were gobsmacked. Well done Kian, Leah and Yamanto Tavern. You guys are top notch and made our experience absolutely exceptional.

The worst dining experience of our lives. We booked a table in Alehouse, when we arrived for our booking the table was not clean or wiped down, there were no chairs at our table and there was only 2 sets of cutlery for our table of 6. It took us half an hour to get served to get our first drinks. Your staff member Jenny was extremely rude and unwelcoming and we had to go to the gaming area to get our table and cutlery sorted. There was a tab run for our table and we spent alot of money, when the entree of oysters Kilpatrick came out they weren't cooked at all and were gooey and swimming in sauce. No-one wanted to eat them they were disgusting. Over an hour later when our mains finally came, we ordered 4 rib on the bones and not one of them was cooked correctly. One of them was extremely dry and chewy, there was no creamy garlic sauce that came with the prawn topper, we asked for all toppers on the side and they weren't apart from one. drink service was incredibly slow all night and the wait times for a drink were ridiculous. If I could put a rating of zero stars I would. Our father took us out and bought dinner for us all and we actually felt bad that he paid for any of what we recieved and such bad service

If I could eat here everyday I would haha, honestly the most surprising place we've been to the servings are massive (Enough for an Islander). Even though we've only been here twice both time's we were not disappointed. The staff are great and the selections on beers ect on tap is great also. Highly recommend if you want to be full when you leave 😊 sorry I forgot to take photos of our meals πŸ˜‚

I mean, were dealing with a pub out the back of Ipswich... Full points for trying!
They surprised me with their beer selection; better than expected, given the locale.

Went to Yamanto Tavern for dinner, the food was alright. I had the baked Barra with chips, the garlic sauce didn't have much flavour but the fish was nicely cooked. Service was extremely slow, waited 45mins for our meals. Staff seemed very rushed.

For only the second time ever in my life I have asked for a refund because service or food quality was totally unacceptable. The assistant manager instead of handling the situation from a customer service perspective became intimidating. I was not expecting fantastic service or good food when i arrived as I have been here before, i know it's just another 'woolies' tavern. Today's experience was so 'off the planet' I need to warn others.

Disappointed. Went for my birthday dinner. Lucky I had a family yo enjoy because the food was mediocre to say the least our wait time was over an hour not what the manager said. I would expect the manager to stick for his staff but to lie to a customer to cover mistakes is a disgrace. And if you choose to change nothing at least change the the salad it look like someone has thrown up on your plate disgusting.

Have eaten here for lunch several times. The food is always nice but the service can be a little slow.

Expensive for what it is and ordinary service- don't bother for breakfast. We were the only ones in the place for breakfast and the service was terrible. We were treated like an inconvenience by the female staff. Meals were expensive for what we got and being the only ones in the restaurant, we were pretty cranky that our meal took 40 mins to make... Don't bother, we won't be again

Bleh. 24$ for "pork ramen" with stir fry noodles, carrot and corn (no beansprouts as described) tasteless unappetizing pork and a nauseous feeling. Sad, when a tasty, filling good quality gourmet burger can run you only half the price.

Long wait for food and disappointing when it arrived. I have to start by saying I am definitely not a food critic but do appreciate a meal with flavour.
I ordered the steak (cooked medium) and the wife ordered the swordfish at approx 6:15.
The meal arrived around 7:00 and looked quite good. Turns out looks can be deceiving and my medium steak was over well done on one end and medium on the other side, the potato tasted funny and left a funny after taste. My wife's fish was really (I mean really chewy) to the stage that we were both surprised at how you could actually do that to fish. We either arrived too early before the cook had started or the person that was cooking last night didn't really care what he was doing. As I left I saw several other tables of people still waiting and they had ordered just after us. I have eaten in other places around the area and these guys really need to pick up their game.

I would give this place a miss if it wasn't for the kids area. The food is at best bland, items sound yummy on the menu, but failed to please. The standard dishes were ok. A little bit of passion is lacking from the kitchen.

Hot Rock Heaven. I ordered the Reef n Beef for around $27 which came on a Hot Rock. All I can say is that the steak was divine! Two prawns and a few calamari rings completes the 'Reef' part of the meal, a little disappointing. But, the service was great and the food was on my table within ten minutes. There's a child play gym out in the covered el fresco area with plenty of seating, which was great to entertain my 7yo while dinner was being prepared. There was so much food that unfortunately I couldn't finish my salad or chips. I would definitely pay $27 for it again.

Travelled from the Gold Coast and very disappointed to find that the tavern outlook is a car park. Try the same thing on the GC and you'd kill it. Beers selection terrific, food ok but location is terrible I'm sorry to say.

What a fantastic place!!. With some trepidation I approached the counter to ask for gluten free options. However the lady serving me soon put my mind to rest - everything on the menu is made fresh so they can modify the majority of the menu. I could pick anything! For a newly diagnosed Coeliac, this was super exciting.

The food was delicious and reasonably priced. My partner loved his meal. Both of us really liked the wide range of drinks the Tavern had as well.

Oooo - and the poached pear for dessert was delightful!!
