Review Maaza Restaurant - Ipswich

Emma Harm
I've been a frequent diner at Maaza since it opened and recommend it to everyone. It is the best Indian food I've ever had! I moved from Sydney to Brisbane and never found anywhere I was happy with but am very happy to have found Maaza in Ipswich. We order Indian hot and it's hot (which I love!) and still full of flavour. I've tried a lot of the dishes and would recommend them all, and have dabbled with the odd Persian dish which is delicious also. If you haven't tried Maaza yet, make sure you do!

Excellent service, family friendly, great food- just lacks a little on general presentation. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Service is quick. The naan is magnificent. Curries are lovely and a good size. Our entrées have been delicious, and we've tried a few, so I'd guess they're all good. As someone who's eaten a lot of Indian food, I was able to order my curry as Indian hot and it was perfect. We have taken our children on several occasions and they've been treated as if they're part of the family by staff, being spoken to in a friendly way and allowed to dance on the little stage up the front. This made us feel comfortable and at home. A couple of times, we've had a dirty (not unsanitary!!) tablecloth, but apart from that, this place is faultless. Thanks for the great meals and memories, Maaza!

We have ordered take away twice and it was excellent both times. The Vindaloo was hot but still had qonderful flavour. Had a get together with some friends at the restaurant once and the service was great and again the food outstanding. Will definitely be back.

Delish, I am a very loyal Maaza customer! I have been religiously eating there for a few years now and it is amazing indian! I used to travel into Southbank for indian, being vegetarian its hard eating out but what I love is that there are plenty of delicious options for me n the menu at Maaza's. I get potato masala very yummy and the garlic and cheese naan is so scrumptious. My husband gets beef vindaloo (hot) and he is never disappointed at the heat or flavour. The chicken tikka masala is also a hit! the only let down can be the front desk customer service, most of the time the girls working can hardly speak english and because of that have had my orders messed up but mostly its just awkward but its not that much of an issue, I guess it is a ethnic restaurant after all lol. Definitely the best Indian in Ipswich by FAR (trust me Ive tried them all!) if you can push through the language barrier you'll be in for a treat!

I have no idea how so many people have rated this so well. My husband and i ate the following meals from here (after waiting for our takeaway meals for an hour and fourty five minutes) Garlic naan Mango chicken Butter chicken Beef rogan josh Dahl And every single dish was watery and tasted awful. In addition to tasting as if every dish had also used woolies tomato paste for every base of their curries, we both had food poisoning. Would not reccomend and will definitely not go back. If i could give it no stars, i would.

Absolutely fantastic service, friendly and welcoming. Food was great. Had the Tika Masala and it was lovely. The interior of this restaurant is beautiful and I will be returning. Would recommend :)

Generous amount of food serves. Great taste. One of the best Persian food available in Ipswich. Visited about a year ago.

We have been to most of the Indian restaurants around Ipswich & just keep coming back to Maaza..it's authentic, tasty & value for money...

Ordered take away and it finished fast and the service was very friendly. In our order we had chicken korma, butter chicken and mango chicken all mild with a garlic naan, cheese and garlic naan and 2 servings of rice.
Did not enjoy the curries and there was hardly any cheese on the garlic and cheese naan, didn't even know which one was the garlic and cheese naan either, they just bother tasted like garlic naan. Very disappointed with the meals, won't be coming back.

This is our favourite Indian restaurant! The food is always cooked fresh and we're never disappointed, so delicious! Great prices. Excellent service.

If I could make one suggestion...some new tables/chairs to spruce up your restaurant out the front of the street and look more inviting...might encourage more lunch patronage?

We'll always be back! ;)

Delicious, we'll be back! Close to home & reasonably priced, it's like West End in Ipswich. Traditional decor & a Bollywood movie, what more could you ask for!!! There appears to be only one person front of house, which could slow things down in busy spells. Overall we had a very positive experience at Maaza 👍

I had a good experience. Great restaurant, great food, great prices and great service. Couldn't ask for anything better. I would encourage people to dine in or even get takeaway, great food.

GREAT FOOD!!!. I had the chance to sample the lunch menu from this fine restaurant.I had the beef korma with rice.
The beef was cooked to perfection and the rice was nice & fluffy, and just the right amount of spices were added to my tastes. The garlic naan bread was also yummy.
The small amount of time waiting was appropriate, didn't really notice as i was taking in the lovely decor.
The staff was awesome in very friendly.
I'm doing a class just around the corner from this place ( only for a few weeks thou ),so in that time i hope to try more fabulous food that this restaurant has to offer.

Great Value Indian in Ipswich. Fantastic experience. I have visited Maaza 3 times in the last 6 weeks and every time has been wonderful.
The staff are lovely, the meals are not only really good but are a decent serve with plenty of meat (not like others I have been to).
The Naan breads are so good with plenty of variety to choose from. The menu has plenty of choices so I will be back many more times to keep trying new dishes. Hard to pick favorite but the Vindaloo Beef and lamb sagwala are delicious.

Really Lovely Food. The restaurant had nice décor and atmosphere, the service was friendly and prompt. A variety of dishes were ordered, they arrived in short time and were all magnificent of good texture and flavour. A good variety of Naan Breads were available and the ones ordered were extremely nice and tasty. We would recommend to all of our friends and we will definitely be back.
From our experience here we cannot understand the other previous negative reviews. We commented on this doing the evening and believe that they may have some mischievous intent.

Worst indian meal ever had. I ordered a chicken tikka masala which, to my knowledge, should have some spices (masala) in it, instead, what i received is a tinned tomato soup which wasn't even boiled enough and some chunks of red coloured chicken in it...
Secondly they serve horrible hard thin naans which I had to bin it as I didn't wanted to risk my teeth..
To me, it's inedible! I'm sure I'm not going back there ever!

Preferred. I've eaten in and taken away from Maaza and the quality is consistent. The best, in my opinion, Indian/Persian joint in town, by a long shot. Service is always friendly and helpful. Not too overpriced.

My only criticism is when taking away, there is way too much sauce in the dishes when I think there should be more meat. Nevertheless, we always go back for more!

Yummo!. Food is sensational and authentic flavours. Service is quick BUT besides the owner, young staff that cant engage the customer in a bit of small talk! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE more Persian food!

All ways good. We've been to Maaza more than a dozen times and have always enjoyed fresh food and friendly service. We're fortunate to have a number of Indian restaurants in Ipswich now and I must say that Maaza has the most authentic flavours, a good range and is reasonably priced. Being BYO is a bonus as it makes for a less expensive night out.

Utterly disappointed. I have eaten at Maaza a handful of times, and have usually been very happy with the food; however, I was not impressed by the take away order that I received recently, and it has really put me off the idea of going back.

1. The medium butter chicken was not spicy at all and, in fact, tasted like chicken covered in tinned tomato soup. As someone who hates tomato soup, I almost vomited when I tasted this meal.
2. The naan bread was thin and hard.
3. The chicken pakora was soggy.

I am a reasonable person, and can be forgiving; however, I am not sure that I can overlook three disappointments in one visit. I plan to go to one of the other Indian restaurants in Ipswich in future.

I really enjoy going to maaza when ever I am in this area. A charming little restaurant, not flashy, but good prices authentic food, byo, great for groups. The family takeaway pack is a deal! Sometimes the service is a little off, but the food makes up for lack of experience at the table. A top little spot! I will be back :)

Excellent Excellent Excellent. Have been here on many occasions and will return. I have tried other Indian restaurants in Ipswich and this is by far the best. Food is very authentic & great sized servings means its great value for $.
Service is friendly and well timed, even when we dined with a group of 23 people. Would (and have) recommended Maaza to anyone.

Despite confusion trying to find this place and then calling up to ask the exact address and having a worker tell us a TOTALLY different address then myself calling and getting told the right address and when questioned 'why were we told brisbane st?' she said 'oh yeah one of the workers just said someone rang and i just said brisbane street because i didnt know.' :/ :/ why not ask someone??!?!? Anyway... Finally found the place! Nice inside was a bit too warm. Took a while for someone to come take our order, however once arriving the food was great! Really nice different tasting butter chicken i really liked it. Garlic naan was good too! My partner had to get up to ask for our drinkas though. Overall we may return, probably if we were only in the area as we live 25-30 min drive away. The food was very yummy :)

Consistently Great. I have eaten here on several occasions and the food is fantastic. It may not have the same location as the Indian Mehfil in Darcy Doyle Place but what it lacks in location it makes up for in great service, great food and consistency.
I would definitely recommend !

Good food and good value.. Indian dishes are very tasty. Persian dishes are outstanding. We are eager for them to expand on the Persian menu. The service is very good as is the atmosphere. When friends and family come to Ipswich we often take them here and have not had a bad night yet.
