Review Montezuma's Mexican Restaurant - Ipswich

Really enjoyed the vibes here! Lovely booths, super clean, attentive staff. The decor feels really authentic. They have separate menus for vegan or vegetarian! How cool! Lots of gluten free options, and everything is very clearly labelled. Loved the food, so many different things, I hope to try them all!

Quiet little place, clean and tidy, staff were very informative and helpful, they explained the ingredients in our meals which made ordering much easier. Would recommend a visit.

Great friendly attentive staff, Great food, Great service and terrific value. We shared the garlic prawn nachos best garlic prawns I’ve had in a while anywhere. It was a fabulous nostalgic visit we had. Great work Montezuma team.

We had a big family group, and the food was great. The service was good too, but the door said open till midnight? But that wasn't the case when I went to order another drink, was told they had closed the kitchen, and wouldn't even serve any more drinks? But why not check if we wanted anything else prior to the close?

The most awful experience and food I've ever had. So much so that I've resorted to writing a review which is not something I generally do. My partner and I sat down to lunch on Sunday 24th, to a very empty establishment with only one other table occupied by a couple. The young lady waiting on us was extremely inexperienced. We ordered 2 drinks and two main meals. Our drinks didn't come out until after the food once I asked for them. The food was brought out on hot plates with the waiteess using mitts to place them on the table and leaving us with a warning that they were hot. So much so we could not touch them or have any way to handle or move the plates. Next taking a look at my meal and having a poke around I realised it was beef based when I ordered the vegetable option. My partners chicken and sauce tasted like it was out of a packet and the rice was dry. I tried to cancel my order being remade as I was over it at this stage but the waitress said it was already in the oven and I didn't want to make a scene. My meal finally came out once my partner was finished with his and it was awful. Rice, veggies and beans piled onto a soggy tortilla topped and entirely covered with a mountain of chopped raw veg and salad like mix. I had a few bites and decided I was done and wanted to leave. Going up to the counter the waitresses had the audacity to ask me how the meal was and I said, 'honestly, it was awful' and I simply paid the very expensive $69.00 and left. The icing on the cake is that my partner felt sick for the next 24hrs.

My wife and I haven't been to Montezuma since Covid started. I had the Chilli Verde and my wife had the meatballs. Both meals were great, the staff were friendly and helpful. It's located on the outer side, facing the river while it's not on the main walkthrough, is worth going to.

My Fiancee and I enjoyed an absolutely amazing dinner, with Opal, Anthony and Tom making our night relaxing, fun and special. Highly recommend Montezuma's. Thank you.

Amazing.. Haven't had Montezumas in years, as my local closed a while back.. but oh my lord, the food was phenomenal..

Great food (a lil salty for me, but otherwise no complaints!) , even an entire vegan menu... Bonus: waitress we had was lovely. Then had a quick chat with the owners- what lovely people! Highly recommend them. Ordered the chili sin carne, fish tacos for my partner (he enjoyed it too), date and walnut cake (since it's fairly sweet, I recommend going with coconut cream instead of icecream), and a strawberry margarita. Will be back!

Love montezuma’s so much, I have been so many times and the staff are always super friendly, helpful and amazing and their food is awesome

We had a lovely time , food was lovely, staff where very busy as was Valentine’s Day but was good service .

The restaurant is clean and the people are friendly, and the food is really good. Always worth the trip there.
